Princess Celestia enjoys her position as one of Equestria's rulers. She enjoys raising the sun at dawn, running the kingdom, making decisions that will benefit her subjects, attending and throwing important events and parties such as the Grand Galloping Gala, meeting dignitaries from other lands, and many more things. However, there are a few things that Miss Sunshine doesn't particularly like to do .These include but are not limited to: going to boring meetings concerning the budget, attending parties where all she does is sit there and smile and wave, having no free time to herself, having to sign important documents, being on a tight schedule, having to fix basic magical problems facing towns you get the idea.
Princess Luna on the other hand, doesn't have nearly as much responsibility as her older sister. All the esteemed Princess of the Night does is roaming around the kingdom at night making sure everything is alright, entering the dreams of ponies and helping them with their fears, and of course raising and lowering the moon. This princess really has a lot of free time, and she spends most of it interacting with her subjects around Canterlot. Once in a while she visits the Crystal Empire to see Cadence and Shining Armor. Every evening once she and her sister finish lowering the sun and raising the moon, Celestia heads straight to bed seeming cranky. Luna would go check up on her, but she has her own duties to fafil first. By the time she gets back her sibling is already sleeping. With each day she sees her sister getting more stressed and cranky. So,the Princess of the Night then decides one night to visit Twilight Sparkle in her new castle to ask her what she should do about her older sister.
Luna's chariot lands in front of the crystal tree castle. She leaps off of the object and faces the two bat pony guards who pulled it.
"I will not be long. Wouldst thou pleaseth waiteth hither until I return from mineth talk with Princess Twilight Sparkle?" Luna said in a calm tone.
"Of course." one of the guards said firmly.
"Take all the time you need your highness." the other one said.
Luna trotted up the stairs. Her eyes focused the beauty and mystery of the castle. It's tree like appearance mixed with castle features really stood out to the mare. This would be a place she wouldn't mind living in. Once she got to the tall door she extended her hoof and knocked three times. In a matter of seconds the huge door opened and before Luna was the tiny dragon Spike.
"Princess...Luna!" the small dragon said in shock.
He quickly bowed before the alicorn out of respect. Luna could see that he was very nervous.
"I hast cometh hith'r to speaketh with Princess Twilight." Luna said as she lowered her head.
"Um come again?" the dragon said obviously not understanding Luna's way of speaking.
The alicorn sighed. She then took a deep breath and said slowly," I have come here to speak with Princess Twilight."
The dragon stood up. He then said, "Oh? Why didn't you just say so?!"
Luna did a hoof to the face, but Spike was turned the other way so he didn't see it.
"Twilight's in the library." Spike said.
Luna was about to take off when Spike called out, "Wait! You'd better let me show you where it is. This castle is so huge you could get easily lost in it Princess. Just stick by me, and we will get to Twilight in no time."
The alicorn's wings closed. She then said, "Lead the way."
The dragon climbed up the central stairs with the princess following him close behind. They then turned left and headed up another staircase. After walking up that huge flight then they walked straight down a narrow hallway. Luna was getting irritated by all of the walking, and seeming that they weren't getting anywhere close to the library. Finally, after a 15 minute long trek through the halls and stairwells of the Ponyville castle the tired Luna and energetic Spike finally made it to the library. The princess is out of breath and falls to the ground. Spike turns to see the fallen alicorn and quickly kneels to her side.
"Are you alright your highness?" the concerned purple dragon said.
Luna said slowly, "Are we there yet young one?"
"Yes." he said. "Twilight is inside. Come on your highness let's finally get in there."
The alicorn slowly rose to her hooves, and nodded to the dragon. Using her magic Luna opened the two doors. She amazed to see just how large the library was. It was two stories tall with each type of book being sorted by color and fiction and nonfiction on each floor. Luna then saw Twilight Sparkle up on the second floor putting books away on the top shelf while flapping her wings rapidly to keep her position in the air stable.
"Twilight!" Spike shouted.
Twilight was so surprised by the sudden loud noise that she lost her concentration and her wings folded and she started to fall to the ground.
"Ahhh!" Twi shouted as she fell.
Luna hastily casted a spell with her magic causing the couch that was on the other side of the room to move right under Twilight's drop shadow. The purple mare then lands on the couch. She then bounces up from the springs in the couch a few times, but then lands softly on the soft leather cushions. Spike and Luna then walk over to the princess both being concerned.
"Twilight. Twilight. Are you hurt?" said a concerned Spike.
Twilight nodded. The mare got up from the couch and then noticed the tall blue alicorn standing next to her dragon friend.
Twilight then said "Princess Luna... what a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?"
"I have come to speak with thou about something of utter importance." the lunar mare said in a calm tone.
"Oh. Well why don't you come over here. I'll move this couch back, and we can talk about it over some tea. Spike." said the calm Twi.
"Already on it!" said the dragon as she rushed out the room.
The purple pony levitated the chair back to its original place, and Twilight sat on it while the Princess of the Night sat down on Twilight's personal reading chair.
"So what may I help you with princess?" Twilight asked in a soft tone.
"As you know there are many responsibilities that come with a position as a princess. You yourself understand this now don't you?" Luna said.
"Yes I do. So what does this have to do with....."
"Let me finish. Celestia is the one out of all of the alicorns in Equestria that has the most tasks can't we agree on that Princess Twilight?"
"I guess we can. Princess Celestia did rule for 1000 years when you were....ugh...well..you know. So that would make sense."
Spike came in with a small cart with cookies and tea. He placed it on the table and poured it into Luna's cup. The blue alicorn then used her magic to levitate two sugars and dropped them into the cup. She then sipped her tea.
"Thank you." Luna said calmly.
"You are welcome your highness. Now, if you too need me I'll be in my room catching up on issue 24 of Power Ponies! See ya!" Spike said as he finished placing everything.
He then ran out of the room. Twilight with a wave of her horn closed the door. Luna then continued with her statement.
"As I was saying my older sister has been acting strange as of late."
"How so?" Twilight asked curiously.
"Right after she finished lowering the sun and me raising the moon my sister heads straight to bed. Not even saying goodnight to me like she used too. Her appearance also looks different. She has wrinkles under her eyes, her hair is all over the place, and her coat isn't clean. My sister also sounds different, and when she does talk to me her tone isn't pleasant."
"That sounds terrible. I wonder what has caused her to act this way."
"I think it might be that she has been working herself too hard."
"Huh?"
"My sister has a round the clock schedule and never has anytime for herself. The hardest part about it is that I could do some of her duties for her, but she won't let me."
"Oh. Well so you want to help your Celestia to return to normal?:
"Very much so Twilight. I just don't know how to help fix her."
"Well....whenever I get stressed out I usually sit back and read for a bit, and that usually helps me settle down."
"So you are suggesting that Celestia just reads?! She does enough of that already!"
"Wait! Here me out. What I was trying to get at is that maybe you could have Celestia do something she really enjoys, and maybe that could calm her down."
"I understand. Celestia does go to the spa a lot. Wait! That is it!" Luna said as she rose from the chair.
She then ran over and hugged Twi tightly.
"Thank you so much dear Twilight. I have to go make plans. I will see you later!" Princess Luna said while she was casting her teleportation spell.
In a flash the mare disappeared from Twilight's home.
"You're welcome!" she shouted to the ceiling.
Luna then spent the next few days planning everything for her evening with her sister. She sent a letter to Shining Armor asking him if he could be in charge of the castle while the sisters were out. He of course said yes, and arrived from the Crystal Empire Friday morning. The alicorn made sure to sneak him in because she didn't want her sister's surprise to be spoiled. He put his things down in the guest tower, and then went out to lunch with his aunt in-law. The two went to a popular cafe that was near the castle, and sat at a private table because Luna knew that Celestia often visited the place to get some pastries.
"I thank thee for coming on such short notice." Luna said as she sipped her tea.
Shining took a bite of his sandwich while saying, "No problem...When I heard of what happened...."
He swallowed before continuing on with his statement
The unicorn continued "To Celestia I just had to come and help you out. Plus this will give Cadence some needed alone time. So, you never told me exactly where you are going to take Princess Celestia out tonight."
"It's a secret, but I just know that after words Tia will be back to her old self again! Thou am most excited for this night. I will have to make sure all the stars are out."
The server pony then came to their table, and put their check on the table. Luna levitated the bits from her satchel and gave them to the pony. The server then walked away. Shining and Luna then walked outside the cafe to see Celestia walking with her assistant Raven. Luna quickly grabbed on to her in-law, and casted a teleportation spell that transported them to Shining's guest room. Luna wiped the sweat off of her forehead.
"Phew. Thy sister almost saw us." said a relieved Luna.
"You said it. I must thank you again for lunch." the blue haired unicorn said to the princess.
"It was no trouble. Now, I am sorry to leave you, but I must make final preparations for this evening." Luna said calmly.
She used her magic to teleport to her room in the east wing of the castle. The blue alicorn then decided to take a small nap in her chambers.
"I need to rest before for the events that will enfold tonight." Luna said to herself.
The mare used her magic to pull up the covers of her soft, warm bed, and closed her eyes. She drifted off to sleep.
Hours later Luna awakens from her nap, and takes a look on her clock. She then notices that she is late for the rising of the moon!
"Oh no! Thou is late! Thou is late!" she shouted frantically brushing her mane and tail.
Luna then flew out of her room to the hill where she always met her sister for this task. Once she landed her sister was surprised.
"Luna! You frightened me." Celestia said while facing her sister.
"Sorry Tia." Luna forgave. "I was taking a short nap, and I over slept."
Celestia sighed. "Now, let's just get this over with."
The white alicorn's horn started to glow a bright gold, and thus the sun in the sky started to set. Simultaneously Luna's horn glowed a bright dark blue and the moon was the starting to rise. The celestial bodies passed each other as they were headed to their respective places in the sky. Once the moon was at its peak the two stopped their spells.
Celestia was about to teleport back into the castle when Luna shouted, "Tia wait!"
"Yes Luna?" she asked.
"You are not going to bed yet."
"Why not?" Celestia said in curiosity.
"We arst going out on this wonderful evening."
Celestia started to laugh. She thought that her sister was obviously joking. Luna's stern face however said other wise to her older sibling. The sun princess took a deep breath.
"Who will watch......" Celestia started to say.
"Shining Armour is covering for us." Luna interrupted. "And Princess Twilight is taking over my duties of checking up on the towns all over the land. I got it covered."
She then said, "So where are we going Luna?"
Luna giggled. "You will see Tia don't worry, but first you need a makeover. I mean have thou seenest yourself lately!"
Celestia used her magic to transport her and Luna into her bathroom so that she could take a good look at her face. Once she did get to the alicorn let out a huge scream. It was so loud that just about everyone in the entire city could hear it!
"What? What has happened to my face? I mean just look at it sister! My makeup's running, my..hairs a mess, and are those wrinkles! Ah!" Celestia cried.
Luna put her wing around her big sister. She said calmly, "Doth not worry sister. I will take care of it. Anon, let us go."
The royal sister's took flight with Luna leading. Celestia was wondering just what her younger sister had planned for her. The two landed in front of a closed door in a dark ally. No one was around. Not even a light from any of the buildings.
"Wait." Celestia whispered. "I know this place."
Luna smiled. She then knocked on the door. A small white earth pony answered it. He then bowed before the sisters.
"We have been expecting you." he said. "Please come this way."
He led the two alicorns into the shop. It was pretty nice compared its look from the outside. It had golden chandeliers on the ceiling, a soft velvet carpet, purple walls, and a plethora of stations that all were set up for relaxation. Celestia was immersed in it all, and Luna was happy to see her doing so. A blue unicorn took Celestia by the hoof and walked her over to a salon chair. Luna on the other hand just sat on the couch in the waiting area reading a magazine. The white stallion from earlier got her some tea with sugar. The princess put her two sugars in it using her magic, and then took a sip.
"Delicious. Just the way I like it." she said quietly.
During the hour Celestia was treated to a hoff a cure, a hair washing and styling, and a makeup session. After words she stepped in front of Luna. She was amazed at just how pretty her sister looked. Her hair was as sparkly and flowing as ever. Her face was all dolled up, and her hoofs were shining.
"You look...amazing Tia." said an excited Luna.
"Thank you." she replied. "This was so kind of you sister. I desperately needed this."
"Now, it is time to get to the best part!"
Suddenly the sisters heard beeping from outside.
Luna then said,"Looks like our ride is here. Let us be off."
The two waved bye to the workers, and then proceeded to their chariot. It was a bright gold with black tires. On the front had Celestia and Luna's cutie marks on it. There were two chairs one for each alicorn with each having a comfy silk pillow. Celestia was just shocked by its appearance.
"Is that? Our old chariot?" Celestia said in glee.
Luna nodded."When Twilight Sparkle and company were fixing up our old castle, she found it in the basement. I told the royal guard to retrieve it, and then I sent it to be repaired. Do you like it?"
"Like it? I love it!" Tia said with tears in her eyes.
She hugged her sister tightly. Luna closed her eyes while hugging her sis back. After the hug the two sat down in their chairs. Luna nodded to the pegasi guards signaling them to start flying. She then pulled out a black blindfold from her bag.
"Alright Tia you need to put this on." Luna said firmly.
"Luna why?" she asked.
"Just do it!"
"Well you haven't steered me wrong yet. So sure I'll put it on."
Luna used her magic to put it around her sister's eyes.
"Can you see anything?" she asked Celestia.
Her sister replied, "Nope."
"Good. Now, let us be off!" Luna shouted as she raised her left hoof.
The guards started running, and in a matter of seconds the chariot was off of the ground. Celestia enjoyed the wind flowing through her colorful mane. Luna thought that all the trouble of putting the evening together was worth it to see her elder sister so happy and full of life. The chariot landed in front of the castle gardens. Luna exited first, and used her magic to guide Celestia to her destination.
"Luna, where are you taking me?" she said cheerfully.
Luna replied,"Thou shalt see. We are almost there."
The two sisters continued walking through the dimly lighted garden with Celestia taking in the smells from the smells of the flowers. Once they reached a small table in the center under a gazebo, Luna removed the blindfold. The sun alicorn then opened her eyes to see the beautiful dinner setup that was in front of her. The little table had a white table cloth with a vase of roses which were her favorite flowers.
"Luna...I am..speechless......" Celestia said slowly.
Luna put her wing around her sister and said, "Do you not like it sister?"
"No...I love it so much. I just...am...speechless..that's all..:
"Phew! I thought you didn't like it for a second! Come sister let us feast!"
The two sat down and a servant pony came in and handed them a small menu. On the top under the appetizer was cream of mushroom soup. The entree was spinach lasagna. Celestia was touched by that since that was a dish that Luna made her when they were young. Finally, under desert there was of course strawberry short cake a favorite of the sun princess.
"Luna did you pick this all out?" Celestia asked.
Luna nodded. She then told the server, "Can you grab us some waters please?"
He nodded, and then left them.
"You really went all out just for me Luna. I just can't thank you enough. I really am having a good time."
"Well you can't credit me for everything. Twilight Sparkle gave me advice on how I could help you with your recent stress."
"Oh. Really?" She said peening her interest.
"Yes. I came up with the rest though. HEHE. "
"Luna. I am so glad that you are my sister."
"I..am glad that you are mine too...Tia. Mine too."
So, the two royal sisters had a lovely evening together. Celestia really enjoyed the night she spent with Luna, and Luna was happy to see her sister back to her old self. After words, Celestia made an entry in her journal that read...

Dear Journal,
Today my loving sister Princess Luna gave me the best time I have had in a long time. She showed me just how much your love ones care about you, and also just how much they notice. I really hope that in the future I can do the same for her. No matter how much my everyday job causes me pain, I always know that Luna will be there to help me through it all.
