A crossover between Planetary Annhilation and MLP. Also my first work of fiction. A long-deactivated commander is awoken by a supernova and hurtled to Equis, where it promptly sets up shop. Chaos ensues as the residents discover it.

My first fanfiction, and my first work of fiction in general. Criticism of any sort is highly appriciated.
Equis. A world that, aside from a select few small conflicts, knows nothing of conflict, much less war. However, that all changes suddenly as an ancient remnant of a long-forgotten race's intergalactic war is revived by a dying star and hurtled toward Equestria. This Commander will cause untold chaos in Equis as the planet's inhabitants find that there is a new being residing here. A giant, quadrupedal metal being fashioned by an ancient race for the purpose of waging a war long forgotten. Nopony can tell you what that will do to the planet's politics, but one thing is certain: The group that ends up with it on their side after the dust settles will end up with power beyond their wildest dreams.

Now, before we start, I would like to inform the reader of a few things. First of all, shis is both my first work of fiction and my first fanfiction, so keep that in mind while reading this story. Secondly, as it is my first story, there will almost certainly be errors galore. Now when you spot one, feel free to mention it in a review. In fact, please do! And if it is a characterization error and/or something doesn't make sense, you have the author's permission to use caps lock and up to five (5) exclamation points. After doing so, please detail where the problem is located and how you think it could be better. I will try to be a prompt as possible in fixing any errors. Thirdly, the title probably sucks. I am well aware of this, and would like input on a better name. Now, onto the fanfiction!
[Deep Space] [Star System Ormal] [Commander Osiris 252] [Galactic Time 03-30-5000 AGW (After Galactic War) 1:75] {Command Vessel 252}
In the endless black void of space, the vessel of commander Osiris 252 hung lifeless, orbiting a vast red giant star at the end of its lifetime. In a massive multicolored blast of light and energy, the star detonated into a supernova, hurling the inactive ship at near-light speed toward a small white point in the distance.
The energy from the stars death did more than just launch the vessel, however. The onboard power cells, long since discharged, were suddenly filled to capacity. And as the ship hurtled through space, it began the long, slow process of reconstructing itself.

Twilight Sparkle stood in her home, gazing through her telescope at a certain red star approximately five thousand light-years away. As she watched the star, she had her dragon assistant, Spike, write notes for her.
"Ready Spike? Okay, here we go, 'Day seven of observation of late-stage star Sparkle: There has been little change to the star's appearance, although it apears very close to the end of its life. The redshift and apparent brightness have remained steady.' Got all that?", Twilight Sparkle said.
Spike promptly responded in the affirmative, and proceeded to ask, "It's soo late. Can we go to bed now?".
Twilight Sparkle answered with "Yes, you head on over to bed. I'll just be a moment longer." With a sigh at the purple alicorn's absorbtion in her task, Spike headed off to his bed.
As Twilight watched the star, she gasped in surprise as she witnessed it explode in a massive supernova full of light and energy. Rushing to her noted she quickly wrote "At 10:53 PM, the star Sparkle died in a breathtaking supernova, as I watched! This may possibly be the first time anypony has witnessed the death of a star. Must check Canterlot library first thing tomorrow!". As she finally headed to her bed for some well-deserved sleep, Twilight dreampt of the wonder she had just seen and hoped that she could claim the glory of being the first pony in recorded history to witness a supernova as it occured. As she deampt of such things, it never even crossed her mind that such an event might herald the coming of something that no being on the face of Equis had ever dreampt of.

It had been six months after Twilight had witnessed the supernova created by a dying star. Today was a new day, and Celestia had just risen the sun, just like every other day. Today, however, was not an ordinary day. Today Twilight was woken from her slumber by the sound of Spike recieving a letter from Princess Celestia. Twilight, recognizing the sound, woke up right away, and picked up the letter with her magic. The letter was a summons to Canterlot, as the Princess had some very important news for her. Twilight promptly began to get ready for a trip to the castle at Canterlot.

As the train neared the station at Canterlot, Twilight once again thought back to the summons she had recieved, and wondered about what news the Princess could possibly have recieved that required her immidiate attention. Her thoughts were interrupted by the train's whistle, announcing their arrival at Canterlot. Not being able to wait a moment longer to know than she had to, Twilight ran out of the train and toward the castle. Upon her arrival, the Princess greeted her and thanked her for her prompt arrival.
Twilight asked the Princess "What news do you have? Has Discord been acting up? Has Sombra reappeared? Has somepony escaped Tartarus?"
Celesta answered her, "No nothing as immidiatlely dangerous as any of that. I have simply been tracking an object that has been nearing Equis at incredible speed, which simply vanished about 10 light-years out. According to calculations regarding its speed and tragectory, it should be impacting sometime today. I want you to watch the skies for any sign of this object."
To this Twilight responded, "I can do that. If I see any sign of it, I will have Spike send a message to you right away. Was that all?"
Once Celestia responded in the affirmative, Twilight left the castle and boarded a train back to Ponyville.

After over five thousand years of repairs and travel, the vessel had successfully rpaired itself, and parked itself in geosyncronous orbit around the planet Equis. As it orbited the planet, the commander residing within the vessel looked for an area to touch down on. After just over half an hour of searching and evaluating, te commander kept the vessel above the everfree forest and prepared to disembark.

The forest which was to be the landing site for the Osiris Commander was a heavily wooded area of the Everfree forest. The only sounds were the night animals hunting and avoiding hunters. Then, suddenly, a bright red light came out of the heavens, smashing into the ground with such force as to vaporize all plant life within 500 meters, as well as killing almost all animal life in that area as well. The impact generated enough heat to set the plant life at the edge of the crater on fire instantly. After the dust settled, the only thing in the center of the shallow crater created was the massive four-legged metal form of Osiris Commander 252.

The morning after the Commander's arrival an Equis, Twilight Sparkle got up as Celestia once again raised the sun over Equestria. Still blissfully unaware of the alien being which now resided on this world, Twilight was soon to discover the effects of the events which transpired late at night in the Everfree. After she got up, Twilight roused Spike from his slumber and began her normal morning routines. Several minutes later, as Twilight was munching a particularily tasty bun, there was an urgent knock at the door. Twilight trotted over to the door and opened it, and was slightly surprised when she discovered that it was Zecora at the door rather than one of her friends.
"What brings you here Zecora?" she asked.
Zecora responded in her trademark rhyming speech, "I have news that might amaze: the Everfree forest has been set ablaze".
Twilight, who was indeed slightly amazed, asked, "How far have the flames reached? How large is the fire? Is your house or Fluttershy's in immidiate danger?"
To this Zecora said "The blaze is yet far, Ponyvilles pegasi should be up to par".
Twilight then asked Zecora "Do you know what started the fire?".
Zecora then said "The origins of these flames I cannot find. But maybe one of your friends will know, the one who is kind".
Twilight then rushed off to Fluttershy's house to see if she knew what had started such an event.

When Twilight arrived at Fluttershy's house, she asked Fluttershy if she knew what had caused the fire. Fluttershy said that she wasn't sure, but that some of her animal friends told her of a big metal thing that crashed in the deeps of the forest and caused the fire. Twilight thanked her for that useful bit of information and decided that if a 'big metal thing' had crashed to the ground somewhere in the Everfree, her best bet at finding it was Rainbow Dash. And she knew just where to find her...

After a short flight over the Everfree, Twilight spotted her friend Rainbow Dash. She was, of course, helping out the firefighting pegasi. It looked like they were very close to putting out the fire, having already contained it in one place. As she flew closer, Rainbow spotted her and flew over.
"Hey there Twilight!" Rainbow greeted her, "What brings you out here?"
Twilight replied "There you are! I've been looking for you. I need to ask you a favor."
"Sure Twilight, what is it?, Rainbow asked.
"I need you to do a quick fly-over of the Everfree. Fluttershy said that some of her animal friends told her that some 'big metal thing' crashed in the Everfree and started this fire. If something did crash into the Everfree, it would have left a crater somewhere in the interior."
"Sure thing Twilight!" Rainbow replied.

As Rainbow Dash zoomed over the Everfree forest, she noticed that, curiously, most of the forest seemed unharmed by the fire. She filed this curiosity away into her mental 'Curiosities of the Everfree' folder. After a very short time, she noticed that there was what appeared to be a large clearing a little ways to her right. As she banked toward it, she began to see some sort of metal structures with a red on black color scheme. Some of these structures had what looked like long cannons or groups of cannons at the top, some of the others were shorter and had big metal boxes with lots of holes or four long thin cannons evenly spaced. A few of them had a long top part that moved up and down through a hole in the ground. She flew around this clearing and the metal structures, giving them a wide berth. She flew higher to get a better view, and began to see what looked like some sort of metal town, with many metal creatures moving around and doing... something. She saw that one, the biggest, strode around on four massive metal legs and seemed to be the leader. She quickly turned back and flew off to tell Twilight of this development.

Twilight had been waiting FOREVER for Rainbow to get back! Okay, perhaps it hadn't been quite forever. Maybe it had only been about two minutes. But still! Two minutes was a long time to wait for news on whatever had happened in the Everfree!
As Twilight seached the skies for Rainbow, she finally spotted her coming back from an angle that would have taken her deep into the Everfree. Twilight, unable to wait any longer, flew toward Rainbow.
When she met up with her, Twilight asked "Was there anything there? Was there?"
Rainbow answered "Yeah there was! There was a big crater alright, but it wasn't empty. You'll never guess what was there!"
"What was it? A big hunk of metal?"
"No." Rainbow said with a chuckle "Nothing as boring as that."
"Was it... an alien spaceship?" Twilight excitedly asked.
"Closer, but it was even cooler than an alien ship!"
"What..? I can't think of anything cooler than an alien spaceship..."
"It was a whole alien city made totally out of metal! With metal buildings and metal creatures and everything!"
"Whoa!" Twilight gasped "No way!"
"Yes way!" Rainbow exclaimed!
"Ohmygoshthisissocool!" Twilight giddily exclaimed "a whole alien city! Right here in Equestria! We have to tell Celestia right away!" And with that, she flew straight back to Fluttershy's cottage, where she had left Spike.

As soon as Twilight spotted Spike, she made a beeline for him. "Take a message to the Princess, Spike." Once he indicated that he was ready, She began, "Dear Princess Celestia, There has been an incident in the Everfree. What appears to be an alien race of metalic beings have built a small colony in an impact crater deep in the Everfree's core. I think that they might have been the object that was noticed coming toward us. I eagerly await your response, Princess. Signed, Princess Twilight Sparkle". "Alright Spike, send it to the Princess right away Spike." Spike complied, sending the scroll flying on its way to Princess Celestia in a burst of dragonfire. Mere seconds later, the Princess's response arrived, "My dearest student Twilight Sparkle, This is indeed astonishing news. I and my sister will get a diplomatic party together right away. Keep an eye on the aliens until then. --Celestia".

This time Rainbow Dash was the impatient one of the group of all six of Twilight's best friends as they waited for the Princess' diplomatic party to arrive.
"How much longer until they get here?" complained Ranbow Dash, "It's been forever!"
For what seemed for the thousandth time, Twilight again reminded Rainbow that "It's only been 5 minutes since Princess's letter arrived."
"You know you don't need to call me that, Twilight." came the gently chiding and slightly amused voice of Princess Celestia.
"Of course Prin- Celestia", a slightly startled Twilight Sparkle answered, "I wasn't expecting you so soon."
To this Celestia said, "Well, it would hardly do to keep Equestria's newest residents waiding, now would it?"
"No, of course not!" Twilight said, "Just follow Rainbow, she knows where they are."

Osiris 252 was curious. Several minutes ago, an unknown being entered just within visual range of its outermost turrets. According to sensors, it was an organic being which appeared to be some type of equine. Eye usage and head size of the being indicates possible intelligence, and the beings behavior indicated that it was most likely rather intelligent, possibly even sentient. Protocol indicated that possible sentients were to be assumed neutral, and as such regarded as possible allies. Hostility would be determined case-by-case, such that an individual's actions would not overly affect general standing.
Approxamately six minutes after this first sighting, a small group of beings approached. They appeared to represent four different, yet related, species. Two of them were roughly standard equines, another two had wings, the next one had a horn, and the last three had both wings and horns, and two of those were larger than the others. Behavior analysis indicated that the two largest beings held some important standing among them, as well as confirming their sentience. As expected, the language utilized by them was unknown to the commander, and so it began to translate words and store them in an internal dictionary.

As the alien colony came into view, Twilight was amazed at its size, especially given that it had arrived only very recently. Apperently Celestia had the same though, as she said "Rather... larger than I expected."
Rainbow said, "I think it might have actually grown since last I saw it."
Celestia replied "In that short span of time? It hardly seems possible."
"Oh, I hope that no innocent little animals got hurt while they were expanding.", Fluttershy said in a very small voice.
As they flew toward the base, they saw what looked like a big metal bird with fixed wings flew toward them. "It would seem that they are sending out the welcoming committee", said Princess Celestia. The flying metal thing rapidly met the small group. Once there, however, it simply hovered in front of them.
Princess Celestia stepped forward on their chariot, and said, "Greetings, unknown being. I am Princess Celestia."
Each member of the party said their name in turn. The metal thing simply hovered there for a few seconds, but then it suddenly said something. "Greetings Princesses", it said in a metalic-sounding voice devoid of all emotion and inflection.
"Hello, and what might your name be? And how can you speak our language?", Princess Celestia replied.
The voice said, "I speak little of you language. Know what you speak. No know how speak name."
"So you can only say words that you hear us say?", asked Princess Celestia.
"No know word of that.", it replied.
"Oh, right, I haven't said yes yet, have I? Sorry."
"Yes, I can only say words that you say."
"So what is your ruler's title? Count? General? King? Prince? Queen? Princess? Emperor? Empress? Something else?"
"You are the ruler? Who is the big guy in the base then? Second-in-command?"
"The 'big guy' is I. I speak to you with this one."
"So this person is a messenger then? And you are talking through her without being present? That is an interesting bit of magic."
"Not magic. Is other. And this one is not a person."
"So it's inanimate? And you are causing it to move and speak with what? Science? Sorcery?"
"I cause with science. I am also inanimate, yet I think."
"So you are a thinking being made out of inanimate metal? How extraordinary!"
"Yes. Move with this one."
"Follow it? Where are we going?"
"Into base."
Chapter 3

As the group of ponies entered the base, they marveled at its high density and the multitude of flying being zooming about. Some had much bigger wings than the first one that had met them, some of them had unusual objects underneath them that looked like fat metal arrows, and some of them had black and yellow stripes. And then there were the structures: there were tall towers with cannons on their tops, shorter towers with big box-like things with many compartments, tall structures that looked like all-metal versions of Griffon oil extractors, and there were cubic ones that appeared to glow with a bluish light. Deeper in, they beheld where all these creatures were coming from, and it was quite unexpected. Large blocky structures with rotating rings appeared to be creating them with some sort of green energy. Very shortly they reached the center of the base, and there the commander was.

The Commander watched as the group of equines approached. Based on their speech and actions, he was able to conclude that they were probably a diplomatic party sent to investigate Alpha Base. As such, they were probable allies. Once the group arrived, he greeted them. After receiving a greeting in return from the one identified as Celestia, title Princess, he inquired about who the others were. She replied, "Well, the cyan Pegasus is Rainbow Dash, the orange Earth pony is Applejack, the yellow Pegasus is Fluttershy, my sister Alicorn here is Princess Luna, Princess Twilight Sparkle is the Ascended Unicorn, Rarity is the white Unicorn, and Pinkie Pie is the pink Earth pony."
The Commander then asked, "So you are multiple ruling system?"
"Yes. So, will you be staying here, or...?"
"Yes. Therefore an alliance is logical."
"Well, yes, I suppose so. I can-"
The one identified as Pinkie Pie interrupted at this point, "Sorry for interrupting Princess, but the author doesn't know what more to say and I need to throw a Welcome-Alien-Visitor-To-Equestria party!"
The Commander asked, "Who is 'author'?"
"Why, he's the one writing the story, silly!"
At this point Twilight interjected, "Just don't ask."
The Commander replied, "Okay. I have one request: to get a book of words in your language."
Twilight replied, "A dictionary? I think I have one. I'll go grab it."
Twilight then vanished in a flash of violet light, and Celestia then presented the Commander with a treaty that they had drafted for just such an occasion.
"So here's a suggestion. I'll leave it with you to look over and you can let me know your decision later."
The Commander answered, "That will not be needed." He then emitted a green line of light from one of his arms which scanned the document, then signed it in monospaced block font.
"...That was fast.", said Celestia as Twilight returned.
Twilight said, "Here's the dictionary you asked for.", holding out a book entitled Mareiam-Webster Dictionary. The Commander rapidly scanned the entirety of the book in less than a second, and then thanked Twilight, who was blinking in surprise.
"I can now speak fluently.", stated the Commander.
Celestia replied, "That's good. We need to attend to other matters of state, so we will return for an extended meeting when an opening comes up."
"That sounds satisfactory."
The diplomatic party then started heading back to Ponyville, and the the Princesses Celestia and Luna would return to Canterlot.

That simpering griffon was finally in place now, and the targets were approaching. It seemed that their informer, whoever he was, was reliable. He didn't know why their targets had decided to come here unguarded, and he didn't care. All he cared about was that he'd be paid handsomely for taking them out. His team, composed of himself and another pegasus, a unicorn, and a griffon, was hidden around the area, ready to ambush their targets as they passed above. A couple more minutes, and the hiding would end. He couldn't wait.
