Let it Snow

Rarity was finishing a final set of orders for her fabulous, “Wonderful Winter” fashion line. She had been working hard for several days in a row alone at her boutique. So much so that one purple dragon had seen enough of her absence. Having gone off to offer Rarity some aid even at the persistence that she was fine from Twilight.

When Spike arrived his knocks went unnoticed. He let himself into the boutique, and found Rarity in her inspiration room threading several lines from a disgruntled Opal. There were eight separate strands of thread magically going to separate ponyquins. Rather than disrupt Rarity's concentration Spike slowly picked the spools from the cat allowing one on each claw of his hands. Opal purred as a response glad to be free of her slightly single-minded owner. Rarity just continued to sew the patterns into place not even missing a beat.

“Well that finishes that, thank you for helping mommy, Opal.” Rarity had said this but turned to find Spike instead of her cat and said, “Spike, what are you doing here!?”

“Giving your cat a rest by the looks of it. Is there anything more I can help you with my lady? I'm sorry about the intrusion, but no one was answering the door. I didn't want to interrupt your creativity.” Spike smiled as he looked over at the beautiful mare before him who had her red glasses on and her mane was a bit disheveled. Even so she looked devastatingly beautiful to him.

“Well, alright Spike. I suppose I can forgive you, but I only have a few more things to sew on to to finish up.” Rarity said with her body offering up a weak smile for him.

“Alright well, Why I don't I make us some tea. Then I can hold your strings for you again.” Spike said with a gentle smile back at her trying to offer her a chance for some rest. Also the fire in the hearth of her inspiration room was slowly going down. He slowly headed down the stairs for her kitchen and got out the stool she had and started to fill and then warm the kettle.

“Well, I suppose a short tea break wouldn't be too bad. I can't send these out today anyway.”

Spike finished up the tea, brought two cups back into the inspiration room, set both cups on a clear table together, and lastly he brought two seat cushions over to the table. Spike noticed the weather outside had worsened since he had arrived it was almost like a blizzard out there now. The strong winds even blowing out the what was left of the fire in the hearth. Spike hopped down from his cushion, and moved over to the fire place adding a few logs, pieces of news paper, and a simple jet of his fire-breath at the pile. The fire slowly was brought back to life thanks to Spike's quick thinking, his eyes on the fire he said gently, “I think you should stop for the night Rarity. It's almost Hearth's Warming and you'll want to be ready to spend it with friends and family.”

Rarity who had been sipping her tea just as the hearth flickered out just watched as the young dragon just as quickly and quietly made her place more comfortable like he was meant to be there. “Thank you, Spike. I think I will. It looks like it's snowing pretty hard out there. Maybe you should spend the night.”

Spike could hardly believe his ear frills as she had just asked him to spend the night with her and said, “I would be very glad to stay, as long as I can help you finish up, Rarity.”

“I'd like that, Spike.” Rarity said. She moved over to Spike and put her hooves around him. After slowly turning him to face her, she gave him a gentle kiss on the lips. The fire crackled and the pair snuggled near the warm hearth.
