Tavi

The sun was rising, the birds were singing. Octavia slowly opened her eyes and started to stretch her legs. She slowly came out of bed, and noticed she really had a good night sleep, which was pretty unusual for her these days. She had been working alot on her symphonies during the nights. The grey coloured pony walked to the kitchen to start up a breakfast while attempting to comb her messy mane. Damnit, she forgot to pick up some bread yesterday. Oh well, a glass of milk will do. Her house wasn't quite big, compared to most houses in Ponyville, not that she cared. After all, why would she need so much space? She was living by herself for already a couple years, ever since her mother passed away. She tried not to think about that awful, awful thought. But she couldn't help herself, she remembers it like it happened yesterday..

Octavia was in school. The rather boring teacher was explaining about something unimportant. She always had been above average compared to her classmates. Octavia didn't pay attention, she was working really hard on trying to write her first piece of music. She had always loved classical music since she was just a little filly. Her mother was a solo musican, who loved playing on her cello. She'd play cello every day around the house, Playing her own oh so well written symphonies. Octavia couldn't wait to go home. She just wanted to talk to her mother, they could talk nearly all day long about anything. She was so lovable and understanding. She not only saw her as a mother, but also as her best friend. Her only friend.. Octavia imagined her mum playing the cello, while smiling at her. Octavia wanted to show her Octavia's first ever music piece, Octavia wanted her to be proud of her accomplishing something. something she, just like her mum, really loved doing; writing music.

Suddenly, Octavia heard a loud ringing sound, it was the school bell. Octavia got excited after slowly realising this long school day was finally over. She quickly stood up just like everyone else, nearly running in the direction of the door. She was even more excited to see her mother again. With a big smile on her face, she walked home, not even noticing the weird looks her classmates gave her. Luckily she lived quite close to school, it was only a 5 minute walk. As she walked home she thought about how much she looks up to her mother. When I grow up I want to be just like her, she thought in herself. She is probably working on one of her new symphonies right now.

She finally reached her house, still having that big smile on her face. After opening her door, she realised it was noticably more quiet than usual. "mom?" After hearing no reaction, she tried again, now slowly beginning to panic. After again not getting a reaction she became desperate. She ran up the stairs, but, like she'd expected, Octavia coulnd't find her mum anywhere. Still, not accepting this awful thought, she ran down stairs, trying to look for any possosible clues of her mother not being home. She should be home right now, as she always works on her symphonies this time of the day.

She breathed in slowly, thinking about the possible scenaro's that could have happened. Maybe she is just buying groceries, and am I just overreacting for nothing, she thought. She has been looking forward to seeing her mother all day, a bit too long prehaps. She discided to wait, she could even work a little bit more on her own symphony, hoping to make her mother proud. She smiled by the thought of her overreacting so much only because her mother is probably doing groceries. She'll be here in maximum one hour, probably even less, Octavia said to herself. She walked to her rather small livingroom, and sat down trying to work on her symphony, still desperately thinking about her mother.

Octavia couldn't concentrate on her symphony at all, as the hour slowly past by. Trying to be as carefull as possible, she discided to play a bit on her mother's cello. The cello was standing in the corner of the livingroom, next to her mother's small bureau, which Octavia just noticed being more messy than usual. As she carefully grabbed her mother's cello, she noticed a paper lying on the bureau she had never seen before. It was simply titled: Tavi. It seemed to look like her mother's newest creation. She rushfully started to read through the symphony. Octavia could already read notes very well, her mother herself thaught her to. It was hard to imagine how it would sound like, so she grabbed the cello again and slowly started playing the piece. She wasn't as skillfull as her mother, but she still wasn't the worst. In fact, considering her age she is pretty damn good already. This piece sounded different than her mother's other pieces. This sounded so joyfully, but yet so sad at the same time. She shed a single tear, being touched way more than usual by her mother's artwork. She lost track of time, after nonstop playing nothing but that new piece. This instantly became Octavia's favourite symphony her mother had ever made, shedding another tear of joy. After her hooves starting to become soar, she discided to take a break. She wanted nothing but to fall in her mother's arms.. where was she anyways? She looked at the clock on the wall and noticed it has been 2 hours already since she came home from school. She now started to panic again. What if she left me? What if she.. Died? No, something silly like that would never happen. Her mother is a strong mare, not only from the outside, but from the inside aswell. She thought it would be the best thing to try to make some dinner for herself, as it was becoming a bit dark outside. She wasn't the best cook, so she just warmed up some soup for herself. She had trouble with trying to suppress the thought of Octavia not seeing her mother ever again. Not that she accepted it, she wouldn't let herself accept the thought. After the soup was ready, she sat down at the table. She felt so much lonelyness. She'd never expierienced so much lonelyness ever before. She couldn't eat any of her soup, so she dicided to go to bed. Her mother would make a delicious breakfast for her tomorrow morning, just like she did today. But Octavia knew that this was not likely to happen.
She crawled up in her bed. "why?" She whispered to herself, while her tears were now rolling down her cheeks. She slowly cried herself to sleep, now accepting the thought of her never being able to see her mother ever again.

From that day she never saw her mother again. She took a sip of her milk, while a single tear rolled down her cheek. She still wasn't over her mother's sudden dissapearance, even though it had been years ago. She Decided to go for a walk.

She had always loved walking; feeling a light breeze throught her mane, with no sound around her, except for the movement in the bushes caused by the small creatures. The quiet piece gave her time to clear her mind. She tried really hard to let go of her thoughts about her beloved mother, but deep inside she knew that she was most likely going to never let go of that thought. She foccused more on her walk. Octavia reached Sweet apple Acres, and trotted past the delicious looking apple trees. Her sad frown started to turn into a light smile, as Celestia's sun was slowly rising. She followed the small rough road, not knowing where this small journey would take her.
