Story
It was dawn for the town of Ponyville, the sun is slowly rising from the horizon signalling the start of the day. At this time most ponies would still be asleep right now, but this is not the case for the Apple family.
Just outside of Ponyville is a farm called Sweet Apple Acres home of the famous Apple family. One of the residents Macareina was half asleep in her bed. Normally as farmers they should be up early to start their chores but today this red mare decided that she could use a little extra rest before starting the day.
Macareina turn to the other side of her bed and came face to face with her husband. Her partner was a light blue pegasus stallion with spiky rainbow mane. Her husband sleeping peacefully while snoring loudly, not as loud like last night but enough for her hear clearly. Macareina simply smiled at her sleeping companion. At first his snoring would keep her up all night, but eventually she started getting used to it and bu now she could barely sleep without it.
On a regular day she would've woken the blue pegasus up to start their day, but today she decide to allow him to sleep in for a bit. This was also the time Macareina to be left to her thoughts. She likes to use this time to remember her past. They varied from her happiest memories, such as her first day of school, her birthday, the birth of her two little brothers and now her most recent event her time with Blitz.
As soon she started thinking of Blitz it brought up memories of them together. From their first date to their wedding day they were all memorable moments. The one specific memory she'll be focusing on will be the event that will lead to the start of their relationship.
Many years ago the once peaceful country of Equestria was in a state of crisis. Another country has declared war on land of Equestria and are now starting to invade its borders. With the coming war Equestria started drafting ponies to fight in this war. One of the many drafted included her brother Applejack.
At first Macareina wanted her brother to go into hiding, not wanting her brother to joined the army. Unfortunately her brother refused, saying it is his patriotic duty to serve his homeland. Seeing that nothing will convince her stubborn brother she made him promise her to write letters for her, Applebuck, and Grandpa Smith.
The day before his departure Applejack mentioned to her sister that since with him leaving Macareina will have twice the amount of work on farm. Luckily he managed to talk one of his friends into helping at the farm. The next day at the train station the Apples were waiting the next train to Canterlot. They were also waiting for Applejack''s friend to arrive.
Minutes later Applejack friends arrived. There was the pink earth stallion Berry Bubble, the White coated and purple maned unicorn named Elusive, the quiet yellow pegasus Butterscotch, and the recently crowned Prince the purple coated alicorn Dusk Shine.
After doing a head count Macareina realized that they are missing somepony. She try to remember who it was they are missing. Her answer came to her from a shout behind her, turning slowly she was instantly slam by fast blue blur.
After recovering from her assault she now remember the last friend of Applejack. His name was Rainbow Blitz a wonderbolts member and fastest pegasus in all of Equestria as he like to state out. Her immediate reaction for his action was to scone him about not flying around so fast. Blitz responded by telling her she should have better reflexes. They both started arguing with each other until Applejack intervene.
After settling that conflict Applejack told her that Dusk will coming with him since he a Prince he feels that he needs to be by Lord Solaris side during this conflict. Applejack also told her that Rainbow Blitz would the one to help her the farm much to her disappointment.
The train to Canterlot arrived and many pony boarded it including Dusk and Applejack. After the train left everypony left to go do their own things. Blitz flew next to Macareina and asked when he is going to start. She harshly told him to meet her at the farm by early next morning and abruptly left the blue stallion.
Along the walk home Macareina was in deep thought. She couldn't believed that her brother left Rainbow Blitz to help at the farm. She has nothing against him it's just that she wasn't very fond of him. She found the blue stallion to be arrogant, lazy, and brash. She also found his pranks to be childish and annoying.
As soon she got home she made dinner for herself, Applebuck, and Grandpa Smith. She then head to her room and prepare herself for tomorrow.
The relationship between these started off pretty rough. The next morning Macareina was waiting patiently for the blue pegasus to arrive. After arriving half an hour late the red mare berated him for his lateness she gave him a simple job of harvesting the apples in the north field. After a hour has passed Macareina spotted a rainbow streak appearing from the field. Upon closer inspection she saw Blitz high up in the air. Suddenly he was speeding down to the ground and in a split second and sonic rainboom was formed.
Shocked at what just happened Macareina rushed towards the northern fields. Upon entering the area she saw that all the branches from the trees were broken off and that the around the base are huge piles of leaves. While looking around she saw Rainbow Blitz caring buckets of apples and putting them on a wagon.
When he saw Macareina he gulped as he saw the mad look on her face. The red mare wasted no time in yelling at the blue stallion over the stunt he just pulled. She then told him that from on he is not allowed to fly in her farm. Blitz complained that this was unjust, but Macareina will not hear another word from this and lef thte blue stallion to his work.
The next few days were quiet since both Macareina and Blitz were not on speaking terms. They both simply do their work and returned home after it was done. Occasionally she would get letters from her brother just as he promised her. The letters were mostly about how him meeting new ponies and the daily training he gets from his drill sergeant. His other letters asked about their family and his friends.
When the subject of Blitz came up Macareina wrote in her letter all the things he has done so far. Upon receiving the letter from Applejack he responded that she shouldn't give up on Blitz yet. He mention that while Blitz can be lazy, but he is no quitter and won't leave.
That part of his letter got her thinking. Now that she thought about it why didn't he quit. After all she did banned him from flying on their farm, she knew about the pegasus love for flying so she figured that he would quit immediately. This was not the case since he is still coming every morning and working on the farm.
To get her answer she decides to ask the stallion himself. Walking to where he station the red mare spotted the blue pony bucking a tree and collecting the apples. He then glance towards the direction of the earth pony and frowned a bit. Macareina didn't let it bother her and proceed to questioned him, the answer she got was not what she expected.
Rainbow Blitz explain to her that while he doesn't want to be here and that he rather be doing something else right now, he wouldn't. The reason was because he is doing this for his friend AJ, in detail Blitz explained that Applejack came to all his friends for assistance. While the others were too busy doing their own things he himself volunteered, it was because he knew how important family is to Applejack and he do anything to help take that bit of burden off him. Basically Blitz is only helping at the farm out of his friendship with Applejack.
Macareina was caught off guard by his answer, she never knew Blitz could be quite admirable. A few days after their talk Macareina started to become more lenient on the him even ignoring the time when she spotted him hovering a bit. She even occasionally brought out the refreshments for him to eat and drink.
Soon the two started eating lunch together during their break. At first they didn't say anything to each other since they don't know what to talk about. But eventually the two pony found a subject they both can talk about, a certain orange stallion by the name of Applejack.
The two pony talked endlessly about Applejack. Blitz would brought up all the crazy adventure they had while Macareina would brought up the stuff Applejack did when he was younger. They enjoyed their conversation so much that their short break lasted for an hour.
The next few weeks were a more pleasant one for the two, they were now on friendlier terms with each other and she even allow him to fly on her land. The hostility between them has dissolved and now they casually talked to each other.
Their relationship would soon change in the coming weeks, their feelings for each others would developed in something more then friends. It starts of with Blitz flirting with the red mare, not a being stranger of being hit on by stallions Macareina flirt back at him. While started off as just simple teasing their flirting will lead to the two to developed strong feelings for each other.
Then one day Macareina finally confessed her love for the rainbow hair stallion. The stallion only response was to kiss her on the lips. A simple action that speaks volume, from this single action Blitz express his feelings for the red mare. That night not only did they both confess their love for each other, but they also shared their first kiss.
After that night the two have become more romantic with each others. They walk side to side, go on dates, kiss each other, hug each other, and other stuff couples do. All of these things set up the path that lead to them sharing a passionate night together at her house.
Things were looking up for Macareina her life is peaceful, she a great family, and now she has special somepony to share it with. However her happy life came crumbling down when she received the letter.
In the days leading to the letter Macareina hasn't gotten any letters from Applejack. At first she was worried, but she dismisses as him being busy with his duty. How wrong she was when she received the letter. It wasn't the usual letters she got from Applejack, this one has the royal seal on it.
Opening it up the letter is from Prince Dusk Shine, the content of the letter informs her that just a week ago the unit Applejack was in was attacked and most of the ponies were wiped out. Applejack's body was not found so it could indicate that he maybe alive, but is probably captured by the enemy.
Macareina was horrified by the news. She heard rumors of how horrible the enemy treat their prisoners, tales of their deeds varied from melting faces to plucking eyes out. She then began having horrible thoughts of Applejack, she imagine him being horribly tortured by them.
These thought haunted her mind for the rest of the day. It wasn't until Blitz noticing his fillyfriend mood did he confront her about it. Macareina told him everything from the letter to her worrying about the safety of her little brother. Seeing the red mare being distressed Blitz insist that he'll stay at her house for the night. She refused but the blue stallion wasn't asking.
They slept together that night, sleeping with both of them embracing each other. Macareina slept peacefully while Blitz had others things in his mind.
The next morning Macareina woke up and notice her partner was missing. She found a note next to her, she picked it up and read it. The note revealed that Blitz has left to Canterlot so that he can join the army and help rescue Applejack. Shocked by this she bolted out of her room and out of the house to reach the train station.
Upon reaching the station the train for Canterlot has left, Macareina wanted to chase after the blue stallion, but couldn't because she has responsibility on the farm. The red mare lower her head down in depression and left to head back to the farm.
The next few weeks has been a quiet one for her, she never did realized how much she missed Blitz's banter. How he tells her all the amazing stuff he can do and bragging about his many achievements. Now things are quiet on the farm as she just does her mundane chores.
A month has passed and she still haven't heard word from the stallion. During the month Macareina has been feeling really sick , so she decided to go the hospital. The doctor managed to found out the problem, she was
pregnant. As those words left doctor's mouth Macareina was feeling a mixed of emotions, there was shock over the news, joy of having a child, anger for Blitz getting her pregnant and leaving, and sadness over how she will deal with this.
On the way home Macareina was in deep thought on how to deal with her foal. She came to a conclusion that she must inform her family about it and by that she means Grampa Smith. After telling the news and story of her relationship with Blitz, the elderly green stallion was disappointed that his grand daughter for not being cautious, but ease off her since the deed is done and no amount of scolding will solve it. Right now they have to focus on dealing with the child.
Months passed, at first Macareina did her chores but the amount of it decrease over time due the development of her pregnancy to the point of no working at all. During this time other ponies came over to Sweet Apple Acres and lend their hoof to assist. They mostly consist of relatives, Applejack's friends, and someponies from the town.
As this went on Macareina belly started to grow, at this point she really couldn't do much work aside supervising. She occasionally left the farm to head into town to either go the doctor, sell apples, or check with the news. According to the news things are looking good at the front, the enemies started to stop attacking their borders due to focusing their forces on quelling a civil war happening in their own nation.
As good news as it was it still didn't ease her mind about Applejack and Rainbow Blitz. The next couple of days were the same routine, Macareina sitting on the front porch of her house and watch the ponies do her work. They would sometime go up her or Grandpa Smith and ask them if there were any more task to do. Then one day out of nowhere she got a visitor at her porch. When she looked up she saw a familiar orange stallion.
Applejack was just standing in front of the porch, wearing his saddle bag, his stetson hat and a couple of bandages over him. Macareina, seeing her brother got up from her seat and hugged him. Applejack in turn hugged his sister back.
They hug for a while until Applejack broke the mood by asking why she gotten fat. The red mare explained to her brother that she was pregnant and his friend Blitz is the the father. Applejack was a loss for words and like his sister was feeling a mixed of emotions.Shock about his pregnant being pregnant. happy that he is going to be a uncle and angry when Blitz never told him.
When he mention Blitz's name Macareina asked her brother of his whereabouts. Her brother expression turn sad as he frown and lowered his ears. Applejack told his sister that he was rescued from the enemy camp by a unit Blitz was in. While retreating Blitz stayed behind and cover them, when they were far away from him a large explosion erupted and swallowed the blue pegasus.
After that mission he labelled KIA. Macareina was sadden by the news and openly cried on the porch, Applejack then hugged her trying to comfort her.
Another month passed and things were going back to normal for Equestria. The war is now over because the enemy's civil war has gotten more serious pulling their main army into the conflict, it is rumor that the rebels are winning.
While most ponies were celebrating, Macareina was not one of them. She was depressed at first over the loss of her special pony, but she was strong mare and strive through it. She continue her daily routine but this time with Applejack back doing his work. Her recent visit the doctor showed that her child is going to a be a filly. She thought of a name for her daughter, something to honor her father. The name Rainbow Dash appeared in her mind.
Once done at the hospital Macareina walked home. Even though Blitz was gone she at least still have fond memories of the blue stallion. When she reached her home she spotted a pony standing in front of entrance to their farm. As she got closer she saw features on the pony that reminder of a certain pony. Then it hits her, the blue coat and the rainbow mane.
Macareina quicken her pace and was now only a few hoof away from the pony. The pony heard her steps and turn to face her. The mare stopped in her tracks upon seeing the stallions face, she instantly recognizes the pony as Rainbow Blitz.
Upon closer inspection Blitz was also covered in bandages like Applejack, but the red mare was focused on the bandages she was focusing on the stallion himself. With tears in her eyes she rushed over to her coltfriend. Blitz smile at the sight of Macareina. However his smile was gone when the red mare slapped him.
Macareina told him the slap was for leaving her, she then suddenly kissed him. Breaking off for a moment to tell him the kiss was for coming back and she presume her kissing which Blitz returned back.
After their long kiss they stopped for air. Macareina then hugged him tightly telling him how much she missed him. Her rainbow mane partner return the hug with his own and told her how much he missed her as well. The red mare tighten her hug on Blitz not wanting to ever let him go.
Back to the present Macareina was brought out thought by a kiss from her husband. The mare sigh blissfully and nuzzle her companion. They stayed in bed for bit but eventually got up, Blitz went to use the bathroom while she herself would go to kitchen.
On the hallway leading to the kitchen there are photos contain picture capturing the important events in her life. The wedding of them, the birth of their first child, her first birthdays, and the birth of the twins. Many of the pictures also showed late family members like her mom and dad. The most recent addition is the late Grandpa Smith who passed away long ago.
Once she reached the kitchen Macareina saw that the whole family is here. Her eldest daughter Red Gala, a red coat filly with a orange mane was setting up plate for her two younger sibling. The twins, one is a colt name Zap Apple and he share the same red coat as his older sister but with rainbow mane. Next is his twin sister Apple Spectrum, this filly share the same green coat as Grandpa Smith but has the same mane color as her brother.
Also in the kitchen is not only her two little brothers Applejack and Applebuck. On the side she could their dog William eating kibbles along side Blitz's pet tortoise Shell. Macareina took her seat next her children while Applebuck was serving breakfast. Rainbow Blitz joined shortly and they all started eating their breakfast.
Macareina took one look around and smiled happily. She is truly the happiest mare in the world and continue to enjoy her breakfast with her family.
