Sharing is Caring

Chapter One

Night had fallen over Canterlot. The moon was just rising over the horizon. On a balcony overlooking the city, a white alicorn allowed the glow surrounding her horn to die down, turning her back to the city, Celestia walked into her study to resume her reading.

An hour or two later, a commotion came from outside her study. Celestia looked up from the treatise she'd been idly studying, “Welcome back Luna, how was your date with Rainbow Dash?”

Luna was floating, quite literally, as she came in to Celestia's private chambers. She had a grin on her face that, in less charitable circles, could be called 'dopey.'

“I didn't know that it could be so much fun!” Luna exclaimed. “This afternoon we flew some sort of obstacle course through a gorge.”

Celestia smiled, “That doesn't sound ghastly.”

“Then, we played this game that seems to be a modern descendant of ten pin. Neither of us are very good, but slamming the ball down the lane is very satisfying, afterwards we finished the night with a romantic meal.” she said with a grin.

“Well sister, you seem a little bowled over. Tell me, should I ask Pinkie Pie about her rates for wedding planning?” Celestia asked with a grin. Luna didn’t even notice that her sister had spoken. “This feeling, I like it. It's so... warm and fuzzy inside. Is this what love feels like?”

Celestia raised her eyebrow at her sister. “No. You've been on one date. At most, this is what infatuation feels like. I think you should wait for at least one more date before you begin thinking of love.”

Luna skipped around the room, “I just want to share this with everypony I know. I must thank Twilight Sparkle for arranging this date.” She froze, a manic grin growing on her face. “What if I thank Twilight Sparkle by sharing this?”

Luna bounded off, almost running over the guards posted outside the doors as she slid around the corner. Shaking her head softly, Celestia turned towards her desk. “The least I can do is warn Twilight,” she thought, quickly penning a missive and sending it shooting along a leyline to Ponyville.

Twilight,
Luna is incoming. She’ll be in Ponyville shortly after this letter. I have an impression of what she intends. Good luck. Please, bear with her, humor her, and don’t lose your temper. Remember, it’s Luna, this is just a phase.
~~ Tia

A great crash echoed through the crystal tree. Glancing up from the letter Twilight saw Luna standing in front of a large window slammed open. “I see Rainbow taught you how to enter my home,” she said drily.

TWILIGHT SPARKLE MAKE DATE WITH ME!” Luna shouted at her.

Twilight cringed, “Luna! Indoor voice? Please?”

“Oh sorry, Twilight Sparkle, We were caught up in our excitement. Let us repeat ourselves. Make date with us, please?” Luna was bouncing excitedly in place.

“Please sit down Luna, have a cup of tea while I try to parse what you've just said.” Twilight indicated a seat across from her. She floated a cup in from the kitchen and set it down.

As Luna took the indicated seat, a bright green teapot with four golden legs waddled up to her and tilted its spout at Luna slightly. “No thank you,” Luna said. The spout drooped and the teapot slowly turned away from Luna, waddling back towards the kitchen, occasionally turning back as if to ask, “Are you sure you wouldn't like some delicious tea?”

Luna broke down, “Alright, I shall take a cup.” Instantly the teapot spun around and sped back to her, twitching gleefully as it poured it's payload into her cup.

“Cute, Twilight,” Luna noted, “Is that Marelin's Semi-Sentience cast on a teapot?”

“It is!” Twilight beamed, “I just did it last week, it's been really helpful and kind of cute. I call him Mr. Tea; I pity the fool who has to pour their own tea.”

There was a loud thud as Luna's forehead smacked the table. Raising her head she shot Twilight a look. “Really? I mean really? That is a terrible joke Twilight, thou shouldst be ashamed.”

Twilight shrugged, “Well, I chai.”

Luna groaned, “Methinks we've both been around our sister much oolong.”

Twilight giggled, “Now that I've had a little time to think about what you said, I'm afraid I'm not positive what you meant, Luna. 'Make date with me' seems to be missing some prepositions. I could take it to mean you wish to date me, but as you JUST went on a date with one of my best friends, I'm hoping that isn't what you meant.”

Luna looked up from her tea, “What did I say? Oh heavens, my Equish fails me horribly when excitement overtakes me. What I meant was, 'I wish to double date with you.' I believe that is the correct phrasing now?”

“Oh really? I guess that means the date with Rainbow Dash went well?” Twilight inquired politely.

“It was the single best thing that happened since my return!” Luna enthused. “We wish to share in the experience with you.”

“Umm, alright? I guess?” Twilight was hesitant.

“Perfect! Now we must find you a date!” Luna was practically quivering in her seat.

“Luna, I...” Twilight hesitated.

“Pish posh, Twilight,” Luna interrupted. “We see that you do not have a lover here, and it vexes us so. In that light, you shall tell us about the stallions around here.”

Twilight blushed, “I'm not interested in them. My interest lies elsewhere.”

“Oh ho ho, do tell,” Luna prompted, “Who is your ideal date?”

“Well, my ideal date is... taller then me. Capable of great wisdom and even greater mischief. She's smarter than I am, I think. It's hard to tell sometimes as she can come up with the dumbest jokes I've ever heard. I've known her for a quite a while now. When we first met, I was already awestruck by her beauty. Over time, I developed a crush on her,” Twilight started to zone out as she talked. “I tried to let it pass, but I found myself falling deeper for her until one day I stood there gaping at her as she raised the sun...” Realizing what she had said, Twilight clapped her hooves over her mouth.

Luna's eyes widened. “You... you would date our sister... This... is... SPLENDID!”

A flash lit the room and when Twilight's vision cleared, Luna was no where to be seen. Twilight sighed and grabbed a pen and a piece of parchment.

Tia, tag, you’re it.
~~ Twi

Celestia looked up from the short note just as Luna rushed in.

“Sister, you shalt never guess what we have learned this night!” Luna panted as she slid to a stop in front of her sister. “Twilight Sparkle would make date with you!”

Celestia raised her eyebrow, “In Equish, please?”

“Drat, I did it again,” Luna muttered, “What I meant is that Twilight Sparkle would like to go on a date with you! Isn't that exciting? Oh the tales the bards could tell of the student and the teacher.”

Fwump. A soft, white projectile hit her in the face.

“Tia, didst thou just throw a pillow at me?” Luna asked incredulously.

Celestia looked at her with innocent eyes, “Who me?”

Luna shook her head fiercely, “ANYWAYS, the point is that thine student has feelings for you. Isn't this great?”

Celestia sighed, “And why is that great Luna?”

Luna grinned evilly, “We remember.”

“Remember what?” Celestia

“Five months ago, you, me, Cadance and barrels upon barrels of sweet delicious Applejack; The drink, not the pony.” Luna was stalking towards Celestia with a gleam in her eye. “It took most of the night and even more of the drink, but we remember that thou didst finally admit it.”

“I admitted nothing,” Celestia cried.

“Oh but you did,” Luna was almost shaking with glee, “And I quote, 'I just want to grab her by the flanks and kiss her into a solar stupor.'”

Fwump. Fwump. Fwump. This time she was pelted with three pillows in quick succession. Luna shook her head, lighting her horn she grabbed several plush missiles of her own, “Oh it is ON!”

~~~~~~~~
“So I distracted her,” Celestia was giggling with her student, freshly arrived from Ponyville on a morning chariot. “Many pillows died last night, I mourn each and every one of them. I shall particularly miss Fluffenstein, he was a superb pillow.”
“Tia?” Twilight asked, a smile on her face.
“Yes Twilight?”
“Why didn't you just tell her we've been dating for the last four months? I know we've been keeping it quiet to avoid gossip and the media, but I would have though you'd tell Luna, of all ponies.” Twilight wore a puzzled frown.
“She never asked me if I were dating you, just if I wanted to. Honestly Twilight, how often does such a perfect setup fall into your lap? I will tell her... eventually. I just want to let her get her excitement out. Right now she's like an excited puppy. I just don't want to dampen that enthusiasm. Maybe when she gets the wedding invitation she'll figure it out.” Celestia waggled her eyebrows at Twilight.
“No,” Twilight snapped with an intense look, “I know you're just joking, but you are NOT going to Shining Armor her. Tomorrow at breakfast, you will tell her that you've asked me out and you will set up a double date with her and Dash.”
Celestia meekly bowed her head, ears pinned back, “Yes, dear.” Then she looked up at her marefriend with a blush in her cheeks. “You are so sexy when you take charge like that.”
Twilight smirked salaciously at her, “I know.”
