His Flawed Masterpiece
"Twilight, I am so glad you could came, it has been too long!" Celestia said walking down the hall next to her most faithful student.
"I know Princess, I'm so happy! So I had this list pla-" Twilight begun before being hushed by her teacher
"Twilight" Celestia giggled "The reason I invited you here was so we could relax and talk, without a to-do list."
"But Princess! What if we get off track with our conversation or-"
"Twilight, I just wanted to have a cup of tea with a friend not a business conference."
"Sorry..."
"Twilight what I trying to say is loosen up, now come we-" She didn't finished. Because just before they passed the ballroom, they heard music beginning to play. The tune was sad slow and played on the piano. "Princess? Do you-" she cut herself off as the last voice she expected to hear began to sing.
"They used to call me monster; I made them call me king. I ruled in might and terror I could do anything. But monsters don't just happen. There's reasons that we're bad..." Discord sang softly, playing a grand piano that was set up a stage. His back was to the door, as the two alicorns peeked in. Twilight could not help but be drawn into the song,
"And now I can remember. The one that turned me mad. The one I called my Dad..."
"Dad?" Twilight whispered to herself, she quickly conjured up a note book and began jotting down notes.
Discord kept singing, unknown or uncaring of the two new listeners. "For, I am Starswirl's Frankenstein, I was his flawed masterpiece. He tried to conjure perfection. But a monster was all he released."
Twilight covered her mouth as she quickly took in a sharp breath. She scribbled down even more notes.
Smoke began to flow out from under the piano and off the stage."A genius but lonely magician. Was Starswirl the Bearded, the Great." A smoky image of Starswirl came out of the smoke in front of discord. "He was honored, respected" The images of ponies bowed to Starswirl, and some saluted. " a legend" and with that a book came up and clamped shut over the image.
"A master of wisdom and fate." The book flipped over to show Starswirl on the book's cover with a book and a fortune teller's ball in his magic..
"But the old mage didn't have one thing, Companionship" The book Faded away show Starswirl holding a baby colt. "he was alone." The baby colt vanished leaving Starswirl alone.
"So he thought that he could create it." Images of different animals in cages appeared and disappeared in the smoke. "The perfect heir, son of his own. If only, if only he'd known..." Yellow eyes and a sharp toothy grin appeared in the smoke.
"For, I am Starswirl's Frankenstein, I was his flawed masterpiece" A painting with a large crack appeared and the disappeared. "He tried to conjure perfection. But a monster was all he released" Than Starswirl appeared conjuring a rose but then formed into a torn-y cage. The cage door opened and a black shadow stepped out.
"From all different creatures he fashioned" Chalk written runes appeared on a smoke floor. Different animals in cages were on the different runes. "A wizard to beat all the rest" The Image didn't dissipate "Imbued him with powerful magic’s" The runes now had all different types of chemicals, gems, and spell books on them.
"So his son could rival the best. But when he breathed life to his creature" Starswirl filled he lungs with air and released it blowing away the image.
"His magic went out of control" Then his horn lit up a gold, a smile on his face. "From magic and chaos," The Image began to shack, Starswirl's face contorted with anger and frustration. "I wakened" Yellow eyes opened over the image. "Grinning and wild and whole..." A toothy grin a formed under the eyes. "And the world would soon know the toll."

Discord the left the piano, yet is still played. He danced around the ballroom floor. "Da da da" he sang along to the melody.
"Princess?" Twilight spoke up
"Huh wha-? Oh I'm sorry Twilight." Celestia fumbled braking from her trance. "It’s just so beautiful."
"I know how you feel. Who knew, Discord had it in him."
"I know I didn't."
"Princess? Do you think what he's saying is true."
"Maybe."
"Really?"
"Why would he lie to himself?"
"Good point. But Princess we should get going I think he's finishing up, and I don't want to be around when he finds out we were eavesdropping." But be for anything else could be said Discord began to sing once more.
"Thousands of years it has been. Since my daddy created me mad. But now that friendship was given." An image of Fluttershy came out of the smoke, and trotted over to the no longer dancing Discord.
Discord smiled and cradled the smoke Fluttershy's cheek. "His creation wasn't all bad" The Smoke Fluttershy smiled back.
"Perhaps my father is..." Discord looked up to the heavens. A single tear rolled down his cheek.
