Chapter 1: Prologue
It was the third month in Sun's Hight. Rainbow Dash had been sitting at home when the call had come in. She packed up her stuff, boarded up her house, given Tank to Fluttershy to care for, and left for Noctalia in the southern providence. Upon getting there, she had been given her Mauve armour, and told to meet up with the training center on the southern side to test her abilities. As she slipped on the armour, She took notice of the crest on the back plating, in the arch or her wing-guards. Over a scratched-out Celestian Cross, was the symbol of the Lunar Republic of Noctalia. She felt comfort, knowing that she had been accepted to a good cause.
She walked up to two Stallions, both wearing the Brown Earth Pony armour. They turn to look at her as she walked in, "Greetings...I'm First Sargent, Danielle 'Rainbow Dash' Technicolor. I was sent here for training..."
The green stallion nods, "Good to have a famous mare like yourself on the team..." he points to the large warehouse in the corner of her vision, "Just ask for 'Claw-Hoof' Heartstrings and she'll point you in the right direction..."
"Thanks..." she calmly replied, giving them back their conversation.
Dash trots over to the warehouse, with-which, sounds of bullets hitting metal was heard in the distance. Dash feels a vibration in her pocket. She pulls out a Bluetooth with a screen attached, and loops it around her ear as she walked. The screen juts out, and covers her left eye, showing an overhead map, a readout of her side-arm she had attached to her belt, and a waypoint to that warehouse, "Modern Magic has no limits nowadays..." Dash sighed as she opened the door.
Inside was a firing range, and a weapons depot. She goes up to the green uniformed stallion, asking, "I was told to report to "Claw-Hoof" Heartstrings?"
"She's the turquoise mare at stall 7... She's venting anger right now, so try to stay on her positive side..."
Dash nodded, and took the assault rifle he had slid over to her. She slung it over her back and walked down the stalls. Reaching stall 7, she saw something she hadn't seen before. Attached to her hooves were robotic Gryphon's Claw. She was using them to use a Gryphonic weapon. As soon as Dash replied, "I see the war finally gave you hands, Lyra..." she stopped, and looked to her.
She smirks, "Yeah...I guess it has. You must be the new recruit to the L.A.S., then..." she takes another shot, shooting the turnip off of the overturned bucket.
"I am..." she says, eyeing all the turnips on the ground.
Lyra folds up her gun, and then dextrously clips it on, releases the clip, and flips it to dash, who catches it with her hoof, "Let's see what you've got..."
Dash loads the clip using her Bluetooth's Magically enhancing kinesis, and aims the gun down range. A series of targets pop up, and each one fall back the second it comes up. Wooden dummy after wooden dummy gets hit, and then replaced with a new enemy. After a few were hit, a wall of plywood comes up. Dash's bullets slice through, hitting the tagets on the other side. Her bullets in the clip Lyra had given were almost up, so she drops the gun, automaticly re-attaching itself to her waist, and she brings out her pistol. When a new dummy came up, a note had been placed on it, reading, "Behind you!"
Dash whips out a knife, and slams it into the Watermelon right behind her. Lyra, being the pony holding it, brings it down slowly, "I'm impressed by your fruit-killing abilities..." she chuckles, "That was pretty damn good for a pegasus. Most ponies miss the note..."
"These new H.U.D. scanners are pretty good at what they do..."
"Agreed..." Lyra waits for a moment, then responds, "Our Captain would like to meet with you before sending you into the field..."
Instantly, a dot appeared to the left of Lyra, and Dash followed it on her Overhead map to see a target over another warehouse over in the central area in an old aircraft hanger, "I'll see you later then, Heartstrings..."
"Same with you, Danielle..." she gives her friend a wave goodbye, and then frowns, pointing her pistol at the dummy that was left, knocking it's feathered head clean off, "Sloppy, sloppy ending...but she's good..." her own scanner activates, you got all that, Captain?"
"We are reviewing it now...she is too good at what she does..."
Lyra holsters her gun, "That's dash for you...now... What about that POI in 'Sand-Land' doing?"
The mare on the other side sighs, "The ZOP-40 are trying to collaborate, but the Zebra leaders are blocking many contact routes...We will find out what we have compiled, and we will get it to you as soon as possible..."
"Good luck, Princess... Hope you find what your looking for..."
"We will...Just takes time..."
Dash walked up to a canvas cover on a set of computers for the simulators with two soldiers with gas masks on. They pointed to the opening door, and she walked in. For some reason, they reminded her of her summer job back in flight school. She shivers at the thought; that factory creeped her out for some reason. Maybe it was the forman, Doctor Atmosphere, but she repressed that memory as she walked in. Another set of monitors were positioned just inside, and she saw a small group of soldiers talking to a midnight blue Alicorn she had met before. Princess Luna was looking her way, "Greetings, Sargent Dash. We have a course for you to complete..." She points to the ladder, "Climb, fly, or what ever suits you to get up to the platform to begin..."
"Thank you for-"
Luna cuts her off, "We can speak after you reach position 7 in under 60 seconds... The timer begins after you step inside the testing area..."
Luna walks over to the monitors, and watches as Dash flies up to position 0. She grabs the Flashbangs, and replaces her empty gun with the new one, this one was slightly hampered, but it still felt natural to Her. She goes to the rope, and slides down, "Position One!" she hears Luna say in her earpiece.
Tagets pop up, and dash moves right, shooting each target of an armed gryphon, planting two bullets in each.
"Position Two!"
She runs past the fallen stand-ins, and glides down the stairs, getting a good shot on the one down at the bottom.
"Positon Three! Use the Flashbangs!"
She looks down the hall, and throw a Flashbang into the empty room, and a few targets pop up. Having taken cover in prevention from being blinded, she rolls into position four, getting few badly executed shots in on the cardboards enemies.
"Position Five!"
She chucks another Flashbang down the other hallway, and taking out her pistol as she took cover. Running past position six, she shot the remaining two Gryphons and runs out into the main area, sliding into position seven.
"10 seconds..." Luna cries out, "Wow...the rumours were true. We had heard of your speed, but this tops our expectations..." She walks up to Luna, and the Princess leads her out, "Come...We have things to tell you..."
As they walked out, the guys at computers salute Luna as they walk to the main barracks, "Princess...I-"
"Call us by Captain Luna, Sargent..." the pervious Leader walked with her to a tall building; most likely her HQ.
She looks at the Alicorn in the dark blue armour, "So...Luna...why did you-"
"We wanted freedom of the role of Commander of the Army, and we thought the tactics position was the better role for us..." she looks at dash, "Are we to understand that you feel uncomfortable around royalty?"
"Not at all, Captain..." she saluted, and then sings the gun over her shoulder, just tell me what to do...I'm ready for anything..."
Luna smiles, "I bet you are..." She open the door to the tower, "We have just the job for you, Dash..."
They enter, and the door shuts.
