The students at Canterlot High are eagerly counting down the clock, for soon school will end and the first day of summer vacation will begin.
All of the students start counting down the final moments of today's school day and the start of their summer vacation "Five, four, three, two, one."
Everybody from the teachers, to the students and even Vice Prinicipal Celestia and Vice Prinicipal Luna rush out of the school building.
Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Sunset Shimmer gather around the school statue/ portal to Equestria and discuss their plans for summer vacation.
Rainbow Dash tells all of her friends "I'm inviting every single of one you to come with me to the beach tomorrow, we're going to relax on the beach and surf the waves together and just for Rarity we'll even put down time to go shopping at some point so what do you say wanna come with me?"
Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rarity all agreed that they wanted to go along with her however Sunset Shimmer had other plans in mind.
Sunset Shimmer told her "Wow thank you Rainbow Dash but i'll have to decline I have other plans in mind."
Rarity asked her in the high society with a hint of British accent that she talks in with peaked interest "Oh do tell us what you're other plans are darling."
Sunset Shimmer told her "I'm going to use the portal to go to Equestria and hang out with Princess Twilight, Spike and the pony versions of all of you."
Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity all told her at the same time "Wow that sounds like fun, just make sure to tell Princess Twilight hi from all of us while you're there ok?"
Sunset Shimmer told all of them at the same time "I will."
Pinkie Pie asked her in the high pitch high energy voice that she talks in "Wait you didn't tell us when you are planning to go."
Sunset Shimmer told her "Oh yeah that's right well i'm actually going to leave right now, bye girls i'll tell you all about when I come back."
Sunset Shimmer headed for the portal and stepped right through it.
Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Princess Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Spike all said upon seeing her stand right before them "Sunset Shimmer?"
Sunset Shimmer told her friend "Hey Princess Twilight I bet you're wondering why i'm here, well back in Canterlot City it's vacation time and I decided to spend vacation time in Equestria more particularly here in Ponyville where I can hang out and have fun with you and your friends."
Princess Twilight told Sunset Shimmer "I'm so glad that you're here Sunset Shimmer."
Pinkie Pie said in her high pitch high energy voice that she talks in "Oh my we can have a Welcome Back To Equestria, Sunset Shimmer Is On Vacation Party."
Sunset Shimmer told Pinkie Pie "That actually sounds nice but maybe later today I kind of want to just take a walk around Ponyville, Princess Twilight will you show me around?"
Princess Twilight asked Sunset Shimmer "You've never been to Ponyville before even when you used to live in Equestria?"
Sunset Shimmer told her "Not really i've only been in Canterlot and The Crystal Empire."
Rarity told Sunset Shimmer in the British accent with a hint of high society thrown in there that she talks in "Oh Sunset darling when you get done you simply must come to Carousel Boutique so that I can make you a dress."
Sunset Shimmer told her "Wow thank you i'll be sure to do that."
Before Princess Twilight started walking with Sunset Shimmer around Ponyville Spike asked if he could come along and Sunset Shimmer told him "Sure you're my friend too Spike, of course you can come along."
Princess Twilight told him "You heard her Spike, let's go."
So Princess Twilight and Spike walked with Sunset Shimmer around Ponyville and even introduced them to some of her other friends around town who aren't Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash or Rarity such as Derpy Hooves, Cheerilee, Mr. and Mrs. Cake, Big Macintosh and The Cutie Mark Crusaders.
Sunset Shimmer told Princess Twilight "Wow Princess Twilight I can't believe it all of the ponies we met today act and even look a little bit like people I both know and have met in Canterlot City."
Princess Twilight suggested to her "Why don't we just refer to it as the human world."
Sunset Shimmer agreed with her and said "Ok human world it is."
Princess Twilight asked her "By the way speaking of the human world you haven't really mentioned much about The Sirens while writing to me, what have they been up to now that they can't put anybody under a spell through singing?"
Sunset Shimmer told her "I'm not sure ,really some days they show up to school but some days they don't so I can't really say i've seen much of them lately."
Princess Twilight told her "Hmm interesting."
Princess Twilight then told Sunset Shimmer and Spike "Let's go to see Rarity right now I promise you're going to love her dresses."
Sunset Shimmer told Princess Twilight "If they're anything like the dresses that Rarity makes back in the human world then i'll have to agree with you."
So Sunset Shimmer, Princess Twilight and Spike went to Carousel Boutique were Sunset Shimmer asked Rarity to make her a beautiful orange dress that looks similar to the mini skirt that she wears back in the human world except it's a dress so it's longer.
Anyway Sunset Shimmer told Rarity while giving her a hug at the same time "Oh thank you Rarity, I love this dress so much thank you."
Rarity told Sunset Shimmer as she returned the hug "You're welcome dear, i'm glad that you like it."
Anyway Princess Twilight, Rarity, Sunset Shimmer and Spike all went to Sugarcube Corner where Pinkie Pie threw her a party.
However at the party Sunset Shimmer told all of the ponies there as she started to cry tears of joy "Thank you everypony you've all made me feel welcomed and I really appreciate it but most of all I want to thank Pinkie Pie for throwing this party, thank you Pinkie Pie, thank you very much."
Anyway everypony and Spike are enjoying the party but at the party Lyra Heartstrings and Bon Bon approach Sunset Shimmer and Lyra asks Sunset Shimmer "So i've heard that you've been to a place called the human world?"
Sunset Shimmer thinks to herself outloud "You are just like the Lyra from the human world she acted the same way when she found out that I came from Equestria."
After partying for a long time it was night time and Sunset Shimmer needed somewhere to stay while she was on her vacation and Princess Twilight as well as Spike were both happy to invite their friend to stay at Princess Twilight's castle.
The next day Princess Twilight told Sunset Shimmer "Hey Sunset, it's time to wake up."
Sunset Shimmer yawned and then asked her friend "Good morning Princess Twilight."
Princess Twilight told her friend "Sunset Shimmer you don't have to call me that, we're friends you can just call me Twilight."
Sunset asked her in a surprised manner "Really are you sure that's ok, I mean yeah we're friends and everything but you're still royalty?"
Princess Twilight told her "Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity were the same way but I also told them that they don't have to call me that either unless they want to."
Sunset asked her "Ok but it might take me a while to get used to just calling you Twilight while I'm here in Equestria, so I might have to catch myself several times, so if I call you Princess Twilight you'll know why."
Princess Twilight told her "Ok sounds fair by the way I have a idea for what we can do today but if you're not up for it I would completely understand."
Sunset said while making a nervous expression on her face "I think I know what you have in mind but I'll let you tell me first."
Princess Twilight told her "I think that today we should go down to Canterlot and let Princess Celestia know that you're here on vacation."
Sunset Shimmer asked her "Couldn't you just have Spike send her a message?"
Princess Twilight told her "I suppose but I feel like the two of you need to make up with each other, however we don't have to do it today if you don't want to."
Sunset told her "No Princess Twil- I mean Twilight you're right we should make up with each other however before we go to Canterlot Castle there's somewhere else I want to go in Canterlot."
Princess Twilight asked her friend "Oh where else would you like to go?"
Sunset Shimmer told her "I want to go to my parents house, after all I've been gone for a long time, I'm sure that they've been worried about me."
Princess Twilight told her "Wow you're right I can't believe I didn't think about that, ok just let me know when you're ready to go."
Sunset told her "Right now, come on let's go."
So upon arriving in Canterlot Sunset went to her parents house and told her about the human world and her friends there as well as the reason she left Equestria to go there in the first place and while she was sure that they would be angry or upset would her she was happy to know that not only was she ok but she made friends who stood by her no matter what she's done.
Anyway after that Princess Twilight, Sunset Shimmer and Spike went to Canterlot Castle where Sunset came face to face with her former teacher and mentor.
Sunset was about to apologize to Princess Celestia for not only abandoning her studies and leaving Equestria several years ago only to return and steal the crown on Princess Twilight and take it with her into the human world but was instead greeted with a warm and loving smile, Princess Celestia said "Sunset Shimmer I'm glad to know that you're back."
Sunset asked with a shocked expression on her face "Aren't you mad at me, I mean not only did I abandon your studies and turn my back on you, then flee to the human world but then I came back and stole Princess Twilight's crown?"
Princess Celestia told her "Sunset Shimmer I know that you've messed up and done things that you regretted but Twilight has told me how not only you've made friends with not only her but human counterparts of Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity as well plus she has also told me how you and those same friends helped saved the human world from the Sirens and that's good enough for me."
Sunset told her "Well I was going to make this big heartfelt speech apologizing for everything that I've ever done but if you've forgiven me then I guess there's no need."
Sunset told told her "Just so you know I won't be staying here permanently, I'm staying here in Equestria on vacation, even though I've grown up and was born in Equestria I've grown to like the human world and besides I kind of promised the human counterparts of Princess Twili- I mean Twilight's friends that I would come back at the end of the Summer."
Princess Celestia told her former student "I understand Sunset Shimmer but I hope that sometime soon while you are still here that you'll stop by just for a visit."
Sunset told her former teacher and mentor "Ok Princess Celestia I'll be sure to do that sometime soon."
The story ends as Sunset Shimmer, Princess Twilight and Spike take the train at the train station to return to Ponyville. The End.
