Soarin and Rainbow Dash in a love triangle with Spitfire.(Well sort of.)
A regular day in Ponyville, Rainbow sees the pony of her dreams, Soarin'. The two seem like a good match but Spitfire shows up and is very, well, creepy.
It was a bright and shiny day in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash was spending the day at the apple cart with her friend Applejack. Many apple products were lined up on the shelves of the cart. Apple fritters, caramel apples, apple dumplings, apple tarts and apple pies. Rainbow Dash couldn’t help herself. But to be a good friend, she asked Applejack if she could have a treat.
“Applejack?” she said.
“Yeah, sugarcube?”
“Can I have something on the apple cart? I’m starving.”
“Sure! What would you like?”
“I’ll take an apple pie!”
Applejack was about to hand her the pie until a stallion called out in the distance. “Hey! Don’t start that without me!”
Rainbow Dash was surprised to hear this. For she did not have any crushes on any stallions in Ponyville. The stallion approached, he was a blue peagsus, in a Wonderbolt outfit! He came up to Rainbow, and gave her a grin. She blushed, her cheeks as hot as fire. “I’ll share that pie with you, Rainbow.”
“You know my name?”
“Well, duh. You told me your name at the Grand Galloping Gala and at the Royal Wedding, which by the way was weird.”
“Oh, yeah.”
“Well I better leave you to chat.” Said Applejack, handing of the pie to Rainbow, and pushing the cart farther away from the two ponies.
The two walked over to the café and sat across from each other at a table. Rainbow started to walk inside, but Soarin’ stopped her. “We don’t need any utensils.” He said, and then winked.
Rainbow sat back down on her seat, and stared of into the distance. “Would you like to eat with me?” said Soarin’, before starting to eat the pie.
“Okay, I guess.” They started to eat the pie, chunks of pie clinging to their faces. Rainbow looked up and giggled. “Soarin’, you got a lot of pie on your face.”
He looked up and smiled, “You too.” He said. They started pointing out places where they had pie on their faces. “There and there and right there. “ Said Rainbow.
“You got something right here.” Said Soarin’, pointing at her lips.
“Where? On my lips?”
“Wait, I’ll get it.” Said Soarin’ leaning in to kiss her.
Rainbow Dash was shocked. How could a professional Wonderbolt like him fall for a mare like herself? Rainbow let his lips touch hers, but not for long. It was only a small peck and there still pie on her face. They both took napkins and wiped their faces and set off for Cloudsdale.
The two went to Soarin’s house. His house was large and was made out of cloud. It was more of cloud mansion. “Wow! That is one big house.”
“I know right. Being a Wonderbolt helps you get a lot of bits.”
“Soarin’?”
“Yeah Rainbow?”
“Promise me you won’t get me to do anything I will regret?” Rainbow asked.
“I promise.” Said Soarin’, as he slowly kissed her cheek. They walked into his house, which was filled with furniture, maids, butlers and Spitfire?! “Spitfire?! What are you doing here?! In my house?!”
“Please take me back! I still love you!”
“No Spitfire! You cheated on me with your own Wonderbolt academy student! That’s despicable!”
Rainbow walked backward out of the room to avoid awkwardness. “But, Soarin’…”
“Spitfire, get out of my house, NOW.”
Spitfire flew out of the house and saw Rainbow sitting on the porch. “STAY AWAY FROM SOARIN’!” Spitfire yelled at Rainbow as she flew away.
“You can come back in now, Rainbow.”
Rainbow walked back into the house and sat on a couch next to Soarin’. “What was that about?”
“Well, four months ago, I saw Spitfire making out with one of her students, while we were dating.”
“Wow that’s cold.”
“I know right. I broke up with her after that.”
“Wow I never knew you guys were dating.”
“Yeah, we never told any reporters or anypony.”
“Oh.”
The two ponies sat silently on the couch until Soarin’ put his hoof on Rainbow’s shoulder. Rainbow turned to him and smiled. The two stared into each other’s eyes. The two just sat there smiling and blushing.
“Well, I better go. I have to go help Fluttershy with her animals.”
“Well I guess I’ll see you later.”
“Let’s meet up at Sugarcube Corner tomorrow for lunch.”
Rainbow flew of, with tears filling up her eyes as she flew to her friend’s cottage. She landed at Fluttershy’s cottage, visibly crying. “What’s wrong, Rainbow?” said Fluttershy, with slight frown on her face.
Rainbow sniffled and said “Nothing these are happy tears!” “Now Rainbow, I know the difference of happy and sad tears.”
“Honest, these are happy tears.” She paused. “Alright. These are happy and sad tears.”
“Ok, why are you crying happy tears?” Said Fluttershy, pushing Rainbow Dash inside her cottage.
“I went on a date with Soarin’ the Wonderbolt!”
"Bye.”
“Oh my Celestia! Really?”
“Yeah, really.”
“Now, why were you crying sad tears?”
“I don’t know.”
“I have one question.”
“What, Fluttershy?”
“Did you kiss him?” Fluttershy whispered quietly.
Rainbow blushed. “Well, he kissed me.” “Oh.”
“Do you need any help with your animals?”
“Actually, yes.”
“What do I need to do?”
“Can you feed Angel and the rest of the bunnies?”
“Sure.”
Rainbow grabbed a bushel of lettuce and then trotted outside to the bunny pen. She placed the lettuce in the pen and ran back in. “Anything else?”
“No, but you can ask Rarity. I heard she is working on a big project.”
“Ok, see you later Fluttershy.”
“Bye, Rainbow.”
Rainbow flew out of the cottage and glided to Rarity’s boutique. When she got there, she knocked on the door of the boutique.
Rarity answered, “Go away! I’m busy!”
“Rarity! It’s me, Rainbow Dash!”
Rarity opened the door. “Whoops. Sorry.”
“Do you need any help, Rarity?”
“Actually, yes. Can you get my dark green fabric from the top shelf?”
“Sure.” Rainbow flew up to the tallest shelf in the boutique and grabbed the fabric with her mouth. She flew back down to her friend and dropped the fabric at her feet. Rainbow sighed.
“What’s wrong?”
“I went on a date with Soarin’!”
“Wow, who’s Soarin’?’
“He’s one of the Wonderbolts!”
“Oh, wow!”
“Need any more help?”
“No, sorry dear. But Pinkie Pie might need some help.”
“Ok see you later.”
“Bye.”
Rainbow flew to Sugarcube Corner to go help Pinkie. She opened the double door to find Pinkie have a panic attack. “Pinkie! Calm down!”
“I can’t find a recipe I desperately need for an order.”
“I’ll help you!”
The two sorted through piles and piles until Pinkie found it under one of the piles. “FOUND IT!!!”
“Pinkie, I’m right here.”
“Oh, right.”
“What is the recipe for?”
“It’s for Mac and Cheese Muffins”
“Eww. Who would order that?”
“Derpy, duh.”
“Right.”
“Can you get a measuring cup, a box of macaroni, some cream cheese and everything on this list?”
“Sure.” Rainbow whooshed through the kitchen to gather the ingredients. After the ingredients were collected and placed on the counter, the two followed the recipe and the muffins were made. Finally, Derpy came into the store to pick up the muffins. Dropping of the bits on the counter and taking the bag she left.
Rainbow flew home to her cloud house to find her house damaged. She was very confused. She walked in to the doorway, which had no door, and saw Spitfire holding and baseball bat in her mouth. Her presence gave Rainbow a chill down her spine. “Why, hello Rainbow.” Said Spitfire in a chilling, angry voice.
“W-what are you doing in my house? How did you know where I live?!”
“I told you to stay away from Soarin’! He is mine!”
“You cheated on him! That’s betrayal!”
“I don’t care! He is my coltfriend, not yours!”
“He isn’t my coltfriend; well I don’t think he is.”
“He will never be your coltfriend. How could a pro flyer like you?”
“How could he have dated such lying, cheating mare like you?”
“Get out of my house, NOW!!!”
Spitfire flew off while muttering a few curse words. Rainbow collapsed on to her bed, thinking about what had just happened: Kissing Soarin’, Helping Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie and Fighting with Spitfire; What a Day.
Rainbow awoke in the morning and took a walk in the town square of Ponyville. She walked past Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie, Twilight, and Fluttershy. Strangely, they all winked at her. Rainbow walked over to Twilight. “You know I went on a date with Soarin’?”
“Yep.”
“Who told you?”
“Rarity did. Why?”
“Well, I didn’t want them to spread that around.”
“Did you tell them to not do that?”
“Well, no.”
“Well, there. I got to go. Royal duties and stuff.”
“Bye, Twilight.”
“Bye, Rainbow.”
Rainbow walked through town to go meet up with Soarin’ at Sugarcube Corner. She got to Sugarcube Corner and saw Spitfire talking to Soarin’. A fit of jealous rage and anger filled up her body. She stomped in to the empty courtyard in front of the bakery. “You little @#%*$! You hurt my dream coltfriend’s heart! And you destroyed my house!”
Spitfire’s ears shoot up, surprised to hear this. “I warned you once, I warned twice, I don’t want to warn you a third time!”
“You can’t stop me Spitfire. This is my life and I’m in charge. You may be my drill sergeant, but now that doesn’t matter.”
Spitfire left the scene, stomping mad and flew off. “Well, that was awkward.” Said Soarin’.
“Yeah,”
“Am I actually your dream coltfriend?”
“Um, yes.”
“Did she actually damage your house?”
“Yep”
“Well, that’s a little harsh.”
The two sat down at a table of Sugarcube Corner. Pinkie Pie came up to them. “What would you like to eat today?”
“We’ll take an apple pie, please?” said Soarin’.
“Okey-Dokey-Lokey!”
Pinkie poofed in and out of the bakery, returning with an apple pie on her head. “Here you go!” said Pinkie, then walking back into Sugarcube Corner, winking at Rainbow.
“Well, let’s eat! I’m starving!” said Soarin’, his stomach grumbling loudly.
“Ok.”
The two shoved their faces into the pie, once again. Soarin’ looked up at Rainbow, while she looked up at him. The two bursted into laughter, falling of their seats. “Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! You look so ridiculous!” Said Rainbow, tears falling out of her eyes.
Finally the laughter died, and the two sat back up in their seats.
The two flew towards Cloudsdale, until they got to Rainbow’s house. The two walked through the doorway, which was now fixed. As the two walked in, they both saw an orangey yellow pony whipping through the house. “It’s Spitfire, isn’t it.” Said Soarin’ whispering to Rainbow.
“Yep.”
“Hey Spitfire!”
Spitfire stopped dead in her tracks, after hearing her name.
“Oh hello!”
“Why are you here?!”
“I said I didn’t want warn you a third time, but now I have to.”
Spitfire pushed Rainbow off of her cloud house, causing her to plummet towards the ground. “Why did you do that?!”
Spitfire gave Soarin’ a kiss on the cheek. He jumped of the cloud to save Rainbow. “Rainbow!”
“Soarin’! I can’t open my wings! They’re locked! Save me!”
Above them, Spitfire flew off with a grin on her face. Soarin’ managed to get underneath Rainbow and catch her. Rainbow started to cry hysterically. She was freaked out and was hugging Soarin’ as he carried her up. “It’s okay. It’s okay.”
The two got up to the house and sat down on a couch. Suddenly Soarin’ got up. Something on a shelf caught his eye.
“What’s this?” Soarin’ said, while picking up a stuffed pony, of him.
“N-nothing.”
He brought it over to Rainbow, placing it on her head. “Now you have a little Soarin’ and a life-sized Soarin’.”
Rainbow smiled then yawned. She fell asleep on the couch next to Soarin’. That was his cue to leave. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and nuzzled her.
He flew off as the sunset changed colors. He got to his house, and found Spitfire standing on his porch. “Spitfire, I’m not interested in you anymore.”
“But-,”
“Get out! Stay away from me and Rainbow!”
Spitfire had no other choice. Her ex-coltfriend didn’t have the same feelings. She would just have to find a new coltfriend.
Soarin’ fell on top of his bed, thinking about what just happened: Kissing Rainbow, Meeting the Strangest Pink Pony and Finally Got Rid of Spitfire. What a day.
The two ponies dreamed about each other that night.
Rainbow woke up in the morning. She flew over to Soarin’s house. She knocked on the door. No answer. Rainbow pushed opened the door. She tip-toed into the house and saw Soarin’ sprawled out asleep on his bed. Rainbow walked up to him and nuzzled him. He opened his eyes and looked at her. “What are you doing?”
“Nuzzling you.”
“Okay. Want to go get breakfast?”
“No, but my friends are having a brunch picnic. You can come if you like.”
He sighed. “Okay.”
The two flew to the picnic area. There was already a blanket on the ground. Pinkie and Rarity were already there. “Hi Pinkie! Hi Rarity!”
“Hi!” said Pinkie.
“Hello!” said Rarity.
“Where is everypony else?”
“Oh, they will be there in a minute.”
“Ok, what is everypony bringing?”
“I brought plates and napkins, Pinkie brought cupcakes, Twilight is bringing cups, Fluttershy is bringing daisy sandwiches and Applejack is bringing apple pie.”
“Apple pie!?”
“Oh, hi Soarin’.”
Pinkie came over to Rainbow and whispered into her ear, “Are you two dating?” Rainbow shrugged. Finally, the other three ponies arrived. They set the blanket up. Twilight, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rarity and Applejack watched as Rainbow and Soarin’ shared an apple pie.
Rainbow turned to her friends, “Do you mind?”
Her friends pretended to eat sandwiches and cupcakes. Soarin’ and Rainbow got up and went under a big tree, leaving her friends confused. The other five ponies walked over to the tree to see what was going on. The couple was gone!
Above them, the two were looking down, giggling. Being the element of Laughter, Pinkie heard the two giggling above her. Pinkie jumped up and down, sticking her head in the tree where the two were. “Hello! What, Are, You, Doing?!”
The two pegasi fell out of the tree, falling in an awkward position.
The ponies all gasped at the sight, while the two blushed furiously.
They got out of the awkward pose and flew off, Rainbow leaving her friends in the dust.
Fluttershy tried to catch up with her but Twilight stopped her. “Let her go Fluttershy, let her go.”
The two flew off to Rainbow’s napping tree in Sweet Apple Acres. The two sat on the tree, Rainbow on her branch and Soarin’ on the top of the tree, the both of them napping.
Eventually, Rainbow’s friend, Applejack, had found them, since Sweet Apple Acres is her home. Applejack just sat there staring and sighing.
Suddenly, Soarin’ woke up in a fright. He somewhat had a nightmare. He got up from his napping spot, walked across the tree and lied down next to Rainbow, and nuzzled her. Applejack sighed louder, waking up Soarin’ and Rainbow. The two stared at her as she tried to hide from them.
Rainbow yawned and ignored her friend while Soarin’ got up to searched for the orange pony. “Applejack?”
“Y-yes, Soarin’?”
“You can watch us nap if you want, I don’t care, just don’t do it creepily or loudly, okay?”
“Sure, sugarcube.”
Soarin’ flew back up to the branch to nap with Rainbow. Applejack sat down and watched her friend nap with her crush, which was definitely crushing back at her friend. Suddenly, Big Macintosh, and the CMCs appeared behind her. “Whatcha doin’ big sis?” said Apple Bloom.
“Watching Rainbow and Soarin’.”
“Eww….”said the CMCs in unison.
The four ponies walked off while Applejack just sat there and stared. Eventually, the sun set and she decided to not wake the two up. When morning came the couple woke up. Soarin’ woke up first and had to wake Rainbow up. He shook Rainbow and woke her up but she pushed him of the branch. He fell with “Oof!”
Rainbow looked down and saw Soarin’ laying there.
“Sorry.”
“It’s ok. I scared you.”
Rainbow helped him up and the two flew off to Twilight’s treehouse.
