The Final Showdown

by GhostofSandwich

And a spell for Celestia

"Luna, now’s our chance!" Celestia yelled as she forced a clear path past the final wave of distorted minotaurs and flying rabbits armed with projectile carrots. Quickly, the two dashed forward with the intent on charging headfirst into Discord's castle, where he would no doubt be waiting for them. They didn't fear him anymore; they had the Elements of Harmony, and his bag of tricks had run out.

Discord yawned lazily, bored of all the fighting outside of his castle. He already knew it was only a matter of time before the princesses would come charging in, never having been one to deny the power those two possesed. They were immortals and wielded the Elements of Harmony, after all. This didn’t bother him in the least, however. Sure, a few hours ago he had been scared, but now... Now he had a plan, one that would ensure his victory over the two.

He sat on his throne, one leg cross over the other and his cheek resting on his palm, indicating extreme boredom. As he yawned again, the expected happened and the two sisters charged in. It was time for him to enact his plan. First, he needed to separate Luna and Celestia.

"Girls, I was wondering when you were going to show up! Tea?" he asked as he levitated the two of them a cup and poured tea on their heads. "Oh, look, you’ve gone and spilled it. Tsk, tsk. Here, let me clean that up for you!" The two sisters went wide eyes as storm clouds levitated over them and immediately began to pour down over them, soaking them to the bone. "And now you're wet!" Neither princess had time to react as a tornado swept between the two, pulling them in before spinning them violently until they were dry. As soon as they were, it launched them into opposite walls.

Discord laughed and stood up from his throne, sporting a brand new pair of pink sunglasses with reflected glass. Celestia stood up too and rubbed her face, which was red from the collision with the wall. That, and extreme anger.

"Discord!" she yelled.

"Celestia!" Discord yelled back, imitating her tone. "You know, you really should use your indoor voice. It's not very ladylike to yell (indoors)," he pointed out as he floated over to her and put a point talon on her chin and raised her eyes to his.

"The world will be a better place when you're gone, Discord," Celestia hissed, her tone low and serious.

"Oh, I'm so scared. But I'm a draconequus of chance, so I'll give you all a chance to use your fancy Elements of Harmony. Honest! But first..." Discord grinned evilly as he snapped his fingers. Instantly, Luna disappeared and several chains with padlocks appeared on the door. "We should have some quality time together."

"Bring her back, right now!" Celestia demanded.

"In good time, my dear. And don't worry: she's safe. I promise you two will get a chance to use the elements."

"Then let us use them now, so this madness can end," she pleaded.

"Not yet, Princess. Show some patience. You see, Celestia," Discord started as he teleported behind her and sat on her back, "I want to have a chat with you. Real gentlecolt like," he assured as he placed a monocle and a tophat on his head.

"Then speak, and let it be quick."

"You're really persistent in this quick thing. It really hurts my feelings," he cried as he drew a heart with a crack through the center.

"Good," Celestia snapped.

"Obviously you aren't going to be civil, so I'll just start. This... this is my world. Chaos is my kingdom and you should just accept it."

"Accept chaos? Never!" Celestia stared Discord in his eyes as he smiled at her. His eyes were cold and uncaring, yet there was something there, something that stood out. A love for chaos that could never be fixed.

"Need I remind you that I was here before you?" he stressed, poking her in the chest semi-angrily.

"That doesn't give you the right to cause chaos and ruin the lives of so many ponies!" she yelled as she put her face closer to his. Their faces inches from the other, Discord simply smiled and let out a maniacal laugh.

"Poor, naive Celestia. Chaos is the correct form of life. But I'm not blind. There needs to be change."

"Chaos isn't the- Wait, what did you just say?"

"This world, it's so boring now!" he complained. "Everything is so predictable. Nothing has any order, and sometimes order is the best kind of chaos. When ponies are allowed to do what they want, they have no problems. Problems are fun!"

"What are you getting at, Discord?" she asked, befuddled at Discord's sudden change of ideals.

"You're here to imprison me, and you'll do so even if I agree to step down and let you take over, which we both know I won't. This is my kingdom," he snapped, (angrily) glaring at Celestia as he stood straight up, towering over her. "Mine, and I won't let you have it. There's no way I'll sit back, imprisoned, while you turn my world into a place of order. If anyone is going to do that, it's going to be me!"

"Oh? And what are you going to do, ask us to kindly leave? Forget it, Discord."

"Leave? Oh, no! You see, Equestria needs a new leader. They won't trust me to lead an orderly world," he pointed out. That much was true, Celestia realized, but she still didn’t understand what Discord wanted.

"I'm not understanding you," she admitted.

"Like I said, I'll give you two the chance to use your Elements and they are going to work. I'll be imprisoned and you will rule my kingdom."

"What?" Celestia puzzled, completely confused.

"Poor, befuddled Celestia. You see, earlier, while admittedly panicking on what to do, I came up with a brand new spell. You're going to love this one, actually!"

"Discord..." Celestia hesitated, taking a few steps backwards, "What are you doing? Bring my sister and give us our chance, right now!"

"I'm afraid that will have to wait, my dear. I want to demonstrate my new spell first!" he chuckled maniacally, walking closer to Celestia. "I promise you are going to love it!"

"Get back!" Celestia yelled as she shot a bolt of magic at him. Unfortunately, he simply wiggled his body to the left and avoided the shot without much effort.

"Come, come, no need for that now," he said calmly as he continued his advance. Celestia's eyes went wide as she realized that she was powerless to stop whatever it was he was about to do.

"W-what are you going to do to me?" she cried as she found herself against a wall.

"Elementary, dear Celestia. I'm taking over my own kingdom," he revealed with a maniacal laugh. When Celestia finally realized what it was he intended to do, it was too late.

He casted the spell and everything went white for Celestia and Discord both. Moments later, they both woke up, lying on the floor.

Discord stood and groaned, rubbing a hand against his face. He gasped as he looked at it and realized that he had talons, and a lions paw on the other hand. Panicking, he stood and looked at Celestia who had already stood from the ground and was laughing insanely.

"The body fits you well, Celestia!" Celestia said. "I can happily say that my spell worked, and isn't it quite amazing?"

"Discord, what have you done?" Discord yelled. "Give me back my body, right now!"

"I'm afraid I can't do that, dear." Celestia said. "Now, dear Celestia, I hate to tell you this, but during the time you are imprisoned, you might go a little crazy. You'll forget who you were, because I'll be you. You’ll eventually turn into the embodiment of chaos, while I run things, throwing in a sprinkle of madness here and there."

"No!" Discord yelled, reaching out for Celestia..

"Uh, uh! Don't touch the new body, Princess. Honestly, I don't know how you ponies walk around like this," Celestia complained as she tried to walk around. When she had gotten the hang of it, she grinned evilly at Discord. "It's been a fun chat, Celestia, but now I have to stop you from causing anymore madness."

"Discord, wait! You can rule Equestria! We’ll leave, just don't do this!" she pleaded.

"Sorry, Celestia, but I always win," she laughed. "And now I'll run my kingdom in a new way for thousands of years. And now that I think of it, I'll have to come up with a way to get rid of your sister for a millennium or so I can get all of your memories straight... Oh, I know! I'll send her to the moon after making her go insane! Could make for some good fun," she mused.

"Don't do it, Discord!"

"You shouldn't have challenged me, Celestia. But I promise I'll treat Equestria good. No more utter chaos from now on, I promise. Just a war here or there, or maybe the utter destruction of a town or some ponies lives..."

"I promise you, Discord," Discord growled, "when I escape, I'll find you and I'll take my body back!"

"I doubt that, dear. In a hundred years you will have completely gone mad and forgotten everything about your old life. Even better, you will gain all of my old memories, so you'll be madder than I am! I look forward to your return, actually."

"You won't get away with this!"

"I already have," she said as her horn lit up. Instantly, a flash of light appeared and Luna appeared, confused, next to Celestia.

"Luna, look out; he's in my body!" Discord yelled, to which Celestia gave him a confused look.

"Your games won't work on us, Discord. Luna, use the Elements!" she yelled. Luna, inclined to believe her own sister, complied.

"No... No!" Discord yelled. In the next moment, either because of the betrayal, or the realization that he lost, his mind snapped. He started laughing and looked at Celestia. "I'll be back, my dear. I'll be back, and then I'll bring chaos unlike that of which you've never seen! I'll destroy the world you worked so hard to create, then I'll take my kingdom," Discord promised.

"Yeah, I'm sure you will," Celestia said as she and Luna used the Elements. Discord just continued laughing. As the magic came at him, she place his right hand on his stomach and his left hand in the air and started singing a song. Why, he didn't know, but he wanted the statue he was turning into to be a reminder that Celestia hadn't beaten him.

Not yet.

As Discord fell over, now a complete stone statue, Celestia walked over and touched it with her hoof. Luna followed suit and the two smiled at each other.

"It's finally over, dear sister," Luna sighed, a smile of joy on her face.

"Yes," Celestia said, her pink eyes turning yellow for just a moment. "it finally is. Discord will no longer harm Equestria, and we can return peace and harmony. It's going to take a while to rebuild, Luna, but we can do it. Together."

"What did he say to you after he teleported me away?" Luna puzzled.

"He tried to convince me to join him, but I refused. I'll never be one for chaos, I told him."

"I see. He should have known you as good as I do; he wouldn't have even tried if he did," Luna pointed out as she walked away.

"Yes, Luna. But you don't know me at all," Celestia whispered low enough to where Luna wouldn't hear her. With an evil grin, she turned around and followed Luna. Behind them, the statue of Discord sat on the ground, unmoving.

If one listened closely enough, they would hear the maniacal laugh of a broken Celestia from within, cursed with the body of Discord for the rest of her life. She didn't mind anymore. All she could think about was causing chaos in her prison, because it was the only thing she could do to defy the real Discord. He wanted order with a slight hint of chaos.

When she returned, she would bring full chaos, and this time...

She would take Discord's kingdom.
