They soon came to a garage. "Here we go Jason’s place." Kouki stated as he waved his arm dramatically at the rather plain looking building.
Jason entered the code and they soon saw parts thrown about, computers screens and even a tv showing footage from the pro leagues. Also there was this motorcycle. Rainbow Dash looked at it.
"What is that?" Sonic got between her. "Hey careful my duel runner still being repaired." Sonic said.
"Actually I finished it early this morning." Jason said. He tossed Sonic his helmet. "I had some spare time on my hands so I upgraded your helmet." Sonic placed it on his head as a direct interface to the duel runner’s systems started up.
"What in tarnation is a duel runner?" Applejack asked with a confused look.
"How do you not know what a duel runner is?" Sonic asked.
"Ah just don't, so can ya explain it?" Applejack replied.
"To put it simply, a duel runner is a modified motorcycle that projects an environment for a special kind of duel to take place. The rules for the duel change slightly and is growing in popularity due to the perceived challenge of it all." Jason explained in a scholarly way.
"Ohhh, I get it," Pinkie Pie said. "It's card games on motorcycles." She stated matter of factly.
"Card games on motorcycles?" Fluttershy asked.
"Card games on motorcycles!" Pinkie cried out in a strange voice.
"Can we just forget about duel runners and just get to why we're here?" Kyoko grumbled in an annoyed tone.
Twilight decided to be the one to explain. "Ok this is going to take some time to explain." Jason Sonic, Kyoko and Kouki blinked at what they just heard. Another world filled with ponies, magic and that Kouki may be Discord the god of chaos.
"Wait so there’s a world of ponies and Kouki is the reincarnation of a god...." Sonic started.
"That sounds awesome." Kouki said only to get himself smashed over the head by Kyoko.
"Are you seriously finding that awesome?!" Kyoko asked.
"Where do you keep that thing? And why would you even do that?" Kouki asked.
"Well you did just call your past-self awesome." Jason finished.
"I can't help it...." Kouki then asked himself. "Maybe I should dress up like him in my next action duel." Cue Kyoko looking over him with the anime fire in her eyes.
"You really want to test me?" She asked
Kouki sweat dropped "no please."
"But how can Kouki be the reincarnation of this god?" Sonic asked. "We've known him for years and you said that this Discord guy just disappeared." He finished.
"We're not quite sure about that," Celestia explained. "All we know is that we detect Discord's aura from Kouki." She finished.
Jason was scratching his chin in thought as he considered the possibilities. "Perhaps our universes connect at different intersections of our respective timelines. While Discord may have disappeared rather recently for all of you, his essence appeared in our universe years ago." Jason stated. Rainbow Dash tilted her head at that explanation.
"Can someone translate that sentence from egghead?" She asked.
"Look, how it happened isn't important right now," Kouki said, turning serious. "If I'm this god, what are you going to do with me?" Kouki asked, turning to Twilight. Twilight flinched, not sure how to respond to the pleading look Kouki was giving her. Luckily, Celestia stepped in for her.
"We're not sure right now, you are nothing like the Discord that we've come to know. Right now we are just waiting and seeing if you will undergo any changes." She concluded.
Kyoko’s eye twitched. "So what if he does are you going to turn him to stone.... or banish him to the sun?" Kyoko said with her weapon at the ready.
"Hey you can't talk to Celestia like that!" Pinkie pie said. "Oh yeah." Jason got between them.
"Look instead of you two fighting how about settling this in a duel." Jason said. Kyoko looked at him. "Fine." She got her duel disk and her deck.
"Wait, Twilight how do I do what you did?" Pinkie Pie asked.
"Well, I just sort of tried to use my magic and a deck and duel disk appeared."
"Uhh Twilight, I'm sure you know this already know this, but Pinkie Pie was an earth pony, no magic." Rainbow Dash said with an incredulous look.
"That's not completely accurate, while unicorns are the only ponies that can use external magic, every pony has their own internal magic," Twilight explained. "That's how you were able to affect weather when you were a pegasus."
"Okay, so how do I use magic?" Pinkie Pie asked.
"Just reach inside yourself until you find an energy of sorts and grab it. Everything else will take care of itself." Pinkie nodded and did as Twilight instructed. After a minute or so Pinkie's hands were surrounded by a pink glow and a deck and a pink duel disk appeared in them.
Kyoko pulled out her duel disk it was blue with stars and black card zones. Outside Kyoko and Pinkie Pie were ready. "Let’s duel." K4000 P4000 Pinkie Pie was first. "I summon Dancing Blading in attack mode." A dancing woman with bladed shoes appeared and full shut." ATK 1500 DEF 1000 I place one card face down and end my turn." Kyoko’s turn began.
“ I play the field spell Nightmare Castle!" A castle soon formed, it was dark and the feel with a moon light appearing behind her. "I play Nightmare Solider in attack mode." (ATK 1700 DEF 1200) "Next I play the spell Moon of Nightmare!" The moon started to glow. "This lets me send from my hand to my deck the monsters needed for a Fusion summon and in two turns the monster will be summoned. Well, as long as that monster has nightmare in its name anyway." She did as the moon glowed, readying the summon. "Now nightmare Solider attack her monster.”
"I activate my trap mirror force so your monster is destroyed." However her monster wasn't.
"Nightmare Castle prevents monsters with Nightmare in their name from being destroyed by trap and spell cards so sorry." The monster carved into Pinkie Pie’s. (P4000-3800) "I set one card face down and end my turn."
Pinkie drew her card and looked her hand over. 'This game is weird, but I guess it's kind of fun.' She thought as she tried to formulate a strategy. 'And I definitely like the idea of people playing a game to settle their differences.' She continued with an internal chuckle. 'Come on Pinkie, it's time to focus... wow, even I feel weird thinking that. Anyway, I should get back to the game.'
"I play one monster face down in defense mode and two cards face down and end my turn." She concluded. Kyoko let out a little laugh at that. "You're a pretty slow learner, aren't you?" She asked as she drew a card. "I just told you that spell and trap cards don't work on my nightmare monsters, and my deck is full of those." Pinkie shrugged at that.
"What can I say, Twilight is the learner I'm more of a party girl!" She cheered with a big grin.
Kyoko’s turn began.
"Due to Nightmare Castle’s effect I can draw two cards and I think I will!" She drew two cards and the moon glowed brighter. "Just one more turn." She said. "I summon Nightmare Mage in attack mode." ATK 1500 DEF 800. "When she is summoned I can destroy one face down spell or trap on the field I choose the one on the right. The card was Defense Draw. "Well that’s gone, now Nightmare solider attack the face down. The card flipped to revive a big shield. Party Shield. DEF 1500. "Oh great." The attack ended in a tie. "Your go."
Pinkie Pie drew a card. It was her element of harmony. "I activate Call of the Haunted to bring back my other monster." "I guess I sacrifice both my monsters to summon Mistress of Fun in attack mode." Appearing was a version of her in a clown outfit and covered in instruments. ATK 2400 DEF 1800.
"Really?" Kyoko asked.
"I equip her with Elemental Jewelry Necklace of Laughter." Pinkie Pie read the effect. "Attack her soldier." It did and it was destroyed. (K4000-3700) "And If it succeeds in destroying a monster my element lets me attack again take down her Mage." (K3700-2800). "Go again attack her directly." The monster did sending Kyoko flying back (K2800-400) "You know this is kinda fun." Kyoko who was on the ground felt her anger rise. An aura started to be felt by everyone present. One that was all too familiar to Celestia. It brought back old wounds. "Your turn."
Kyoko drew two cards. "You little." She looked at her with fire in her eyes. "I'll show you!" The moon glowed as a dark image appeared. "It’s time for my monster to arrive." Celestia stepped back.
"She’s Nightmare Moon." She half screamed.
"What?" The other ponies turned human said.
"Come forth let your presence be known, plunge the world in enteral night! Fusion Summon Nightmare Queen!" Appearing was an armored Human version of Nightmare Moon with a cape made of her hair and a blade at the ready. (ATK 2700 DEF 2200) "My monster has a special effect when she destroys a monster you take its original attack points as damage afterwards.
"I activate the trap card Call of the Haunted to bring back Nightmare Solider."
"How can Kyoko be Nightmare Moon?" Twilight asked Celestia.
"I don't know," Celestia admitted. "It may be related to the strange overlapping timeline that Jason was talking about.
"Do you think there are others that are reincarnations of villains that we fought?" Fluttershy asked.
"That is possible, but I sincerely hope not." Celestia replied. Kyoko and Pinkie Pie weren't paying attention to their conversation and Kyoko had a smug smile on her face.
"This is it, Nightmare Queen attack her Mistress of Fun!" Nightmare Queen rushed over to the Mistress and cut her in half. The monster shattered and caused Pinkie to lose 300 life points. Nightmare Queen then got in Pinkie's face and fired an orb of dark energy. Pinkie cried out in pain as she lost 2400 more life points. "Now Nightmare Solider end this attack her directly." The solider swung his sword at her. Pinkie Pie0 (winner Kyoko)
'Both Discord and Nightmare Moon have been reborn in this world who else?' Twilight asked herself.
Pinkie groaned as she tried to pick herself up from the ground. Kyoko walked past the pink girl and said, “Looks like I don’t have to apologize to Celestia.”
She kept walking and stood next to her friends. Kouki frowned at his cousin’s actions and went to go help the distraught party girl. He knelt down in front of her and offered her a hand.
“I’m sorry about Kyoko, she can be a bit… extreme when it comes to protecting her family.”
Pinkie took the offered hand and allowed herself to be helped off of the ground. “You don’t have to apologize for anything. I just wish I could’ve gotten her to apologize.”
Kouki then turned toward Kyoko and gave her a cross look, but she just turned away from him with a “hmmph”.
Kouki sighed and turned back to Pinkie. “Yeah I don’t think that’ll happen. Once she makes her mind up about something she’ll rarely change her mind. Still, you were pretty close to beating her; what did you think of your first Duel Monsters game?”
“It was actually pretty fun, though I didn’t like having to sacrifice my monsters. That just seemed mean to me.”
“Well, if you really want to summon your powerful monsters without sacrificing then there is something you could do,” Kouki told her with a grin.
“What do you mean?”
“It’s simple, you need to get pendulum monsters. That’ll allow you to summon as many monsters as you want once per turn.”
“Ooh, that sounds fun! But I don’t know the first thing about pendulum monsters,” Pinkie pouted.
“Well how about this, I’ll teach you and help you put together a new deck.”
“You’d really do that for me?”
“Of course, I love helping a duelist be the best that they can be,” Kouki answered with a warm grin.
