Morning ponyville, twilight’s basement, matrix (POV)
I didn’t sleep much that night even with that breath of fresh air, so I tried to come up with ways to help me go to sleep but no prevail, music didn’t help, I tried counting how much money the princess had given me, a whopping 10,000 bits even I was surprised at her generosity that’ll keep me going for a while I even should be able to buy a house for that money but decided it was a bit too early for that, I checked the time in my iPod and saw that it 09:00 on a Friday morning and I could hear movement around upstairs.
I needed a wash and some food for that matter so I grabbed my spare clothing from my rucksack and proceeded up stairs, as I opened the door an aroma caught my scent from the kitchen and I see twilight was making breakfast, eggs, toast, but not bacon, oh well I might as well get used to this meat free diet then twi caught me standing in the doorway “oh hey your awake did you sleep well I’m not the best cook but I hope it’s ok” “ok firstly I didn’t sleep as well as I wanted to but don’t worry about me and secondly it smell's great and can I ask where’s the bathroom cause I want to take a shower" i said “thanks and the bathrooms over there” she said pointing a hoof to the door behind me on the over side of the library which I walked over to but before I went into the room there was a knock at the door.
I walked over to door and opened to be greeted by a certain crossed eyed Pegasus
(OHMYGODITSDERPYHOOVES!!) “hi there” she said with a happy smile “I have a parcel for twilight sparkle and…hey aren’t you that human that the princess introduced to us yesterday” “I sure am name’s matrix" "hi I’m ditzy doo but you call me derpy” she held out a hoof and I shook it in return (u jelly) “well it’s been a pleasure ditzy, why don’t you give me that parcel so I can give it to twilight” “ok” she said then went rummaging through her saddle bags for the parcel.
“here you go” she said after finally pulling out of her bag “well I got to go there are more deliveries that need doing see you later matrix” and with that she flew off slightly lopsided “seeya” I shouted after her then went back inside and shut the door behind me. “Hey twilight there’s a parcel here for ya” “ok just put it on the table breakfast is almost ready” she shouted back from in the kitchen. Alright well I’m just gonna go get a quick shower then” and walked in to the bathroom
After 5 minutes of sitting in a cramped shower I got out and dried myself off and put on the clean pair of underwear and trousers and put the towel on around my neck letting the water drip out of my hair onto it and walked out of the bathroom ducking slightly under the door. Twilight was floating in the plate of food from the kitchen and placed them on the table. I was drying of my hair and was almost about to put my clean shirt when there was another knock at the door “I’ll get it I said to twilight and walked over to the front door and opened it.
To my surprise there was a cyan Pegasus mare with rainbow mane and tail standing there with a tired look on her face “er rainbow dash what are you doing here this early I thought you would be in bed sleeping still” she looked at me with sleepy eyes and spoke “I couldn’t sleep well last night then I remembered I was going to help you get that job with DJ pon3” “oh yeah I completely forgot about that, hmm you look hungry do you want some breakfast” “yeah that would be great” I smiled and turned back to twilight
“Hey twilight is it ok if rainbow can have breakfast with us” “of course” was her reply so I turned back to RD who again was staring blankly at my bare upper torso. putting on an evil grin I leaned forward and whispered into her ear “you should take a picture it’ll last longer” (I had always to use that line) her face went red and her wings instantly flared out as I moved away back into the library putting on my shirt while rainbow just stood there stunned.
“Hey rainbow dash are you ok there” asked twilight who was hovering another plate towards the table but looked over to her friend and tried to stop herself from giggling “y-y-y-yeah I’m fine” she said as she tried to put her wings back down and make her way towards the table. I was just quietly chuckling to myself as we all sat down and began to eat breakfast.
After breakfast I grabbed my rucksack with my iPod and laptop and set off towards the store where pon3 worked with dash hovering at my side. I got I few friendly waves In my direction which I returned then dash broke the silence
“you know That wasn’t cool what you did back at twi’s I’ll get you back for that” “aw I know you love me really” I said in a playful tone, dash blushed a little I was unaware if what was going on through her head just now.
We arrived at the store where pon3 lived and went inside. The bell rang as I opened the door and the albino mare behind the counter looked up from what she was doing to see the customers she was wearing her trade mark purple shades “hey welcome to pon3 records you must be that human everpony’s talking about “I sure am my name is matrix and you must be the famous DJ pon3, I’ve heard that you're offering a job as a DJ here am I right” “yes I am but you can call me vinyl scratch and yes I’m offering a job, you any good” “well I know the basic’s on how to work a turntable I can mix a little bit but I do have some really great music that you might like” I took of my rucksack and pulled out my laptop and put it on the counter, turned it on, signed in and opened up my music,
I found the song watercolor by pendulum, turned the volume up to 50 and pressed play,
the beginning seemed to confuse here at first but when it got to the chorus she was head banging hard to the music as was rainbow, when the song ended I asked vinyl “so...what do you think” “man that was AWESOME do have any more music like that” “I sure do In fact with my laptop I can play almost every song my kind has ever made” her mouth almost hit the floor when I said that. “dude that is cool I’ll consider hiring you but first I need to test your skills, come to the club I work at on Sunday at eight all we see if your good enough” “sounds like a plan” I said as I shook her hoof the closed my laptop and put it in my rucksack as I turned to leave I noticed a glass case near the back of the store
I Walked up to it and inside it was an acoustic guitar, it was covered in all sorts of cool designs and patterns I had never seen before there was a little label saying for sale on it, I turned to vinyl and asked her “hey vinyl how much is this guitar” oh that 500 bits but for you I’ll put it at 250 bits that’s if your any good” “sounds reasonable” I replied
She levitated the guitar out and into my hands then I sat on a chair with the guitar in my lap and played some basic chords, it was perfectly tuned,
I thought of a song that I new how to play fairly well and began to play

(I looked up towards rainbow dash who was just standing there with her eyes closed swaying her head to the sound of the guitar. I then moved my gaze towards vinyl who was doing the same then motioned me with her hoof to keep on playing which I did)

(thoughts of rainbow flying through the clouds alongside me kept appearing in my head all through the song)
“can't understand why you got me so far gone

i finished playing the song and looked towards the two mares who were just standing there amazed at my little performance
“That was awesome” vinyl said out load “hey thanks vinyl so was I any good then” “heck ye you were good in fact you were amazing, we should totally do some recording some time” I’ll keep that in mind” I stood up and pulled out my bag of money and pulled 250 bits and gave them to vinyl
Then she went back behind the counter and pulled out some more stuff. She floated over a guitar pick (don't ask me how they would use them) and a soft case for free (score) as a free gift.
“Thanks again vinyl” I said putting the guitar into its case with the pick as well then slung it onto my back the proceeded out the door followed by rainbow dash.
“Remember to bring your music on Sunday yeah” she shouted out the door “will do” I said turning and giving a mock solute then me and dash walked back through the center of town.
“So where are we going next then” asked RD “that would be rarity’s place I said I would stop by so she could make me some clothes” I was instantly regretting my decision as I knew for the next couple of hours it was going to be a living hell but pushed that thought aside.
“erm you’re probably gonna have to show me the way again cause I still don’t know where I’m going I said awkwardly “its ok just follow me” replied rainbow “alrighty then let’s get a move on, onwards to the carousel boutique!” shouting out loud earning a few stares from the locals while rainbow was just laughing uncontrollably.
For the whole trip rainbow was flying just in front of me surprisingly not saying a word. Ok I knew there was something wrong, something was bothering her, I said to myself I’ll ask her later but I was knocked back into reality by a cyan Pegasus prodding my shoulder saying my name
“matrix hey matrix can I ask you something” “erm yeah what is it dash?” I replied curiously “well last night couldn’t sleep well so I went outside for a little flying session and when I stopped to have a rest I saw you walking round town, looked like you were really upset about something, what’s wrong?” “sigh well dash I might as well spit it out, last night I couldn’t sleep either, I had….I had a nightmare, it was about that day, I saw my teammates die again, I haven’t had a nightmare ever since…ever since the mission, I woke up thinking that I had died as well but I knew I hadn’t since I’m in the most beautiful place I ever could imagine with people….pony’s that I could call friends, real friends that actually care for me so I decided to take a walk to help calm my nerves and take it all in”
I didn’t expect what happened next rainbow had flew over and wrapped her fore legs around me and was hugging me fighting tears I didn’t know what to make off this so I hugged her back “hey, hey what’s wrong dashie” I said in a calming voice her ears picked up when I called her that and she lifted her head out of my chest to look at me “its j-j-just that you shouldn’t have had to go through all that, it’s just that it reminded me of when I was younger in flight school, all alone without anypony to care for you, she was really close to breaking so I tried to make her feel better.
“hey come on now you’re rainbow dash the fastest, most bravest mare in all of equestria you shouldn’t be crying over something that you couldn’t prevent, you’ve got friends who care about you as well as me, tell you what how about we talk about this later when I’ve finished what I need to do yeah” “ok” she said but she wouldn’t let go of me so I carried her in my arms which she didn’t seem to mind at all and we carried on towards rarity’s
“I don’t know what to think right now” I thought to myself “I have the mare that I had always wanted to meet in my arms she really is loyal to her friends but that doesn’t explain why she’s been acting all weird around me, when I first got here she attacked me in fear that I would hurt her friends but she she got upset when she realized she had done wrong and when I apologized to her then there’s the incident when she was staring at me when I showed everypony my shoulder and this morning when I played that little joke on her the look on her face said it all”
then the thought hit me “oh my god she…she likes me…no she can’t she hardly even knows me… but all the facts point to it and….oh god… she really does like me if only I saw it earlier but.. I can’t tell her that I know, not yet anyway ,I knew back on earth that I had a little bit of a crush on her but that was all before It became real”, I then felt something that I hadn’t really felt before, I felt that I really cared for this pony, she was like me in ways and we had sort of similar pasts, it felt more than a crush It felt like….it felt like love, love that I never felt before and that I really cared for her and wanted to be there for her, I guessed that she must be thinking the same thing but didn’t know that I cared for her, well I had a surprise for her later.
And with those thoughts clouding my mind I carried on walking with the cyan bundle in my arms smiling all the way towards my destination
Well I was certainly struggling to write this chapter but I think I did alright but that’s up to you readers part 2 will be coming soon…….…I hope
