Barbie gets PONIFIED! This is a cross between Barbie: the Princess and the Popstar / Barbie: The Princess and the Pauper. This is in the Equestria Girls universe and includes Alicorn Twilight.
Barbie stars as Rainbow Shimmer, (yes she's back from "The Secret Alicorn") the sports manager for Canterlot High. This means she organizes all the games and plays on all the teams. But she wants to have a life like Rainbow Dash's or Twilight's. Normality.
Rainbow Dash is a little jealous of Rainbow Shimmer's. She gets on all the teams because of her mother, Principal Celestia. She likes being the Captain of everything, but she wishes she could be like Rainbow Shimmer.
But the girls dream might come true... And switch out for one day.
"And why can't I go to the dance?" I asked my mother for the millionth time. "Finish your scheduling," my mom answered. The same reply every time. "I already have." I pick up the paper and hand it to her. I hated scheduling games and tournaments for Canterlot High. It wasn't fun at all, but my mom made me do it anyways. "Okay, you may go, Rainbow Shimmer," mom sighed. "Yes!" I ran to my ginormous room and grabbed a long, floor-length blue halter neck dress- it was ice blue, so I added some ice to sparkle. I then pulled all my hair back into a high ponytail and ran out the door. I didn't stop running until I reached the school cafeteria, where the Winter Blitz dance was. We would also find out who won the Princess of Winter. Twilight and her friends would also perform a song they wrote. I looked down at my dress- sparkly and not poofy. Just how I like it.
The cafeteria had a table in the front with microphones for the Princess of Winter and Twilight's song. There was also a disco ball in the middle of the room, and punch and cake on the left. The other parts were more dance parts. There were lots of paper snowflakes everywhere in the room and fake snow on the floor next to a drawing of an ice castle.
"Glad you could make it!" Rainbow Dash elbowed me. "But why are you so late?" "Scheduling,"' I reply. "Bleah." "Anyways, did you remember your baton?" Twilight asked. "No, but I'll bright back." I walked out and raided the gym for my baton. I was going to do baton twirling for their song. I grabbed my baton- it had tape around it, mostly school colors- blue and gold. I brought it back to Twilight and her friends.
"Where's Principal Celestia?" One girl asked. "I thought she would be here." "Oh!" Rainbow Shimmer groaned. "Remember when she made that stupid announcement that our secretary, Cadance, was pregnant? She and Aunt Luna are staying at our house with her!" "Do something!" Fluttershy whimpered. "It's your-" "Responsibility. I know." I replied, running onstage. "Good luck!" Twilight Sparkle, called. "Guys!" I tapped the microphone. "My mom's gone for now busy. Now we'll hear from Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Applejack with their new song Shake Your Tail!" I moved over to the side and started doing figure eights on the ground in front of the table as the girls began to sing. "Shake your tail, Cause we're here to have a party tonight!" Twilight sang as I did took the baton around in a circle, threw it up and spun twice. I then smiled and caught it, smiling.
After the song, Twilight came over and said, "You did great." and smiled at me. "Thanks," I replied. People started swarming their band. I walked down to the gym and put my baton back. I wasn't jealous of how popular they were! I thought about my mom. Everyone knew her- in the country. In Equestria, most people called her "queen" or "princess," which made ME royalty. "Princesses wanna have fun," I thought. "Oh, princesses wanna have fun!"
I walked back to the cafeteria, otherwise my friends would know something was wrong. There I noticed Rainbow Dash- in a DRESS. A short, one-strap red dress. And of course Rarity was wearing a floor-length, fancy, poofy purple dress while Fluttershy, on the other hand was wearing a simple yellow dress- not attracting any attention. Pinkie Pie was wearing pink, of course. Applejack had a blue skirt and white top on and Twilight was wearing her Fall Formal dress. They looked like they were having fun. I was, too.
I was away from my mother. Finally. But nothing can stay great- she walked up to announce the Princess of Winter. The contestants were me, Sunlight Breeze and Amethyst. We had to walk onto a table.
"The Princess of Winter is Rainbow Shimmer!" Mom announced. I sighed and walked up to receive the stupid crown, which poked me in the head. After that, my friends were the only people who were fussing about the Princess of Winter. I'm not really popular. Those six girls were my only friends. The other girls were talking about the performance. I knew my secret crush, Moonlit Star, would never like me. He had dark blue skin, black hair and green eyes. In Equestria, he was a pegasus- I had been there once.
A slow song began to play. Twilight and Flash were dancing, Fluttershy and Big Macintosh, Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich, Rarity and Fancy Pants. Rainbow Dash and I didn't have boyfriends, so we just giggled.
"Hey, have you made up the schedule for swimming?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Yeah, but it's at home," I replied, glancing at Moonlit Star who was over with his buddies. "Why?" "I'm on the swim team, remember?" Rainbow Dash answered.
Then I saw it. Moonlit Star was gazing at RAINBOW DASH. Not me. It's no wonder that would happen, so I just kept talking.
My tiara fell off my head. I pulled it off the ground and put it on my head. It was a little crooked but I didn't care. The song ended, and my friends walked back over. I sat on the bench a little ways off. I watched more and more people walk over to Twilight.
"Hey, I loved that song you sang!" Topaz, a girl with orange hair and skin, smiled. "Way better than Principal Celestia's daughter... Rainbow Stupid or whatever. She can barely twirl that stick. I have never voted her for Princess of Winter."
I then stood up, turned tail and ran. I heard my tiara clatter behind me and the cafeteria doors slam, but I just kept running. I'm not well liked ever since I accidentally froze the town when I got announced as sports manager, and ran off for a while. My friends had turned tail, all except for the ones I have now. Life's not fair at all. I didn't know where to run, but my feet took me to my secret hideout:
The room connected to my mom's office. A secret hideout for me where I could do anything I wanted.
I opened the door to the room. It was small, so I had to crouch down. It lead to a bigger room that I had painted yellow. I sat down in one of the ten chairs I had hauled down- a red chair. I just sat and cried. I remembered that Topaz used to be one of my closest of friends until, as I like to call it, "The Incident." It was an accident, but Topaz turned against me. It was an accident! I guess she doesn't understand that.
Life wasn't fair. And I had left my baton on a cafeteria table. Oh well! I don't care about what they'll say. I'm me and I can choose who I want to be, where I live.
Soon, I heard running footsteps. Like, possibly six pairs. My friends? Here?
"Rainbow Shimmer!" That was Twilight's voice! "Come out! We want to talk!" "Go away!" I replied. I heard the door open. I quickly dried off my tears and stood up. "Rainbow Shimmer! What happened to you?!" Rarity ran over and tilted my head up. "Why were you crying? Are you okay?" "Topaz," I answered, turning away. "Topaz happened." "Oh, she's just a big meanie!" Fluttershy pushed a chair over next to me and sat down. "I'm not really liked around here; all I have are you guys!" I cry, tears streaming down my face. "Hey, I'm not liked either," Twilight lies. "Yeah you are," I look up. "You're the lead singer of your band!" "Everyone's not smart if they don't like you!" Rainbow Dash smiles. "Even someone like me knows that." "I should go home." I stand up. "Good night." "No!" Applejack grabs my wrist. "That is not happening. You are staying with us!" "After Topaz happened, we told Princess Celestia," Twilight narrates. "She walked over to Topaz and took her somewhere. I don't know where, but she was defiantly in serious trouble. Then we came after you- you're our friend!" "I have an idea! We were going to have a sleepover at my house, but now we can include you! Here." Rarity hands me her purple iPhone 5C. "Call your mom. Ask her." "My mom's in the cafeteria," I roll my eyes. "And I know where I'm not wanted and don't belong. I should transfer to Ponyville High south of here. I'd get to start over and maybe have more friends." "We're your friends," Rainbow Dash slaps me on the back, "We'd never leave you hanging." "Come back with us," Twilight begged. "Please. We'll show you that you belong. We'll show you that you're welcome here."
"Fine," I sighed. "If it'll get you guys to stop begging. I can't take it! And Rarity, let's ask my mom about the sleepover." We all walked back to the cafeteria, but only Rarity and I asked my mom about the slumber party. "Um, Princess Celestia?" Rarity asked. "May Rainbow Shimmer please come to my house for a slumber party?" "Of course she may!" my mom answered. "I have your mother's phone number."
Rarity then led me over to the other girls. They took a quick glance at us and all ran off. I sighed. Twilight walked over to the other girls. "If you can't accept my friend Rainbow Shimmer, then you're not a true friend," I heard Twilight say. "She almost killed you! She could kill me!" One of the girls turned her back on Twilight. That's a first! "Whatever. You're not invited to our slumber party," Rarity scoffed. "And she is!"
"I wonder how I earned the Princess of the Winter Blitz. I know my mom makes me run but.." I rolled my eyes. "It's a popularity contest." "Because you are popular!" Twilight smiled. "No I'm not!" I replied, sighing. "Maybe they're afraid I'm going to freeze them all to death!" "They know you'd never do that!" Fluttershy spoke up, placing her gentle hand on my shoulder. "C'mon! Let's do something fun!" Pinkie jumped high in the air. "I'll be right back!" I smiled, turning tail to find my tiara that had clattered behind me.
I walked to the door and started looking. No tiara. I opened the door and looked still no tiara. Then I saw something- something shiny on the admissions table. Someone had set my tiara there. I snatched it and walked back into the cafeteria. I walked back over to my friends. I smiled.
"You got your crown back!" Rarity exclaimed. "It's beautiful. Why aren't you wearing it?" "The only reason I looked for it was because I thought you should have it. I have others at home." I answered, holding it out to Rarity. "I can't take it. You keep it!" Rarity smiled. "Yes, you can." I place the crown on her head. "Princess Rarity." "Ooh. I like the sound of that!" Rarity adjusted the tiara on her head.
After the dance finishes up, we walk out of the cafeteria and into the parking lot. And I like Rarity's car. Er... limo that is. Fashionable and sleek, it matches with Rarity's fashionable personality. I watch Rainbow Dash roll her eyes.
"Rarity, when did you get a limo?" Rainbow Dash asked, looking at the sleek car. "I've always had it," Rarity answered. "You never noticed?" Rainbow Dash shook her head. I laughed.
Inside the nice car were leather seats. Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie and Twilight rode up front. Rarity, Fluttershy and I rode one row behind them. I knew this would be fun. "So girls, first on the agenda is..." Rarity began. "Snacks!" Pinkie interrupted. "Reading!" Twilight exclaimed. "Um... animals?" Fluttershy suggested. "Roping!" Applejack shrugged. "None of those!" Rainbow Dash laughed. "Who can run the most laps in Rarity's backyard!" "Baton twirling?" I grinned awkwardly. "Fashion show," Rarity smiled. "In my room. Oh, we're here!"
The car pulled up to Carousel Boutique, and we all walked inside. Sweetie Belle, Rarity's younger sister was probably staying the night with her friends. Rarity led us up the stairs and into her bedroom. It was very... purple!
Rarity opened her closet and pushed us one by one into the closet, which was huge. I grabbed a dress that looked like one of my majorette outfits. Wait! I thought. It isn't my majorette costume from last year after all... Oh well. I stared at the short pink dress with silver sequins. I found the bathroom in her house and got dressed.
When I walked out, I felt like I was back on the field, performing in the lights as Captain of the majorettes. The one sport I was better at than Rainbow Dash. She had been so surprised when I beat her.
"Okay!" Rarity clapped her hands once everyone was dressed. "Now for hair and makeup." Rarity then pointed to a round table with seven chairs around it, and I sat down.
I looked at the choices, remembering my costume. I had worn silver eyeshadow, pink lipstick and black mascara in my routine. But it was time to try something new. So I put on some silver eyeshadow and lip gloss. I had remembered my baton, and picked it up off the ground. I remembered that twirl-off against Rainbow Dash... All in good fun.
"And the spin-off begins!!" Pinkie Pie screamed. "Rainbow Shimmer versus Rainbow Dash!" I started doing a horizontal one-spin. Rainbow Dash copied me but did a two-spin, so I did the horizontal two-spin and kept the baton spinning on my palm. "Go, Rainbow Dash! Go, Rainbow Shimmer!" Rarity called out.
Next came a split-toss from Rainbow Dash- toss and catch in the splits. Then came a somersault-splits twist from me. Then came a two-spin from an around-the-world from me. Then came a three-spin from another around-the-world from Rainbow Dash. I could tell she really wanted to win. Finally, I had had enough and I was going to do my premier event: the seven-spin. Not too many people could stay on balance and catch the baton like that... but I had started at age four. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven! I had pulled it off! The seven spin! Rainbow Dash has her mouth open and was staring.
"Dash? You got anything?" I asked. "Uh... Yeah!" Rainbow Dash started to twirl again. One. Two. Three. Four. Fi- ooh! I thought. The baton had come down and just laid there.
"Rainbow Shimmer?" a voice asked. "Equestria to Rainbow Shimmer!" Twilight was in front of me. I shook my head. "Sorry, I zoned off..." I giggled sheepishly. "That's okay," Twilight replied. "We're about to enter the runway, and Rarity has made this a Miss Carousel Boutique contest. Talent's first, and we still have time to change the normal way if we tell her.."
"I'm okay," I answered. "Thanks, though." I walked into the bathroom with my baton. Only Twilight, my mom and I knew about this. It was magical- I had requested a trip to her land to find someone enchant it so I didn't have to spend time changing on tight days. We had simply gone through the portal, Twilight enchanted it and we took it back to our own land.
I started twirling a horizontal in my right hand. Then I crouched down, still twirling, and slowly stood up, and my majorette dress from the football game against Baltimare appeared with silver flats. Pretty good, even though the home game dress would be Rarity's favorite.
"Rainbow Shimmer! How did you change so fast?" Rarity asked. "I don't know," I lied, shrugging. "I guess I'm used to hurries, rushes and that sort of stuff. I'm ready."
I started to walk onstage with my baton, doing simple figure eights as I walked on. Then, I started to hold one end and twirl it over my head and then under my legs. Then I did my signature seven spin again, smiling as I did it. Once I caught it, then I did the cartwheel toss- toss, cartwheel, catch. Easy!
Next came the evening gown contest. There were three of us left since only six people were competing. I changed into my winter-dance dress, walked out, spun around and walked back. Easy. I was the last to go, and I didn't really care if I won.
"And Third Place goes to... Twilight Sparkle!" Rarity announced. "Second to... Rainbow Shimmer! And first to... Fluttershy! Congratulations, girls!!" We all started clapping. I smiled and looked at Rariyy for our next event. "What next?" I asked Rarity.
"Truth or Dare!" came Rarity's reply. I went as pale as could be. I hated Truth or Dare ever since that one dare....
"Okay.." Topaz, my former friend smiled. "Rainbow Shimmer. Truth or dare?" "Dare!" I answered. Me and my big fat mouth. "I dare you to go T. P. someone's house!!" Topaz screeched.
I shuddered, remembering the memory. It was horrible... Topaz, Sunlight Crystal and I had gotten caught. Me and my former friends got caught T. P -ing the neighbor's house.
