Chapter 20 - You aint off yet

While the incident had blown over, the three were still feeling the effects at least amongst their superiors and for the first time in three days were on break. In hopes to get away from any "eyes" they managed to get to a balcony looking over the city and enjoying their break.

"Alright, three Fillycheesesteak sandwiches, or a tomato pie?" asked Charger

"Ah, that's a tough one." said Crescent, "Flower, you?"

"What the hell is a tomato pie?"

"It's like pizza." said Crescent

"But cheese less and extra oregano. Delicious!" said Crescent

"Why would one eat that?" asked Flower

"Why one would even think that three Fillycheesesteak's equal one Tomato pie is crazy?" came a voice that made them all jump

They looked over the edge to see Sgt. David resting his hooves on the edge, his wings flapping to keep him aloft. Truth be told, they weren't to happy to see him, and he could see it on their faces. didn't change his expression.

"I know you hate me. I don't care. Point is I ain't here to hang out. Got a real treat for you today. A mission I know you wont screw up because the Officer you're going with is in to make sure of it."

"Let me guess." asked Charger, "Lieutenant Spirit?"

"Ha! Don't make me laugh! My old buddy isn't one for patrols. No, seeing how being pent up in the Palace tends to drive one mad, Captain Shadow has requested for you to accompany me on a grand tour of the Discord blessed wonderful sewers of Canterlot."

"You're kidding?" asked Flower

"Hey, I need your horn there flower power for the light it can give off."

He got up and brushed off his legs and cracked his neck and adjusted his helmet: "besides, you ain't off yet! Not even close! Sewer entrance is near the back, just follow the signs. 10 minutes to get there, be late, and well, the Captains going to find out as she's watching you guys."

He looked up to another balcony and waved. The three looked up to see Captain Shadow looking over them. Upon looking at her, she slowly moved away and out of sight.

"And hey!" said David, "With your guy's luck we may actually find something down there!"

With that, he flew back down to a lower level, leaving the three in a sour mood.

"Great, a whole patrol in the sewers with Sgt. David. What fun we're going to have." said Crescent sarcastically

"Well, All we can do is hope for the best." said Flower

He tried to keep him composure for a awhile, be eventually gave up and held his head low.

"This is going to suck I just know it."

"It's okay Corporal. We'll be with you." said Crescent

"Besides, if he goes too far, we can always, you know, get rid of him?" said Charger hinting at his dark plan

"Really?" asked Flower, "He whooped all those ponies without breaking a sweat when we couldn't?"

"Well, we could jump him when he's not looking!" said Charger

"Great!" said Flower, "And he doesn't come back but we do?"

"I see you're point. Come on! We got to get to the entrance before he does." said Crescent

"Why?" asked Charger

"So he doesn't give us any crap about being late!" called back Crescent

Charger looked to Flower for any advice, but he just shrugged and the two followed. Even as they neared the entrance to the sewer, they could smell it. It wasn't really all that awful, but it was a distinct odor that was different from the clean and near sterile air that was the Royal Palace. As such, they plugged their noses as they weren't really used to it. They got there where two Unicorn Guards stood entrance with a sign that said SEWERS, knowing they had made it.

"How do you guys stand the smell?" asked Charger plugging his nose

"You get used to it." said one of the Guards

"Why is there even a entrance to the Sewers in the Palace?"

"It was regionally a escape route when the Unicorns built it." said the second Guard, "Their is a route that leads out to the country side. You'll find stuff like this in allot of old castles across Equestria. When Canterlot began to grow and became a city instead of just a castle, the route became obsolete and was turned into sewers to save time and work instead of burrowing in the city; it grew from here basically."

"Thanks for the info." said Charger

"It's what we do." said the first Guard

"And what they're doing is going down!" said Sgt. David as he walked up,"Since it's a direct link to the palace, we have to patrol in just in case!"

He looked at the three in confusion, but eventually just smiled and walked on.

"Nice of you three to show up early! I was expecting you to show up late. It's what I would do."

He opened the sewer doors to reveal a old elevator and he stepped on. Charger, Crescent, and Flower stepped on afterward and David flipped a lever, starting a descent down below.

"Down we go." said Charger
