Three ponies find that as time goes on, you can't stop entropy from increasing... This entropy is rising due to the release of the dark half of the Elements of Balance, the Elements of Entropy. Created by discord, these half of the elements were made to counter the other half of the elements known as the Three states of balance Order, Spirit, and Form.

Well now with the return of Discord, the Elements of Entropy have escaped hoping to find hosts and wreak everything in their path without anything stopping them. As the Second Law of Thermodynamics states... "Entropy of an Isolated system never decreases". In common terms saying once these element holders begin to wreak havoc in Equestria, the chaos will permanently increase... Which would be good and all for Discord, but as this chaos grows more and more ponies will get hurt.

Will the States of Balance find their rightful bearers? Will Equestria be freed from all this Madness?

We will just have to wait and see... :)

Prologue

Please note that this fan-fiction is placed in a world with no Mane 6, Elements of Harmony, etc...

All was well this starry night in Equestria. It was getting to that time where everypony that had a job in the town of Baltimare was packing up their briefcases to enjoy their commute home after a long day of work.

"Now I just need to finish filing these accursed papers, and then I can go home and get some shuteye..." A brown colored pony exclaimed rather loudly to himself.

The pony looked around to see if any of his fellow workers were still in the building, but alas there was no one... He was given closing duty today; as the building was empty.

He was obviously excited to get home! Once again the brown pony began shuffling through papers and finishing long, boring, and complicated paperwork. This job wasn't his dream job, but it definitely brought home enough money to feed his family. He began to put everything back into filing cabinets and reached out for the main set of building keys.

He began to sort through the keys trying to find the ones that would do all their respective closing of the day jobs such as turning of building lights, locking doors, and activating high tech security systems. As each duty was carried out by this pony one by one, he felt an abnormal chill in the air... Like someone was there...

Now having completed all of his tasks at hand, the jubilant pony began his journey through the streets of Baltimare back to his home where a wife and two fillies were awaiting his arrival. But something was becoming rather odd...

I could have sworn I had made a right turn at the correct street... The office-worker thought, realizing that he would never make such a mistake as to forget a simple turn. He now realized that he was in an alleyway.

As he took in his nearby surroundings, he seemed to have noticed that things were different from what they should be... almost like they were distorted.

"What in the bloody name of Celestia is going on here!!" The irritated yet also very scared pony cried out. The fear was becoming more and more apparent as he began looking at reality and space being twisted before his very eyes.

Something is definitely not right here...

SLAM!!!

An earth-shattering force struck the ground where he had been standing seconds before. Even though extremely injured from that last blow, he managed to stand up and take a look at the perpetrator before passing out. And what he saw he couldn't believe...

An extended hoof striking the ground at that one point, stretching all the way to the top of the alleyway. And standing there was a pony with a smirk on his face, laughing maniacally at the scene that had just taken place.

"Don't worry..." Said the mystery pony. "I just want your money, I won't kill you... This time at least!" He chuckled.

That's the last thing the worker saw before he collapsed, an orange pony making off with about 30 bits of pocket money...

Chapter 1: The beginning of the end

Celestia was sitting calmly on the throne, going about work just as any other normal day would have in store for her. While reading over the current relations in national affairs, she would occasionally look outside and wonder what life would be like without rulers and just the common people having their own opinions just like centuries before. Celestia has been noticing signs of random chaotic energy placed randomly throughout Equestria on about a weekly basis, and getting more frequent as the days pass.

A knock was heard ringing through the throne room as the doors opened and a pony from the royal guard (High in rank from the looks of Celestia) entered.

"Your Majesty... There has been another incident, this time in Baltimare!" The Royal guard member explained.

"Is this one any more serious than the other ones?" Celestia asked quizzically.

"Yes, there was a Office pony in Baltimare who was attacked. He said he saw a pony with incredulous powers... I don't know if this bit of information would be of any importance to you but..." The guard's word abruptly stopped.

"Go on...?" The look on Celestia's face seemed to tell that this next bit of information would confirm the current theory buzzing around in her mind. Don't tell me they are released already... She thought to herself.

"The perpetrator seemed to have control over the space around him, the pony said that he could see objects being twisted right in front of his face. And also the blow described by the pony, was a distorted hoof stretching down to strike him unconscious... The doctors say the blow never made physical contact with his body, but ended up created such an explosive force that he was knocked back several meters..." The guardsmen finished explaining.

Celestia's pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks. Her mouth completely agape, she dropped all of her paperwork and bolted out of the throne room as fast as possible. She was searching for Luna's room, she needed to tell her sister about the current events that have taken place. And what it would spell for Equestria if they didn't deal with it soon...

Celestia proceeded to slam open Luna's doors with incredible force causing a loud smack against the walls next to them.

"What is the meaning of this sister!!! Can't you see I'm playing a game!?" Luna brashly replied, only to be silenced instantly by Celestia's magic.

"They have gotten free... The Elements..." Celestia said with a tone that would even make the most optimistic of ponies worried. She wondered how her sister would react, and to her surprise she actually handled it quite well.

And then the rage was doubled...

"DISCORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Luna proceeded to shout using the all powerful Royal Canterlot Voice. A roar so powerful, that it could be heard for miles. Someone was in for it this time..

Discord then proceeded to materialize out of thin air resting comfortably on a hammock. Discord seems to have an equally distasteful look on his face as well.

"Look, if you are calling me about the Elements then I might as well put it bluntly. Because of my release it seems that my half of the Elements are now looking for or have hosts already. Blah blah blah blah, you must release your Elements to counteract mine before Equestria falls into eternal chaos... Naturally of course." Discord smirked.

"Now if you two would excuse me, I have some napping to catching up on..." Discord pouted as he teleported away to whatever napping spot he had chosen for the day...

Celestia sighed. "Well, me must release the Elements now and hope everything plays out well... If any of our Elements finds a host, find them and bring them here Luna" Celestia commanded, she was ready to see this through the end. And by the name of her beard she would.

Celestia went to sleep that night with the feeling of remorse, She had never thought the elements would break free so early. And her decision to keep them low profile until they needed resealing could lost the lives of many ponies...

I'm sorry...

Chapter 2: Shatter... Release...

All was quiet inside the halls of Canterlot Castle. All the guards were stationed at their corresponding posts, and all seemed to be fairly calm, even due to the fact that Equestria faced a new danger rising from the shadows. Two guard ponies were positioned in front of the grand doors leading to the room of Princess Celestia. Neither of the guards payed any attention to the approaching hoof steps of Princess Luna as she had come closer to the door.

"Guards, I must wake my sister. It is time to raise the Sun and begin our duties for the day. You both shall leave your post and return to the Barracks immediately." Said Luna.

Today was the day Celestia planned to release the Elements into the free world to find hosts. She had told Luna that she needed to sleep and regain all of her energy before releasing the them.

Luna opened the grand doors slowly and peaked her head in to see if Celestia was still asleep. She spotted her laying on the royal bed in a very strange position. She must not have slept well last night... I can't blame her, she told me it was her fault that Discord's side of the Elements escaped. She was going to reseal them later but never ended up doing so... And now it REALLY cost her. Luna thought with deep sympathy towards her sister as she neared her bedside.

"Sister, it is time to wake up..." Luna quietly spoke beside Celestia, nudging her slightly while doing so. "Thy plan was to release the Elements this morning, correct?" Luna asked.

"Yes sister just give me sometime to get ready..." She said as she had slouched up from her strange sleeping position.

Celestia got out of bed and walked to the balcony outside of her room. Luna following close behind, she stepped onto the balcony and prepared her magic to raise the Sun. Her horn lit up with a beam of yellow light while concentrating immensely on raising the huge solar mass from it's current place beneath the horizon. The Sun slowly began to rise and peak through the once dark and starry night, the beams of light beginning to make contact with various buildings in Canterlot as well as the Castle.

"Alright my dearest sister, I shall be getting ready. Feel free to wait for me outside of the door" Celestia said with a small smile. Luna walked outside the room and quietly shut the door behind her with her magic.

The next few minutes were spent on getting ready and looking presentable for the day. Her sleep had not been so great last night, so going outside of her room would have been a very weird sight for any of the guards she happened to pass by. She then went about her hygiene for the day, taking a shower, brushing her mane, and making sure she looked alright. She exited her bathroom back into the bedroom again, placing her golden regalia onto her hooves and head.

As she opened the door and left the room, Luna had been patiently waiting for her right beside the door where the previous guards would have been standing. "Art thou ready, sister?" Luna asked, knowing what the next course of action was.

"Yes, let us proceed to the Elements..." Celestia said sorrowfully.

As both of them were walking to the room, Luna's mind was beginning to fill up with questions that had been left previously unanswered years before about the crystals containing the Elements and their history.

"Celestia, how exactly were the Elements created?" Luna said out of nowhere. Clearly Celestia was not expecting her sister to become interested in the back-story of the crystals.

But she figured that she might as well tell her anyway...

"Well... When Equestria was first founded, Discord and I had some bad blood between each other. He wanted a world filled with Chaos, chaos, and nothing but chaos. But I wasn't going to let him... And that's when he created the three Elements Of Entropy, so that he could spread irreversible terror on all of the citizens of Equestria many millennium ago. He thought that these elements were powerful enough to sustain chaos on their own, and make the chaos permanent but Discord had left some flaws... They could be countered if a new set of elements were made to match them. The Elements of Entropy consisted of Disorder, Distortion, and Disembodiment. So the Elements I created were their counters... The States of Balance consisting of Order, Spirit, and Form." Celestia explained, only catching a few glimpses of her sister's face while telling the story.

"So after the Elements were created, I released my half into the world to find hosts. And when the elements found them, I would have them come to me. So that is when I started training the original bearers of The States. After their training was complete, I sent them off to find and hunt down the Elements of Entropy. And the only way to reverse an Element back into its crystal form was to either weaken the element to a certain point and drain the element out using a special method, or kill the pony controlling the element...." She said, not once losing Luna's attention.

Celestia then used the last of the time it took to get to the room to explain how the fight between the Elements wasn't so controlled and how many ponies ended up losing their lives by being too close to one of these fights, and how the longer an Element of Entropy stays released the more violent they become. This meaning that they won't necessarily try to kill when they first meet a State, but eventually blood will be shed.

They had reached the room containing the Elements. Celestia stopped and used her magic to open the door and disengage a set of locks protecting the doors from outside intruders. As they stepped inside the room, Luna saw three different gems suspended in midair above a golden pedestal forming the shape of a triangle. A pedestal on the opposite side where the other Elements were supposed to be, were void of anything.

"There are the three crystals corresponding and holding each of the States... The emerald signifying the Element of Order, the ruby signifying the Element of Form, and finally the sapphire signifying the Element of Spirit." Celestia pointed out to the awe-struck Alicorn.

"When the Elements were first given to ponies each State picked a type of pony that represented the Element itself. The State of Order would always choose a Pegasus, the State of Form would pick an earth pony, and the State of Spirit would naturally pick a unicorn. Each of the Elements would also have a corresponding Spirit Weapon, in which once they are discovered they will be trained to use here." Celestia finished saying as the levitated each crystal out of the air and onto the floor below. She then proceeded to crush each crystal to dust with her magic.

The crystal dust exploded with power of the three colors, red, green, and blue. Then as soon as they all came together they vanished with a loud Pop!

"Now that the Elements have been released, we must wait for them to find bearers. I will be alerted when one of them is chosen, and I will bring him or her here to train." She finished saying as she sat on the floor beneath her. After smashing the crystals, they had to draw energy from something to be able to manifest itself into a physical form. Obviously Celestia was the closest thing to the crystals, and had been drained of a huge portion of her energy.

For anypony that gets chosen... I'm so sorry... She said as tear rolled down her cheek and feel into a deep sleep.

Chapter 3: Order's Awakening

Calm Storm's POV

I had arrived home about 7:00 PM, I work at the Baltimare Weather Division overseeing that ponies get their jobs done, as well as maintain correct and scheduled weather patterns. My job wasn't a hard one, but I did have to work with a few numb-skulls in the process... But alas, I am a very calm pegasus as my name dictates!

I walked into my bathroom, brushed my teeth, and carried on most of the other things I would do before retiring early. Today was a rather unfortunate day at work for me. One of the rookies brought a rouge storm outside the city when it wasn't due yet, and it caused some major territorial wreckage outside. Of course I was the one that took the blame, and I got yelled at by my superior instead... Luckily I calmed down and talked to the rookie about how to be more careful about which storms go where, and I think I got the message through. I remember him looking up at me about to cry and saying "I didn't mean to... Please don't fire me! It's only my first week here!". I told him to try not to make the same mistake again, or my boss would tell me to fire him.

Having taken this amount of stress, a huge workload, and a verbal beating from my boss I was extremely tired. And needed sleep, and I needed it right now. I comfortably flew up onto my bed and tried to get beneath the covers. Once I finally succeeded, I opened my window nearest to me to let cold air flow into my room.

I just want to make a difference in the world.. Change it for the better! I thought, wondering if there was any way for me to ditch this lowly job as a manager (Not to say that I hated the job or anything...) and actually make a change in this world.

As I drifted off into sleep, I felt like there was a presence in my room. But I ignored it and went back to sleeping. As I felt my self falling closer to unconsciousness, I felt a warm burning in my chest or what was my chest in my subconscious dream world.

Once I had fallen asleep however, It had felt as if I was still awake. I was surrounded by a huge black dimension of nothingness, it seemed to stretch out infinitely from my perspective. I tried walking, and the ground or what ever the material was beneath me held up and became a surface. I suddenly felt a powerful explosion of raw energy, so mind shattering that I was nearly knocked of my hooves in the Dream plane. The swirling green light started to consume me by surrounding my body and trying to infiltrate my soul. After what seemed like an eternity later, it had finally began to die down... But then I heard a voice...

Storm... The deep, wise-sounding voice had uttered. I do not have much time to explain now, but you must listen to me in whatever time you have left here... Understood? The calming voice asked. I could do nothing but nod my head yes, this strange deity had left me extremely curious to the purpose of why it was here or if it was even real.

I am the Element of Order... Created by Princess Celestia herself to counter an opposite set of elements that do nothing but cause destruction. I believe that you have what it takes to defeat them, but not alone. There are two other elements searching for their bearers as we speak. He continued.

My time here is running short... Find the Princess! And should you ever need to use me just ask. The talking spirit said before entering inside my chest and leaving me breathless for air. It felt like I was suffocating inside of my dream, the Element of Order had been combining with my very essence of being... And it hurt a lot.

I shot awake gasping for air as if I had just risen from the bottom of a deep pool of water. Sweat dripping of my forehead, I exited my bed and checked my self out in the mirror. I was still the same cyan colored pegasus, however my face looked completely terrible after that dream.

"W-was that even real?" I said aloud looking for the answer inside of my head.

Yes, yes it was... A voice echoed inside my head. Ok, it was clear that this Element of.. Whatever was now a part of me and inside my head.

"Holy crap..." I said completely stunned from the previous actions that had taken place not only in my dreams but in my thoughts just a few seconds ago. It was apparent that I needed to do what this thing told me... I have to find princess Celestia and talk to her about what ever this is. I mean... She did create this Element after all... She must know why it chose me or even what exactly I'm supposed to do with it! I thought, recollecting everything that had previously happened.

It was 9:00 AM in the morning. And I decided I would be taking a leave from work, and buying a train ticket to Canterlot. I would have otherwise flown to Canterlot immediately, knowing that I had the wing power to do it and all, but I figured that I would need to pack some bags... The spirit had made it seem like I would be there for a while...

I took care of everything that I needed to before hand such as bathing, packing a briefcase full of belongings that I might need while I'm away. And with that, I left my house leaving the stuff there to go buy a train ticket. Several minutes passed as I walked to the station a few miles away, I was in no need to hurry as the trains for Canterlot always headed out from noon to the afternoon. So I just admired the scenery of the city as I was walking.

I saw many sights that were familiar to my childhood, parks, shops, and other things that would just bring back memories. Even if those memories weren't worth bringing back... When I was sixteen, our house was robbed in the middle of the night and I woke up to find that both of my parents were gone. I went to the Baltimare police department to file that they were missing and that out house had been robbed, but they were never found or seen ever again... My father, Windy Breeze had left in his will saying to give the property of our house to me along with all the previous money that he had invested into various markets and savings bonds. And that's how I've been living ever since... I finished school with no problems whatsoever, I was a straight A student, and would've been able to pick any job I wanted.. But management of the Weather patrol in Baltimare was one of my dreams growing up. Being able to coordinate the weather was just so fascinating, however the job wasn't as grand as I thought it was... I just kept building up my wealth on top my father's ever since, so I could retire at a young age.

I was less than one mile to my destination when I noticed that there were no ponies in the streets and everything was dead quiet. I looked around and saw no one, except for one mysterious dark grey colored pony looking at me just a few meters away. He had the body of a pony around his late 20's, a dark grey mat of fur and a noticeable black goatee. He carried a black jewel encrusted cane on his back, on top of the nice-looking grey suit that he had on. It was obvious this pony was a very rich pony with lots of power.

"So we finally meet... Element of Order..." He stated with a visible smirk on his face.

How does he know about that? I asked the element. I could feel the Elements power begin to rise through me, for some unknown reason the pony in front of me seemed to look familiar... But not because of me, because of the Element...

This is the current bearer of The Element of Disorder... Your opposite, and your mortal enemy... The Element stated in a cold harsh way. The tone in his voice told me that he meant business, and that I was in over my head this time. I hate to say this, but this fight is not winnable... He has had plenty of experience with his power, and the best I can do is lend you mine. Said the Element, my eyes not leaving the dark, smiling pony ahead of me.

"Oh don't look at me like that... Hehe... I just want to have some fun!" He yelled maniacally as he swung the cane off his back and smacked it on the ground. As if right on cue, cement chunks exploded out of the ground and began forming a mass in the sky as if there was a black hole there.

The pony then pointed the cane up towards the huge mass the size of a small building, and then brought the cane down pointing it at me. The mass of cement and heavy rock began hurtling towards me, and I was just standing there... Like a lifeless target willing to accept his ultimate fate... Death...

But just then I heard the voice of my Element... NO! WE MUST FIGHT! The element roared. Power began surging throughout my right front hoof and extended outwards starting to form a shape of a bow. The element kept pumping in power to make the form of energy it's full size. NOW DRAW IT BACK STORM! He yelled once more, this time I followed with his wish. As I drew the bow's energy-like string back, an arrow made out of energy began to form.

"What's this...?" The bearer of Disorder said with a intrigued look on his face.

Right as the huge ball of debris was about to hit me, I released the arrow of energy.

BOOM!!!

An explosion of epic proportions engulfed the base of the mass and began tearing away at it's very chaotic existence, moments later the rock was forced into the sky in small bits and pieces that wouldn't have been able to harm anybody in the premises. The look on that pony's face really made my day though... His mouth was completely agape at the sudden burst of raw power my Element and I had demonstrated.

"Hmm... Well... I think I'll let you go this time, it was rather fun toying around with you... Until we meet again, Element of Order" He said as he disappeared into air, returning from wherever he came. The scene then roared back to life a ponies began filling my vision again.

WHAT?!!? I thought as I looked around again. It was like nothing had ever happened! The scene was completely reversed back to the original scene before the fight and ponies were walking around as if nothing happened.

He must have drawn us into a separate dimension of space a while back as we were walking... Said my Element. He was right though... I remember seeing many ponies walk around us at the beginning of the trip, but as we approached closer there became less and less...

My element and I conversed about what had just happened as I went to the station and bought the tickets to Canterlot for 1 hour later. That hour was one of the longest hours of my life... Waiting for that train to see what fate had brought to my doorstep that evening last night.

Disorder... I will find you... and I will beat you... I thought as my train finally arrived at the station. I boarded the train and began my next leg of the journey to find and beat Disorder, my new rival, and my new enemy...
