Octavia sat on the couch of her shared apartment sipping her tea, It was midday the sun was shining reflecting off the clear brown liquid as the small fragments of tea leaves stirred two bright purple irises watching there gentle swirling motion it was time. As if right on cue the door in the back room swung open hitting the wall with a loud thud screechy yelling was heard in the background.
"That's the last time Scratch! Get some other pony to be your late night booty call!" Marched a very angry and teary Berry Punch all Octavia could do was watch as the pink mare ran out of the apartment slamming the door behind her, from behind the couch light hoof steps could be heard followed by a stifled yawn.
"That's the fourth crier this week what did you do this time?" Octavia questioned as she sipped her tea as a white mess plopped on the couch beside her.
"I was just that good" Said a smug white unicorn with messy two toned blue hair.
"That's your answer every time Vinyl also your nose is bleeding again" Octavia rolled her eyes at her best friend handing her a tissue.
"Only cause its true" Vinyl winked at Octavia as she ruffled her mane back to its normal style clogging her nostrils with tissue.
"Why don't you try having a nice healthy relationship that doesn't involve you getting punched in the snout after making love?" Octavia questioned half sarcastically half serious.
"Maybe i like the abuse? And its not love making its just...relief" Vinyl smiled at Octavia like an idiot.
"In all seriousness Vinyl..." Octavia gave her best friend a serious stare she always did wonder why she only ever had one night stands, Octavia never recalled Vinyl ever being in a proper relationship and couldn't help wonder why, perhaps she was afraid of...attachment? Love maybe?.
"Ugh come on Tav its to early to be talking about this shit" Vinyl flopped again resting her back legs on Octavia's lap as she sprawled out on the couch.
"Its nearly lunch time and i want to know, Are you afraid of a relationship?" Octavia wasn't letting up on the topic.
"Nope" Vinyl sat up crossing her arms.
"Love?" Octavia continued to prod.
"Nope" Vinyl's smirk began to falter.
"Then what Vinyl! What is so bad about having a relationship!?" Octavia didn't realize she was practically yelling in Vinyls face.
"I'm waiting on the one Octavia now drop it!" Vinyl yelled back and it fell silent before Octavia spoke up once again.
"The one as in your one true love? Vinyl that's so...not like you?" Octavia looked over at Vinyl who was trying to avoid eye contact.
"Its crummy i know" Vinyl huffed in defeat.
"Its not crummy its wonderful so why do you have sex with so many mares if your waiting on the one?" Octavia was still a little confused by her friends theory's.
"Its hard to explain Tav" Vinyl sighed as she finished her sentence.
"At least try Vinyl please for me?" Octavia looked at her friend with pleading purple spheres, Without a doubt Octavia cared about Vinyl immensely they had been friends for so long since they were foals just starting in foal school.
"Ugh she knows i cant resister those beautiful purple eyes of hers she knows me all to well" Thought Vinyl as she got lost in the amazing shade of purple that was Octavia's soul.
"Vinyl?" Octavia interrupted the unicorns thoughts.
"Huh? Oh um well i guess i don't get into relationships because iv'e already found my one true love i'm just waiting for her to...love me back" Vinyl finished leaving a twisted look on Octavia's face.
"But all the one night stands? Why don't you just tell her or ask her?" Octavia's brain was on fire her friends relationship methods made no sense.
"There only one night stands there's no love there, Their merely for stress relief purposes usually after work and the only reason i don't tell her or ask her is because the friendship i have with her is special and if she doesn't feel the same way it would ruin it" Vinyl had a more serious tone as she tried to explain to grey mare in front of her.
"But what if she does love you back? What if yous never get together?" Octavia was intrigued she never thought the Unicorn was the type of mare to believe in such things as a one true love.
"I wont risk it id rather not push my feelings onto her and if she never admits it to me i will just be happy to be considered a close friend and i would be fine dying alone knowing i was close to her because there is no one else in Equestria id rather be with and if i cant have her then there is no need for other relationships does that make sense?" Vinyl was half blushing as she tried to explain her idea of love.
"That's both romantic and crazy...so who is she?" Octavia was more then intrigued shed never realized Vinyl was the romantic type considering she always brought a strange mare home and then practically threw her out in the morning if they didn't punch her in the face and leave on their own first.
"Oh shes fascinating and very beautiful you and her would get along swimmingly Oh and those eyes to die for i could look into those eyes all day and night if you get what i mean" Vinyl gave a wink and kept on teasing Octavia now she couldn't possibly reveal that her feelings were for her.
"Oh? And where does this mare live?" Octavia was very interested now why it could be a neighbor of there's.
"Ponyville i see her pretty much everyday you do to" Vinyl spoke calmly as if it was normal she technically wasn't lying Vinyl assumed Octavia looked at herself daily in the mirror when she was grooming that silky charcoal mane of hers.
"Ugh that could be any mare in Ponyville!" Octavia crossed her hooves as she thought deeply on who the special mare could be not noticing two red ruby's watching adoringly as she looked at the floor thoughtfully one hoof to her chin.
"Yep that's right well i'm gonna go down to Sugar Cube Corner stuff my face and then crawl into bed i'm beat wanna join me?" Vinyl chucked on her saddle bag and began heading towards the door.
"Yer sure i am hungry after all wait you just woke up how could you possibly need more sleep?" Asked Octavia as she jumped off the couch following Vinyl outside of their tiny home in Ponyville. It was a short walk to sugar cuber corner the two mares making small talk on their way, Vinyl was the first to walk in jingling the small belle on the top of the door. The two mares sat at a table for two with Mr and Mrs cake coming over to welcome them and take their order.
"Ill have two apple cupcakes a blueberry pie and a slice of carrot cake oh and ill top it off with some Apple Cider please, What do you want Tav? My treat" Vinyl smiled and thought about the treats she ordered.
"Could i please have the blueberry cheesecake and a cup of tea please" Octavia gave a small smile and handed the menus over to Mr and Mrs cake receiving a cheery nod as they went off to fetch their orders.
"Really that's all? you could of had more you know?" Vinyl questioned the grey mare.
"I don't want to get to pudgy" Octavia huffed and puffed up her cheeks.
"Is it cause your trying to impress Frederick?" Vinyl had her shit stirring tone on again she knew Frederick liked Octavia but was curious to see if Octavia was into the young stallion herself.
"Not quite hes really not my type" Octavia looked away to see their orders being brought to the table.
"Gees girl what is your type you've rejected every stallion that's shown interest in you" Vinyl stated taking a bite of her cupcake. Octavia was about to answer before a mint green mare by the name of Lyra and a yellow creamy mare by the name of Bon Bon walked in the three of the four mares glared at each other excluding Octavia their small rivalry taking play as the two mares walked in they began whispering amongst themselves.
"Oh look its Vinyl and her new catch" Lyra whispered into Bon Bons ear.
"Ha ha yeah for the night" Bon Bon replied, Not realizing Vinyl had caught every word they had said.
"You got a problem Heartstrings!" Vinyl yelled from her seat at the mint green unicorn.
"Vinyl calm down..." Octavia began to sink into her chair trying not to make a scene.
"No! i don't care what these two losers say about me but the second they bring you into this i wont stand for it" Vinyl stood on all fours Lyra meeting her half way Bon Bon following closely behind.
"Best listen to your new horse Vinyl!" Lyra spat clearly wanting a fight.
"You take that back or shits gonna get uglier then your filly friends face!" Vinyls teeth were gritted in anger and Lyra threw the first hoof decking Vinyl in the snout fresh blood began to flow from her nostrils, Vinyl got back up tackling Lyra to the ground both mares started throwing hooves. The fight burst outside of Sugar Cube Corner a bruised and sore Lyra flying through the doors onto the dirt road.
"Anything else you wanna say about Octavia Lyra!?" Yelled Vinyl as she came out of the shop, Lyra was struggling to get up spitting some blood out of her mouth as Bon Bon ran past Vinyl towards her.
"Vinyl please stop! Its not worth it!" Octavia ran out in front of Vinyl and stopped her from advancing towards a damaged Lyra.
"But she-" Vinyl was cut of by a hoof from Octavia.
"Please lets just go home" Octavia was on the verge of tears.
"Okay...Okay lets go home" Vinyl positioned herself next to Octavia and began leading the way back home.
"Bucking bitch" Lyra mumbled as she got up with some help form Bon Bon. The two mares walked the opposite way of Vinyl to avoid more conflict not interested in the little store anymore.
The walk home was quiet and when they arrived Vinyl pushed the door open effortlessly with her magic and flopped on the couch still sour from Lyra's words. Octavia walked in closing the door gently behind them she gave a quick glance at the bloody faced unicorn and walked into the kitchen grabbing the first aid kit. Octavia sat next to Vinyl and opened the first aid kit.
"Oh Vinyl what were you thinking" Octavia began wiping the blood off the stained unicorns muzzle.
"No pony calls you a horse no one, specially that smart mouth Lyra" Vinyl crossed her arms as she let Octavia tend to her minor injuries.
"You should of just walked away and been the bigger mare" Octavia mumbled as she walked to the fridge grabbing a frozen bag of daisies to put on Vinyls blackening eye.
"I am the bigger mare did you see how small her horn is" Vinyl began to chuckle at her own joke.
"That's not what i meant Vinyl" Octavia grumbled through her teeth as she lifted up the bag of frozen flowers placing them gently on Vinyls black eye.
"Ah ah cold cold" Vinyl squirmed underneath Octavia making her fall on top of her.
"Don't be such a sook Vinyl" Octavia corrected herself not realizing she was straddling Vinyl. Vinyl was in a daze the mare of her dreams was straddling her and tending to her wounds her front hooves slowly crept up on there own resting on the grey mares hips and she couldn't help but wear a small smile an adoring eye looking up at the cute concerned mare who was unaware as she dabbed her friends damaged eye.
"I love you" Thought Vinyl as she adored the grey mare who had suddenly stopped in her tracks for some unknown reason snapping Vinyl out of her trance somewhat.
"What...what did you just say?" Octavia didn't even look at Vinyl she just sat there stunned as if she was looking through the unicorns head.
"What?" Vinyl began to panic did she just say that out loud?.
"You...you just said" Octavia removed the makeshift ice pack and looked Vinyl in the eyes.
"Nope didn't say anything your bow must be to tight, Hey look at that gotta shower for work tonight bye!" Vinyl pushed Octavia off onto the couch and fled for the bathroom starting up the shower, Vinyl stood in the bathroom looking in the mirror Lyra really did get her good in the eye.
"Scratch you moron what the hell was that" Vinyl mentally slapped herself and hopped into the shower washing away her troubles. The water stopped running and Vinyl dried herself off she then peeked outside the door and looked for any signs of Octavia and made a dash for her bedroom. Vinyl lay on her bed in deep thought what if she loses Octavia to her stupid splurge of affection stupid stupid stupid knock knock stupid stupid....wait Knock knock? Oh god shes knocking on my door think fast sleep your asleep.
"I'm asleep!" Vinyl face hoofed.
"I know your not sleeping can i please come in Vinyl?" Octavia's voice was gentle with a hint of worry.
"Wait-" Vinyl tried to get up to stop her entering but got tangled in her messy sheets and fell off the bed face first.
"Vinyl are you okay!?" Octavia ran up to check on her friend.
"Fine great fantastic got a black eye have another bleeding nose and i'm an idiot" Vinyl sat up resting her back on her bed her messy blue mane covering her face.
"Your not an idiot Vinyl" Octavia came in close moving Vinyls mane out of her face gently wiping blood off her nostrils with a nearby tissue how many times can a unicorns nose bleed in one day anyway?.
"Yea i am and now iv'e said something i shouldn't of" Vinyl looked at the ground still displeased with herself.
"Did you mean it?" Octavia came in closer closing the space between them, Vinyl couldn't escape now she was backed up against her bed with the one and only mare shed fallen in love with since they were foals and here she was begging to know if she really did mean what she had spoke a mere half hour ago.
"Yes" Vinyl was serious and stern with her tone no hesitation the answer would either make or break her.
"So i'm the one?" Octavia was beginning to tremble awaiting the answer silence engulfed the two mares as they stared into each others eyes.
"Yes...you have always been the one Octavia" Vinyl closed her eyes and lent her head back on the bed feeling defeated, Till she felt a pair of soft warm lips on hers she didn't open her eyes she just lent into the kiss more it felt like hours but in reality it was a mere 15 seconds as the two mares broke apart Octavia lent into Vinyls chest and sat on the floor feeling Vinyl wrap her hooves around her waste they both embraced each other in a hug.
"For how long?" Octavia whispered in her roommates ear.
"From the very first day i saw you back in foal school the moment i looked into your eyes my heart just clicked i didn't know what it meant back then cause i was to young but as we grew up together i realized what it was it was love i love you...Octavia" Vinyl spoke quietly tears threatening to fall those words just felt amazing being able to say them out loud and to no one other then Octavia she was the one the only special somepony who was meant to hear those words.
"I love you to Vinyl..." Octavia gave a huge sigh of relief and hugged Vinyl tightly she to had clicked that first day the two mares met but never questioned it, it felt like chains being removed from her heart she felt free.
"I always thought you were into stallions" Vinyl hugged Octavia tight as if this was all a dream and she was going to float away or vanish.
"Have you ever seen me date a stallion let alone show interest in a stallion?" Octavia made some space between them so she could lift Vinyls chin up to look into her eyes.
"...No, so wait if you have never dated a stallion and to my knowledge you've never dated a mare your....a virgin?" Vinyl was extremely intrigued by this question could her perfect chosen mate actually be perfectly innocent and untouched?
"Ye...yes i am..." Octavia blushed furiously trying to look away, Vinyl smiled and brought Octavia in gently kissing her on the lips slowly the two mares deepened the kiss and made their way to the floor Vinyl laying on top stroking Octavia's mane the world began to shut out it was just them two holding each other until.
*Knock knock*
The two mares stopped instantly focusing on the knocks at the front door both blushing furiously.
"I should go get that" Whispered Octavia pushing Vinyl off gently getting up to answer the door.
"Yep you go get that god dam door..." Vinyl continued to mumble of course shed get interrupted when her and Octavia had finally come together, Vinyl got up to follow Octavia and see who dared to interrupt such an occasion she hopped on the couch waiting for the intruder.
Octavia opened the door a tall firmly built stallion stood at the door he was almost the same shade of grey as Octavia only darker he had the same colored mane that flicked up into a perfect curl and had purple matching eyes and a gentle smile.
"Xavier...Is that really you?" Octavia squealed and tackled her older brother in a big hug.
"Hey there sis long time no see" Xavier returned the hug he'd missed his little sister it had been far to long.

"Come in take a seat i have so much to tell you! Would you like some tea?" Octavia trotted into the kitchen and put the kettle on.
"Some tea would be lovely" Replied Xavier as he trotted in placing his saddlebags on the floor.
Xavier followed after his sister into the kitchen not realizing a pair of Red irises were watching from the lounge room. After Octavia made the tea the two walked into the lounge room and sat down still not noticing Vinyl.
"A nice little home you have here Octavia do you live here alone?" Xavier gave a small smile.
"Well actually i-" Octavia was cutoff.
"Hey! My names Vinyl nice to meet you!" Vinyl beamed almost sarcastically both Xavier and Octavia jumped at the sudden burst of noise.
"No i don't live alone...this is Vinyl shes my..." Octavia's brain snapped what was Vinyl to her now? A lover? she couldn't possibly say that to her brother.
"Best friend and roommate pleasure to meet you" Vinyl put her best Canterlot accent on pretending to be snooty.
"A pleasure to meet you Miss Vinyl" Xavier got off the couch and kissed Vinyl on the hoof.
"Eww, Dude what the hell?" Vinyl yanked her hoof back while Octavia was giggling hysterically.
"My apologies Miss that's just how we treat a lady where i'm from you are a lady right Miss Vinyl?" Xavier had a teasing tone in his voice.
"You sir are a troll" Vinyl humphed knowing shed been had this time.
"That was hilarious! Vinyl this is my brother Xavier he can be quite the joker sometimes" Octavia explained between giggles.
"I'm sorry Vinyl i couldn't resist besides i know who you are Octavia talks about you all the time when she comes to visit" Xavier explained returning back to his gentle tone.
"Oh really?" Vinyl gave a sly grin towards Octavia.
"Don't tell her that she'll get a big head" Octavia blushed a little.
"I'm sorry i wont say anymore" Xavier chuckled.
"Awww but i wanna hear more about me" Vinyl began to pouting.
"Oh boy, So what owes me the pleasure of this visit brother?" Octavia was wondering why he had come such a long way on such short notice.
"Well for one i wanted to see my little sister but father did send me to fetch you" stated Xavier as he cleared his throat.
"Father wishes to see me?" Octavia began to go hoarse not realizing she was showing how nervous she was her and her father didn't really see eye to eye.
"Yes he wanted you to come play at his upcoming musicians party he heard you have had quite the success lately" Xavier gave a smile he was proud of his little sister.
"But...But what if i'm not good enough?" Tears began to prod at Octavia's eyes.
"Octavia babe whats wrong? Why the tears?" Vinyl got up off the couch and sat next to Octavia giving her a comforting hug.
"Our father is quite harsh when it comes to criticism" Xavier stated sadly.
"But shes fantastic amazing even how could he not like her work?" Vinyl was confused surely her own father would give her positive feedback?
"Well you see father believed only unicorns could play instruments properly so he neglected Octavia when it came to her musical talent" Xavier tried to explain to the white unicorn.
"I was never good enough he'd always tell me to give up and become some stallions house mare and bear foals" Octavia began to sniffle tears threatening to pour.
"That jerk! I ought to tell him who-" Vinyl was interrupted be a grey hoof.
"My father is harsh i know i don't agree with it myself but this could be a good chance to prove him wrong show him just what your capable of but of course if your not ready to face him Octavia i can always tell him you were busy or couldn't make it" Xavier came up and gave his sister a comforting hug.
"Yea come on Tavi you can prove just how awesome you are! make him eat his own words" Vinyl was punching her hooves up in the air.
"I...I don't know" Octavia was beginning to feel a little better about the situation perhaps she could prove him wrong.
"Its your choice either way your still my little sister and i still love you i understand why you wouldn't want to go" Xavier gave another hug this time Vinyl joined in.
"thanks you guys" Octavia hugged back and giggled a little.
"By the way this is a bit sudden but would i be able to stay the night?" Xavier smiled cheekily.
"Of course you can stay you can have my bed" Octavia smiled gently.
"Cool you can bunk with me then" Vinyl gave Octavia a wink.
"Cut it out Vinyl" Octavia was putting her serious face on trying to cover up her blush.
"Oh my so ladies whats for dinner?" Xavier let go of the two mares and sat back in the couch.
"Hmm i'm not sure Vinyl what do we have in the fridge?" Octavia looked at the white mare sitting next to her.
"Oh oh can we have daisy tarts please please please?" Vinyl was practically begging.
"Vinyl those are for breakfast" Octavia stated not amused.
"Sounds good to me"
"But brother..." Octavia was shocked to hear such a thing from her brothers mouth.
"See Xav gets it hes down daisy tarts it is heck ill even do the dishes!" Vinyl smiled and trotted into the kitchen to start cooking.
"There are no dishes after daisy tarts!" Octavia yelled into the kitchen as the white mare trotted away.
"That's mah point!" Vinyl yelled back as she got the toaster out Octavia face hoofed.
"Shes perfect for you" Xavier chuckled to himself.
"Huh?...Wait how did you...know?" Octavia was somewhat shocked and confused did her brother really know?.
"You just confirmed it besides i knew you were never into colts you practically avoided them like the plague when you were little" Xavier gave a cheeky smile and a chuckle.
"Ugh your such a devil i swear but don't go telling mother and father they'll hate me even more" Octavia plopped on the lounge defeated.
"They don't hate you they just don't know how to show they care" Xavier nudged his sister to try cheer her up.
"Cause that's so much better" Octavia rolled her eyes.
"Tarts are up!" Vinyl trotted in happily a plateful of warm daisy tarts stacked up.
"Great i'm starved" Cheered Xavier biting into a tart white goo dribbling out.
The three sat around eating there tarts and making small talk until it was time to go to bed, Octavia gave Xavier a quick tour of the house and showed him to his bed for the night and then left for Vinyls room, Octavia walked in yawning only to be greeted with a posing Vinyl two toned socks on each hoof.
"Like watcha see?" Vinyl smirked like an idiot.
"Vinyl!? Where did you even get those take them off!" Octavia blushed furiously no way was she going to have her first time or first night while her brother was in the house.
"But there sexy?" Vinyl pouted.
"Take them off my brothers under the same roof you weirdo" Octavia hopped on the bed with an unamused expression.
"Hmm no you'll have to take them off me...by force" Vinyl poked her tongue out.
"Fine!" Before Vinyl could react Octavia tackled her ripping the socks off one by one with her teeth leaving a very sock less naked scratch laying on the bed.
"Wow...i never thought socks could be removed that quick you must want it bad" Vinyl teased some more.
"No! No i don't!" Octavia blushed and turned away laying down on one side of the bed avoiding eye contact.
"Awww i'm just kidding i wouldn't force it on you anyway but we can spoon right? Spoonings awesome!" Vinyl smiled cheekily as she turned off the light.
"Fine" Octavia sighed pretending to be grumpy.
"You say it like you had a choice" Vinyl giggled and wrapped her arms around Octavia's waste nuzzling her snout into the crook of Octavia's neck making her shiver, The room was silent as the two mares enjoyed each others warmth.
"Goodnight Octavia...I love you" Vinyl added hugging her tighter.
"Goodnight Vinyl, I love you to" Octavia replied with a small smile on her face and the two mares fell asleep keeping each other warm.
