Rainbow and Fluttershy have been the best of friends for a while. They know nearly everything about each other, except their true feelings for each other. My attempt at FlutterDash

Rainbow dash and Fluttershy have been best friends for as long as they could remember. Once they get to high school things soon change, not just for them but for everyone. Everyone around them seems to be going crazy falling for each other left and right, but not Dashie or Flutters. Dash either scares off every guy she finds or they get jealous and leave her behind. Flutters is single and content with that though, she is far to shy to admit feelings to anyone.

Sorry, I royally suck at making descriptions..

Run Away Bunny

Rainbow Dash was wandering the halls of Canterlot High aimlessly, something she had grown fairly used to doing. Most jocks in the school were allowed to get away with pretty much anything, like every other high school. Especially Rainbow. The Canterlot Wondercolts soccer team had a face and that face belonged to Rainbow Dash. Heck, even the school's mascot got a makeover a few years ago; they changed the color of its mane to that of a rainbow. As she was wandering those silent halls she was met with a rather odd surprise. A dainty pink haired woman was in front off her on the ground, in tears.

"Flutters?" Rainbow's tone went from one of shock to one of worry when she noticed her friend was crying. "What are you doing in the halls? More importantly, why are you crying? Who's butt do I have to kick?"

"Oh Rainbow!" Fluttershy gasped and got up, lunging at her friend. She captured the woman in a tight embrace, her body shaking and racked with tears. After a moment of silence she tried her best attempt at steadying her voice when she spoke, but it still came out a bit shaky. "You know how I bring Angel Bunny to school 'cause I feel bad when I leave him home alone, right?"

Rainbow nodded looking down to face her slightly shorter friend, "Uhm, yeah? Why? Did something happen to him? Were you caught having him in school with you?"

"Yes, well.. No I wasn't caught with him, but when I looked in my bag to check on him he wasn't there!" Fluttershy's brief moment of calm was shattered as she began to sob again.

"Oh 'Shy," Rainbow felt a little awkward with her friend's arms wrapped tightly around her waist for so long, but she didn't resist. She slowly moved her arms up to return the hug and softly rubbed her friend's back to comfort her. "Don't cry, I'm sure we'll find him. He can't have gotten far."

"You think so?" Fluttershy looked up hopefully at her friend.

Rainbow smiled. "No, I know so. You go and start looking for him. I'm going to go grab Rares, she has an amazing eye for detail and if anyone can spot him it'll be her.

Fluttershy gasped and pulled entirely away from her friend, "Dashie! That's a wonderful idea!" She blushed, realizing how loud she just was. "But.. Uhm.. You wouldn't mind helping would you? I would hate to impose..." The gorgeous pink locks of the gentle woman's hair fell over her eyes as she looked down, twiddling her thumbs.

"Pssh! Nah I don't mind in the least! After all, what are best friends for? Now get a move on. I'm going to get Rares and we will text you when we find him." Rainbow said with confidence as she left in a hurry to go get her friend.

"Oh Angel Bunny.." Fluttershy sighed softly.

Where would he go..? Oh when I find him I'll!! ...Oh, who am I kidding? I'll probably cave in and feed him some of his favorite carrots...

She wandered around the halls aimlessly looking for any sign of Angel, before it dawned on her to check the cafeteria. She hoped that he had the common sense to go to there in an attempt to find some food for himself. With that thought in mind she half ran to the cafeteria. As soon as she arrived, however, her hopes were immediately shattered; before her was a very empty lunch room, not even a piece of trash lingered. But as she began to to back around and head back to the halls she heard the most horrifying sound coming from the kitchen behind the counters.

She ran as fast as her own two legs would carry her towards the kitchen. When she finally arrived to the source of the sound she stopped in horror at the sigh before her eyes. Snips and Snails had captured her bunny and yanking on his ears in an attempt at ripping them from his head. Then after determining that ripping the ears off required a certain amount of strength that he didn't have, Snail dangled Angel over a pot of boiling water and threatened to throw him in. At that point, with her body frozen in horror, Fluttershy did the only thing her body let her do. She let out the loudest bloodcurdling scream she could.

"ANGEL BUNNY!!!"

The Scream was so loud and unexpected that it caused Snails to cover his ear in an attempt to silence the noise.

"Make it stop!" Snips whined still holding his hands to his now ringing ears.

Snails on the other hand had not been as bothered by her scream. If anything, it simply encouraged him to further his activities to elicit more out of her. He grinned as he lowered the squirming bunny dangerously close to the water. He watched the timid girl's expression intently as he lowered her beloved pet closer and closer to the waters bubbling surface. The anguish on her face fueled his desire to continue, but he stopped lowering the bunny to drag this out as long as possible.

"So the quiet one is a screamer? Did you hear the lungs on her Snips?" His grin turned into a toothy smile.

Snails pulled the rabbit away from the boiling water, but had no intention on stopping his torturous ways. He grabbed each one of the bunny's ears in a different hand and began pulling them apart.

"P-please stop! You're hurting him!" She cried out, falling to her knees. Tears streamed down her face.

"And what are you going to do abou-"

Just as he was about to finish what he was saying, a rainbow blur shot past Fluttershy, followed by a loud smack. The smack gave Angel enough time to escape into the trembling arms of his beloved friend and owner. He immediately nuzzled into her neck seeking comfort for the both of them. Shallow whimpers fluttered in the air like a foreboding of the storm yet to come.

"How dare you hurt my friend's pet like that! You little bastard!" Another smack rang out.

Snips finally spoke up after taking his hands off of his ears.

"We are sorry we swear!" He shouted. Snails nodded furiously while rubbing his now stinging and red cheek.

"Oh no, darling," Rarity started from behind Flutters, the normal tone of her voice replaced with barely contained rage. "You will be sorry you ruffians! You realize abusing animals like that is against the laws, hmm?"

"Y-you're not going to call the cops on us, are you?" The boys said in unison.

"Give us one reason not to, you little brats!" Dash yelled directly in the face of the now sniffling and crying boys.

"W- we're sorry! Please, we'll do anything!" The boys dropped to their knees and pleaded to the threatening woman in front of them, "Just please don't call the cops or tell our parents!"

Rainbow smirked and was just about to speak again before a soft yet angry voice came from behind her. "I have an idea. How about you 'volunteer' at my animal shelter for about.. lets say a month. And MAYBE if you do a good enough job and treat all the animals with love and respect we won't tell anyone. Maybe."

"That sounds like a marvelous idea, Fluttershy darling," Rarity smiled. "And the other staff will make sure that you don't abuse the poor wittle critters there."

"We'll do it! We promise! And we'll never hurt a single animal ever again! Not even a bug." Snails yelled still rubbing his cheek.

"Good, now leave before I use both of your heads for soccer practice," Rainbow smirked rearing her leg back and threatening to kick them.

In a flash both of the boys got off of their knees and ran for the door, leaving the three women and the abused animal alone. As soon as the boys were gone from their sight, the girls gathered into a small huddle and looked at Angel.

"Oh deary, is he okay?" Rares said, softly looking at the poor little bunny nuzzling into Fluttershy's chest still.

Fluttershy moved her hands to get a better glance at the bunny. "I think so.. Though he might be in pain. Pulling on his ears like that.. Ohh I'm so mad.. If my body didn't freeze up I would have-"

"Relax Shy, it's all over now and I wouldn't have let you hurt them. I know it would only cause you more pain later on if you were to hurt the little jerks," Rainbow put her hand onto Shy's upper arm gently, looking into her friend's cyan eyes.

"She's right you know.. If you even hurt a hair on those boys' heads you would have felt guilty about it for months," Rarity agreed.

"You're both right.. Thank you," Fluttershy smiled and softly scratched Angel's chin causing the bunny's leg to thump. "Okay Angel, we all need to get to class, so please hop in my backpack. This time don't leave on your own, okay?"

Angel looked up at his beloved owner and nodded with tears in his eyes before hopping into the backpack. Fluttershy smiled and pulled her friends into a soft hug, which was affectionately returned.

"Thank you both, but I think we should head to class or at the very least leave the cafeteria. The lunch ladies are bound to be back shortly from their breaks," Fluttershy smiled, reluctantly pulling away from her friends.

"Yeah, I guess you're right... I mean, class ends in what? 10 minutes?" Rainbow Dash confirmed, pulling out her phone to check the time.

"Oh my! It's really already that late? I'm going to be in so much trouble! Thank you guys, but I have to go!" With that, Fluttershy ran off as fast as she could towards her class.

"Well I'll be off to my study hall or well...Sewing period. You shouldn't have hit those children, though, Rainbow. Others are going to wonder where those hand shaped red marks came from. Ta-ta~" Rarity gave a quick wave before walking off as well.

"Whatever.." Dash mumbled and left to head towards the gym.

She's Got Moxie

The three good friends entered the now bustling cafeteria, eyes scanning across it and taking notice of a few of the people occupying it. At the front of the cafeteria's lunch line stood a light yellow woman with brown hair, highlighted by green streaks. Fluttershy knew her well. Moxie frequently helped out at Fluttershy's animal shelter. Towards the back sat another familiar face of a person who needed no description: Trixie. Though someone was sitting near her today, a boy with deep blue skin and dark red hair. The poor boy seemed to be hiding behind a book while stealing shy glances at her.

After a moment Fluttershy spotted her other friends and quickly made her way to the seat she normally took. She sat down, followed by Rainbow sitting right beside her and Rarity sitting across from her. Twilight was across from Rainbow engrossed in some book that she mindfully had only told Fluttershy the most basic details about. It was about a group of people pitted against each other to the death, which sounded rather too dark for her own liking. Pinkie was next to Twilight uncontrollably bouncing in her seat, as she did most of the time. Applejack sat down next to Rainbow on her right and passed out bottles of Apple Family Cider to her friends.

"I can't believe your teacher gave you detention for being late to class just once! How lame," Dash rolled her eyes and took a swig of the precious cider, downing it immediately before letting out a satisfied belch.

"Ugh, how can you act so uncouth, Rainbow!? At least say excuse me after burping like that... And yes, I do agree. I've been late to classes multiple times and I still haven't had any disciplinary action. Your teacher was rather harsh," Rarity cast a concerned glance at the obliviously distracted Twilight, catching a snipped from the page.

Applejack followed Rarity's glance to Twilight. "Ah' guess she's one of those moods again huh? Now what are ya'll talkin' about?" She frowned at her exclusion.

"Oh! Oh! Oh! I know!" Pinkie near yelled raising her hand and shaking it wildly. Before anyone could object, she blurted out what happened in her normal, spastic tone. "Fluttershy lost Angel Rainbow and Rarity helped look for him but had no luck then Fluttershy saw that Snips and Snails were hurting poor Angel bunny and SCREAMED as loud as she could so Dashie came and taught them a thing or two!" She took a deep breath, "that's why all of them were late for class!" Pinkie smiled.

At that point Twilight cast Pinkie a doubting look. Pinkie shrugged in reply, "Just a hunch." She then giggled and went off into the lunch room to go check on all of her other friends.

"Oh.. It's alright. I mean I did break the rules after all so it's only fair that they punish me," Fluttershy sighed and pulled an apple out of her backpack from a side pouch.

"Do you need one of us to-" Rarity was interrupted by an even more excited Pinkie then before.

"Oh my gosh! Did you just hear that? Vinyl and Octavia started dating! I knew it! Hehehehe! I have to throw them a super-duper-congratulations-on-your-relationship party!" Pinkie bounced around.

"The Cellist and the DJ? That is a little odd. Now, as I was saying, darling; do you need one of us to go over to the animal shelter while you are in detention?" Rarity asked softly.

"Mmmm. No thank you, Rarity. I wouldn't want to bug you. I'll just ask Moxie if she can go a little earlier. I just hope her pet fox Forest doesn't bother the bunnies again," Fluttershy shook her head and got up, scanning the cafeteria for her friend. After a moment of looking, she noticed her friend giddily skirting around the tables trying to talk to as much people as possible. Fluttershy intercepted her casually.

"Hello Fluttershy! Isn't it such a lovely day? I was thinking Forest and I could go to the woods today and forage for things," Moxie smiled happily.

"Oh? Well, that's lovely. I'm sure the little guy would enjoy that," Fluttershy lowered her eyes in dejection. She didn't want to bother her friend.

"What's wrong? Did Angel get loose again?"

"Oh, no.. Well, yes he did, but that's not what's wrong. I got detention for being late...A-and I can't go to the shelter today right away," she sighed.

"Oh, that's terrible... Do you need me to head there early?"

"Oh no no no! You don't have to, you made plans with Forest already...I wouldn't want to impose..."

"Don't worry about it, Forest will get over it. Besides, he'll get to see his critter friends. I'll just make him a special treat," Moxie smiled, tilting her head to the side.

"Oh thank you Moxie!" Fluttershy hugged Mox and went back to her table with a smile. On the way there she noticed the same dark blue boy sitting near Trixie. This time he was talking to her and he seemed rather happy. The boy was smiling with a dark blush adorning his cheek.

Fluttershy smiled knowing that her animals would be cared for while she sat in detention. Suddenly it dawned upon her she had forgotten about poor Angel Bunny even after all he had gone through today. She rushed over to her seat and hurriedly opened her backpack, letting out a sigh of relief to see him sitting there snoozing. Reluctantly, she woke him by petting his nose and smiled at him as his ears flicked her finger away.

She spoke as soft as always with a kind smile that would make anyone melt, "wake up Angel. It's time for lunch, and I got you your favorite! Baby carrots." She pulled a few carrots out of a pouch in a different pocket of her bag. She took a bite from one herself to make sure it was fine, then gave him a few of the remaining ones to eat on his own.

"Hey girls? Could one of you watch Angel while I'm at detention today? I don't want to keep him in my bag after school," Fluttershy spoke up a little louder then normal so she would be heard.

"Oh, I could take him. I'm sure Opal would love to have one of her little friends over," Rarity looked up to her friend with a small smile. "Also it would give me a chance to try out a new line of clothing-for animals! Everyone is dressing up their pets so I figure I might as well design outfits for them as well," Rarity giggled happily.

"Thank you Rarity, could you come and get him before you leave school for the day?"

"Of course darling I would be happy to!"

"Alright, I'm going to get to class early to avoid this again."

At this point Rainbow was already lounging in her chair, slowly drifting off, but she opened an eye when Fluttershy said she was leaving. "Hey Flutters, let me walk you to class." Noticing she might have come off as a little dorky or awkward she immediately covered it up with, "You know. So no one thinks about messing with you again." She smiled and got up, standing next to her friend.

Fluttershy happily nodded at Rainbow's suggestion with a warm smile on her face, then did another quick check to make sure Angel was still in her bag. Content to see him there, still happily eating, she carefully put her backpack on and began to head off to class with Dashie by her side. Rarity smiled at the gesture that she saw before her, but decided to leave it alone. For now.

Animal Shelter

"Bye girls! I'll see you tomorrow after school, I'm sorry I can't hangout with everyone..." Fluttershy sighed and looked down hugging the books to her chest.

"It won't be the same without you Shy. You sure you don't want me to stick around and wait for you?" Rainbow asked again as she leaned up against the nearest locker.

"Oh heavens no... I couldn't ask you to do that. Go hangout with the rest of the girls." Flutters insisted.

"Alright" Rainbow nodded, "I hope it's not too boring for you" Rainbow smiled and headed off with the girls with a small wave.

With that Fluttershy let out a held breath and slowly turned to open the door of the detention room. As soon as she placed her hand on the knob a few thoughts ran through her head. What if she went in there and there some mean kids who bullied others? Or just nasty people? She sure could use Dashie in there with her. Unfortunately, she had to do this alone, so, with a sigh, she opened the door and walked over to Cheerilee.

"I'm uh.. Here for detention Ms. Cheerilee." Fluttershy looked down at the floor, unable to look Cheerilee in the face.

"Oh my, Fluttershy! What did you do to get in here? Of all people, I never thought I'd see you here after school." Cheerilee looked at the shy women who was hiding behind her bangs.

"I was... Really late to class..." Flutters frowned.

"That happens a lot. Sit up front, honey, and do your homework." Cheerilee smiled and directed her to the first table, away from any other people.

Fluttershy took her seat and sighed. It was so awful for her not to have her critters around her; it felt lonely.

Moxie fumbled with the keys Fluttershy gave her as soon as she got to the shelter. She managed to try every single key on the key ring twice nut she still wasn't in the building.

"What the hay..." She glared at the keys and then noticed one marked with 'A.S.' written on a strip of tape. She face-palmed and slid the key in the lock, finally getting the door open. When she nudged the door open Forest, the little conniving fox he was, hopped out of her backpack and made a bee line for the back. Moxie flicked the lights on and headed towards the back as well. As she arrived she noticed the door to the back was already open. She poked her head in and saw Forest unlocking cage after cage, and she swore she could hear the little devil laughing. He first got to the hamster cage, then the cats, and finally, with a bit of hesitation, the dogs. He had managed to let them all out, and, seeing his chance, ran for the rabbits to pester them.

"Oh no oh no oh noooooooooo," Moxie whined.

Everywhere she looked animals were running after each other, knocking things over, and letting out the few remaining animals. It was a disaster! Just as she thought things couldn't possibly get worse she heard the bells above the shelters door ring, signalling the door had opened. Moxie ran to the door as fast as she could. A little too fast, as she had to grab the corner of a wall to turn and slow down. She got to the door just in time to see a couple of cats running for it. Luckily, the guy who opened the door caught this as well and closed it as quickly as he could behind him. The guy was blonde with green eyes and, to be honest, looked a little goofy. Moxie looked to the guy with a sad smile.

"Hello and welcome to the animal shelter... Uhm... We are in a bit of a mess right now. Were you looking for a certain pet?" She said while trying to catch a cat that scurried past her feet.

"Hey... My name is Tara! Do you need help, miss? Usually stores don't let their animals run free..." He trailed off as he spoke.

"Oh no... It's not your job to round these pets up, it's mine.,. I couldn't let you do my job for me..."

"Well just consider it letting me check out my pet before I adopt it." He smiled with a soft chuckle.

"Okay... Any ideas on what to do first?" She wondered out loud more so then asking him directly.

"Miss, a question. When you feed the pets do you do anything special prior to feeding them? Perhaps ring a bell or sing a little tune?" He ask watching a little Corgi run in circles after it's own tail.

"Mhm... We press a button in the back with the cages and it makes a cute little chirping noise. Why do you ask?"

"Well there was this little experiment called Pavlov's Dogs... And, well, just play it louder, if you can, and I'm sure they will come running and drooling." He smiled gesturing towards the door where the animals are normally kept.

Catching the last part of that, Moxie looked at Tara with a questioning glance. "Huh?"

She shook it off and walked into the room, making sure to leave the doors wide open. As she walked in she went to the opposite wall and pressed the small button. Suddenly, a chirping was heard in the store. Within a moment, the store grew quiet immediately followed the sound of a lot of paws hitting the floor at once. The faster animals such as the dogs and the cats made it there in mere moments, skidding to a stop before the women at the button. The dogs backed at her with drool cascading out of their open maws. Moxie looked to Tara and smiled.

"Thank you! Now quickly, close the door for me please. I'll grab the food."

The boy made his way to the door in a hurry, so fast that he tripped over his own feet and landed face first on the floor. A stampeding group of bunnies trampled over the poor guy on their way to the chirping. The boy got up and closed the doors, which were no more then a few feet away. He sighed, knowing full well that the girl had seen how much of a fool he was. He laughed at himself and walked over to the girl.

"I got the door.. But you should probably feed them, they are probably expecting some food." He said, hoping she wouldn't say anything.

"You're probably right! Hey, how do you know these things anyway?" Moxie asked while she opened the closet filled with various types of pet food.

Almost relieved that she didn't notice what happened to him, he smiled. "Why it's nothing special really... I just take Psych in school and this was an experiment."

"Well thank you." She said in a sing-song voice, "Oh, and my name is Moxie, if you didn't know."

"Nice to meet you."

Moxie and Tara went about feeding the animals and luring them back into their separate cages with treats and more food. Moxie didn't like that she was going to have to explain what happened to all the treats, but it was better then letting Fluttershy know all the animals got loose. It took them a while, and Tara began to wonder how he got looped into all of it, but they finally got done around 5. Just as they finished the bells from the front door rang again followed by a soft voice.

"Hello? Moxie, where are you?" The voice called out.

"Oh, I'm back here Flutters!" Moxie called back in her normal happy sounding voice. Right before Flutters got back to where Moxie was, Forest sat at her leg and pawed at it, looking up as if he was begging for forgiveness. Moxie shook her head and picked the little scamp up, cradling him.

"Oh, I didn't realize you were with a customer..." Fluttershy said as she peered her head in and noticed the grey boy next to Moxie.

"Yeah! He came in looking for a pet and he decided to help me feed them. Isn't that right Tara?" She smiled turning to the embarrassed boy.

"Ah well... It was nothing. I figure I don't have much else to do, and I even got a good look at the animals." He smiled, rubbing the back of his head.

"Oh okay... I'm glad everything is okay. If you want you can take Forest out now that I'm here."

"Oh no, he has been a bad fox and he is going to pay for it." She smirked at the fox and the hurt look in its eyes.

Meanwhile a long hair black cat caught Tara's eye and he crept over to the cage and began to pet him. Moxie noticed this and walked over to him with a bright smile.

"His name is Monster! He is the most lovable ball of fluff you will ever know." She smiled, setting her fox back down, this time keeping an eye on him. He didn't stray far from Moxie's leg, clinging to it as if it were his only lifeline. Fluttershy smiled, knowing full well that Moxie had this under control, and walked past the front counter and back into the break room. She smiled, set her bag down on the table and walked back out, ready to begin her day of work.
