The Party, The Good Byes, The Tears Part 2

The crowd died down as the spectacle ended. Rainbow Dash having literally made the entire town weep from the beauty that was the Sonic Rainboom at Sunset, It was the finale of her first performance as Wonderbolt. She was excited and a bit sore but the pain was worth it as the effect was over whelming.

Soon the crowd split up as some got ready for the party and others stayed behind to get autographs. Rainbow Dash had been asked to sign random objects from paper to flanks. She wasn't going to disappoint her fans. I have fans now... about time. She was taking pictures with families and other Celebrities. Even Celestia herself took a picture with Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle on either side. All this attention was filling her body with pride. Her ego growing and without any consequence as no one could put on a costume and out trump her this time.

Spitfire was watching the spectacle that was Rainbow Dash, everyone wanted to know her. She was the talk of the town the creme de la creme. She remembered being that when she was the new Wonderbolt. Her rise to being the captain was infamously quick because she had the know how. Spitfire could already see herself giving Captain status to Rainbow Dash when she was ready to step down. Though just as she enjoyed watching Rainbow Dash being praised and admired a small part of her felt betrayed. I understand she is new but seriously it's almost as if she was Princess Celestia. I bet it's because the Sonic Rainboom, what am I worrying about anyways it's not like the Rainboom will be popular forever.

Rainbow Dash was smiling no wait grinning, yeah she was grinning. Nothing could break her mood, nothing except an orange filly with purple hair. She saw Scootaloo approach with the crowd of people and knew that she wasn't going to be wanting an autograph unless she knew civility and how not to make a scene. "Hey Scoots, you don't need to be in line to get anything from me." She said as sincere as she could. Even though she was leaving to be a Wonderbolt she still was going to maintain her honorary big sister status and help Scoots as much as she could just not as often or as much.

Scootaloo poker faced and not really wanting to embarrass Rainbow Dash just asked her a simple question "When the party starts and before you get lost in the sea of ponies, can we talk Sis?" The way she said sis was like a knife to Rainbow's heart and to her resolve. But Scootaloo wasn't trying to be vindictive just being honest with her emotions. The conversation wasn't booming among the crowd as it was a silent one between the two. She had no intention of ruining her big sister's rep.

Rainbow Dash nodded as a response afraid of how her words might sound . She then continued to schmooze with other ponies before having to leave to get ready at her cloud mansion. She excused herself and decided to finish getting ready alone. It was the last time she would be there. The house was to be sold that night some wealthy stallion bought it since it was now the ex house of the newly famed Rainbow Dash. So while she had nothing left in her house that made it her home having already packed and moved everything of value, it was still her home. For the night at least. She looked around slowly as she played out memories in her head.

Fluttershy approached Rarity's boutique. It was a few minutes till the party was to start and she wanted to see what Rarity had wanted. Just as she knocked on the door a dramatic voice answered "Darling, it's open, please come on in." Fluttershy entered without a moment's hesitation. She wanted to see what her marshmallow colored friend had in store for her.

Rarity herself was giddy as hell, she couldn't wait to show the timid mare her special project she was working on. "Oh darling you are going to love it, and oh la la what a nice outfit you are wearing." She noticed that Fluttershy was wearing some fancy outfit that Rarity had made just for this occasion, just she didn't remember it making her look so stunning, something was off. The shy pegasus looked absolutely amazing and had this smile that wouldn't fade. "So darling before I give you this 'gift' I need to know, how was your visit to Rainbow's?" She said as if she knew exactly what was going on. She didn't but she had to pretend if she wanted the information,

Fluttershy blushed and looked away. "I .. um... you see... eep" was her reply. She wasn't one for talking about things to others that were extremely personal unless she was in the spa with Rarity where she felt more relaxed and able to spill secrets of her childhood. Rarity was some pony she could trust. Regardless of what she told the marshmallow pony it would never leave her lips. But could she tell her about what happened?

Rarity grinned and figured she could work this timid mare into telling her what had transpired between her and Rainbow that she wasn't willing to share so quickly. "So how was it. I mean it was your first time right?" She felt guilty poking around like this with words but she needed to see if things were already rolling beyond her control. The timid mare slowly looked down and Rarity feared the worst.

"Well... we didn't get to.... actually ... do... it." She said as she looked up and started speaking slowly. "Well she got out of the shower and..."

Fluttershy was just ready to put the final pieces on while sprucing up her own hair. She wanted to look amazing for Rainbow Dash. She also wanted to be able to give Rainbow something that she wouldn't be able to give anyone else. So intent on her goal she was ready to do something that she wasn't exactly comfortable with I will seduce her.

Rainbow Dash has just finished getting out of the shower at this point. She looked towards the butter colored mare and smiled "Wow Flutters," She started while looking at her old friend with a beaming smile a hint of a blush "You sure do look amazing." She said with absolute honesty and without her usual cocky tone.

Fluttershy blushed and hid in her bangs. She wasn't prepared for this, how could she be. Rainbow doesn't want something like me when she can get any pony she wants. No I will not let my fears stop me anymore. "Thanks Dash I am sure you will look great once I finish brushing your coat and you put on your outift." She said weakly. Way to go idiot you totally messed that up.

Rainbow Dash just chuckled "Hey shy can you dry me off I kind of don't want to ruin your outfit by shaking off my wetness." She was itching to shake her body and relieve herself of the dripping water. Her usual manners was gone and she went to 'snuggle mode' as she called it. When around Fluttershy her armor was off. She didn't need to be some pony who the world relied on or who needed to maintain a rep. She was comfortable around her. It was something odd to feel this way but it was what worked.

Fluttershy grabbed one of Rainbow's towels and began drying her off. she was extra careful not to be rough and especially around the wings. Pegasi wings are extremely sensitive and even though Rainbow's wings are more durable than most it still needed to be treated gently. She continued drying her off almost lost in the sensation of being this close she was breathing on rainbow and soon found herself face to face , muzzle to muzzle.

Rainbow Dash wasn't sure of her next move. She just leaned in and did what she wanted to do. Whether it was from her earlier excitement or just rare mood of wanting to show affection. She pressed her lips to Fluttershy's and kissed her. It wasn't a passionate kiss nor a longing kiss it was just a kiss that was meant to be given to someone she truly cared for and admired. While Fluttershy wasn't a brave or fast pony like Rainbow Dash she was still a beautiful, kind and extremely caring one.

Fluttershy was at crossroads. Her mind battled for miliseconds before she just went with it and returned the kiss. She wasn't going to show her desperation or true feelings but wasn't going to allow this moment to be interrupted by anything. She was pressing back with equal force keeping the kiss going. subconsciously she opened her mouth and was rewarded by a tongue that slipped into it. Oh my goodness... this is actually happening?

Rainbow Dash was tasting Fluttershy's mouth inside moving her tongue testing the waters. She was exploring her oldest friend's mouth as if spelunking in a cave. She wasn't aware of how passionate the kiss was getting and wasn't going to think about it. Fluttershy's so perfect... what am I doing? She wouldn't let thoughts kill this moment, she wanted to press on the urge and need building.

Fluttershy moaned a bit and mentally chided herself for that. She wasn't sure what would break the spell that seemed to have taken place and was being extra careful. She became brave and started rubbing Rainbow's mane with her foreleg and broke the kiss while saliva trailed between them. "Rainbow... " she got out before tackling her to the floor.

Rainbow was surprised by the bold move and didn't know whether to fight or flight as her wings jutted out from the intimate situation. her mind settled on fight as her lips were attacked by Fluttershy. She isn't a top I am damn it. She rolled Fluttershy over and assumed her role. "I am not a bottom..." She said huskily. She returned her lips to Fluttershy claiming them for herself. She started sliding a hoof down the timid mare's body and heard her moan gently while her face turned crimson from the activities.

Fluttershy was so excited it wasn't a dream but just as things were getting heated a knock on the door broke them from their moment. Buck what the buck, shoot. She felt like killing whoever the buck was stupid enough to ruin the moment she had so wanted since she first realized she loved her cyan colored friend.

Rainbow Dash quickly composed herself and waited for Fluttershy to get decent herself before they approached the door. Spitfire revealed when the door opened and she had a smile on her face "You know if you wanted to 'play' it would have been better if you didn't do so right before a show. We got to go Rainbow." Rainbow Dash broke from her state and realized the situation. So the moment had died and she got ready nothing more was said to each other even after spitfire left. She was too conflicted to say anything.

"....and that is what happened." She said as her face was more red than Apple Jack's apples. Rarity was stunned. "Oh my... it just got hot in here all of a sudden I am going to open a window." She said as she began using her horn to open windows after all she had magic it may not be like Twilight's but it was magic none the less.

Fluttershy sat there pawing the floor. "You don't think I made a mistake did you?" She asked unsure of what she may have done. She didn't expect for Rarity to grin like a maniac and respond with "No my dear you haven't in fact this is going to help get the awkwardness out the way when I give you my gift for you... that is meant for Rainbow." she finished with a wink.

Rarity didn't even need mind reading powers to know what was going through her timid friend's mind. She didn't want to keep anticipation going so she just grabbed the box that had the gift inside. "Open it darling and before you freak out just know if you use it, Rainbow will be yours." She said with the most sincere and giddy tone. She saw the timid mare open the box and look inside.

"Eep!" She was shocked, never had she imagined that before today Rarity suspected her feelings towards Rainbow Dash. Did I accidently tell her? Was it something obvious? Was this gift really going to make Rainbow want me? Fluttershy eyed it, she saw why it was supposed to attract Rainbow but could she really wear it? "So... how long have you known, and how did you manage to get your hands on something like this?"

Rarity froze, she hadn't expect any questions from her shy friend. "I um knew since you kept telling me about those stories. You being bullied and Rainbow saving your flank, it was something romantic." She chuckled trying to avoid the other question. "So yeah it was kind of obvious dear you spoke of Rainbow as if she was life water." She coughed.

Fluttershy blushed and hoped no one else knew. She wasn't afraid of people knowing her sexuality it just wasn't anyone's business and if more people knew of her love of Rainbow Dash things could get awkward. "So... then how did you get this gift... I mean is this why you really went into the base?" She eyed her carefully something was off and Rarity was never this nervous.

"Yes I went there under the guise to calm Rainbow just to get the method of making that outfit... but you need to know the whole truth before a lie gets out of hand and ruins things." She looked down. "When I approached Spitfire and asked to visit Rainbow Dash... she told me..."

"I am sorry but no one is allowed on the base." Spitfire spoke to Rarity, not that anyone wasn't allowed but only a few select people were allowed on the base since it was technically a military base and a secret one. It was meant only for a certain few to know about in case spies were to infiltrate. Even though the times of war was gone it was still a necessary evil to be so isolated from the world.

Rarity batted her eyes "Please... please you must let me see her. I have to be there when she is getting her outfit made or she won't sit still." She half lied, she wasn't sure if Rainbow would sit still or not but Rarity had her plans and no one was going to get in her way.

"Are you telling me that the impulsive and reckless newbie will actually sit still just because you are there?" She said eyeing the unicorn wearily. "Wait... it makes sense now." She was putting the puzzle pieces together. "So you are her marefriend eh?"

Rarity blushed and wasn't sure how she should answer, if I am honest I will have no chance but if I lie this could make things awkward. " Yes I am... me and Rainbow Dash are marefriends, I won't stay long I promise I just want to be there to make sure she doesn't annoy the designer as I know how important the fitting of the suit is." She tried to remain calm and play it off.

Spitfire just shrugged "Alright, just know your limited visit will be escorted and you will only see that one part of the base. I don't need you making surprise visits while I am training the newbie. She has a lot of potential and I want her to shine." She said puffing out her chest with pride.

"Oh I won't dare of dreaming of ruining her chances. Just know she doesn't exactly want people to know about us so if you could keep this a secret and not tell the base or anyone it would be best." She said trying to make sure she could save her ass, Spitfire just nodded in response as she darted off to get back to base. Rarity sighed.

"So that is how I was able to get inside... and get you that gift." She finished ashamed of her deceitful ways and not sure how Fluttershy would take it. The canary mare was quiet and she was pawing at the ground. Rarity felt like she wanted to run and hide. She didn't want to be disliked by her closest friend

Fluttershy just smiled "Well it's ok... I mean you did it to help me I guess.. just I am scared I mean... what if I do this and she ... " Rarity chuckled at the usually quiet mare "Darling, she almost took you in her new home you think she won't if your both alone?" she was eyeing her carefully.

Fluttershy smiled and felt happy "You are right I will do this. Thank you Rarity " She said as she gave her friend a hug. She was now sure of herself and would be making Rainbow Dash her's. She looked at the time and nearly screamed "Rarity, it's time to go the party is starting." She said while mewing "oh my goodness" over and over getting the gift put in the box and rushing it home.

The party was in full swing, ponies were dancing, some were chatting , and others were eating. It was a good time all around. The moon was slowly rising marking the night had begun. Luna was actually happy she was there, she was talking with Twilight as the festivities began. She never had been to many of the new age parties since she was trapped on the moon for a thousand years. She found this one quite enjoyable.

The rest of the Wonderbolts had arrived to party all dressed in formal attire. That is how they usually appeared during fancy events unfortunately for them this was a Pinkie Pie party and dress codes mean nothing. None had their suits on and the guest of honor was nowhere to be found. So they just mingled with the towns folks and waited for the night to end. It's not like they were an anti social group just they really weren't into parties just most of them weren't into it.

Pinkie Pie was dancing and singing as usual, she was so excited to see a lot of people attend her big party for Rainbow Dash. She had made sure everything was perfect. On her end at least after all she wasn't the one with the checklist. Twilight had been over seeing the party preparations but Pinkie didn't care all she wanted was to see Dashie smile before she couldn't see that precious smile anymore. The irony of the situation huh pinkie? The pony that made you smile is now leaving and yet you smile as it happens. I mean all you have to do is hurt her secretly and she couldn't leave you... then you can see her smile all the time... and never have to be alone. "Stop it... I don't want to." She said to herself silently.

Applejack had noticed Pinkie being upset and approached her, "Ya ok Sugar Cube?" She wasn't sure what was eating Pinkie, then again thinking about it, Pinkie had been one who usually kept smiling regardless of anything. Only that one time had she been so down. She was down and RD brought her out o' her funk.

Pinkie just smiled and bounced around "Of course I am ok it's a Paaartaaay." She then jumped around and pretended to enjoy the night with her friends. But something bothered her, "Where the hay is Dashie, and Rarity and Fluttershy?" She looked around, Some ponies just shrugged others looked around and some just kept enjoying the party with the music blaring.

Rainbow Dash was in the outskirts of Ponyville away from the park. "So kid I am guessing you aren't going to forgive me huh?" She spoke softly while looking at the one pony who idolized her. "I know I will be gone but it's not like you can't visit once in a while or see a show." That was a mistake to say.

"Actually Rainbow Dash once you leave.... I won't be able to see you. My foster parents aren't rich and they don't care enough about me to even want to help me. They are earth ponies and can't fly. I won't learn to fly, and since I can't fly I will have to rely on other means of transportation...I have no money..." She was crying and Rainbow Dash wasn't going to interrupt, "I was so happy the day you were going to be my big sister, I have no family. I was an orphan for years and finally got picked up they couldn't have children of their own but they wanted a child and thought it would be great." She looked down somber but continued "They expected an earth pony child not a pegasi, and so they treated me like an earth pony. I don't know how to fly and I want to. I want to fly Rainbow Dash. The season pass you give me is a joke. It's cruel, because I can't ever use them unless you come to Ponyville. I wanted you to be there for me, I thought you did too. I wanted to fly with you. I wanted you to be my wings until mine were strong to be with yours. You... you are abandoning me like my parents."
that was it. The damn inside scootaloo broke and she just cried her heart out.

Rainbow Dash couldn't help it. Her eyes started leaking. Soon the leak became a waterfall as she grabbed Scootaloo and held her tight. "No... I won't abandon you.. I can take you with me, we can go together kid right?" She didn't give her a chance to answer "Look I can.. visit you.. you can get free rides I will pay for it. I mean... kid I didn't know it was bad... I assumed you were alright because you seemed so happy when you are with your friends... how could I have known I was crushing you?" She cried loudly. She wanted to escape but loyalty be damned she had to take it. "It's not fair Scootaloo, I cant just drop my dream when it's finally here. I am sorry about your situation I truly am but what am I supposed to do? Drop everything marry Fluttershy and adopt you? Maybe you and Shy would be happy.... but what about me? How am I supposed to be happy knowing I had my chance at my dream and it was taken from me?" She wasn't sure when it happened but at that moment Scootaloo became empty.

" ... You are right... I guess I am just being selfish." She said as if it wasn't even her speaking. There was nothing more to say and nothing left to fight for. Rainbow Dash wasn't going to be there for her... "I guess I was just happy to have someone cool actually care for me... but you have your dream so go bucking live it." With that she ran off...

Rainbow Dash for the first time in her life felt slow... it's the race all over again, I wasn't able to hear the screams of shy, because I was too busy being awesome. I am still awesome... just why does it hurt to be awesome... Damn it. Why are you doing this to me life. First you take my parents from me, now you rip apart my life all because I want to be happy... am I supposed to not be happy?

She wasn't going to let her night be ruined. She decided to put on a strong face and get to the party, after she wiped her face from the few rain drops that graced her face that hadn't fallen anywhere else, after all it couldn't be tears because a Rainbow doesn't cry.

Rainbow made it to the party with her usual tone intact "Hope you guys aren't too bored because the party has just arrived." Her false bravado in full gusto and her eyes scanning the scene. Vinyl is here woah. They really went all out. Got to hand it to Pinkie to throw a party. She looked as people stared at her with amusement and started cheering. That was it she was in her zone, no longer racked with guilt as her mind was allowing success to fill her with joy. Yeah I am bucking awesome.

Applejack strolled up to Rainbow and side checked her gently, "howdy partner, was wondering when ya were coming?" Which was a mistake to say when Rainbow was in a joking mode before she could stammer something out Rainbow immediately replied with "If you want to know when I was coming all you had to do was look in my eyes," she chuckled and Applejack smiled. Maybe she won't change an'will still be the annoying cyan blur that makes me smile.

Rarity broke in and spoke with her usual tone "I just arrive and already you are acting uncouth." She had a hoof to her head as if something intense was going on. This earned her a few chuckles and suddenly everyone was happy. It felt like the good times, and the sense that maybe everything would be alright filled the air.

Then Twilight happened. "Hey Rainbow Dash mind if I speak with you for a moment?" She hinted for the others to vacate the area with the way she was pointing her head. "It won't take long I promise." She said to elude questioning from the others. she started walking off with Rainbow trailing behind leaving the other two ponies confused and unsure.

Rainbow stopped her at some point and looked into her eyes "What is it Twilight?" She was not in the mood to be interrupted from her partying but Twilight isn't the kind of pony to ruin a party is she? Turns out she was and Rainbow regretted following her.

"You do know that things are getting a bit awkward around here right... I think it's because you are leaving us, and I know you are going to visit a lot but you need to..." She couldn't finish a hoof was pressed to her mouth and she widened her eyes as she saw the expression on Rainbow's face it wasn't anger but it wasn't kindness. It was a look of disgust.

"You don't get to lecture me about leaving the group. You are the one who decided to ascend to an Alicorn and become some royal princess who doesn't have time for her friends. You think you get to lecture me? You don't care about anyone but your precious princess. I am happy with my decision. I can accept any consequence of it. I already destroyed my biggest fan's hopes and dreams don't make me destroy my friendship with you tonight." She spoke as if her heart was ice, the tone was nothing Twilight ever heard from the usually charismatic and pegasus.

Twilight wasn't going to give up. "Listen first of all I didn't ascend on my own it was my destiny. can you blame me for that really?" Tears started spilling and Rainbow Dash wasn't was getting close to her, Rainbow's forelegs wrapped around her lavender body.

"Look you have your destiny, I get that, and I have mine. I was destined to be a Wonderbolt. If it wasn't my destiny then why did my cutie mark appear after the Sonic Rainboom? Think about it. I am sure things will be fine. I won't be a stranger and I will love you all from afar. Just like you are loving us from afar." She said gently and then walked away "Nice talk Twi let's not do it again."

Twilight just sat there alone and layed down on her stomach and sobbed, She was approached by Luna who cheekily asked "Want me to break her legs for you?" Seeing no reply from Twilight made her sad... "I was merely joking I wasn't going to.." she didn't finish as she was tackled and sobbed on. Luna wasn't sure how to handle emotions as she wasn't her sister. So she just did what came natural to her and wrapped a wing around the young Alicorn.

The party was starting to die down. It was getting late and all the fun was to be had. There stood a few friends in the midst of the ever shrinking sea of ponies till it became a puddle of five. The group shared some small talk before a marshmallow unicorn decided it was time for her to go to bed. She had already fulfilled her goal and it was up to a certain shy one to get her own gift of the night. The pink party pony was going to clean up around the place since it was her party, an orange farm pony offered to help. That left two Pegasi alone with eachother as they walked towards the shy one's home.

Rainbow spoke up "So shy... about earlier... I am sorry I didn't mean to..." she was cut off by Fluttershy's hoof she just continued to enjoy the silence as they approached Fluttershy's hut. the quiet night with a beautiful moon, it was too sappy a scene for Rainbow but it also felt kind of nice to enjoy a moment like this. After all she won't be able to on tour.

Fluttershy looked at Rainbow Dash and made an offer that would change everything. One that she wanted to make and one that once she made will be the cause for all glory or all heart ache. "Rainbow ... will you spend the night with me? I have a gift I want to give you... and I want to have one last night with my friend before you rush off to live your dream."

Rainbow Dash didn't understand what she had meant. Usually they would spend nights together as fillies and would snuggle heavily. But something in that invite didn't sound like a filly sleep over. Rainbow Dash knew Fluttershy was a virgin but the confident tone in her voice made her wonder just how long has she been not wanting to be. "What do you want me to do Marry Fluttershy and Adopt you..." That statement rang out in her voice. Why did I say that? I don't love Fluttershy like that do I? Rainbow decided to nod unsure of where the night will take them all she knew was no matter what tonight wasn't about her...it was about two friends saying good bye in the most intimate way ever.
