The rulers of the Crystal kingdom have to busy to spend any time with their daughter, so they ask for the assistance of Twi, but Twi asks for help from her #1 assistant
It's been 6 years after the birth of Princess Skyla. Sadly, she can't spend time with any of the royals since they've all been very busy lately this week, especially her parents Cadence & Shining Armor! Seeing this, Twilight Sparkle decides to have teenage Spike look after her since she's found no-more use for his services after she became independent but refuses to send him away! Spike accepts the challenge and becomes great friends with Skyla! I shipped Spike with Octavia in this story!
"Okay, after the all screaming, your new foal is born." Said Horse M.D. "Prince Shining Armor, you can come out from behind the curtains now!"
"Oh, hey there honey!" He said, while trying to avoid his wife's glare! "S-so, did we get a filly or a colt & what species it our new little one?"
"We got an alicorn filly you coward! (He was captain of the royal guard, yet he's afraid of childbirth?)"
"That's great honey!"
Then the mane 6 & Spike walked in to see the newborn filly.
"Hello everypony, the new princess is right here!"
They all took turns to look.
"Now she's sure is ah cutie!" Said Applejack.
"Aw, she's so precious!" said Fluttershy.
"We gotta celebrate your birthday girl!" said Pinkie Pie excitedly.
"Congratulations you 2!" Said Rarity.
"Ay yeah, another flyer enters the world!" said Rainbow Dash.
"Hi there, it's me, your auntie Twilight!" Said Twilight, was just as excited as Pinkie.
Last but not least was Spike, who climbed up on a chair next to Cadence's hospital bed.
"She's so cute!"
Then the newborn's eyes opened.
"Girls, she's awake!" Spike said, while trying to keep his voice at an indoor level. Spike & the others looked at the baby as she had her 1st smile she smiled while looking out the window & into the sky!
"Woah, what's going on?" Spike asked as he was soaring through the air in a green aura. "Somepony, get me down, or at least catch me!"
"I gotcha dude!" Said Rainbow Dash, who was hovering under Spike, ready to catch him.
The baby laughed at Spike.
"Aw, I think she likes you Spike." Cadence commented.
"Good, now get her to let me go please."
Cadence then giggled, & used a spell to deactivate the levitation spell the baby used. Rainbow Dash caught Spike by the tail.
"Thanks!"
The mane 6 laughed at Spike. While this was happening...
"So, what are we going to name her?" asked Shining Armor.
"Well, looks like she likes the Sky, so I'm gonna go with the name: Skyla, what do you think?" Cadence asked
It's now been 6 years since the new Princess was born and everypony of Equestrian royalty we're all really busy, working hard to keep the peace & become friends with other lands! Sadly, no-one was able to watch the new Princess, but her parents decide to get her a foalsitter, but not just anypony, they decide to go to Ponyville since Twilight Sparkle doesn't have as much duties to perform as the others! Once the 3 made it to Golden Oaks Library, they knocked 3 times.
"I'm coming!" Said a stressed out voice. Once the door opened, the stressed out voice turned to a happy voice to see her brother, sister-in-law and niece at the door! "Oh, hello you 3, what brings you all here?"
"Well, we need a foalsitter. Since you don't have as many duties, we we're wondering if you could watch Skyla for us." Asked Shining Armor.
"Sorry, but even if my duties are low in number, they're big in importance!"
"That's too bad!" Cadence said in a sad tone.
"Maybe Spike could watch her?" Asked Twilight.
"You still have Spike with you?" They asked
"Of course, just because I'm now an independent princess, doesn't mean I'll ever get rid of him, Spike's family & he'll always will be! Besides, you told me last week, you said that you assigned him as Skyla's godfather!"
"I was drunk that time!" Shining responded.
"No, we never even walked next to a bar last week!"
"Dang it!"
Shining Armor saw a crimson & violet aura surrounding Cadence.
"Honey, when were you going to discuss this with me?" She asked.
"Uh.....................................I love you?" He's in the dog house now, for not discussing who Skyla's godparents would be.
"Um, excuse me, but I'm totally being ignored right now!" shouted Skyla in a mad voice. "Also, who's Spike?"
"He's the dragon we showed you in the photo albums dear, but he should be bigger by now!" Cadence said, while still glaring at her dead prince. Twilight joined in the glaring as well!
"Oh my Celestia, what's with all the screaming & yelling, can't you see I'm trying to...Oh, hey there!" Spike greeted, while rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes!
"Spike, great timing, I got a job for you!" said Twilight
Spike smiled a giant smile, it had been a whole 6 years since she last had Spike do something for her, and this would be the thing to make his day!
"Really? I get to do something? Oh my Celestia, thank you, I missed doing things for you so much Twilight! You're the only boss I can listen to without screwing anything up!" He said, then hugged Twilight, almost suffocating her! "So what do you need me to do Princess?"
"Spike, you will be Skyla's foalsitter till the Shining Armor & Cadence are done with all their royal duties & boy, do they have a big list of duties, but before you do this, do you 3 agree?"
"Yes, is that okay with you honey?"
"Yep, but I'm still gonna kill you for not telling me what you told Twilight!"
"I like him! He's funny!"
"(Funny?)" Spike thought.
"Alright, it's obvious you would agree Spike, since this is your 1st job in years!"
"Even though it's been years, I'm still the guy of many talents that all our friends know & love!" Spike said with great confidence! He then went down to meet Skyla at her eye level "Hello Skyla, we're gonna have lots of fun!"
"Yay!"
The princesses & prince awed at Spike & Skyla's 1st real introduction to each other, then glared at Shining.
"Alright Spike, we'll be going to the Crystal Empire, you have fun with Skyla see you 2 in a week!" said Twilight.
"Of course we'll have fun, isn't that right kid?"
"Your now my B.D.F.F. Spike!"
"Huh?" Spike asked
"Best Dragon Friend Forever!" Skyla answered.
"Oh, come here you!" Spike said, as he pulled Skyla into a hug.
It was the next day and Spike & Skyla were walking through the town trying to figure out what to do.
"Hey kid, want to go down to Sugarcube Corner? Your Auntie Pinkie Pie hasn't seen you yet, so I thought maybe we could have a welcome to Ponyville party for you kid!" Spike asked
"Ooh good idea!" She said, as she ran ahead, then came back. "Where's Sugarcube Corner?" She asked
Spike chucked bit, & led her to their location. As they walked towards their desired destination, the duo heard an enchanting tune, they were both drawn to it. They followed this beautiful sound till they were at a door. "Spike then knocked on the door. The door opened revealing Vinyl Scratch.
" 'Sup Spike! Hey, who's the kid?" She asked.
"This is Princess Skyla, I'm foalsitting just so you know! Anyway, we were on our way to Sugarcube Corner till we heard music from this direction! Who's playing that It's beautiful?" Spike asked
"Oh, that's just my roommate Tavi!"
"Can we see her miss Scratch?" Asked Skyla
"Sure, I don't see why not!"
Vinyl led Spike & Skyla to the room the song was coming from.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Who is it?" the receiving end of the door asked
"It's me Tavi! Your Cello playing attracted a dragon & a princess to our house and they want to meet yah!"
She then opened the door. Spike's heart beat wildly, because the mare before him was beautiful to his eyes! The mare in question had: Grayish Mulberry eyes, Her mane was a lighter tint of Dark Gray, and her coat was Goldish Grey, wore a pink bowtie with a white collar, even though he wasn't looking, her Cutiemark was a treble clef and finally she was an earth pony.
"Hi miss Tavi!" Greeted Skyla
"Well hello you 2, I'm Octavia Melody! Please don't call me Tavi, 2 ponies calling me that is quite enough!"
"Let me guess, the other pony calling you Tavi is Pinkie isn't it?" Spike asked
"Yes, now what is it that the both of you request? I have to practice for the Canterlot music appreciation festival next month."
"We want to compliment you on your music, it's amazing, no lie!" Spike replied
Octavia blushed, nopony has ever complimented Octavia on her music before besides Vinyl. Nopony except some citizens of Canterlot ever listen to classical music anymore! So this was a rare occurrence!
"Y-you really think my music is lovely?" She asked
"Yeah, and for a coincidence, I'll be joining the festival by Celestia's orders!"
"Really? What instrument will you be playing & what form of music?" She asked. She was kid of surprised hearing that Princess Celestia ordered him! Octavia just signed-up, no orders or anything, she willingly did it!
"All forms of piano music." Spike answered
"(He must be really talented to have all forms of music!)" She thought.
Octavia stared at Spike for about 3 minutes.
"Well, guess we better get going kid! Bye Octavia." said Spike
"Bye-bye miss Melody!" said Skyla!
"Wait, what's your name ?" She asked
"I'm Spike the Dragon, #1 assistant to Princess Twilight Sparkle."
"Your the assistant to a P-princess? (Amazing, he's important, & I just made an awkward 1st impression on him!)"
"Yep, now I'll see yah later!"
"Wait, would you like t-to come over tomorrow for a practice session with me?" She asked
"I don't know, I gotta watch Skyla! So kid, you want to comeback here tomorrow?"
"Yeah! I love listening to Miss Melody's wonderful music!" She answered.
"Alright, see yah girls tomorrow!" Said Spike, walking down the stairs
"Bye Spike!" Said Vinyl, who closed the door after they left.
Octavia looked out the window, she ha no idea what was going on with her, she silently stared out the window till Vinyl said...
"Woah, your crushing on Ponyville's only dragon?"
"How did you know?" Octavia asked in shock!
"Come-on, we've been BFF's since kindergarten, I know you!"
"Well, your right, I have fallen had over heels for him!"
"Don't worry, I'll help you out win his affections. After all, I signed up for the festival as well!"
"Thanks Vinyl, your always a good friend!"
"And don't you forget it pal!" Vinyl said, giving Octavia a hug.
"Oof!" Grunted the little princess, trying to fly!
"Geez, you still can't fly yet? I thought you had some sort of private tutor or something for that!" Spike said!
"I have dozens of those, but I just can't be taught!" Skyla said while looking at Spike. "I feel like I might be the 1st Alicorn who wont be able to fly till I'm 1000! I wish I could experience flying" Skyla was about to cry, till Spike picked her up & placed her on his back! "Hey, what are you doing?"
"Relax, now I'm gonna help you live that experience, now tell me if I'm going to high or too fast, got it?"
"Got it Spike!"
"Here go!"
With that, Spike ran as fast as he could, then he made a big leap, then started to flap his wings, allowing him to glide low to the ground, so if Skyla fell off, she could run after him! That's when a stampede of cows were running right behind them!
"AH, higher Spike!"
"You don't need to tell me twice kid!"
They soared higher, so the stampede wouldn't run over them, so now the 2 were soaring over a stampede that was soon quickly taken care of bye Applejack & Winona! After that, they went to thank Applejack
"Thanks for the save A.J. your always the pony we citizens Ponyville can always count on!" He said
"Don't mention it Spahk, say, who's that you got on your back?"
"Oh, hi auntie A.J.!" Said Skyla.
"Well, well, well, if it aint Skyla! How've you been doin & what are yah doin here?" asked Applejack
"Mommy, daddy and aunt Twilight hired Spike to be my foalsitter!" She answered.
"Aw, that was nice of them, Spike hasn't been in the line of work since Twilight became independent! Well, see yah, Ah gotta buck apples, see ya'll later!"
"Later, Applejack, Skyla's still gotta a lot of experience to earn before she can learn how to fly!" Spike said, as him & Skyla flew in the opposite, direction. The 2 later flew over to a pond, Fluttershy was feeding her aquatic animal friends, till the sac of food was grabbed from her, and Skyla sprinkled all of it into the pond for the fish & other aquatic creatures to eat! Fluttershy was surprised, then giggled a bit, the 2 then waved bye to Fluttershy as Skyla requested that they flew higher into the clouds!
"Promise not to tell your parents or Twilight about this got it?"
"Got it!" And with that, they flew past Rainbow Dash & Scootaloo who just finished clearing the sky! RD & Scoots took Spike's fly bye as a challenge and then zipped towards him! Scootaloo on the left, Rainbow Dash on the right! Spike chuckled a bit and then asked Skyla if she would like to go faster & Skyla shook her head yes!
"Hold on Skyla, for this is going to be fast!"
Spike flew ahead, Rainbow & Loo only responded by going faster! They passed by Spike, thinking they beat his challenge, but when they thought that, they didn't notice what was heading towards them until it was too late, they slammed into 7 flocks of birds, then a swarm of bees which stung them, then a swarm of changelings, then that one person in your neighborhood or apartment building who's always angry, then a swarm of parasprites, then Derpy Hooves who's now Derpy Whooves, the PPG, Rodan from the Godzilla franchise, Hyper Sonic the Hedgehog, another flock of birds, Gilda, that one person in your neighborhood or apartment complex you suspect is a pedophile, human's shoes raining down from above, Choujin Sentai Jetman, Number 42: Starship Galaxy Tomahawk, Quagmire's biplane that he used to help Peter kill that robotic version of Miley Cyrus, Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack, then finally slamming into a mountain! OOH! Somepony call a medic! The 2 laughed hysterically, then decided to head back to the library.
"Today was fun!" Said Skyla
"You can say that again, did you have fun?" Spike asked
"More than you know Spike!"
"Hah, my favorite part was when Number 42 hit them!"
"My favorite part was when they were hit by that grey-Pegasus!"
The 2 laughed, then later after dinner, brushing their teeth, and short bedtime story, they both went to bed! Spike prepared the guest bed across from Twilight's just incase she had a bad dream & since Twilight wasn't home, he'd use her bed. Yeah, these 2 are becoming great friends!
It's now the next day and as promised, Spike & Skyla went to Vinyl & Octavia's house to listen to Octavia's great Cello music.
"AW YEAH, WELCOME BACK! Come-on, Tavi's just warming-up!"
"It's nice to see you too Vinyl, thanks for letting us in." Spike said, being polite
"Hi miss Scratch, you should've seen Spike this morning!" Skyla said, while walking into the living room.
"What happened?" Asked Vinyl
"Nothing happened, don't listen to her, you know how wild a child's imagination can be!" Spike nervously said.
"Tell me kid, what did this guy do?"
"Well..."
*Flashback*
"YAWN! huh, what's that sound?" Skyla wondered, as she got out of bed and then walked into the bathroom, to see Spike, freshening-up, obviously to make himself look presentable to Octavia, his new true love!
"Spike, what are you doing?" She asked
"GAH! Just go to the kitchen, I already made you breakfast!"
*End of Flashback*
"Bwa ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, nice!" Vinyl said, trying to stop.
Spike was very embarrassed, but didn't care, for he was going to see Octavia again! They opened the door to her room & Octavia had just finished warming-up.
"Hey Tavi, their here!" Said Vinyl
"Why can't you knock like a normal pony?" she asked annoyed, but her annoyance turned to longing as she saw Spike enter. "H-hello, welcome back to my humble abode Spike & Princess Skyla." She greeted
"Thanks, the pleasure is mine & Skyla's" said Spike
"HI Again miss Melody"
"Alright, shall we begin?" She asked.
All 3 nodded yes, then she started playing! Spike recognized this song, it was a love song by that teenage colt who visited Ponyville last month, trying to woo Rarity, but in Cello form but of course the teenage colt had no idea Rarity was dating Fancy Pants. Back when Spike was 11 years old, Princess Cadence told him this song that Octavia was playing was a special one, where it can only be played for the one your deeply in love with & Octavia glanced a few times at Spike and he noticed all of her glances at him! She was deeply in love with Spike and he felt the same way as well! After the song ended, Skyla & Vinyl were clapping while Spike sat there, lost in thought, he couldn't believe what had happened, nopony in Ponyville had ever confessed to him & he had no idea what to do!
"I love you too!" Spike uncontrollably said.
"Y-you recognize that song!?" Octavia gasped in shock, but the shock turned to a smile, after hearing Spike say he loved her.
The 2 ran to each other & hugged passionately and then kissed!
"WOO GO TAVI, YEAH!" Yelled Vinyl
"Aw, how cute! But not as cute as me!" Skyla said, stealing the scene!
Spike & Octavia looked into each other's eyes, knowing that they will make great music together, whatever that saying means!
It's now the end of the week, and Shining, Cadence, and Twilight, all arrived back to Ponyville.
"Spiiiiike! I'm home!" Called out Twilight.
"Come-on kiddo, Mommy & Daddy are here to pick you up!" Called out Shining Armor.
"Aww, guess playtime is over, al well, see you next time Spike!" Skyla said, in a sad voice, because she was having such a blast for the past week. Pinkie Pie even made an actual blast, when she fired a party cannon the size of adult Spike! She wanted the party to go all around Ponyville since a princess was there that day!
"See you next time Skyla! Keep-on practicing! Soon, just like your aunt Twilight here! You'll get the hang of your wings in no time!" Spike said, messing-up her mane a little.
The 3 said there goodbyes & left, as soon as the door closed, Twilight asked...
"You & Skyla look like really great friends, what happened while we were gone?"
Meanwhile...
"Mommy, Daddy?"
"What is it sweetheart?" Asked Shining.
"Yes, what is it dear?" Asked Cadence.
"Can we go to the Music Appreciation Festival in Canterlot next month?"
"Yes, anything for you, our #1 Daughter." Said Cadence
Days later...
It's now the Canterlot Music Appreciation Festival, and Twilight & Spike met-up with Octavia & Vinyl!
"Hey girls!" Spike greeted.
"'Sup dragon!" replied Vinyl.
"Hello dear!" said Octavia, who was very nervous! Here's the reason:
Spike had told Octavia about his family-like bond with Princess Twilight Sparkle! She didn't just meet a royal, she didn't just meet Spike's BFF, she also meet the mare who was basically both Spike's big sister & mother, and she didn't want to make a bad 1st impression! I bet you'd get nervous as well if you met your Boyfriend's/Girlfriend's or Fiance's parents for the 1st time! I bet you'd get even more nervous if you met a royal or a very important person for the 1st time as well! HELL, I bet you'd be scared shitless if that person was both!
"H-hello, it's an honor to meet you, Princess Twilight Sparkle." Octavia said, while bowing down in respect.
"Rise friend, you don't need to do that. We're all friends here! So, you're the mare who's been loving my boy?"
"Y-yes, I hope we can make beautiful music together in this festival, since Spike will be performing all forms of Piano, even classical, which would happen to be my genre!" She said, with the boost of confidence she obtained.
Then Spike & Twilight were tackled!
"SPIKE, AUNT TWILIGHT!" shouted the thing that tackled them!
"Oh hey Twilight, fancy meeting you here! We actually only expected Spike to be here!" Said Cadence.
Twilight had a confused expression wondering why they only expected Spike, and not her!
"Well, the music is about to start anyway, I suggest we head to our seats!" Twilight said.
"Good-luck out there Spike, my love!" said Octavia
"You too!" replied Spike
They kissed, then left! So much great music in many forms were being performed there! Classical, Jazz, Rap, Pop, R & B, Metal, Orchestral, etc. etc.! Later, It was the final genre of music, ROCK & ROLL!
"Hello Canterlot, I'm Jack the Chimera, I'll be providing lead guitar & lead vocals! The Dragon next to me is Black Heart, he'll be providing bass & back-up vocals! Last but not least, the Minotaur you see to this side of me is Fire Fist, he'll be providing drums! Now that we're all here! LET'S KIDNAP PRINCESS SKYLA!!!" He cried out!
"What?" Spike said.
"Then, they fired magical blasts from their instruments, it scared the citizens out of their seats. The blasts sent Cadence, Shining and Twilight flying, the evil trio then grabbed Skyla & then Jack pulled out a remote, pressed the only button on it, & a blimp appeared, which they all jumped into!
"Somepony save me!" Skyla cried out!
The 3 royals soon regained consciousness & they were P to the I to the S-S-E-D, CELESTIA BUCKING PISSED!
"Let's go girls!" Commanded Shining Armor!
The 3 ran after the blimp, shooting magical blasts at it! sadly, the blimp was being protected by a barrier that protects against magic!
"GRR! It's not working, their barrier isn't letting us use magic on it!" A very pissed Twilight said.
Meanwhile...
"Spike, wait!" Said Octavia
"Why, I gotta save Skyla!?" he asked in a rage
"Please, don't die!" She said, as she kissed Spike.
"Let's make a promise, if I return, we'll get married! Is that Okay with you?" He asked
Octavia nodded & then Spike flew off!
Spike flew to the 3 royals, still in pursuit of the blimp!
"What's going on? Why hasn't that balloon popped yet?" he said to them
"A barrier isn't letting us destroy it with magic!" Twilight replied.
"Well, if magic doesn't work, then why not might?" asked a voice, they turned to see Rainbow Dash, Spitfire, Soarin, Scootaloo, and Lightning Dust, Flying next to them in a V formation!
"Yes! Twilight, it just might work!" Agreed Scootaloo!
Before Twilight could tell them how much of a stupid plan that was, they all flew towards the blimp, but the blimp fought back, firing cannonballs, but they dodged them with ease, but the cannons were fast auto reloading cannons!
"Now why would an aircraft with a magic barrier need to protect against air based attacks for, unless... oh drat, Rainbow dash was right!" Twilight said, with an annoyed voice, which just added to the anger she had now!
"Shining, stay here & get ready to destroy that blimp with a big magical blast, Twilight, Cadence, let's go!" Spike commanded
Spike had the most serious face in Equestrian history, they haven't seen him with that kind of face before! Twilight & Cadence agreed, & flew to either side of Spike & infiltrated the blimp!
"Hold-on Skyla, your mom, aunt Twilight, & foalsitter are coming to save you!"
"Princess Skyla, we're coming to save you!" Spike cried out!
"That's what you think!" Said a voice!
Suddenly, the Dragon, named Black Heart appeared!
"Black Heart, very fitting wouldn't you 2 agree?" said Twilight
"Make all the jokes you want! But this is as far as you'll ever get! Once we get away, we'll cut-off Skyla's horn!" Black Heart said
"What? why?" Spike wondered
"Yes, once we cut it off, we'll use it's yet untapped power to rule the world!" Black Heart as then bucked in the face by both Cadence & Twilight!
"We'll take care of this guy! You go & save my daughter!" Cadence commanded.
"I wont fail you, as it is my duty as Skyla's foalsitter to make sure she's happy, & that's what I'm gonna do!" He then saluted to the princesses & left, then the 2 prepared themselves, ready to fight Black Heart!
Later...
"HI-YAH!" Yelled a voice that came crashing down in front of Spike! It was Fire Fist the Minotaur! He was about to punch Spike till Scootaloo burst through the right wall, bucking fire Fist right in the head! Spike gave her a thumbs-up & then left her, as she readied herself for a fight with a minotaur!
"Once I'm through, you'll become Kentucky Grilled Chicken!"
"Just try it!"
Later...
Spike made it to the door of the cockpit! He punched it down and what he saw, he didn't like one bit! Skyla was tied down to a chair & crying. Jack was holding a bone-saw, so close to her forehead! after seeing this, Spike became filled with the rage only a dragon could have!
"You...WILL DIE NOW!!!" Spike then blasted a fireball at Jack, but Jack blocked it back with his guitar! Jack then shot electricity from his guitar, but Spike's rage mode made him swifter than a ninja! He Side stepped all of Jack's electrical attacks, walking closer & closer to him! Jack then summoned a blizzard from his guitar, but was countered by Spike's mini-sun! Jack fired a boulder, that was turned to pebbles by Spike's punch! Jack fired some fireballs, but they were all absorbed into Spike mouth & he shot them right back, only this time, the fireballs were twice the size! the fireballs all hit Jack! As jack was Coughing-up smoke, Spike grabbed his guitar, then mashed it! Spike finished the jackoff known as Jack off with a slash of his claws! He then freed Skyla! Cadence, Twilight, and Scootaloo were all outside the blimp, waiting for Spike! Skyla was overjoyed, her B.D.F.F had just saved her! Then Jack got back-up, pulled out his remote, & pressed the button it! Then a trapdoor beneath Spike & Skyla opened-up & the 2 started falling!
"Princess!" Spike flew towards Skyla, who fell faster than him! Spike was flapping his wings, he wasn't going to make-it! Skyla thought she as going to die, but then she remembered Spike's words from Friday! That if she believes & be brave, she can fly! She closed her eyes and concentrated on those words & those words only! It seemed like the end till she opened her eyes & found herself floating in mid-air, she turned to see that she had done it! Skyla was flying, she has now become one with the sky! Spike noticed that she wasn't falling anymore & instead flying! Everypony else saw what she was doing & cheered! Spike & Skyla reunited with Cadence, Shining, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Scootaloo, Lightning Dust, Spitfire, and Soarin on the ground.
"You did it Spike, thank you!" Cadence said, while she & Shining were comforting Skyla!
"Good job my #1 Assistant!" Twilight congratulated, while patting Spike on the back!
"Spike!" cried Octavia!
