The Mane Six go on holiday and at first everything seems rather boring.
Then a Rathian attacks the village they're staying in, burning all the boats and making it impossible to leave. As there were no other ponies in the village to train, the Mane Six are trained in the art of killing monsters. Accompanied by Rex, a monster tamer and his pet Great Jagi Fluffy, they attempt to make weapons and armour and then to take on the main threats of the island.
the mane six, twilight, flutter shy, rainbow dash, apple jack, pinkie pie and rarity were packing their bags and getting ready for their holiday on an island that was apparently paradise to holiday goers, to people that wanted to see exotic wildlife and gorgeous scenery and of course, exotic food.
Apple jack deserved the break after having to work a lot longer than usual this year since Macintosh had hurt his back from a tree landing on him... again. So apple jack had to pick up the slack. She did have help from her friends but she was exhausted most of the months.
Fluttershy just wanted to see the animals. Apparently there were creatures there that no one had seen before. That and she might make a new friend in the process. That it's always nice to have a change of scenery.
Rainbow dash basically went because she wanted to relax and unwind after training for the wonder bolts all year. That and the view's when flying was amazing apparently.
Rarity wanted to go for the same reason as rainbow dash, to see the views for her and to get some inspiration for her own fashion along the way would be a bonus.
Pinkie wanted to see if she could add anymore flavours of cupcakes to add to her collection 375 flavours already. That and she just wanted to throw a party as well. And see what was so good about the food there, as it was described as being a "must try thing" apparently.
Twilight wanted to research the culture and history of the island, seeing as she never heard of this place and the fact that she had never heard of this place did surprise her.
They arrived at a harbour in the afternoon and got on a boat and set off to the island.
2 hours later....
"Are we there yet!?" asked an impatient rainbow dash. "nope." said the captain. "About another 5 hours at least if we take the long path there, 2 if we take the shorter one." "Take the shorter one! I don't want to die of boredom." rainbow dash looked impatient. "Who votes to take the shorter, filled with shark’s path?" said the captain. No one put there hooves up. "I thought so." "Do you have any food on this boat to eat? I’m starving!" asked pinkie pie. "fine." the captain got out a harpoon. "Who wants fish?" asked the captain. "We’re all vegetarians, not meat eaters." "Have you tried fish? You get used to it." he harpoons a large bass, and cooks it on the BBQ. "Lunch is served!" the captain stopped the boat, and set up an area to eat.
"There, some lunch." the captain set out a piece for every pony but no one ate it. "What now? It’s fine. Just try a little." pinkie grabbed the fish with her teeth and ate a bit. "Well?" "It’s okay, a bit chewy." pinkie eats the fish. Rainbow tries a bit and likes it "this is pretty good." Fluttershy walks over to the side and watches the fish swim by. "What are you doing Fluttershy?" "Just admiring the view that's all and the fish. It looks nice." Fluttershy looked around and saw something moving in the water. It got close to the boat. Fluttershy looked down and saw a creatures eye's, causing her to step back a bit. "Stay away from the side in this area. There’s been a lagirous sighting in this area and I don't want to repair my boat again." "A what? Sir I've never heard of a creature called that before." asked Fluttershy slightly scared.
The captain got out some books and handed them out. "These books contain info on the monster's you need to watch out for. You probably saw a royal ludaroth. Be careful of them though. One bite and your dinner." "What about this then?" Fluttershy pointed to the bird like creature in the sky. "That’s a rathian. A dragon like creature that breaths fire and is extremely dangerous." the captain pointed to the stars next to its name. "Since your tourists, anything above 1 star is out of reach. So Moga woods is out of bounds." "So what are we supposed to then? Sit in cabins and wait until we have to go home?!" asked an angry rainbow dash. "well you can enter Moga woods if you get a monster hunter license but they only give them out in emergency's and to pony's that can handle themselves." the rest of the trip went by fairly quickly, except for dash who found the trip rather boring.
"Um captain, that dragon is still up there. Is that normal?" the captain looked up. "No it's not." he got out a telescope and looked at the beast. "That’s not a rathian, that's a ruthian." he looked worried. "But there not supposed to be this far out... unless this one made a nest somewhere...”. "Look at that thing; it's so tiny from here! It looks like teeny tiny little mousy." "Well that doesn't matter because were here now, Moga village."
The town was small but very lively, filled with ponies that ether traded good's with the locals or fisher ponies. "This place seems nice." said Fluttershy "do you mind if I look around a bit?" "Okay Fluttershy but meet at that shop over there when you’re done." said twilight. Fluttershy went off to do her own thing. "So where is our cabin anyway?" asked rarity. "Well were supposed to go across this bridge here to a farm and that's where are cabin is." everyone went to check out the cabin.
Fluttershy looked around to see what was available to do. There were a few stores and places to get food but the village had a rather calm and cosy feel. She walked around and bumped into a pony accident.
"Hay watch were you’re... oh sorry, you’re a lady, pardon my manners." the pony helped Fluttershy up. "No its okay I wasn't looking were I was going." replied Fluttershy. "Could you help me with something? I need help with my pet real quickly." "Of course I’ll help. I love animals, so I can help with your dog." "Well it's not a dog. But thanks, I’ll show you to him. By the way the names Rex." he smiled and took Fluttershy over to his pet.
"Okay here he is, fluffy." Rex pointed to the 10 foot long, about 8 foot tall raptor like creature snoring, "Oh my that's a big one." Fluttershy was scared. "Don’t worry, fluffy won't hurt a fly... unless i say so. Could you just help me calm him down if he gets angry? Just uses this whistle and it will make him relax a bit." Rex passed the whistle to Fluttershy. Rex went over to fluffy and woke him up. Fluffy was angry and started to lash out and went straight for Fluttershy. The creature roared at Fluttershy and sniffed her. Fluttershy was terrified now. Then fluffy opened moved closer to Fluttershy and started to lick her like a puppy. "Hay he likes you!" exclaimed Rex. "He’s actually rather cute once you look past the teeth and claws." Fluttershy stroked fluffy on the head. "You said you were pretty good with animal’s right?" Fluttershy nodded. "Hang on I have something here, as thank you." He passed an necklace to Fluttershy. "It’s a jagi necklace. You can keep it if you want." Fluttershy took the necklace. "Thank you." and then she went off. Fluffy looked at Rex oddly. "What her? Nah she wouldn’t make a tamer." fluffy smiled. "Besides, there's no need to."
Fluttershy made her way to the location that her friends told her to wait by and was greeted by applejack. "Hay there sugar cube, how was the look around?" asked apple jack. "Oh well I didn't really get to. I helped someone with their pet. I did see some stores and such..." as Fluttershy was speaking a loud roar could be heard. “what the hay was that?!" suddenly the boats started to explode, and everyone started to panic. "Shy, look!" applejack pointed to the ruthian above them, destroying the boats. Fluttershy and applejack ran back to the cabin.
Apple jack and Fluttershy got back to the cabin and explain what they just saw. "Sweet, a giant dragon!" rainbow dash was excited. "Finally something to do!" Rainbow dash flew out and went to the village. Twilight and everyone else followed.
The town was in a panic, with fishermen shouting about their work being lost due to their boats being destroyed, the town’s folk were scared and everyone was in a panic. The village chief appeared and had something to say. "My friends, if you remember about a month ago, an earthquake happened. Some monsters have been driven out by some disaster and they are moving here. What I recommend we do is we get some licensed hunters to help us." A random pony speaks. "The boats are destroyed; no one can get in or out, unless they want to get killed!" "Then we shall make some hunters then. Who will enlist?" no one raised there hooves. Someone walked up and spoke. "Names Rex, monster tamer, trainer, and hunter teacher, and this is fluffy." His great jagi appeared and stays next to Rex. "I’ll help yah but I need some recruits. Anyone will do... that group over there." He pointed to twilight and her friends. "What us?!" twilight was surprised. "Yes I’m picking you six because fluffy told me to, and he's never steered me wrong. I’ll take you to Moga woods to train you, fluffy gather the weapons." fluffy went off and Rex took the mane 6 to Moga woods.
In Moga woods...
"Ah the air is fresh today. Smells like..." Rex gets punched in the arm by rainbow dash. "What was that for?!" "For dragging us into hunting monsters! What the buck are you thinking anyway?!" said rainbow dash angrily. "Simply put, you six seem to me that you would make novice hunters at least. Besides, I can teach you how to fight." Fluffy comes in with the weapons and Armour. "Good fluffy, here's a fish." Rex gives fluffy the food and eats’ it in one bite. "Now let's divide up these weapons."
Rex gets out a long, thin blade. "I be leave this would suit you rainbow head." he passes the blade to rainbow dash. "Give it a swing on that tree over there." rainbow dash gave a slash and chopped a tree in 2. "Cool!" Next, Rex gets out 3 parts to a weapon. "This is a bow-gun. Long range and comes with a lot of shots and types." Pinkie pie looks at it and makes the gun. "This looks funny." she fires a shot into the air. "It offers speed over power. Here’s a book on how to make a bunch of shots." Rex then points to Fluttershy. "You look rather scared to use any weapon so you can be a medic of this group. Fluffy take Fluttershy into the forest and explain herbs and medicine to her." fluffy grabs Fluttershy in his mouth carefully and throws her on his back and heads off. "That thing had better not hurt her or else you'll need a new face!" said rainbow dash, raising her sword to his face. "As for you my orange friend, here's a great sword! defence and attack in a giant sword." apple jack picks up the sword with her teeth and gives it a test swing, going through a tree and 2 feet into the ground. "As for you miss rarity I be leave? Anyway, I think you would do well as a gem collector and a blacksmith." "That would mean I would be covered in dirt then!" Rex rolled his eyes. "Fine, you collect the gems and bring them to the black smith in town. He upgrades your weapons and such." "Oh and the purple pony, I’ll explain to you later. Now everyone gathers your weapons, were heading to camp!"
With Fluttershy and fluffy...
Fluffy took Fluttershy to cave like area with a lake nearby and with the sun shining of the lake. "Please stop now. I’m rather dizzy from this." Fluffy stopped and put Fluttershy on the ground. "Thank you." Fluffy went to gather some herbs, honey and mushrooms. He then started to draw basic pictures to show how the ingredients work. Herbs restored health, blue mushrooms cured poison. He then drew how when mixed, they created a potion which would restore more health then a simple herb. Add some honey and it becomes a mega potion, which restores all health. "You are a very clever little guy." Fluttershy stroked Fluffy on the head. Fluffy gathered some materials in his mouth and carried Fluttershy back to the camp, by smelling Rex's scent.
As they travelled, Fluttershy saw something in the sky. It was the ruthian from before. "Fluffy could we speed up a bit? I’m a bit worried." Fluffy went from 5 to 20 in a couple of seconds and got to river. "Let’s get a drink first." Fluttershy went over to the river and drank some of the water. A group of passing Apioths passed by and started to drink. Fluttershy looked at them and thought they were cute. Fluffy also got a drink as well and scared off the Apioths. Fluffy shrugged, picked up Fluttershy and went to the camp where everyone was waiting.
"So Fluttershy how was the lesson Fluffy gave you?" asked Rex. "It was nice. Fluffy is a lot smarter than any animal I know." "Good to know. Now this camp will be our main base and such, were we sleep and such when we’re hunting. Those red and blue boxes there are for when we get quests like killing a rathian or something like that. Were also near the village so if you need to get anything from the village, it's just a 10 minute walk, or a 5 minute flight."
It was getting late in evening and everyone was going to sleep except Rex, Fluttershy and twilight and Fluffy. "Rex, why did you pick us anyway? You choose us by random out of the crowd." "That’s because the best kind of hunters are the ones who have forced on them." said Rex excitingly. "By the way tomorrow I’m going to teach you how to track, trap, poison, freeze, paralyze, and burn monsters." Before twilight could answer, Rex went to sleep next to Fluffy who had also fallen asleep. "He’s very odd." said twilight, rolling her eyes in annoyance at Rex. "I don’t know twilight, I like him. Maybe having this job makes someone a bit loose in the head." Fluttershy smiled. "Besides I like this. The animals are new and some are rather cute." twilight had gone to sleep from Fluttershy talking. "Oh. Well night twilight." Fluttershy stayed up for a while longer, enjoying the night time air, before falling asleep.
It had become morning and Rex woke up first to smell of a smelly jagi. "Fluffy wake up." Rex pocked fluffy and woke him up. "Fluffy, go have a bath, you smell." fluffy jumped in the lake with a loud splash with some of the water getting on Fluttershy, waking her up. "Sorry about that, fluffy needed a bath." Rex smiled. "No it's okay. Though if you woke up dash over there, you would be upside down by now." said Fluttershy nervously. "Ah she doesn't scare me." fluffy got out of the water and licked Fluttershy again. "He really likes you." Fluffy looked at Rex oddly. "No I don't like her that way." fluffy tilted his head. "I swear fluffy don't worry." "What did he say?" asked Fluttershy. "He asked if I had a crush on you." Fluttershy blushed. "Do you?" Fluttershy still blushing. "Nah, I don't have one. Last time I had a relationship, she got eaten by a ludaroth." Rex sighed. "But that's the past." Fluffy gave a smile to Rex. "Ah you always know what to say fluffy." Rex stroked fluffy on the head. "He didn't say anything though." said Fluttershy. "Sign language Fluttershy. A face has more words then a library."
After a while, everyone woke up and got ready. "okay everyone he's what's going to happen: rainbow dash, pinkie pie and apple jack, I spotted a royal ludaroth a day ago so that will do for practice with your weapons, twilight and rarity, head back to town and gather some missions and supplies. Fluttershy and fluffy, go and scout the area. Best not to fly, rathian kill easy flying prey." Rex said in a reassuring tone and with that everyone went off.
Fluttershy and fluffy went to a cliff area connected to a cave and a waterfall. Fluffy looked at one half of the area and Fluttershy looked at the other half. "This place is really nice. I wouldn’t mind living here." While Fluttershy was looking around, a group of jagi appeared and started to attack Fluttershy. "Please don't hurt me." They didn't listen with one going to bit her and missed but another snuck up from behind and bit her in leg. Fluttershy let out a loud scream. Fluffy came along and fought them off. One attacked fluffy but fluffy hit him off a waterfall with his tail, scaring the others off.
Fluttershy tried to stand and she did but she was limping, so fluffy just put her on his back for the rest of the scouting. "Fluffy please can we go back to camp? This hurts a lot." fluffy turned around and went back to the camp, with Fluttershy on his back. At the camp Rex was making something. "Howdy fluffy an-" he saw Fluttershy and fluffy placed her on the ground. "What happened?!" Rex was worried. "I got bitten by a smaller version of fluffy." Rex got out some bandages and herbs. He crushed the herb and rubbed it one bandage. "This will sting a bit." he wrapped the bandage around her leg which made her whimper a bit. "There, it's all done. Rest up here for a while, I’ll go with fluffy." Rex was stopped by Fluttershy. "Go check on everyone else. Please." Rex sighed. "Okay I will. Fluffy were off."
Rex and fluffy went to the area were the royal ludaroth was sighted and quickly saw apple jack, pinkie pie and rainbow dash though no royal ludaroth. "Guy’s go back to the camp!" Rex yelled. "What for? You said fight the luda-" "Just go back to camp, I forgot to give you some stuff." Rex said and everyone went back including Rex.
They arrived at the camp and rainbow saw Fluttershy and her bandage. "What happened?" asked a worried Rainbow dash. "Some jagi's attacked and I got bitten, though fluffy saved me. Besides it has healed up really well though." Fluttershy smiled and walked over to Rainbow dash, though she limped a bit. "Well it's good to see you've healed up so well. I forgot to give you guy's Armour though I left it at the village. Fluffy, go get the Armour." fluffy nodded and went off. "Fluttershy, rest up. Jagi’s bites can be more dangerous the they appear." Fluttershy went off to sleep.
20 minutes later...
Fluffy returned with a cart of armour and rarity and twilight. "Were back with some missions." said twilight. "I've got some jewels that are supposed to make your armour fire proof." said rarity. "Excellent! I’ll dish out the armour: some heavy armour for apple jack and these jewels to make your armour lighting proof." Apple jack put on armour and looked like medieval knight. "Pinkie this armour and jewels will improve your shooting." pinkie smiled and put on the armour in a second. "How? Never mind." "This armour is made from qurapeakco's that I've hunted. It’s fire resistant, light and it makes you more resistant in dearests." "Awesome!" said dash as she put on the armour. The feathers on the armour made dash look funny, making apple jack laugh. "What’s so funny?" asked an irritated Rainbow dash. "Oh nothing." dash rolled her eyes. "I’m going to go practice." "Excellent idea rainbow. Apple jack, you need some practice as well." said Rex. "Pinkie, do you want to go as well?" "Sure! It’ll be fun!" pinkie bounced off with applejack and Rainbow dash behind her.
They went to an area with a river and a decent amount of grass and bugs, perfect for small plant eaters and bugs. "This place is nice, don't you thinks apple jack, and I think it's nice but that might be the funny herb I ate a while ago but oh well. Dippy do DA!" pinkie was ether very hyper active at this point or just eaten a poisonous mushroom. First option is most likely. "So what do you want to practice on?" asked Rainbow dash. A large creature with a sponge like mane around its neck appeared and saw pinkie pie. It roared and started to attack. "PINKIE!" shouted applejack. Pinkie pie turned around and saw the large creature. "Hi there." the monster attacked pinkie pie but she jumped back.
Rainbow charged at the creature and slashed at its yellow mane. The sword went into the mane but did nothing to the beast. "What the hell?" rainbow was shocked that her sword had so little to it. "Here it is! A royal ludaroth!" said pinkie pie excitedly. "The yellow thing is a sponge and it's very hard to kill this thing unless we let the mane dry out. So in other words..." pinkie got out some unusual shots. "Let’s set it on fire!" pinkie fired a couple of shots at the mane and set it a light. The ludaroth got angry and fired a ball of water at pinkie pie and hitting. "Pinkie!" said apple jack and rainbow in unison. "I’m okay!" said pinkie who fired a dozen more shots at the ludaroth. Applejack went in and chopped of its tail while it was still on fire and being shot at. The royal ludaroth roared in pain and was really angry now. It swiped at apple jack who blocked with her sword. "Rainbow, finish this thing!" rainbow dash jumped 10 feet in the air and stabbed the creature in the head, killing it. The beast fell to the ground. Dash pulled her blade out of its head. "We...we won?" dash was shocked. "We won and no one got hurt... except pinkie." they all cheered and gathered what they could of the royal ludaroth which basically meant the mane and tail.
They returned to camp and Rex was over joyed at what they've done. "Well done my friends. Nice kill, the mane's intact and so is the tail. Hmm... we can use the mane for a bed and the tail for food. Don’t worry it tastes like fish." Rarity looked at the spongy material. "So soft though it does have rough feel to it. I’ll help with the bed." "Twilight could you go with fluffy and gather some fish?" asked Rex. "Fine. It’ll give me something to do." Fluffy picked up twilight and went off to the coast of the island to fish.
A few minutes later...
"Um... Rex?" Fluttershy said quietly. "Yeah Fluttershy?" Rex replied with a smile. "What do you need?" "I wanted to ask if you something." Fluttershy said quietly again. "Could you teach me how to tame monsters... if you want to of course?" Rex smiled and gave Fluttershy a nudge on the shoulder. "Of course Fluttershy! I’ll gladly teach you. But not this week though. I would need to get some stuff ready for you." Fluttershy smiled. "Okay then." Fluttershy yawned and went off to sleep.
Twilight came back with a catch of fish and Rex cooked it up and got out some vegetables for everyone else that didn't want to eat fish. "Good catch twilight. I hope you guys like the veg I brought." Rex said as he fed some fish to fluffy. "Oh it was easy. I just used my magic and fish for dinner." said twilight eating a salad. "Hay Rex, what's with fluffy? How did you get a 10 foot lizard thing?" asked rainbow dash. "Yeah I’m curious as well." asked rarity. "Well one day while I was hunting, I came across fluffy here injured and dying. I took him home and raised him as my own." "Really that's it?" asked Rainbow dash. "I mean he's a giant raptor! I thought there would be more to It." added Rainbow dash. "Nope nothing else. Fluffy go to bed now." fluffy got up and went to his bed for sleep. "I’m going to get some shut everyone so I’m off." apple jack went over to her bed and went to sleep. "Same here." pinkie said as she went off to bed and one by one everyone went off to sleep.
Rex stayed up and kept watch for anything out of the ordinary. He saw a shape on the moon of the ruthian from the attack on the village. He looked at his new friends and sighed. He went off to bed to sleep and think this over for tomorrow.
Everyone had woken up rather early today seeing as fluffy had roared in the morning to wake everyone up. "Stupid pink raptor thing." mumbled Rainbowdash. "Okay everyone listen up, I need to divide up the jobs for today." Rex got out the quests that twilight and rarity had gotten yesterday. "We have hunting a royal ludaroth on this island here, saying it attacked some pony's boat. Rainbowdash I’m giving this quest to you." Rainbowdash got her sword and went off to hunt some ludaroth. "For applejack, you have to capture a Qurapeco. rather easy this one, just beat the hell out of it and then use these shock traps and tranquilizer bombs to capture it." applejack was slightly confused. "What the hay is Qurapeco?" asked apple jack. "It’s a giant bird basically. This quest takes place in the sandy plains, so take these cold drinks to keep you from drying up. Just go to town and they'll take you to the sandy plains in no time." applejack got her great sword and went off to the sandy plains.
"Excuse me Rex but what can I do?" asked Fluttershy almost in a whisper. "Hmm... well there's a quest here to gather some herbs and such so it should be easy enough for you but just in case, pinkie pie can go with you if you want to." Rex rolled his eyes a bit. "Okay dockey, come on shy!" pinkie grabbed Fluttershy and went off. "Okay let's see here... the last quest is to check on the top of that mountain there to see if a ruthian has nested there." Twilight and rarity were rather worried. "You want use to go to the top of a mountain and spy on a dragon that would kill us on sight?!" exclaimed rarity. "No of course not... I want you two to go with me and fluffy to spy on the giant dragon of death." Rex laughed a bit and got on fluffy. "My lady's, your carriage awaits." twilight and rarity rolled their eyes. "Is that monster clean?" asked rarity. Fluffy looked insulted. "I’ll have you know miss marshmallow that I’m a clean little raptor!" Thought fluffy. "He’s clean don't worry, now hope aboard already and lets go." rarity and twilight got on and headed off.
With pinkie pie and Fluttershy...
Fluttershy skipped through the forest, humming a soft tune that made pinkie pie smile and start hoping next to her. "I love it here! It’s so exciting and super cool with the giant monsters and dragons." exclaimed pinkie pie, looking upwards into the sky and seeing a flock of passing birds. "Oh there are a few swirly birds flying away." Fluttershy was just looking around for what was on the list, coral stones. They made it to a beach and looked into the water. "So who's going to swim?" asked Fluttershy meekly, scared of what might be under the water. Pinkie grabbed her bowgun and jumped into the water.
Pinkie dived deeper and deeper under water a looked for the coral stones. She saw a few and gathered as many as she could and then swam to the top and waved to Fluttershy. "Hay Fluttershy! The waters okay and I got the coral." pinkie saw her smile and went back to the coast. "Are you okay pinkie? Did you get hurt?" Fluttershy asked in concerned tone. "I’m fine Fluttershy. jeez you worry to mu-" before pinkie could finish, Fluttershy hugged her tightly. "I don't want my friends getting hurt that's all." Fluttershy started to tear up a bit. "stop it shy! look I pinkie promise I won't get hurt." pinkie moved her hooves around to show the pinkie promise routine. "sorry. it's just this place is so dangerous and I’ll probably hold everyone back and I don't want to do that. I want to help in any way I can. but I’m too scared to do anything." pinkie thought about this. "I know! you and I can be bow gun buddies! I have trouble with putting shots in this so you can help me do that." "and I can help make special shots as well... if you want me to of course." pinkie got out a little book. "Rex said that fluffy said that this book has a lot of recipes for shots and talismans or something like that." Fluttershy smiled. "at least I’ll be helpful." pinkie gave her the little book. "now let's get our reward all ready." pinkie and Fluttershy went back to town to collect there award.
with applejack in the desert...
"stupid bird..." applejack grunted while going through the desert looking for the creature. "of all the places in this whole bucking place, it has to be in the hottest desert ever." apple jack looked around and saw sand, sand and a cactus. applejack looked up though and saw something flying through the air. it was rather large but apple jack couldn't tell what the creature was due to her eye's going a bit blurry.
applejack looked around the area she was in and saw the creature in front of her, sleeping. "hay you!" apple jack yelled at the creature but getting no response. she picked a stone and throwed it at the creature. the bird like creature stood about 8 feet tall and was a multitude of colours, a bit like if pinkies rainbow muffins got cross breed to make a giant bird. the bird puffed up its chest and roared at applejack. she drew her great sword and pointed it towards the Qurapeco. "this is going to be easy as apple pie." the Qurapeco puffed up its chest and made a loud roar that moved apple jack back a few feet. "okay shut up now you puffy faced bird!" apple jack picked up her sword and swinged it at the creature how jumped back a bit. every time apple jack tried to hit the bird, it jumped back.
after a while the Qurapeco started to fly off. "oh no you don’t you varmint!" apple jack got out her lasso. the Qurapeco started to take off but apple jack lassoed the bird by the leg and hitched a ride. the Qurapeco looked down and saw applejack. "land you varmint!" the Qurapeco rolled it's eye's in annoyance but saw a large creature approaching, a rathian. "on second thought, fly you stupid bird!" the rathian started firing balls of fire at the Qurapeco but the bird managed to dodge them. the rathian got closer and grabbed the Qurapeco and threw it to the ground, along with applejack.
apple jack rolled as she landed to take off most of the damage and saw the Qurapeco on the floor badly injured from the fall. she walked up to the creature. "don't worry, I’ll be quick." applejack got her great sword and cleaved through the monsters neck, killing it quickly and painlessly. that job was done and applejack decided to head back... until the rathian appeared. "oh for buck sake!" the rathian roared at applejack and fired a fireball at applejack though she ducked to avoid the attack but got her tail burned off in the process. "my tail!" applejack grabbed her sword and ran off. she was brave but she didn't want to become lunch for dragon!
she ran off back to camp so she could head back to the village. once she got back she checked her burnt tail. "ahh great, I've lost my bucking tail! what next, I lose my eye?!" applejack yelled as she headed back to the village, rather angry about the whole thing.
with Rainbowdash...
Rainbowdash flew through the air trying to find the royal ludaroth and to get a view of the area. she landed on a rock platform in the ocean to see if the royal ludaroth was anywhere, it would be in the sea for sure. Rainbowdash got bored and started to fish for a bit.
3 hours later...
Rainbowdash had fished and caught nothing. "well I’ve wasted a day doing nothing... wait what was I looking for again?" Rainbowdash thought and remembered. "oh yeah I’m supposed to be looking for a royal Luda something." she took off and looked around for a while and saw a beach. she landed and looked around. "what did this quest say about this whole thing?" rainbow dash took the quest papers out and looked through the sub quests. "chop off its tail and damage it's mane... easy enough." rainbow sat down and was about to take a nap until she heard an eagle screech. "hay an eagle where is it?" rainbow looked around saw nothing. "must be my imagina-" a royal ludaroth jumped out of the water and tried to crush rainbow dash but she rolled out of the way, though her long sword got crushed by the royal ludaroth.
"you broke my sword you yellow puff ball!" Rainbowdash charged at the ludaroth and punched it in the face, doing nothing. the royal ludaroth fired a ball of water at Rainbowdash and hitting causing her vision to go blurry and sending her back a few feet. the royal ludaroth pounced at Rainbowdash and she rolled out of the way. she got out her carving knife and stabbed at the creature’s tail, making it roar loudly in anger. it turned around and slashed at Rainbowdash but she dodged the attack. "great I have a 10 foot puff ball trying to kill me and no weapon to fight it with." Rainbowdash looked at the remains of her long sword and saw that about half of it had stayed intact. she ran over and grabbed it. "not much but I don't the rest of it to take down a yellow puff ball like you!" every time Rainbowdash called the royal ludaroth that, it seemed to get rather angry for some reason. it roared again and started charging towards Rainbowdash. "bring it on!" Rainbowdash also charged at the creature. the ludaroth slashed with its claw but Rainbowdash slashed through it. she ran up the creature’s chest, ran down its back and sliced its tail off, reclaiming her carving knife in the process.
the ludaroth roared in pain and steam started to come out of its head in small puffs. it charged at Rainbowdash but she sidestepped, jumped on the creatures back and started stabbing it with her carving knife and what was left of her long sword. "come on already!" Rainbowdash got annoyed that it was taking so long to kill this thing. the ludaroth rolled over but Rainbowdash jumped off and started to attack the creature again. ludaroth fired a ball of water at Rainbowdash but she dodged the attack and jumped onto its face and stabbed it in the eye. she jumped off to admire her work but somehow was still alive. "come on already!" she attacked again, this time jumping on to its chest and stabbing it several times in a row. the royal ludaroth started to breath heavily from the blood loss and fell to the ground and died. "there, done! I’m going to take a nap." Rainbowdash flew to a safe area and fell asleep for a few hours.
with Rex, twilight, rarity and fluffy...
most of the day had been spent climbing the mountain to get to the nest, with rarity and twilight riding on fluff’s back as they climbed higher and higher. "good fluffy, those climbing boots I gave are really paying off aren't they?" fluffy smiled. "I must say, you and fluffy are a good team." rarity said, admiring the duo. "I trained him to be the best of the best." "the best of what exactly?" asked twilight. "the best hunter partner of all time of course!" Rex and fluffy laughed a bit. "you’re just like Rainbowdash, wanting to be the best." twilight smiled. "well different ponies, different goals I guess."
they got to the top of the mountain and found piles and piles and piles of bones from hundreds of different animals. rarity almost threw up at the sight and twilight almost fainted. "you okay?" Rex asked, looking at twilight and rarity. "just a bit disgusted by the bones and corpses that's all." rarity said then passed out. "fluffy, if you would be so kind?" fluffy went over and picked up rarity. "good boy."
they looked around and saw no sign of the ruthian anywhere, no baby's no fire trails or anything. "well this was a waste of time." said twilight in an annoyed tone. "hmm... well ruthians prefer hot areas over areas like this, so it probably lives in the magma zone." "how do we get there then?" asked twilight. "simple. we sail across the sand that's all." Rex laughed a bit. "and I happen to have my own boat ready and waiting to go, though you guys can't come along." Rex looked at twilight and saw she was angry. "why? is it because we will be dead weight or something?!" "well if you put it like that then yes, I think you lot would be dead weights in an area filled with lava and magma and some of the most dangerous monsters ever." twilight's anger faded away. "you don't want us to get hurt, that's why?" "well yes of course. you guys have families to get back. there was more important than some monster." Rex got on fluffy and picked up twilight. "now let’s head back already." fluffy started to run down the mountain, avoiding any obstacles on the way.
a few hours later...
everyone was back at camp though most ponies had fallen asleep with only Fluttershy, Pinkiepie and Rex were awake. "pinkie, you’re really good at swimming." Fluttershy said nervously to Pinkiepie. "ahh it's nothing, I used to swim in the pond when I was little filly, until I discovered ice skating which is way more fun and way cooler. hay you should try swimming you would like it." pinkie looked at Fluttershy and saw she smiling rather faintly. "are you okay Fluttershy? you seem really quiet, and that's saying a lot because your always quiet." pinkie waited for a response and after a while Fluttershy spoke again. "I’m fine, just scared that's all. I don't want my friends getting hurt that's all but I can't protect anyone." Fluttershy said rather soberly. "we already talked about this you silly filly, you can be my gun buddy and if I ever get hurt, you can fix me up with love and care, like you do for your animal buddy's." Fluttershy yawned, and so did Pinkiepie. "well I’m off to bed, see you in the morning pinkie." Fluttershy and Pinkiepie went of to bed and fell asleep.
everypony had already awoken and made them self some breackfest. Rainbowdash had repaired her sword from the royal ludaroth of yesterday. Applejack's burn injuries from yesterday had healed up nicely as well. pinkie and Fluttershy had practiced using the bowgun together, with pinkie firing and Fluttershy reloading a selecting the appropriate shot. Rarity had made some Armour for everyone and twilight was learning about the monsters of the land. Rex was clearing up fluffy from yesterday and had gathered some quests from town but there was one that grabbed his attention.
"okay everyone, listen up." everyone gathered around Rex and saw the quest. "the ruthian that destroyed the boats has been spotted in volcano area. the quest say's to kill it and make sure it's dead." Fluttershy raised her hoof meackley. "are we all going?" Rex noticed how scared she was from the sweat on her head. "i'm tacking those who can fight, so in other words, dash and applejack and pinkie, your coming with me and fluffy." "Fluttershy and me work together on the bow gun thingy." Fluttershy nodded her head in disagreement. "no thanks pinkie, i'll just stay here." pinkie's hair deflated in disappointment. "come on Fluttershy, think how much fun it will be!" before Fluttershy could reply, a small boat appeared near the camp. "that's our ride now come on, were heading off." pinkie picked up Fluttershy like a teddy and jumped on the boat in sheer excitment.
"come on, let's go! this will be really fun!" pinkie exclaimed, smiling in utter excitement. applejack and rainbow dash got on along with Rex and fluffy and went off to the ruthian lair. as long as the magma doesn't get them first of course.
they sailed off, with twilight and rarity waving goodbye and good luck to there friends, hoping for the best there friends. "do you think they will be okay?" asked rarity. "of course. i know so." twilight was sweating like a pig in the sun at this point but it calmed down rarity.
on the boat...
pinkie was bouncing up and down in excitement, rainbow dash was napping, apple jack was sharpening her great sword and cleaning it from yesterday's hunt, fluffy was staring at the fish at the side of the boat and Rex was picking which weapon to use and Fluttershy was scared out of her mind.
"what's wrong Fluttershy?" Fluttershy turned around and saw Rex. "nothing, just scared that's all. what will happen when we go up against this dragon?" Rex sighed and smiled. "well assuming none of us die, once it's dead, you can use this boat and you and your friends can go home." Fluttershy's eye's opened wider in shock. "i don't want my friends to die! can't we just move the dragons some were else?" Rex moved his head in disagreement. "just hope for the best, use these items when you need to. the red horn is used before battle and the green one for when were all injured, if that happens of course." Fluttershy nodded meackley and smiled.
applejack walked over to pinkie and tried to talk to her. "hay there sugar cube." pinkie continued to bounce. "why'd you bring Fluttershy?" "because she said she would help me with my bow thingy. that and this whole hunt will be super fun!" applejack's face went to confusion at this statement. "besides, if anything bad was to happen, my pinkie sense would go off." applejack sighed in relief, knowing that pinkie was right. no bad pinkie sense means no one is gonna get eaten.
a few hours later...
they arrived at the volcano area and got off the boat, not before fluffy woke up Rainbowdash by knocking her into the water. "stupid bucking raptor thing" dash said with glaring eye's at fluffy. "ahh good job fluffy, i would of done it my self you know." Rex laughed and so did fluffy. "we'll set up camp on that hill over there and tommorow, we can the dragon, go home, have some fish and maybe have a drink or two, then we'll do other stuff, now come on already. everyone nodded and followed Rex.
once they got to camp, everyone sat down and planned ahead. Rainbowdash was sharpening her blade again, and placing a funny talisman on her sword. for some reason, the blade seemed to stronger to her, she didn't know why but it looked stronger. applejack also placed a funny looking talisman on her great sword and gave it a test swing on a burnt tree, slicing it in two. "hay Rex, my blades a lot sharper then usual, what's going on?" asked apple jack.
"hmm? oh it's the talisman you put on you sword. talismans add affects to weapons and Armour. mine for example, allows me to sense were large monsters are." Rex looked over to the volcano. "and the beast is near the volcano. rest for a bit, the we'll head off." Rainbowdash was way ahead with this and already asleep. applejack went to sleep rather quickly as well, thinking about what will happen. pinkie went to sleep... while continuing to hop, still excited for the hunt. Fluttershy couldn't sleep though. she was frightened, scared for her life and her friends. "i can't do this, i can't do this!" Fluttershy thought as she started to whimper.
Rex came over to Fluttershy and sat beside her. "fluttershy, i know your scared, but just calm down. i promise nothing bad will happen." Rex tried to reassure Fluttershy but was met with Fluttershy becoming more worried. "you can't promise that though. that dragon will hurt everyone and i can't do anything about it." Rex got out a flute and gave it to Fluttershy. "look, you can't fight but if we get in trouble, use this flute and we'll run back to camp okay?" "so i won't be fighting?" Fluttershy was hoping for a yes. "oh heck no, that flute stuns monsters for ten seconds. just use that and we'll escape back here okay." Fluttershy sighed in relief and fell asleep soon after.
fluffy had fallen asleep so Rex fell asleep on fluffy and used him as a pillow. "the advantage of having a giant raptor. they make a excellent pillow." he said as he went to sleep.
a few hours later...
everyone had woken up and was heading to the volcano, the heat making the journey even harder then it already was. "come on, let's go super fast! the sooner we get there, the sooner... wait what are we doing again?" Rex sigh in annoyance or just from pinkies forgetful ability. "were hunting a ruthian pinkie, and were almost at the top so prepare your selves." everypony got out there weapons and prepared them selves for battle.
they made it to the top and were ready for the beast. "were is this ruthian anyway?" applejack asked, a bit frustrated at not finding the beast. "somethings off here-" Rex was saying before the winged beast came down from the sky's, cloaked in fire as if it had come from the deepest bowls of hell it self. "everypony, get ready for battle!" rex said, know that this battle will be a long one...
the beast was in sight, it's eye's flaring with the will to fight, slaughter, main and burn. what stood in it's path was five pony's and a raptor, if it killed them, nothing would stand in it's path of destruction.
Rainbowdash gripped her sword tightly with her hooves, Applejack picked up her massive blade and prepared to assault the giant fire breathing dragon, Pinkie was laughing her head off and making funny faces at the creature. Fluttershy was hiding behind Pinkie in fear of the dragon.
Rex got out his blade that magically caught fire. he got on fluffy and prepared for battle.
"bring it on!" rainbow dash yelled before charging at the dragon. they both hit the beast at the same time but did no damage. the dragon roared, sending Rainbowdash and applejack back a few steps.
fluffy and Rex charged at the dragon, with Rex leaping off fluffy and landing on it's back and starting to stab it, but the dragon payed no attention to him and started fighting applejack and Rainbowdash.
it lunged at applejack but applejack blocked with her great sword with the beast biting on it. "ha! you dang varmint, pinkie shoot this thing!" pinkie nodded and fired twenty nine standard shots at the beast but to now effect. the beast roared and sent applejack flying off her sword and into a rock. the ruthian then shattered the sword in one bite.
it's mouth started lighting up and applejack could see the flames in it's mouth. she wanted to move but was too terrified to move, that and her leg was broken as well.
Rainbowdash slashed at the creature about several times, each time inflicting small bleeding wounds, which got the creatures attention to dash. she slashed again and again and again but they were doing some damage at least.
Rex got out some bombs and stuck them on the beast. Rex jumped of the beast and threw a flaming knife at the bombs and a massive explosion on to the beast happened.
"yes! it's dead!" Rainbowdash cheered in excitement, but soon dodged a giant fireball of death that was aimed at her. the dragon had survived the giant explosion and charged at Rainbowdash, but pinkie fired a dozen sleep shots at the beast, making it drowsy and rather sleepy but it quickly snapped out of it and swung it's tail round, sending Rex, Rainbowdash and applejack to the wall. pinkie tried hitting the dragon with the gun but the dragon just flicked pinkie to the wall.
Fluttershy started to panic and was starting to get dizzy. "no no no!" she got out the whistle and the beast turned it's attention to Fluttershy. "come and get me you big meanie!" Fluttershy threw a rock at the ruthian and ran away to make the beast follow her, and the beast gave chase.
Rainbowdash got her sword and jumped on the back of the creature and started to stab but as before, the creature didn't notice her and still chased Fluttershy.
in no time at all, Fluttershy has lead the beast to the volcano. "come on you meanie" the ruthian leapt at Fluttershy, but she moved out of the way, picked up dash and watched as the creature fell to it's death, melting in the lava.
Rainbowdash cheered and in celebration. "Fluttershy, that was the most incredible thing I've ever seen! your the bravest Pegasus ever!" Rainbowdash hugged Fluttershy and smiled. "your the best friend i could ever ask for!" Fluttershy started to cry tears of joy but everything started to go wavy and faddish...
Fluttershy woke up in her bed in her home in pony vile and smiled. "i love that dream. so nice. too bad it would never happen though." she smiled again and went back to sleep, dreaming about more adventures.
