Pinkie Pie dragged her hooves through the closet in Rarity’s boutique, looking for the most dazzling gem to give Spike for his big day, “Hey Rarity, do you have anything Spike would like? I don’t know what he likes, or what his taste is for these.” She lifted up a pink stone and licked it, taking in the flavor of dirty and stone polish. “Just taste like dirt to me.”
Rarity entered the room after Pinkie, noticing what she was doing and spoke, “Pinkie just what in Celestia’s name are you doing? What are you looking for?” Pinkie Pie, too busy looking for her dazzling gem for Spike, didn’t even notice Rarity’s voice, irritating the white mare. “PINKIE PIE!” She yelled, making the party pony jump.
“Oh, hey Rarity, I’m looking for a gem for Spike.” She bluntly said while still rummaging through Rarity closet.
For a second Rarity looked at her confused. “If you’re looking for a gem for Spike, you're looking at them. I’ve had to hid these ones from him.”
Pinkie Pie stopped what she was doing and peered at Rarity “No, I’m looking for the bestest, awesomest, and most dazzling gem for him. For his birthday party tonight.” Rarity gave a look of confusion once more, “You do remember, right?”
Rarity froze in her place, “spike’s birthday is today? Is that why you’re here?” Pinkie gave a sincere nod, and continued her search for the best gem she could find. “I have one gem that Spike would like, but I don’t know if you want it. It’s small.”
Rarity glared at Pinkie for a while and spoke, “Well if you don’t like it, I’ve got many more. But it’s not like I have the kind of gem you're looking for.”
Pinkie Pie kept looking and looking, but when she was about to give up she spotted something really shiny and beautiful, an oddly shaped gem. It was the same shape as the heart gem Spike had gave Rarity but, this one was the color of spike’s lavender scales and twice the size of the other one. Pinkie quickly snatched it out the drawer and smile widely. Her eyes sparkled with joy and happiness. She began bounced around in her happiness and for some odd reason, dance around Rarity making her dizzy.
Rarity annoyed by pinkie’s dancing raised her voice to end it, “PINKIE PIE, PLEASE BE A DEAR, STOP DANCING!!! You’re making me sick.’’
Pinkie Pie stopped abruptly, “Oh, sorry Rarity. I'm just so happy about tonight it’s going to be so much fun! Then when we give Spike our presents i’ll kiss him and, i-,” pinkie paused. She just said out loud what she planned tonight and Rarity froze and looked at her with curiosity.
“Pinkie, dear, did you just say you’re going to kiss Spike?”
Pinkie’s face turned from pink to a darker pink, “Rarity, I just want everypony to know that i…-i love Spike.” she turned away from Rarity.
rarity’s curiosity got the best of her, “You... love Spike?” Pinkie just nodded while she was still blushing, tring to his it under her mane.
“Yes, Rarity, i love Spike, that’s why I was looking for the best gem for him and then, i was going to kiss him and...and.” She paused again.
Rarity just looked at her and smiled, “It’s okay Pinkie, I know.”
Pinkie Pie looked up with a surprised look on her face “ You know? But how?”
“Pinkie, darling your feelings for him is obvious. I mean i’ve seen the way you act when he’s around you.” the pink and deep red mare was surprised, she thought she kept her crush on Spike well hidden, but apparently not.
“Last night i woke him up, and took him to a secret place and I told him my feelings and… and…,” once more she paused, but continued only moments later. “he looked at me and smiled, then he told me… he... he loved me, too! Then i just got too excited and i kissed him!!! Then he asked me if he could kiss me, and of course i said yes… and he blushed which made me want to keep on kissing him and then i kissed him..but this time i kissed him on the lips and he kissed me back!!!”
Rarity began to cry,“Wow…, Pinkie dear, that sounds so...magical and beautiful.” She dragged a hoof from eye to eye, and whipped her tears away.
“ i wanted it to last but, i told him i’ll wait for him for a year or two but… i couldn’t wait anymore!..... i want to be with him right now and forever and maybe one day marry him as well, but for now i need everyponies help getting ready for his surprise.“
“Alright Pinkie, i would love to help you, but we need to tell the other’s first, then we can get started, okay darling? pinkie gave a sincere shake of her head, and walked with rarity to twilight’s house to get ready.
At her house, pinkie announced her big secret to every pony, even twilight. every pony was shocked at what pinkie had done to the small cute dragon, loving him so much and so fast. pinkie, as rambunctious as she was, blushed from embarrassment. everypony laughed at her, and enjoyed her story.
twilight was the first to speak up, “pinkie, i’m glad you have feelings for spike, and as your friend, i’ll help you tonight. plus having you as a daughter-in-law would be nice.”
Apple Jack, as she was, gave her honest opinion, “well geez pinkie, i feel sorry for all the ponies who won’t get to be yours. sure i’ll help ya.”
rainbow dash, didn’t even care, to answer and gave her a nod of agreement, grinning at her. fluttershy, agreed with rainbow dash, and tried to answer, but chickened out half way
pinkie was overjoyed, hugging everypony , and thanking them all. “i’m glad you’re all helping me, let’s make this spike’s best birthday ever!!!” She squeezed every pony tighter, and fluttershy squeaked.
