Chapter 11: The Storm

Chapter 11: The Storm

Twilight had explained the story of the 'Allicorn Colt' to Eagle who simply nodded and understood every aspect of the tale. He's heard of the good, the bad, and the ugly, and he understood all of it, every single thing. Twilight soon stood up as she wiped off the dust from the fallen books off her shirt as she sighed in relief. "Well then I guess it's time to contact the princess and inform them about you." Twilight said as she pulled out a scroll and pen causing Eagle's pupils shrank.

"Uhh... I'm really of no use to the princesses."

"Why not? Your perfect, you-"

"I mean I met him at the age of 10. I haven't seen him for ten years, and I never saw him again. How would I know where he's suppose to be?"

Twilight placed her finger under her lip to think until a light popped above her head. "I know, we can use a memorization spell."

Eagle's eyes shrank even more (don't know how that could happen) as he kept thinking of more scapegoats. "You mean like those spells where you can see years in the past?"

"Yes." Twilight simply said as her horn began to shine with magic.

"Twilight I will tell you one last time. It probably won't work, I mean like this alicorn stallion is powerful with magic right?" Twilight nodded as he cleared his throat. "He probably has some immunity to spells like this, I mean he's an alicorn. That race is a master race in magic!" Eagle exclaimed as Twilight opened her mouth to object, but found Eagle's counter argument agreeable.

"Hmm... I guess your right. Okay, well I think it's time for your next delivery." She said as she levitated a few books and a few addresses as she gave them to Eagle. "Just take these books and pick some up and you'll be relieved for the door. Just be sure to come back to receive your bits."

"Got it." Eagle nodded as he placed the books in his bag and left to do his job. Throughout the day he's been delivering and receiving books as he came to his last delivery. He read the owner of the book. "Rarity Belle eh? And she lives at.....Carousel Boutique." Eagle looked around as he found a tall, posh looking building.

"That must be the place." Eagle predicted as he walked up to the door and knocked on it.

"Coooooooooommiiiiiing." Said a voice that sounded like a pony from Canterlot. The door opened to reveal a marshmallow white unicorn mare with a violet curled mane. "Oh I know you, from Pinkie's latest party." She smiled.

"Ehhhhh yep, so you are Rarity Belle I presume?"

"Yes, and may I ask why you are here?"

"I'm here to deliver this Fashion History book to you from Twilight." Eagle said as he pulled out a pink and blue gem encrusted book as Rarity took the book and flipped through the designs and dresses from the book.

"Oh these are divine darling!" She awed as she pulled out a few bits and placed it on Eagle's hand. "Take these as a tip."

"N-No, I-"

"Oh please take them, I insist darling."

"Well, if you insist." Eagle shrugged as he placed the bits in his pouch. No wonder she's the 'Element of Generosity' Eagle said in his head as he looked up to see dark clouds floating in the sky. "Looks like it'll rain soon, possibly a storm."

"Well if you need an umbrella, I have some in my store."

"Seriously? Man you are really generous."

"I take that as a big compliment thank you, now let's get inside before you become soaked." Rarity instructed as Eagle walked inside.

"Soo where are the umbrellas?

"They should be in the closet." Rarity said as she walked in the closet as looked around. But no rain shields seemed to be around. "Hmm... oh dear, it seems I've run short on umbrellas."

"Oh, well then I'm just gonna have to use my coat to keep me dry."

"Now wait darling I can't have you soaked." She thought for a minute until an idea flashed in her head. "I know, I can make you a raincoat to go. Though it might cost you."

"No problem, I can pay."

'Excellent, now how do you want that designed?"

"Just dark brown, like my clothes."

Rarity hissed at the sigh of Eagle's clothes, they looked dirty like they've crawled through a war with mud. "W-Well.... if you insist."

"Thank you, how long will this take?"

"Just about twenty minutes darling, so make yourself at home."

"Thanks." Eagle appreciated as he sat down on a nearby couch and looked around. He then heard a little filly's voice from up stairs as he heard footsteps following down the stairs.

"Rarity! Can you help me with my..." The filly stopped to see Eagle sitting on the couch.

"Sweetie Belle I am currently working on my project for my client."

"But I need help with my Equestrian History homework!" The filly pouted as the fashion designer sighed in stressed.

"Uh... maybe I can help her." The two ponies looked at Eagle with surprise.

"Really thanks mister." As she ran towards Eagle and pulled on his arm dragging him towards upstairs.

"Thank you Eagle, for this, I think I can lower the price for the coat." Rarity thanked as Eagle soon left with the filly.

The small filly led Eagle into her bedroom as she soon zoomed off to her papers. "So what is your name mister? My name is Sweetie Belle, and I'm Rarity's little sister."

"Well nice to meet you Sweetie Belle, so why do you need help with Equestrian History?"

"Well, I need to find out about this one stallion who put an end to pony discrimination."

"Well I need more information to that. What was his famous acts?"

"Well, if I remember his famous speech was called, 'I Have a Dream', and he was a true Equestrian hero." Sweetie Belle informed as Eagle smiled and shed a small tear.

"I know who you're talking about, his name is Martin Hoofer King Jr. and he is my personal hero."

"Well what can you tell me about him?" Eagle smiled as he started to explain the acts of non violent protests against prejudice ponies from the previous period of Equestria. Sweetie Belle recorded as much information as Eagle could speech as she became more and more interested in the stallion (Dr. King).

---500 years ago, 500 years after the banishment of Nightmare Moon.---

Quick Note: This is just an allegorical version of Martin Luther King Jr.

Eagle sat in a usual pub as he was surrounded by many pegasi and unicorns, but no earth ponies. He heard the bell ring as a few earth ponies came in causing the owner and many non earth ponies to frown at their entrance. The pub owner got up as he walked towards the earth ponies with a club hidden behind his back. "S'cuse be boys, I'm gonna haf'ta ask you boys to leave. Now!" The pub owner grunted as the earth ponies, except one, all had confused looks.

"What? What the moon did we do?" One of the earth ponies asked as the owner tightly gripped his club even harder.

"I'm not gonna ask again, leave or things will get ugly." The group of earth ponies soon left after hearing one grumbling.

"I just wanted one drink." He mumbled in frustration as Eagle frowned and walked towards the pub owner.

"Hey man why'd you kick those ponies out? I mean this pub's local right?" Eagle asked as the owner snickered.

"Heh yea, local to only non Earths. They're nothing but trash and rocks, should be put for labor only." As Eagle heard those harmful words he gave a sigh and placed a medium sum of bits on the counter.

"I'll take a bottle of whiskey." The bartender nodded as he took the bits and pulled out a whiskey bottle and wrapped in it a brown paper bag. Eagle took the bottle and left, he looked around for the group of earth ponies from earlier until he found them running away from some guards. He quietly followed them until they were trapped in an alleyway.

"C'mon guards, we didn't do nothing!" One of the earth ponies pleaded as a guard punched him in the face, spraying his teeth from his metal gauntlet. The earth pony fell to the floor, bleeding, painting the cement crimson red as the rest of the guards laughed. Eagle growled as he walked up behind the farthest guard and wrapped his arms around his neck and mouth, shielding his screams and cracked his neck without a sound. He gently placed him down on the floor to hide the sound of armor as he pulled out his sword and silently killed the next two guards, only leaving one last guard to himself. Fortunately, he never noticed his buddies' deaths behind him.

"Hey!" Eagle taunted as the guard turned around only to find horror of his fellow men killed without a sound, blood spilled and mix as the group of earth ponies' eye widened at the sigh of a non earth helping them. "You better knock it off or you're next." The guard growled as he pulled out a spear and charged towards Eagle with a roar. Eagle simply caught his spear's body in mid charge as he placed his hand on his shoulder and shape shifted into a wolf.

To the guard's sight, all he could see was a wolf about to pounce his face with teeth bull of bone crushing fear and despair that he could see his own death right in front of his eyes. But instead, the wolf simply jumped over his shoulder causing his to shiver and faint to the floor in fear, leaving his tears fend for themselves as they leaving from the guard's eyes. Eagle transformed back into his normal self as scuffed off any remaining dust from his little fare. "You guys okay?" He asked the group of earth ponies as they shivered with nods. "Alright, you guys might wanna get out of here, other ponies might think you guys did this."

"Ah don't appreciate your violence sir." One earth pony preached as he approached Eagle. He had a dark brown coat with a black buzz cut with a small mustache. "But I do appreciate your help for us, not many folks like you help us earth ponies."

"Well it was either you or them, either way, they were gonna kill you guys and blame it on other earths." Eagle said as the earth pony slowly shoot his head.

"Well sir, may I say that we can solve this with non-violence."

"That'll be the day when Celestia fixes this prejudice age."

"Well sir, may I just say that 'I Have a Dream' that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed." He said with a serious tone as Eagle's simply nodded with a small grin.

"Well that's one helluva dream. Oh ya and you can have this." Eagle said as he gave the group of Earth ponies the whiskey he bought. They all thanked Eagle as one of them picked up and carried their downed stallion, and started to leave Eagle's crime scene until Eagle spoke up to the stallion from earlier. "Oh yea, sir I never got your name."

"My name? Sir, my name is Martin Hoofer King Jr. But my friends call me King."

"Well follow your dreams Mr. King, they should come true." Eagle said as he reached out his hand, Mr. King soon shook his hand as they both smiled. "Take it easy, work hard."

"You too sir." Mr. King said as they soon separated leaving Eagle to clean up the mess. He slowly picked up each corpse one by one as the stallion came to his mind, along with his conscience.

He was nice, a really nice fellow.

He was wasn't he? And I like his 'I Have a Dream' thing he said.

He could end this y'know? The thing Celestia can't stop.

She's a bitch and you know it.

Eagle....

Just... stop, it's already too late for her apology.

Well Mr. King does have a point, I mean he could use non violence to stop this all.

Maybe, but it's still my violence, I use it the way I want, and that's final.

If you say so.

---5 years later---

Eagle sat on the rooftops as he looked down on a massive crowd filled with ponies of many races. All earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns alike all clutched up together and clapped like equals to one stallion. Who preached with pride, gratitude, and honor as Princess Celestia stood next to him with a proud smile on her face. He aimed at the stallion through a telescope and he continued to smile down on his friend. He could hear the magic enhanced stones roaring across Equestria, everypony in the country could hear it. Until it concluded with his final words. "Free at last, Free at last, Great Celestia a-mighty, We are free at last!" He finally concluded as the entire crowd caused an uproar, it was so loud, the the skylights near Eagle cracked a bit. He could see through his eye piece, Dr. King shaking his hand with the princess and leaving towards his home.

Eagle smiled as he jumped off his rooftop and 'eagle flew' towards a post close to the ground to land safely. He applied on his hood as he walked through the crowd unseen as he followed Dr. King. He followed him into his apartment building as he knocked on his door, King opened his door with a smile as Eagle smiled back. "Well if it isn't my good friend Eagle, come in come in."

"To you too Dr. King. I wanted to congratulate you on your succession."

"Thank you Eagle, and might Ah say that it's a beautiful sunrise for this day."

"Yea, I know. I may have been wrong about the whole non violent protests. And it seems I was." Eagle chuckled as he swore he could hear some scuffling around the apartment's balcony. But he ignored it as King brought out a couple of cigarettes as he lit them up and gave one to Eagle. They both chatted as Dr. King's balcony door open to reveal a pegasus wielding a knife.

"Damn you King! I'll kill you!" The pegasus barked as he charged Dr. King with a knife and stabbed him clear in the chest. Eagle's eyes shrunk as he took out his sword and cleanly decapitated the murderous pegasus as he rushed towards King in aid.

"Aghh!!......Celestia this...." Dr. King hissed as Eagle pressed his hands against his wounds to stop the blood pressure.

"Hang in there Dr. King! Just-" Eagle was interrupted as Dr. King gently gripped his coat and smiled.

"Gnng... don't worry 'bout me....s'long as...my ponies are...safe and...'free at last'." Dr. King gently pushed Eagle's hand away from his wound who didn't even hesitate. "Eagle, remember these words, There is Always, a Time for Peace'." King concluded as the weight from his hand felt heavy and dropped like water from ice as he lost grip of Eagle's coat. Eagle stared at King as he gave a heavy sigh and placed two fingers over his eyes, he closed them and placed his hands together on his chest.

"You can rest now King, time for retirement." Eagle said in respect as he heard a voice coming from outside. It was Princess Celestia, and Eagle had no time to go 'back'. He quickly wrote down a note as he ran towards the balcony and jumped off and flew to a safe distance with his 'Eagle Flight'.

---present---

"And that's pretty much all I can say about Dr. King." Eagle concluded as Sweetie Belle wrote down every last data about the stallion. I miss him. A voice said in his head as a knock came from Sweet's front door. Eagle opened it to reveal Rarity with an uncertain look on her face. "Oh hey Rarity.... what's wrong? You look uneasy." He noticed beads of sweat rolling down Rarity as she gave a gulp.

"Um... Eagle can you please come with me."

"S-Sure." Eagle said with a confused done as his eyes noticed a bruise on her arm. He could hear multiple stallions coming from downstairs as he grabbed Rarity by the shoulder for pause. "What's going on?" He whispered as Rarity began to cry with fear.

"I-I-I'm sorry Eagle, I didn't mean for this to happen. There are some ruffians downstairs that demand for my jewelry. I think that they are trying to rob me."

Eagle grunted as he pulled Rarity back into the same room with Sweetie Belle who had a look of confusion. "What's going on Rarity?"

"Sweetie, Rarity, stay here and keep the door locked until I come back." Eagle fiercely instructed as he went out and closed the door behind him. Rarity levitated a chair and plugged it under the door handle as she held Sweetie Belle close.

"Rarity what's happening? What's Eagle gonna do?" Sweetie asked with a teaspoon of fear as Rarity held her even tighter.

"He's going to help us Sweetie, just stay close."

Eagle slowly walked down the hall towards the stairs as he thought of a plan. Damn, out of all the crimes of places, it's gotta be the Element of Generosity's place.

Well what are you gonna do? You can't use your weapons, they're magic! Twilight could track and analyze the leftover mana from their deaths.

I'll improvise, hang on, is that a bathroom? Eagle stopped as he opened the door to reveal a marble what bathroom. She's a mare so she's gotta have... Eagle searched through the drawers until he found a metal nail filer.Bingo. It was semi sharp at it's end with was perfect. He gripped it tightly above his thumb like a knife as he slowly sneaked down the stairs. He could see multiple dark clothed, and hooded stallions as he grind his teeth. He placed the nail filer in his pocket as he transformed into his wolf form and trotted in silence downstairs past the thug stallions. He sneaked up behind a thug as he turned back into his normal self and jabbed the nail filer hard into his neck.

The stallion thug gasped and gagged for air as his blood sprayed and dripped out. The three other thugs all pulled out their swords and daggers as they charged towards Eagle who shape shifted into an eagle and flew to the chandelier. He was attached to the chain as he took the nail filer and like a inmate, he filed the chains of the chandelier until it snapped crushing two thugs, spilling more blood across the carpets of the store. Eagle landed saftley on the ground from his eagle flight as he picked up a long sword from one of the thugs, it was simple and made of iron.

The final thug was wearing a dark black poncho with a hood shielding his eyes. Eagle closely examined a designed patch on his shoulder, it looked like a coffin with a dark laughing face, along with a skeleton arm.

"So, who are you guys?" Eagle interrogated as he readied his sword aiming the point at the thug.

"I am part of the Laughing Coffins guild. And you are our number one target, 'Eagle'." The guild member knew his name, Eagle frowned as the guild member pulled out his sword. "These were just mercenaries I hired, they mean nothing to us."

"A life always means something."

"Like your wife's?" What!? Eagle's faced turned from red to gray at the sound of the information. He gripped the sword as he charged towards the killer only to find him deflecting his attack, but Eagle scooped a fist under as he forced an uppercut on the guild member's shin. He flew up and slammed to the floor on his back as his sword bounced off his hand. He stood up and pulled out a knife and charged towards Eagle and stabbed it through his stomach, Eagle then grabbed his wrist and pulled back his first for another uppercut. His fist turned to fire as he smirked. He brought up his flaming fist forcing his body to lift from the floor as he sent the guild member flying with his body set on fire.

"Shoryuken!!!" Eagle roared as the guild member broke through the boutique's structure, his burning body was quickly diminished from the rain as he fell face flat on the muddy ground. Eagle slowly walked out, ignoring the rain as he picked up the guild member and held him by his neck as he pulled out his hatchet and placed the blade on his neck. "Who sent you!?" Eagle asked with a dark tone as he pressed the blade against the guild member's neck leaking blood.

"Geh.... our master did... he wants you....dead." The guild member said with a big maniacal smile across his face.

"Well tell him to get me himself." Eagle said as he slit his throat making his cough and wheeze out blood as he soon perished from his own blood. Eagle heavily sighed as he let the rain wash off any remaining blood from his clothes as he walked back upstairs. He shimmered his horns as he repaired the glass chandelier and the hole in the ceiling, and placed the mercenaries' corpses outside along with the guild member, he would deal with it later. He walked back upstairs as he knocked on the door the two sisters hid in. "Rarity, it's me."

"Is it over?" Her voice muffled through the door.

"Yea." Eagle gave out with a heavy breath as Rarity opened the door only to let out a gasp in horror of Eagle's wound.

"Darling you're hurt!" She said as Eagle held his wound tightly. "Get inside, Sweetie call the hospital!!!"

"NO!" Eagle interuppted as the two looked at him in shock. "I've had worse, I'll be fine. Just....just get me some bandages, some fabric, and some hot water."

"Are you sure darling, I mean."

"Trust me Rarity, I know what I'm doing." Eagle said as he huffed down on the couch. He continued to hold down the pressure on his wound as Rarity soon came with a bandage wrap, a bucket of hot water, and a piece of fabric. "Alright, first I need you to wrap the fabric into a ball, then I need you to apply the hot water onto my wound and quickly wrap the bandage around me." The two sisters agreed as Eagle shimmered his horn making his upper clothes disappeared only to reveal a separate bandage wrap on his upper body. Sweetie noticed it as she perked up.

"Hey what-"

"Don't worry about it." Eagle said as he placed the ball of fabric into his mouth. "Guurr!!!" (GO!) Eagle screamed through the fabric as he let go of his wound. Rarity slowly poured the hot water on his wound as he screamed in agony and pain, but only proven to be silenced by the fabric in his mouth as Rarity wrapped the bandage around Eagle's body. As she secured the bandage, Eagle started to breath heavily as his horn shimmered over his wound. "Alright, I can take it from here."

"What are you doing to your wound?" Sweetie Belle asked as she tilted her head.

"It's medical magic, it slowly treats and mends my wound until it's normal. But It also prevents me from using any other magic spells." Eagle said as he stood and up grunted in pain. "I gotta go, Rarity is my raincoat ready?"

"Yes but, where are you going?"

"I need to pick up my dog, I left him at Fluttershy's place."

"Well, if you're sure." The two walked downstairs as Rarity pulled out a dark brown raincoat from her work station. Eagle applied the raincoat poncho as he looked at himself in the mirror.

"Looks good, thanks. Now how much will this cost?" He asked as Rarity raised her hand.

"No need darling, you saved me and my little sister. I think that is enough."

"Well if you say so, goodbye Rarity. And tell Sweetie Belle I said farewell as well." Rarity nodded as Eagle took off towards the storm and made his way towards Fluttershy's cottage. He fought through the storm as pellets of water repeatedly poked his face and the wind swiped across his face, breezing his lips and eyes as they felt cold like ice. As he reached the cottage, he pounded on the door to try and beat the sound of thunder and the pounding rain on his back. The door opened revealing the butter mare as the wind burst through the front door and blasted her hair back.

"Hey Fluttershy, can I come in!?" He yelled through the door as Fluttershy nodded. Eagle walked inside as Fluttershy closed the door behind him. He sat down on the couch as he shivered off any remaining rain from his coat. "Thanks Fluttershy."

"Oh... it's no problem Eagle. You're here for Rebel right?"

"Yea...I was gonna take him home."

"Through that storm?" Fluttershy gasped as Eagle simply nodded. "Oh no, you can't go out there. Stay here for the night....um.... if you want to."

"Are you sure Fluttershy? I don't want to be a burden-" Eagle was interrupted as Fluttershy raised a hand.

"No it's perfectly fine. I don't wan't anypony to freeze out and get a cold from the storm."

"Well if you say so." Eagle shrugged as he lied back on the couch. "I can take the couch, don't worry about it." Eagle said as he looked around. "Where's Rebel?"

"Oh, he's playing with Winona."

"Winona? Isn't she that one dog that Applejack owns?"

"Y-Yes, he's sleeping in the other room next to her." She said nervously as Eagle cocked an eyebrow. "W-would you....um....like some dinner?"

"Uh sure. What do you got in mind?"

"Well I just made a minestrone soup in the kitchen. Would you like to have some?"

"Yea sure." Fluttershy soon got up and flew towards the kitchen as Eagle gently laid back and relaxed. Fluttershy soon came back with a tray of two bowls of soup with an extra bowl with bread, she sat across from Eagle on the other couch as the two ate and chat. Fluttershy had told about her friends and the challenges and adventures that had happen to her. As for Eagle, he had told her the times of adventure and fun he had of Canterlot. After they finished, Eagle said his thanks and they washed the dishes and headed for bed, as for Eagle, he went for the couch. He lied down as he soon drifted towards a sleep.

Eagle was out in the fields, looking as young as ever. The wind patted and slid across his face as he felt the smooth carpet like grass against his back. He looked to his left to see that there was a young mare, almost his age, snuggling him on his side. She was white like a pillow and her hair was blond like gold. As Eagle reached her mane to brush, his hand simply phased through her like water, her image then disappeared like water as Eagle sighed heavily.

"Eagle?" Eagle flinched with shrunken eyes as he turned behind him. He saw a navy blue alicorn with a sparkling midnight flowing mane.

"A-A-Auntie Luna!?"
