The Magic Within

The Return of Chaos

To give you all notice in advance, this will be my final chapter on "The Magic Within". I am planning to make a sequel to this sometime in the future where we will get to meet Twilight's grandmother, but I feel this is the best spot to finish up this story. I'm deeply sorry to those who were expecting more chapters.

On another note, to those who are a fan of Dragon Ball Z and have seen their new movie DBZ: Battle of the Gods, there will be a scene in this chapter that is very similar to it, so I'm letting you know so you don't accuse me of plagiarism. For those of you who haven't seen DBZ: BoG and want to, please do not read past this point if your not a fan of spoilers.

It had been two weeks since Blueblood's punishment and spending his time on the Apple Farm. He learned first two days that to not get on Big Macintosh's or Applejack's bad side, having received a sore flank for a day or two and went to see the mayor about it, but she told him that it was a form of discipline, and even after contacting his relatives about it, they said the same. Within those two weeks, Blueblood had begun to see the errors of his ways and now despised himself for it. It wasn't enough to convince the royal family to let him come back to Canterlot yet, but at least he was progressing. His notes were much like the how Twilight had been learning the subject of friendship and she had been keeping close watch on her cousin. So far, she liked what she was seeing, and hopefully, her cousin would wise up by the time their grandmother arrived.

Today, while Luna and Cadence had been sent to speak with the Griffon Kingdom to keep the peace, and Celestia was having a meeting with the other nobles, she was making her way over to Applejacks place to check on her cousin's progress and to have a get together. She had picked today to meet with her, since her sister Apple Bloom, Rarity's sister Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo, who now called themselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders, or CMC for short, had gone on a field-trip with their class to visit her home. She was just about there when, without warning, it was raining..... chocolate milk?! "Well, that's strange. why would it be raining chocolate milk?" She asked herself.

She then looked up and saw Rainbow Dash trying to deal with a... pink cloud? And Rainbow said it was made of cotton Candy? "Okay, now that is plain weird, what is going on?" She asked herself again.

She then heard Applejack ask, "Rainbow Dash, what's going on with all this rain?... I mean chocolate milk?... I mean chocolate rain?

Rainbow Dash flew down and replied, "There's crazy weather all over Equestria. Cloudsdale is getting soaked by a major cola storm right now. But don't worry, I'm not leaving until I get control of Ponyville."

"Rainbow Dash might need some help. Something tells me this isn't your 'average weird weather. I better head to the library, I'm sure there's a spell there that can help fix this," Twilight said to herself again.

Twilight soon galloped to the library hoping something weird wasn't happening there, like what was happening to the corn fields. Soon she made her way inside and called, "Spike quick I need your help. I need to find a spell that will help straighten out the weird stuff going on outside."

"Got it," Spike answered.

Soon Spike and Twilight were making hast to find a spell book that could undo all the chaotic things going on outside. "Aha, here it is. Undoing Spells, for all your needs to undo mistakes. Now let's see, ah, here it is, Failsafe spell, guaranteed to put everything back the way it was before all the confusion of any situation. Now I carry the 2, devide it by the three and, Aha, got it, I know what to do," Twilight said as she galloped out with the book just in case she forgot a step, with Spike following suit.

Soon they made it back to the Apple Farm and saw that even more chaos had taken place, with enlarged apples and bunnies that looked like they had deer legs, that were stampeding everywhere. "Don't worry everypony, I have learned a new spell that will fix everything," Twilight assured them.

She soon cast her spell and everyone covered their eyes as a bright light flashed. When they opened them, nothing had changed. "My fail safe spell... failed! What do we do?" Twilight pondered.

"Uh, give up," Spike suggested.

"Now Spike I'm sure Twilight will come up with something," Rarity said.

"Hmm, time for plan B. Rainbow can you corral all those clouds in one corner of the sky?" Twilight said.

Rainbow gave her a salute to say she was on it. "Applejack, I need you to bring those high strung storm clouds down to earth," Twilight told her friend.

Applejack used her lassoing skills and soon had the clouds rounded up. "Hey! What happened?" Pinkie Pie asked randomly.

Twilight then whispers what Fluttershy needed to do and she nodded before she said "Oh dear, I hope none of the animals see these delicious chocolate filled cotton candy clouds. I'd hate to have to share them."

"You and me both sister. Hey!" Pinkie bellowed as the animals started to take a bite at the cotton candy clouds.

"And when your all done with that, feel free to have some popcorn for dessert," Applejack added.

"See Spike, you should never give up. There's nothing we can't do if we all work together," Twilight said before Spike belched up a letter.

Twilight opened the letter and gasped, "Come on girls. My mother wants to see us all in Canterlot immediately."

They soon got on board the train and made their way to Canterlot with Blueblood in tow, wanting to prove to Celestia he had changed. Once they made it to the city grounds they galloped off towards the castle. The guards opened the doors for them and they were greeted by Celestia and Glacies pacing back and forth. "Mother, Glacies, we came as fast as we could," Twilight said to get her mother's attention.

"Thank you Twilight thank you Twilight. Thank you all for coming," Celestia replied.

"Is this about the weather? And the animals weird behavior? What's happening out there? Why isn't my magic working? Is there," Twilight was cut short of her last question as her mother raised a hoof.

"Follow me," Celestia told them.

They followed her to on of the towers of the castle. "I am displeased to announce that an old foe has returned. You all know him as Discord," Celestia said.

"Oh no, but I thought he was still locked in stone," Twilight said.

"I also thought that the spell that was cast would keep him locked up as well, but it appears that since my sister Luna and I are no longer connected to the Elements of Harmony, the spell has been broken," Celestia informed them.

"No longer connected?" Twilight inquired.

"This is Canterlot Tower where the Elements of Harmony are kept, since the six of you recovered them. I need you to wield the Elements once again and stop Discord," Celestia informed them.

"But why us?" Twilight asked.

"You six showed the full potential of each element and use your friendship to work together and beat a mighty foe. Although Luna and I once wielded the Elements of Harmony, it is you who now control their power, and it is you who must stop Discord," Celestia assured them.

"Mother, you can count on," Twilight was cut off as Pinkie randomly stated, "Hold on on sec. Eternal Chaos comes with chocolate rain you guys, chocolate rain!"

"Don't listen to that mother, she's just being random again. We'd be honored to use the Elements again," Twilight assured her mother.

Celestia soon opened the chamber, then removed the box, only to find that it was empty. Twilight gasped,"The Elements, they're gone."

"That chamber is protected by a powerful spell that only my sister and I can break. This doesn't make sense... unless..." Celestia was cut off as she soon heard an all too familiar voice.

"Make sense, oh, what fun is there in making sense?" said the voice.

"Discord. Show yourself!" Glacies demanded.

"Ah Glacies, it's been a long time, over 1000 years. Did you and your mother miss me? I missed you. It's rather lonely being encased in stone, but you wouldn't know that would you, since I don't turn ponies into stone," Discord said as he appeared in a window picture and made it come to life.

"You had me locked away in an ice fortress and put to sleep for a thousand and ten years. That's just as bad, if not worse. I had frost bite on my flank all that time, and for three more days after that, before returning home," Glacies spat.

"Ah, but I thought you would be right at home young stallion. I mean, winter is your specialty," Discord said.

"Well, you never let him have the chance to see his younger siblings and cousin when they were little," Blueblood added in.

"Oh, and this coming from a prince who cares about no pony but himself?" Discord retorted.

"I've changed, I learned my lesson," Blueblood fired back.

Celestia was both shocked and impressed at her nephew's boldness against Discord. "I see, well, I'll have to think of something to congratulate your efforts later young colt," Discord said.

"Don't try anything funny," Twilight said, now trying to defend her cousin.

"Ah ha ha ha, my mother gave me that same exact look. I'm merely here to offer a challenge," Discord said.

"I will not be phased twice by your tricks Discord," Glacies said.

"Oh this is not for you Glacies, this is for Twilight. She is a mystery within herself if I do say so myself, but first, I have a little game I want to play," Discord said.

"Stop stalling Discord, what have you done with the Elements?" Celestia demanded.

"Oh, all right, you know you can be so dull Celestia. I'll tell you where the elements are, but I will do it my way so I can issue my challenge afterwards. Now to retrieve your missing elements, just make sense of this change of events. Twists and turns are my master plan, then find the Elements back where you began," Discord said before disappearing out of the windows again.

"What do you think he meant? Twists and turns, and back where we started and all that?" Applejack asked.

Twilight soon figured it had to be in the palace labyrinth. They soon made their way to it and there had bumped into Discord. He had his way with them, causing each of them to become the opposite of their true selves. All except Twilight. She was something else. Plus, even though he didn't like to play fair, he needed her to be at her best. Soon as she and her friends made it back to Ponyville Twilight was displeased.

"Oh, you should see yourself Twilight. Being mad doesn't look good on you," Discord said.

"You never played fair Discord. You turned my friends against each other, and that wasn't in the rules," Twilight said.

"Oh, but I never said that I couldn't be fair did I?" Discord chuckled.

"That's it I've had it!" Twilight yelled, and soon had her horn lit up, eyes glowing and wings spread ready for combat.

"Oooh, that is new," Discord said.

"I was only going to rely on the elements and turn you to stone again, but you have left me no choice," Twilight said.

"Well, since you seek to use your power, I challenge you to a duel of magical skill," Discord said.

"Don't tempt me," Twilight said.

"I'll take that as a yes. Follow me," Discord said.

Soon he flew off and Twilight pursued him to a place that was familiar to him, bu foreign to her. "Let us begin," Discord said.

Soon a fierce battle of magic was soon underway. Celestia soon felt the surge of her daughter's magic and followed it with Glacies following. Luna had just been returning from the Griffon's kingdom with Cadence and also felt the surge picking up the pace to her youngest niece's position.

I won't go into detail of how the battle goes about, so instead I will let you listen to this music to let you imagine how they battle most of it out.

Discord soon conjured up a big orb of magic. "Alright Twilight, now try this one on for size," he said, as if testing her.

Twilight soon was trying her best, almost feeling she had been spent, to block the orb from doing immense damage to the ground below. Just as she thought she had nothing left in her, she could hear the voices of her friends and time seemed to slow. In he head she could hear Rainbow Dash say, "I'd never leave Ponyville hangin," As well as, "You're a laugh Twilight Sparkle, I can't wait to hang out some more." She could remember when Applejack said, "I'd say you're already part of the family." She could hear Pinkie Pie saying, "And Now you have lots and lots of friends." Rarity, saying, "You and I are gonna be the best of friends." And she could not forget how Fluttershy reacted when they first met, or how fast she warmed up to Spike, and she remembered all the times she helped Spike with little problems, like where to eat gems so high class ponies wouldn't become a nervous wreck.

As if out of nowhere, she felt a surge of power and absorbed the orb instead of deflecting it. She then breathed heavily since Discord had stopped sending magic attacks. "How'd you do that, what was that power?" Discord asked.

"I... I'm not sure exactly," Twilight responded, now feeling she had given her last and saw her family gathering.

"You're not sure. Like I have said Twilight, your a mystery within yourself. You are truly something else," Discord said.

He then held up his talon and had an aura around the end. Twilight was preparing for the worst, not even realizing she was within an aura herself. Soon Discord put his talon down and Twilight was confused, "Why did you stop? I thought you were going to finish me off."

"I just want to hear that you are done," Discord informed her.

"Well I am. I have done everything I can on my own, but I don't think I can go any further, I mean, you a powerful being in your own right," Twilight responded.

"Well I'm happy to see that you're realizing the full power of the Lord of Chaos, but I know strength when I see it, and yours is formidable. I've seen powerful beings come and go, but alicorns are of another level and out of all my challanges, you are my second strongest opponent," Discord admitted.

"Well, who was the first?" Twilight asked.

"Well, aside from the Elements of Harmony catching me by surprise, and with honestly no power to match them, your brother was the first. He nearly had me spent before I had sent him into his slumber," Discord said.

"That I believe," Twilight giggled.

"I'll tell you one more thing, and I suspect you'll be quite surprised to hear it," Discord said.

"What are you not gonna spread more chaos?" Twilight asked.

"Well no, not that, but I'll talk about that in a minute. You see your mother and aunt over there with your siblings?" Discord asked.

"Um, yeah, what about them?" Twilight wondered as her curiosity peaked.

"While it is true that we don't see eye to eye, and have had our squabbles in the past, they are also my sisters," Discord informed her.

"What! My mother never mentioned you being related to her," Twilight said.

"Well, I am not surprised," Discord said.

"This has to be another of your tricks," Twilight said.

"No, actually it's not Twilight," Celestia said as she flew next to her daughter.

"Wait, he's telling the truth?" Twilight asked.

"Yes, but let us discuss this down below, all of us, or you'll be too tired to stand Twilight," Celestia said, as she saw the rest of the Alicorn family gather.

Soon all of them were on the ground and the seemed to bee in a place very similar to what looked like the old castle of the Pony sisters. "So, how is it that Discord here is our uncle?" Glacies asked.

"Allow me to explain. Like all of you I was once an alicorn, and like you Galcies I was the oldest. This used to be our Castle home when I was my natural form. When we had gotten into our teenage years, I had gotten a little careless with myself, think I could do anything and would take after our father, who sadly cannot take physical from anymore. He resides in the stars now. I know I sound pathetic being the Lord of Chaos and everything, but I do feel sorrow that our father cannot be here. To move on, our mother had locked away some spell books that we were forbidden from ever looking at, but, me being who I was, I took a peak. It was then I learned new spells I had never dreamed of, but I soon realized it came at a price. And thus, I became this, my draconeques self as you see me, and the spells had taken over my life. But now, after all that time in stone, I learned how to control the magic, so it would not decide how I do things. Now this chaos that I spread, I will get rid of it, and your friends, don't worry," he said as he snaped his talon.

"They are back to their former selves and that magic I seemed to be preparing was to heal you up so you don't collapse. Now, I can promise that I will not be using my powers for evil anymore. Trust me, that stone prison gave me "a lot" of time to think. Now, I cannot promise that a little chaos won't be spread here and there, if I refuse to use it, it will consume me once more, and I don't want that. It will be just a few minor pranks here and there, and I can think of some nobles who could use a good prank," Discords said.

"Well, not too extreme," Luna said.

"Of course not. I wouldn't want to face our mother's wrath when she gets back after all. Now, I'm only gonna be doing these until we can find a way to get me back to who I used to be before the chaos had made me what I am. I do hope we find something, so I don't looks so chaotic around my own kin," Discord joked, and everypony laughed.

"I'm sure we'll find something to fix you. It's just good to know you finally came back to your senses," Celestia said.

"Indeed, and also, this chaos was just to end it's reign on a high note," Discord said before snapping his fingers, and everything went back to normal.

"So whatever did you do with the elements?" Twilight asked.

"Oh, I left them in your reference guide," Discord said.

"Doh, why didn't I think of that, back to where you began, that was how my friends and I started our first journey together," Discord.

"That's right, she can be taught," Discord said as she decorated her with a graduation hat and a roll of parchment.

The family laughed at her expression and soon she joined in. When they got to Ponyville, she explained to her friends about what had happened. At first they were a little suspicious, but eventually, they accepted that he was reformed. Soon they headed for Canterlot to explain and were wanting to see what Blueblood would think of his new uncle.
