In the year 10687, in the land of Equestria, a young dark gray, dragon with purple eyes, named Merith, wanted to be different from the rest of his kind. But not to the extreme of no longer being considered a Dragon.
So he embarked on a journey to find the land beyond the land he knew as home, and this is his story.
“Dear Kayrun your light is blinding me.” Merith muttered under his breath.
He had been traveling in the desert for days now
“Where is the forest? I was told there would be a forest at the end of the desert but all I see is more desert!” he yelled in frustration, thinking the old story teller had lied to him just to get him out of the pack.
Merith immediately went into aggression mode, as he called it. He whirled about and as he did, he noticed the sun had darkened just enough so it didn't blind him. When he finished he saw a dark gray creature that resembled a dragon but without the wings. Seeing this, he calmed down a little but, something was not right about this creature. He had heard legends about creatures like this one but he thought that they were something fake, just to keep little wyrmling’s from staying up too long.
“And who and what are you?”
“I am a pow-”
“Name first then species.”
“I’m Sombra and I’m a Anthro."
Crap was the first thing to go through his mind when he heard the word ‘Anthro’
“What can you do to help?” Merith practically snarled at him
“You are a weak puny Anthro that can't even fly you ABOMINATION!”
"Let's not get too carried away there. My kind thinks that you are enough of an abomination as you think us.” Sombra said so calmly that it scared Merith, Enough that his ears dropped and his wings and scales flattened
“Why are here with me in the middle of the desert offering me, a dragon, help? I could just tear you apart with my claws and feast on you!”
“Because, I am the lord of Shadows."
Oh crap Kayrun help me now
“Um... Are you here to take to the End?” Merith asks nervously
“No! I am here to train you in the dark arts of magic."
"WHA!?"
Merith was to, put it simply, shocked because, THE Lord Of Shadows is offering him help and a chance to train by his side
That sounds good but its Dark Magic, there has to be a catch.
“Sounds tempting, but what's the catch?” Merith asked suspiciously
“Ah, right to the point... Well I guess you deserve to know the catch. The catch is that you might never get to see your kind again.”
"Meh they don't like me that much anyways" Merith said, realizing that he had not drunk anything for 5 days.
his voice hurt as he said “By chance that Dark Magic can summon up water on a whim?”
he barely managed to get the words out.
“Hmm... I honestly don't know, I've never had a need to do... that... before...” his words faded out as Merith fainted out of dehydration
Merith woke up in a house on a comfy bed. When he finally decided to get out of the bed, he noticed a note on a pedestal by the bed, along with a plate of fine cuts of meat.
The note read:
Merith meet me downstairs in the living room (the big room) assuming you know how to use the stairs.

Stairs? what are stairs? Merith thought.
He had never heard of stairs...
Oh well.. I guess I will have to find out the hard way, after I have eaten
He quickly devoured the meat and quietly burped, he ended up finding out where the stairs. He found out that they were just a claw made form of hills, just a bit more dangerous.
“Why are we in the city?” Merith politely asked Sombra
“Because we need supplies for the journey” Sombra said calmly.
“Also you should be careful. I had to lie to the guards and tell them that you were dead”
They had been in the city for three days, they had gotten clothes tailored for Merith because Sombra had a ‘Friend’ that owed him a favor.
“And here comes the need for my cover story” Merith muttered under his breath as they passed a platoon of guards that were doing random checks.
“You there! come over here!” A guard yelled pointing a finger at Merith

“Yes officer?” Merith said as he walked over to the guard
You're under arrest!"
“Under what order”
“For being a Dragon.”
Crap was the first thing to go through his mind when he heard that.

Help and go with the role of being Master and Apprentice
“What do you need apprentice.” Sombra asked.
Merith gestured to the guard.
“Oh. I’m sorry officer. This dragon here is my Apprentice and,”
His tone started to change to a dark tone and his eyes became tinted green, his pupils became catlike. The colored part of his eyes became red and they emitted a deep purple mist. His hands had that same mist bubbling with a green outline.
“his name is Merith and if he does anything wrong I will handle it, GOT IT!?”
Sombra was levitating and wind was swirling about him as he yelled those words
“Master calm down before someone else sees us!”
The wind died down as did the mist. Merith look over his shoulder at the guard who had fallen over, who also had a look of fear and dread. Merith took note of a large wet spot on the guards pants and snickered a small bit.
Once Sombra calmed down he calmly said “I adopted him from a dragoness who could not care for him.”
Just the day before Sombra had rage shifted and had caught the attention of the Titan Force Army, and they kinda are chasing them at the moment.
"TI-TAN-FALL!" Sombra yelled as they were running.
"SOMBRA NO TIME TO YEL-" Merith was cut off by a aloud thundering roar, and looked up like all the pedestrians and saw a quick glimpse of a giant mechanical robot/combat suit.
"Sombra is that yours?" Merith asked with a bit of concern
"Yes it is, and they're going to die."Sombra simply replied. He ran up to it and leaped from the roof top he was running. What shocked Merith is that the mechanical being reached up and he caught him in mid-air.
"HOLY CRAP" They heard from one of the pursuing Titans
"RETREAT!!" one of them said before a 40 millimeter round went through his engine and through her skull
"YES RUN YOU FOOLS! RUN!!" Sombra yelled into the external mic practically killing his speakers.
Merith while this was going on had been practicing dark magic and managed to summon a pitch black crystal.
About 2 days after Sombra destroyed the Titan Army's most elite squad, Sombra started to notice something different about Merith. First thing he noticed is that Merith's eyes were glowing purple not green with purple mist like his, Second thing is that Merith's room was now, for some reason, decorated with A) his OWN blood and B) covered with Dark Crystals. Sombra just thought that Merith decided to have some fun and decorate his room while practicing his magic. But something was off about his room, then he noticed something on the table. He walked over and looked at the object just as Merith walked in.
"Sombra what are you doing in my room?" he asked
"I just was looking around, although what is this?" Sombra asked him as he held up the object on the table.
"Oh, that's what I call a phone and it's powered by both normal and dark magic."
Just then the phone started buzzing.
"Huh that must be Celestia"
"Wait what!?"
How in the name of tartarus does the princess have one of those device's already?
"Hold on, so your saying that Sombra and I are invited to the Grand Galloping Galla, which is in 7 DAYS!?"
Merith was shocked!
"One second, Sombra, about how long will it take to have a suit worthy of Grand Galloping Gala tailored?" Merith asked.
"Wait never mind Celestia say's that since we are the Guests of Honor, the top tailor's of Canterlot are at our disposal. Oh and all expenses are paid for."
"Wait, the Gala, as in THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA!?"
"You heard me didn't ya." Merith said sarcastically.
"Well, damm. They are just now inviting me, for all the things I've done for them they are just now inviting me to the Galla after after what I did…" his voice trailed off so Merith won't ask questions.
