Desolation

Is Coming

Manhattan was in a war that no one could've prepared for. Buildings were burning like torches in the morning sky. Gunshots roared and echoed in the streets. A group of jets roared over the city, destroying a building. The stone pillar crumbled down to the city below, destroying all in its path. Screams and yells were heard as an explosion went off, scattering any remaining windows.

It was a windy day on the war ground. Dirt and dust blew in the strong winds, blinding soldiers as they charged on the battleground. A group of soldiers slid into cover as a missile roared down the battlefield. It collided into the tank that was behind them, exploding into a large fireball of metal. The soldiers shielded their eyes from the light the large fireball created, hoping that the shrapnel wouldn't impale their bodies.

One of the soldiers who seemed to be the leader pointed upwards. The soldiers nodded and rushed to the visible stairs. They ignored the sound of metal crunching on the pavement and continued their ascent. Once they reached the top floor of the small building, they fanned out. Cars were scattered around the parking lot, their windows shattered under all the violence. The leader was about to say something when the sound of metal scraping through the air came to their attention.

They ducked as a large jet flew overhead, its left wing set ablaze. The F22 slammed through the building in front of them, spiralling out of control. It exploded once it hit the building across from it, creating a large shock wave. They watched in horror as the building started to buckle, shards of glass falling to the battleground. The building stated to fall and collided with the building across from it, making an arch.

The soldiers ignored the new sculpture and perched themselves near the edge of the building. Two red eyes looked at the soldiers from under the arch, the dust and dirt obscuring its identity. Without any indication, the soldiers opened fire, a hail of bullets colliding with the dark figure. The sounds of the creature roaring in pain satisfied the soldiers.

A soldier came in from behind the troopers on the building roof. He held a giant, four missile rocket launcher on his shoulder. He fell to one knee and released the missiles upon the beast. The four missiles shot past the troopers and headed for the creature hidden under the smoke and dust.

The ear piercing roar met their ears as the missiles collided. The roar caused the building that hung over it to give up its fight against gravity. The huge building crumbled over the figure, burring it in stone and metal. The second building soon crumbled over it, sending a wave of dust to meet the faces of the soldiers. They shielded their eyes as the large dust cloud carpeted the area.

Moments passed as all went into a stand still. Even after the spectacle, bullets could be heard in the distance, followed by shouts and soon screams. The soldiers that were on the roof began to cough and hack. They were covered in a layer of white dust, making them look like ghosts. An explosion echoed in the air. The blast blew away some of the dust, slightly clearing their vision.

A loud clash broke the sound barrier. Before they could react, a large metal robot flew past them, colliding with the building across from them. The large building crumbled y the impact, glass and metal falling and burying the robot. They looked over to where the hulking creature came from to be met by a tall, red and blue robot. Its blue eyes glanced over to the troopers, its face covered by a mouth plate.

“Sargent Maguinty,” the robot spoke with a rough but wise voice. “Get out of this area at once.”

“Prime, we’re not leaving you!” the Sargent protested.

“This isn't your fight Sargent, this is ours.” The robot named Prime spoke again. “Now evacuate this area, this is my fight.”

“But Prime-“

“Now Sargent!” The robot got into a combat stance as t heard the faint sound of the rubble moving.

The soldiers reluctantly left. They knew that they couldn't do much, but they wanted to help the robot that fought for their safety.

The rubble started to shake as a large grey arm struck out of the stone, its sharp pointed fingers scratched and chipped. The robotic arm slammed into the ground as it tried pushing up the rest of its body. A large grey body was connected to the arm, a purple insignia on the chest. The head looked like it was dented but what caught their attention was the pure hate and rage that was in the robots red eyes.

The robot pulled the rest of itself from the rubble. Then noticeable feature on the robot was the large black cannon that was attached to its right arm. It smoked out a purple essence that revealed that it was previously used. Its red eyes were locked on the red and blue robot known as Prime. It curled its upper lip, revealing a row of razor sharp teeth.

“You strive to protect these insects Optimus,” its voice was evil with a mix of venom and hatred. “They will be your downfall.”

“Freedom is the right of all sentient beings,” Optimus Prime knew speaking wisdom would not penetrate the robots thick skull.

“Your freedom is flawed,” the robot took a step forward. “I will bring them freedom once I destroy their pathetic race!”

“You will not hurt one more of these creatures Megatron,” Optimus pointed a metallic finger at the robot. “At the end of this fight; one shall stand, one shall fall.”

“GRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!”

The robot known as Megatron’s roar could be heard from the heavens. He charged at the red and blue robot, his sharp metallic fingers curled into fists. Optimus charged at the robot of pure evil, determination in his robotic eyes. Their fists collided with each other, creating a sonic boom that exploded the side of nearby buildings.

They both slid backwards, their metal feet grinding against the concrete floors. Optimus held his fist in pain. The metal was obviously dented by the impact. He looked over to be met by a metal fist to the jaw. He lurked downwards just to be met by an uppercut that cracked his mouth plate. Optimus stumbled backwards. His head was ringing by the impact.

Before Optimus could understand what happened, Megatron charged into the bot’s gut. His jet boosters that were on his legs activated and the two were launched forward by the impact. The two crashed through multiple buildings, creating sizeable holes in the stone columns. They crashed through another building before slamming into the ground.

They both rolled on the surface, cracking the ground with every touch. Optimus got to his hands and knees. His mouth plate weakly slid open, the metal screeching against the side on his helmet. He coughed up some blue liquid, the element splattering on the destroyed ground. He got to his feet and unsheathed his axe, the fiery blade coming to life.

He swung it at the robot that was charging at him. Megatron’s sword clashed against the fiery axe with a loud clang that shook the very foundation beneath them. They held the posed for minutes, both robots using all their strength to overpower the other. Metal could be heard craning and screeching under all the force.

The two soon pushed away from each other. They store at each other for what felt like hours before clashing again. The impact cracked the ground below.

“GRRRAAAAH!”

Optimus pushed away from the robot and charged. The blade scraped the ground until Prime jumped, his axe held over his head. The dark robot quickly sidestepped, avoiding the impact. Optimus was about to yank the axe out of the ground when Megatron struck, the punch launched Optimus off his feet. As quickly as it happened, the robot slammed into a rolling tank. The vehicle exploded on impact, sending the soldiers that guarded it to scatter.

This caused Megatron to laugh.

“You try to protect these…” Megatron gazed at the soldiers. “Stains on this wrenched planet? I will purge this planet and turn it into a new Cybertron! And all who oppose me,”

Megatron pointed his massive cannon at the group of soldiers.

“Will DIE!

Optimus lunged out of the burning wreckage, his robotic body set ablaze.

“YOUR REIGN”

Optimus delivered a hard right blow

“OF TERROR”

Optimus ducked a slash from Megatron and punched the tyrant robot upwards, sending chips of metal and purple liquid in the air.

“ENDS NOW!

Prime’s right hand soon shape shifted into a large silver rifle. He pointed it at the insignia on the dark robot before a blast shot from the metal tube. The shot launched Megatron crashing into a building. Optimus watched as the whole building crumbled, creating a large dust cloud. He shielded his optics from the chips of rock.

A large purple blast passed through the dust. It collided with the red and blue robot’s shoulder, causing it to explode on impact. Shrapnel and fire rained from the robots shoulder, the blue liquid gushing out from multiple circuits and wires. Optimus howled in pain, not noticing the red eyes that glared at him from a distance.

Megatron pounced from the rubble, crashing into Prime’s dazed state. He grabbed the robots face and slammed it into the surface, the ground exploding on impact. Optimus looked at the monster that glared at him, his eyes now a dark shade of purple. He could feel his skull being crushed by the massive hands. The purple liquid started to drip from the hole in Megatron’s chest, soaking the red and blue robot.

“Dark energon flows through my veins Prime! Megatron roared.

Without warning, Prime was thrown in the air. He spun around in the air just to collide with the dark robot with a speed that broke his metal spine. The two were flying higher into the air, Megatron’s jet boosters reaching maximum thrust. The two soon broke past the atmosphere and into space.

“I AM NEAR INVINCIBLE!”

Megatron pointed his blaster at Prime. A large purple beam shot at the robot, blowing of a side of his abdomen. Prime crashed into a satellite that floated in the emptiness, smashing the small metal craft. Prime tried to block but was met by a dark fist to the side of the skull. His mouth plate finally shattered as blue liquid sprayed into the dark void.

“You’re in my domain Prime.” Megatron’s voice was more evil than before. “That is why you lose!”

Optimus said something that was quieter than a whisper.

“What was that?” Megatron growled. “Your voice transmitter must’ve been destroyed.”

“You. Will. Not. Have. THIS. PLANET!

Prime punched the dark robot square in the face, the purple liquid coating his metal fingers. Prime used all his strength in the nothingness to propel himself to Megatron. They both collided with each other and started to inch closer to Earth. Soon, Earth’s gravity pulled the two titans closer to its atmosphere. They ignored the pull and exchanged blows, each fist clashing with metal.

Fire started to erupt around them as they broke into the atmosphere. From Manhattan, they looked like meteors that were falling from space. Megatron howled in pain as his metal was being heated up. Prime wrapped his fingers around the robot’s neck, Megatron doing the same to Prime. The two smashed through the top of the Empire State Building and soon collided with the Earth. The ground exploded in impact, creating an earthquake that could be felt across the world.

Buildings fell from the impact. Smoulder and ash flooded the streets of Manhattan. Cars and trucks were picked up and thrown great distances away from the explosion that erupted in the centre of Manhattan. Sounds of gunshots ceased as soldiers were blasted backwards due to the impact.

In the centre of the large crater were two robots. The robot known as Prime was losing a lot of the blue liquid that was within him. His side was destroyed, wires and blue liquid running down his metal legs. His shoulder was also bleeding furiously. It looked like it was beginning to sever off. Prime held his arm and couched, spitting out more of that blue liquid.

Below him was the dark robot known as Megatron. His body was red, a result of entering the atmosphere. A small pool of purple liquid was around him. It bubbled against the heat and it singed the rocks and dirt. His purple eyes were now back red and began to flicker. Sparks shot out every time he moves. More of the purple blood trickled on the side of his mouth.

“I’m sorry brother.” Prime coughed. He fell to his knees on top of Megatron, more of the blue blood dripping from his mouth.

Megatron’s raspy laugh caught his audio receivers.

“You’ve lost Prime,” Megatron turned his neck to face prime, sparks flying with every turn. “You fought me to protect these sentient beings from my wrath, but failed to protect them from your own. I have made you kill millions by just fighting me in this city. I have made you do what you sworn to not do.”

Megatron’s eyes flickered.

“I have… Made you… Kill… What you swore…. ToProtect…”

Megatron’s eyes soon went black. His body went limp as too much energon was lost. Prime took his words and looked up. He was surrounded by destruction. Destruction that he and his brother have created in their conflict. The battleground was now a wasteland of destroyed buildings and fallen bodies. Even though Megatron has fallen, Optimus knew that regardless:

Megatron won.

* * *

“And so, we have decided that we should leave.”

It’s been a month since the fallout in Manhattan. Prime stood outside The White House. His shoulder was patched by a large piece of metal. His side looked like it was patched pretty well. A large gathering of people stood in front of them, their cameras flashing and reflecting off the hulking robot.

Reports and news recorded the confirmation that the alien robots were leaving, making some speechless. The sound of outcry erupted as people bombarded the robot with questions.

“We are sorry if we created such a conflict in your world,” Prime looked around the crowd. “It would be better if we were never present in your world.”

“What about that robot you fought?” a reporter yelled. “What happened to him?”

“The Autobot’s have put him in a disclosed location,” Prime looked at the reporter. “Megatron is no more, so I assure you he will not be seen again.”

“And what if he comes back?” A reporter protested.

“My brother is dead.”

“And if he isn't?”

The place soon went quiet. Prime knew that his brother was gone. He felt it in the Matrix. He knew in his spark. The tyrant known as Megatron was no more. With no energon within him, there was no way of his return. He couldn’t tell them of his whereabouts for he fears if any surviving Decepticon’s were watching.

Like Soundwave.

“Megatron is dead.” Prime said flatly.

A reporter was about to say something when he held out his metal hand.

“Nor will he ever return. To anyone that listens to this broadcast, I assure you that the tyrant known as Megatron is no more. But the destruction that was caused by me and my brother will not be forgotten. We- I apologize for my brash actions. And so, I feel that we cannot coexist for the Decepticon’s that would go after us in the name of their ruler would destroy this planet like ours. And as such, we will leave your planet to thrive and not be dipped into conflict by our war for peace.”

A space-bridge soon opened next to the robotic alien. He didn't want to transform as it would turn the populous into paranoia. Instead, he walked into the portal, disappearing into the green light. Soon, the portal disappeared, and everything went quiet.

A small metal bird flew overhead. It screeched and flew away, disappearing into the blue sky.

* * *

Years have passed ever since the robotic aliens left Earth. The city known as Manhattan was never repaired and became a historic area. Even when the aliens left their planet, the presence of more sinister robots still hung in the air. Many wars broke out once the army discovered the technology the robots possessed.

Soon, the Earth was ravaged into a war that spiralled out of control. Survivors of this war were small. There were many casualties on the once green earth that was now charred by war. Soon, the entire populous of the human race went extinct. The planet went silent as bodies were all across the surface.

Optimus protected the humans. But he couldn't protect them from themselves.

Decades soon turned into centuries. Earth began to evolve drastically. Vegetation flooded the surface of the planet, covering over cities with massive trees. The vegetation soon began to clean the ozone and the atmosphere from all the pollution the humans brought on the poor ageing planet. Nuclear radiation was now lost, disappearing with no trace of its existence.

Continents soon started to shift as the plates of the planet began to move overtime. The massive pieces of land soon began colliding with each other, creating a new landscape. Millennia’s soon started to pass by as the world evolved into something different.

Animal’s now ruled the once human planet. Some were much bigger than average while others looked to be smaller. The world evolved into something different. Something of which the natives called:

Years later….

Princess Luna flew across the dark night sky with grace. With each pass, she left a trail of stars that decorated the night sky. She always loved flying across the cool night sky for she was the princess of the night. Her dark figure almost blended in with the night sky, making her almost invisible. The wind blew against her dark starry mane, hugging her in a thin sheet of air.

She gazed below at the sleeping town known as Ponyville. Located there was the Elements of Harmony; six ponies that harnessed the powers of Equestria. She remembered the group freeing her from her alter ego Nightmare Moon.

Luna shuttered at the memory. She looked up at the bright moon that hung in the sky. Memories of her being on that rock in the sky began to flood her memory. A thousand years of seclusion on her moon. She was soon out of her trance just to barely collide into a cloud. Pegasus had the ability to stand on these fluffy pieces of the sky like they were solid. But at the same time they could pass by them as if they were normal clouds.

It’s a strange thing magic is, Luna thought. Even her herself, the alicorn princess, doesn't even know the extent of her power. All she knew was Alicorn’s were the strongest magic beings this planet has to offer. But how powerful?

She thought herself as she flew. Luna knew the Elements were also powerful, but they had a limit. But what about Alicorn’s? What was their limit? She gazed up at the moon, flying in place. Luna would have to ask her older sister the limits of their power. She looked at the night sky and smiled in content. The night sky was now filled with her stars.

As she began to fly back to the castle that was built in the side of a mountain, her left ear flinched. She heard a soft sound in the quiet night sky. Luna paused and looked around, listening for the sound. When she heard it again, she quickly turned to the direction of the sound.

Luna was now facing the bright moon in the sky. Her sapphire eyes reflected the moonlight, making them look almost white in colour. She stared at the large satellite, waiting to hear the sound again.

“Must’ve been my imagination…” Luna said to herself.

The night princess began her decent to the castle, ignoring the large moon that watched her in the night sky.

* * *

“Tia, can we ask you something?”

It’s been nearly a day since the weird moon incident. Luna was still unnerving of the whole situation, which her sister frequently asked her if she was OK. The Alicorn princess admitted that she felt different, but didn't want to tell her sister as it would make her worry.

“Yes my dear sister?”

Luna’s sister, the co-monarch to this land, walked down the long white halls of the castle. She was taller than Luna by a head and was as white as snow. Her astral mane blew in an imaginary wind. She gazed at the stained-glass windows that were down the hall.

Each window recalled an even in the Equestrian timeline. From the rule of Discord to the rise of the two monarch’s. Luna winced at the window of her alter self that was being banished to a white sphere in the sky. Celestia looked over her shoulder at her sister, concern on her face.

“Luna?”

“Yes, sorry. We were kind of distracted.”

Luna has been distracted ever since that one day.

Celestia paused in the hall and turned to face her sister. Luna almost walked directly into the sun goddess. She gazed up at her sister, a look of confusion painted on her petite face. Her sister placed a hoof on the small Alicorn’s shoulders, her face reminding Luna of their mother.

“What’s wrong Luna? Ever since Monday you've looked distracted. Did something happen?”

Luna looked at her sister. She tried to think of an excuse but came up with nothing.

“Tia, how powerful are we?”

“What do you mean?”

“Our subjects say that the Elements are the most powerful beings on the planet. But we created them. So how powerful are we?”

Celestia thought for a moment.

“I’ll be honest with you my dear sister, but our power has never been tested to know its limits ever since Discord’s reign. Not even I know how powerful we are.”

“I see…” Luna mumbled to herself.

“Is that what’s been bothering you?”

Luna was silent. She looked down at the marble floor. with a sigh, she said what was really on her mind.

“We wish to go to the moon.”

“The moon?” Celestia looked at her dear sister with confusion

“We know it’s confusing, but we feel like its calling to us.”

Luna shrugged her sister’s hoof off and began to walk around, gazing at the marvellous windows.

“Ever since Monday we've been hearing a faint sound. And every time we think we know where it’s coming from, it disappears. And it only disappears when we face the moon.”

“I understand Luna.”

The princess of the night faced her sister who had a warm smile on her face. Luna expected backlash. She expected hate or an argument to breakout. But her sister only smiled and nodded. A small smile crept on the young Alicorn’s face.

“Thank you sister.”

“You are my sister Luna, I understand if you wish to find your calling. When you wish to depart, call me and I will create the portal. I will notify Twilight Sparkle to take your duties on Equestria while you’re gone. and don’t forget to raise and lower the moon.”

Celestia began to want off, leaving the young Alicorn with a smile on her face.

* * *

It’s been a week since Luna told her sister of her wishes. Although she felt anxious to find the location of the sound on the dry satellite, she was also scared. The seclusion and darkness that went for miles on the surface of the white rock that hung in the sky. She was hesitant to ask her niece to accompany her on her journey but didn't want to drag others into her affair.
The sun was beginning to set on the planet, its orange rays of light turning the sky a beautiful shade of orange. Although Luna was the princess of the night, she adored the effect the Sun made as it began to set on the horizon.

Luna’s horn began to glow a dark azure as she began to raise the moon. She sighed as the moon began its ascent into the sky. The magic around her horn soon began to dissipate. Celestia placed a hoof on her sister’s shoulder. They both watched as the two large entities in the sky began to lower and rise. With a smile, Celestia kissed her sister on the cheek and began to walk off to her room. Her deed was done.

“Sister!”

Celestia turned to face her sister that stood behind her. She sheepishly scratched the marble ground before looking at her older sister with a defiant expression.

“We wish to depart.”

The princess of the sun thought for a moment. She then remembered what her sister said weeks ago and nodded.

The two stood in the large throne room. In the centre was a circle of runes and small crystal spires. Luna was amazed that her sister prepared the Lunar Portal this quickly. The last time Celestia used this was when Luna became Nightmare Moon. She used the Elements last time but they were currently in The Crystal Kingdom due to an urgent matter of discovery in the frozen mountains.

Luna shivered at the memory of herself being the evil that was Nightmare Moon. She was filled with anger and hate, she couldn't control her actions. She sniffled at the memory of Starswirl the Bearded trying to protect her sister. And his descent into madness and soon death.

“Luna,”

The princess of the night looked up to see the runes on the floor beginning to glow. Magic coursed through the magical crystals. They began to glow in the colours of Harmony, channelling the Elements. Soon, the six crystals shot out a white beam into the centre of the circle. They all collided into a small white ball that hung in the air.

A rainbow coloured beam shot up from the centre on the rune circle, colliding with the while ball in the centre. It exploded into a spiral of colours that began to increase in size. The portal soon reached its maximum size. Air could be heard being sucked into the portal and to the airless world known as the moon.

The spiral portal looked like a black hole. Colours in the portal were being sucked into the dark centre. The portal illuminated the white room in a spectacle of colours. It created a low hum as it kept its shape. Luna nodded to her sister who only smiled back.

“We will return within a weeks’ time.” Luna gazed at the portal. “We will contact you through telepathy.”

“I hope you find what you’re looking for.”

“We will be honest sister, but we do not know what we are looking for.” Luna smiled to her older sibling. “But we also wish we find it as well.”

“Good luck, sister.”

Luna nodded and walked through the portal. The multicoloured black hole started to flash as she walked through. By time Luna’s tail disappeared into the dark centre, Celestia’s horn stopped glowing. The portal soon began to shrink in size. The small crystals stopped illuminating the room, causing the portal to dissolve in the night air.

Celestia walked over to one of the windows in the throne room and gazed at the moon. Its white light shone down upon Canterlot and Ponyville, bathing it in a faint light. She thought she could see the portal on the moon disappear, but it was just the twinkle of a star. Celestia frowned as she began to remember the bad memories on the moon.

“Stay safe my sister. And may our mother give you guidance on your trip.”

* * *

The moon was quiet as it usually was. The grey surface was still covered in dust. Craters as small as Ponyville and as large as Equestria itself littered the landscape of the white satellite. Earth could be seen in the distance, the lush greenery and its blue waters looking different from space.

Luna stepped out of the portal and onto the surface. The gravity was drastically different, considering the moon had barely any gravity. Once her form was completely out of the portal, it began to shut behind her. Luna turned around to gaze up at the starry space. She could see the sun off in the distance illuminating the other half of Earth.

The princess of the night sighed and began her trek on the surface. Her walking soon became small bunny hops due to the different gravitational pull. Soon, Luna was soaring on the moon’s surface, picking up dust as she flew low. Luna began to smile as she was flying faster than she usually could. She whizzed past stone spires and other rocks that shot out of the surface, giggling at the mess she was making.

Luna almost forgot how fun it was to fly on the moon. But then she paused. Her smile turned into a frown as she saw a bad memory.

In the distance was a bunch of stone that looked like it was put there in place. She slowly walked over to it, remembering what it was. The stones were made into a makeshift bed which, years ago, Luna slept on. Her eyes focused as she saw something in the zero gravity air.

It was the tears that she shed 1000 years ago.

Luna looked away, suppressing her own tears. She hesitantly began to walk away, her steps more shaky as she walked. She took a step back and flew off, leaving the bad memory behind.

She froze in the air as she heard something. This confirmed her hypothesis as there is no sound on the moon. Her ears twitched around, looking for the sound. She listened for a long moment before the soft sound erupted again. Her head followed the position of her ears and she was soon staring at the direction it came from. Her eyes went wide as she realized where she was staring.

The dark side of the moon.

Luna was used to the cold emptiness that was space, but even while she was on the rocky planet, she feared the dark side of the moon. No pony has ever got to that side, not even Luna. Fear gripped her heart as she starred at the dark part of the moon.

But if that’s where the sound came from, she knew she would have to trek those dangerous waters eventually.

* * *

It’s been nearly a week since Luna has been on the moon. She will admit, she definitely began to miss Canterlot and her warm bed. She was even beginning to miss her stuffed toy she slept with all the time. Although Luna hasn't been gone for long, she wondered what might’ve happened while she was here on the moon, searching for what she heard. Luna has scanned the surface of the moon multiple times.

Except for the dark side.

Every time Luna glanced over to the dark abyss, it reminded her of when Nightmare took over. It reminded her of the cold, dark realm she was placed in; watching in horror as Nightmare killed all that opposed her. Luna held her head as she felt Nightmare’s presence. Fear began to creep on the night princess.

But Luna knew that the soft sound she heard once every day was coming from that part of the moon. She glanced at the dark part of the moon, determination in her sapphire eyes. She started to slowly walk to the edge of the darkness, fear gripping her heart.

And yet, Luna pressed on. She wanted to discover the moons secrets. And she will, even if it means making her feel like her heart is being torn apart.

Luna paused at the edge of the moon and its dark side. She looked at the darkness that flooded this side of the moon. It looked exactly like the moon except with a dark shadow that hung on top of it. Luna felt a small hint of relief, but fear still hung on her shoulders. Luna closed her eyes and galloped in.

She opened her eyes to realize that everything was exactly the same. Fear washed off her as she began her trek. It was Saturday evening so she had to hurry and scan the area. Luna soon went airborne and flew high in the dark abyss. She swivelled her ears to scan for the sound while she flew. It was obviously louder and it didn't just make a short sound. Luna looked down to scan the floor

Only to be met with the evil eyes of Nightmare Moon.

Luna screamed but nothing came out of her mouth. Soon, fear began to drown her as the darkness seemed to be alive. She was screaming the whole time as she flew uncontrollably. Her wings flapped unevenly as she just drifted in the air, quickly descending due to the speed she was flying.

Luna saw the mouth of Nightmare Moon begin to open and hundreds of black tentacles began to fly at her. She screamed, trying to fly away in fear. Her actions were soon in vain as she began to fly faster. Luna looked up just to collide into a stone spire.

The night mare was now spiralling out of control. Blood was flying from her forehead as she crashed into the surface, creating small dust clouds. She scratched across the surface before slamming into a cave. Luna laid on the surface of the moon, unconscious.

* * *

‘Sister, Are you alright?’

Luna shuffled in the dusty ground. Dust began to float in the windless air, drifting into space.

‘Luna!’

The night princess, the younger sister of the two monarchs of Equestria opened her eyes. Her vision was hazy and her head pounded. She slowly tried pulling herself up, but fell back down to the dirt surface. Her vision blurred as she began to close her eyes.

‘Sister, please respond.’

A voice was yelling at her from within her mind. She cracked open on of her eyes to be filled with darkness. Luna tried to speak but nothing came out. Confused, she tried screaming but again; nothing.

‘It’s been a day sister and you haven’t returned. Should I come over?'

A day? Luna thought for a moment before everything began to come back to her. She quickly got up to her hoofs. This was not a bright idea as she felt light-headed. She placed a hoof on her head to be met with a wet feeling. Luna’s horn glowed a faint light as she looked at her hoof.

A red substance stuck to her hoof. It began to float off into the air due to the gravity. She was horrified at the sight.

‘Luna, please.’

Luna’s eyes rose as she heard her sister’s voice. She channelled for the frequency until she felt her sister’s presence.

‘Sister!’

‘Luna! Thank Faust you’re OK!’

Luna smiled as she tamed down her sisters worries.

‘We apologize for our disappearance. We were having fun on the moon that we flew into a stone pillar and passed out.’

Luna heard her sister giggle.

‘Sounds like it would be. Where are you Lu Lu?’

Luna hated the nickname but let it pass. She began to scan her surroundings, her magical light bathing the walls of the cave she flew into. She paused as her eyes set on the wall to her right. Her sapphire eyes turned into pin pricks as she gazed upwards.

‘Luna? Are you there? Luna?’

The night mare couldn't believe what she was looking at.

‘LUNA?’

Her mouth gaped open as she increased the light. The buzzing sound that she’s been hearing was loud but not enough that it drowned out her sister. She said something that her sister couldn't hear.

‘What was that?’

‘We are not alone.’

Luna stood in front of the crouched husk of a large metal body. It had a large hole in its chest that looked like it’s been there for eons. An arm held up the roof of the cave, its large, sharp metallic fingers hanging in the air. But that’s not what gripped Luna the most.

The head of the robot was staring at Luna, its eyes as dark as coal. Its jaw hung open, its rows of teeth reflecting the soft blue light from Luna’s horn. Its face looked sinister for a metallic face. Large metal eyebrow hung over its eyes, the tips bent and cracked. But even though Luna knew the ‘thing’ is dead, Luna still felt scared. Its black eye holes were looking at Luna like it knew of her presence.

Like it was watching her.

* * *

The portal in the throne room soon started to dissipate as Luna stepped out. She fell to her knees once gravity shot her down. The pain in her head increased as she tried getting up. Celestia was there before she could beckon for her. The sun goddess helped up her sister, wrapping her hoof around her neck. She called for the royal guards and told them to beckon a medical pony.

Luna looked at her sister and smiled weakly. She was about to say something when the medical ponies burst into the scene.

‘We’ll talk later.’ Celestia said mentally.

Luna nodded and was soon escorted to her room where she’d bet treated for her wounds.

The sun began to rise over the horizon. Celestia sighed as the magic around her horn disappeared. Luna’s been in her room all night since she’s arrived. Celestia thought of what the night princess said to her from the moon. The fear in her voice made it haunt her even now.

‘We are not alone.’

She shivered hearing it again. With a sigh, Celestia began to walk to her sister’s room. Guards and maids bowed in her presence, which she acknowledged with a nod. She soon approached the night mare’s door and gave it a light knock.

“Come in.”

Celestia smiled hearing her sister’s voice and slowly opened the door. There, lying in the soft dark blue bed was her sister. She had a small white bandage that wrapped around her forehead. She looked over to the door and smiled when she saw her sister.

“Oh sister! We thank you for the hospitality.”

Luna shifted in her bed to get up but was stopped by the sun goddess. She frowned at her sister’s care.

“You’re still hurt from your trip sister; I think you should stay in bed.”

“I'm not a foal, Tia.” Luna pouted.

“But you’re still recovering.”

Celestia closed the large wooden doors behind her as she sat next to her sister.

“Now, let us talk about your trip.”

Luna looked down at her blankets. She knows what she saw was real and that’s what scared her. It physically and mentally scared her. She didn't know what to tell her sister. Luna looked over to her sister to see a concerning expression painted on her white coat. She sighed and began to tell her of her adventure.

She told the sun goddess everything: From her days of searching all the way to her experience on the dark side of the moon. The princess of the sun listened intently, placing a hoof on her sister’s shoulder as she spoke of the experiences with her past self.

The description Luna gave her sent a shiver down her spine. Its head was roughly the size of herself and it had razor sharp teeth. With the combination of how she said it was merged into the dirt and dusty mountain cave, it sounded like it’s been there since the dawn of time. But the dents and scratched on its body as Luna described looked like battle marks and not damage from hitting the moon.

“-And that’s why we wish to bring it here.”

“What?” Celestia was shocked of her sister’s response.

“It obviously looked like it was battle worn so that means it must be… Offline… So we wish to bring it here for study.”

“Luna, you’re saying we should bring an unknown alien to Canterlot?”

“It’s dead Tia! And with its advanced technology, we could copy it and put Equestria into a new age! Better yet, even the world!”

Celestia thought for a moment. Although Luna was right, as she usually was, the sun goddess didn't like the idea of bringing an unknown creature of sorts to Equestria.

“Then I'm coming with you,” This time Luna was shocked.

“What? You can’t!”

“Luna, I'm not letting you go back on your own this time. I'm coming with you, end of story.”

Luna crossed her hooves, pouting like a little baby. Celestia smiled and nuzzled her younger sister. Luna tried to hide her blush but it was too late.

“When you’re fully healed, we will depart. I will leave your niece and my faithful student in charge. We won’t be long.”

“Will she manage?”

The sun mare knew she wouldn't.

“We won’t be long.”

* * *

Three days have passed since Luna’s return. Although she was fine on the day after she returned, medics insist that she stays in bed so they can monitor her over the past couple of days. Once they gave the night princess the green light, Luna bolted out of her room, happy to be free.

Four Alicorn’s stood in the throne room. The sun Goddess and the night princess entered the room to see two Alicorn’s finishing up the runes and crystals on the marble floor. Runes that were painted on the floor were noticeably bigger. There were even larger crystals that floated around the large circle in the room.

The description that Luna gave Celestia meant that the portal must be bigger to bring it to Canterlot. Luna suggested they just fly to the moon and bring it to Canterlot but if the size was correct, it would not go unnoticed by the residents of the city.
The pink Alicorn known as Cadence and the purple Alicorn known as Twilight Sparkle soon started pumping magic into the runes. The sun goddess and the night princess soon added their power into the mix until the large portal opened. The large black hole began sucking in the air in the room, this time with a slightly stronger force. When the portal was complete, the two Alicorn sisters stopped their flow of magic.

“Shining Armor, I want you to get a small squadron of guards to be here when we return.”

The guard at the door saluted the monarch and galloped off into the castle.

“Princess Celestia, where does this portal go?”

“My faithful student: control this portal with Cadence and do not let it shut.”

“But-“

“Please Twilight.”

Twilight Sparkle, Celestia’s student, nodded to the sun monarch. Celestia smiled and turned to her sister. Princess Luna nodded back, determination in her eyes. The two princesses began their walk through the portal, ignoring the sounds of the guards rushing into the throne room. Once they went through, everything went quiet.

* * *

The moon’s surface was as cold as it was before. This wasn't the first time the sun goddess has been in space but it was the first time she’s ever step foot on the moon. She went to speak, but no sound came from her mouth.

‘In space, no one can hear you scream Tia.’

Luna’s humour was always terrible.

‘I almost forgot. It’s been a while since I've been in space.’

‘We have been here many times now.’ Luna paused. ‘Do you hear that?’

The sun god listened in silence before nodding.

‘What is that?’

‘I’ll show you.’

The night princess flew across the white surface. Celestia flew beside her sister. The grazed the surface of the satellite, picking up dirt and dust. Celestia began to see the edge of the light side and the dark side of the moon rapidly approach them. The sun goddess began to slow down in fear but remembered that this is where Luna said she found it. With a sigh, they pressed on.

The two soon entered the dark side of the moon. Luna began to slow down in fear, her eyes darting around for anything that moved. Celestia smiled and her horn began to glow. The radiant energy and magic illuminated their position as they flew, almost creating a bubble of light.

Luna began to bank to the right, her sister still beside her. Celestia gasped as she saw a large mountain up ahead. There was a dark hole on the side of the surface. The two princesses began to slow down as they approached the cave. Fear began to grip onto Luna’s heart as they both walked into the cave.

Celestia’s horn illuminated the large cave. Her expression changed from amazement to shock as she saw the hulking figure that rested within the tall cave.

‘So it’s true…’

‘What is?’

Celestia forgot that the link that they both had also meant that they could hear each other’s thoughts. The sun monarch tried thinking of a way out of it but with no avail. She turned to face her sister and sighed.

‘We sent Twilight and the Elements to investigate a find in the frozen north of Equestria. What they found was something no one could comprehend. It was a large figure, almost like this one. Except this one was a dark blue instead of this grey. They found it frozen in an ice cave. By the looks of it, it seemed it’s been there for eons.’

‘What are you saying?’

‘What I'm saying are these creatures, these metallic titans have been on this planet for over 10 millennia.’

‘What you’re saying…’

‘Yes sister. These are the ancient beings of this planet.’

Luna was dumbfounded by this information.

‘But they do not seem organic. They actually seem… robotic.’

Luna flew over to the hole in the robots chest. Her own horn illuminated as she gazed inside. There was nothing but wires and other assorted technology that have surpassed Equestrian technology ten-fold.

‘We must take it to Equestria for further study my sister.’

‘It would be better off studying it on the moon.’

‘But it would take too much energy. Plus, we would have to create equipment that could make the scientist go into space. It would be better if they had infinite oxygen.’

‘Luna, I don’t think-‘

‘We’ll be close to it at all times!’

“No, I mean I don’t think we can carry that thing.’

* * *

The portal was still wide open. It was now becoming dusk, the bright sun descending on the horizon. The princesses have been on the moon for the whole day. Twilight and Cadence were beginning to be drained of their energy. The captain of the guard had to help by combining his magic with theirs.

The royal guard still stood in front of the entrance of the portal. They were told to be in a defensive stance when the Princess arrived.

The portal began to ripple as the two princesses walked through the portal. They were walking backwards, their horns glowing as bright as they could.

“Princess Celestia! Why are you- Oh my…”

The large head of the massive robot came through the portal. Everyone was staring at the spectacle with shock. The upper torso was now through the portal. The metal scrapped against the floor, scratching the surface by its weight. Gravity soon struck as the creature was only halfway through.

The princesses began to use as much magic as they could to pull the heavy figure through the portal. Once it was completely through, the portal closed. Now that it was out in the light, the princesses could get a better look at it.

It had large spikey shoulder pads that looked like they were battle damaged. Its chest was made up of a lot of sharp edges, most of which were bent in angles. It had long, bony metal fingers that were sharp at the edges. Its feet were two pronged. On its right arm was a large silver and black cylinder that looked like an advanced version of Equestria’s cannons.

Gravity caused its eyes to close. Its many rows of teeth were now hidden under its mouth. Luna took the liberty to close it so it wouldn't make the ponies fear it.

Even if they already did.

“Princess Celestia… What in Equestria is that?” The menacing robot brought fear into the room.

“That’s what we’re trying to find out.”

It has been a month since the arrival of the robotic husk. Due to its heavy weight, the princesses decided to keep the creature in the throne room. This meant that no pony was allowed in the throne room unless they already knew of the creature presence. Even so, Luna still hated it just lying there in the corner of the room being studied by ponies.

The scientist began calling the creature N.B.E 01 which stood for Non Biological Extraterrestrial. Although Celestia insist that this creature was of origin from Earth, the night princess wasn't so sure. And neither was young Twilight Sparkle.

“Princess Celestia. Not to be rude, but there’s no way that we ponies evolved from that mechanical bipedal eons ago.”

Sighing in defeat, the creature was named N.B.E 01. The one that was somewhere in the north was named N.B.E 02.

Scientist wanted to dissect the mechanical creature, but nothing could penetrate its plating. Luna realized this when she was freeing the titan on the moon. Although it was a bad idea, the night princess thought it would be easier to divide the titan into pieces for easy transport. But no one knew if the robot was even sentient.

“Princesses!”

Luna was sent out of her trance by the outburst from Cadence. She was galloping into the room, her mane a mess. A metal chest was held in her magical grip. She slowed to a stop as she approached the two sisters and the protégé Twilight Sparkle.

“What is it?”

The princess of love placed the metal chest on the ground. She was breathing heavily due to all the running.

“These crystals have been growing near the Crystal Kingdom ever since the arrival of the titan. Maybe they are linked.”

“Linked?”

Cadence opened the metal chest to reveal a large purple crystal encased in a glass capsule. Its glow illuminated the white room into a hue of purple.
“The radiation that comes from these has been killing and life that grew near it. These are toxic and yet they've been growing non-stop.”

“Twilight will investigate the crystals and their properties to see if we can create a cure for these dark crystals.”

Twilight nodded to her monarch and smiled at her former babysitter. The two exited the throne room with smiled on their faces. Luna soon got up from her chair, covering her mouth with a hoof as she yawned.

“We’ll be going to bed dear sister.”

Celestia nodded and watched her sister depart. The sun goddess glanced to the hulking titan in the corner. She watched as a Pegasus in a white cat scanned the beast. Celestia narrowed her eyes at the metal robot.

“What secrets do you hold?”

* * *

Twilight Sparkle sat at the desk in her room. She’s been up all night trying to decipher the dark crystal without poisoning herself. She knew that a strong arcane shield could block the radiation but breaking it was a completely different story. The crystal was almost as tough as the plating on the alien.

Twilight thought for a moment. She put a spell on herself that put a veil of magic over her as she opened the metal box. The purple hue pained the room. She placed it on her desk and began to focus, closing her eyes. Her eyes were a blank white when they opened. Twilight soon began channelling a small beam of magic on the crystal. The purple rock began to glow even brighter, almost blinding the mare.

The glow began to dissipate. Twilight sighed in frustration as the crystal looked unharmed. She gently put the crystal back into the metal chest and groaned. The magic veil around her soon disappeared.

Twilight began to cough, her throat burning. She fell out of her chair and onto the wooden floor. Her whole body began to feel weak like it was being drained of all her mana. She tried to get up but fell straight down to the ground. Twilight was reduced from an Alicorn to a foal in a matter of minutes.

Twilight was losing her vision. Her eyes tried to focus as she crawled against the wooden floor. She froze in her spot as a purple hue glowed in front of her. She tried desperately to focus, even using her magic to give her vision. Hey eyes went wide as she saw what sat in front of her, inches away from her muzzle.

It was a shard of the crystal.

The princess of magic tried desperately to create a veil of magic over here. She felt weak and her horn couldn’t activate. Twilight had no choice but to resort to speaking.

“Someone…. Help… Please…”

* * *

The two sisters smiled at each other as they began the dawn of a new day. Luna’s moon began to descend on the horizon while Celestia’s sun rose. They smiled as they sat and watched the massive fireball in the sky begin to rise over the land. The sun goddess yawned, just waking up from her slumber. Luna caught the yawn bug and gasped in the air. She lightly punched her sister in the shoulder which made Celestia laugh.

Celestia’s ear flickered as she heard a faint cry. Without warning, the sun goddess flew out of the room, ignoring the cries of her sister.

She flew past a group of guards and stopped at a large wooden door. She was about to knock on the door when she felt a dark presence. Her mind began to swim as she thought of many horrible things that could be behind this door. With a grunt, the monarch kicked the door open. Her eyes went wide at the scene in front of here.

Twilight was sprawled on the ground, obviously passed out. She tried to move over to her apprentice when she was hit by a large wave of pain. The monarch fell to her knees, beginning to feel weak like something was draining her of her power. She forcibly pushed herself up onto her hooves. Her legs shook as they held up the Alicorn’s weight. What was this black magic?

Celestia looked over to her apprentice to see a small shard of the purple crystal sitting infront of her. Her eyes turned into pin pricks as she witnessed firsthand the power of this dark crystal. It was like it was draining her of her power and containing it within. The monarch called for her guards, but realized they might suffer the same fate.

Suddenly, a dark blue hue of magic engulfed Celestia and Twilight. The sun monarch looked over her shoulder to see Luna covered in a veil of magic. She picked up the small shard and placed it within a glass vial. She then contained that within a metal box.

With a sigh, the night mare released her magic on the two. Celestia began to get up, but Twilight stayed lying on the ground.

“Too much radiation,” Luna gave the purple Alicorn a sorrowful frown.

A group of medical ponies came into the scene. They pulled the unconscious body of Twilight onto a stretcher and began their walk to the medical wing. Celestia watched as the ponies turned down the corner.

“I should’ve come here faster.”

“You did what you could.”

Celestia stomped her hoof on the ground.

“She was in danger and I came too late!”

“Tia, Twilight is a strong young mare. She’ll be alright.”

“And what if she isn’t?”

The room went silent. Without saying anymore, Celestia stormed off after the medical ponies.

“Tia!”

“Lock that crystal in the Vault. I don’t want to see that thing ever again.”

The sun goddess galloped off after the medical ponies. She turned around the corner and disappeared. Luna sighed heavily. She understood how much her sister cared for Twilight and knew that she will be worrying about her well-being.
The night princess began to return to the throne room, the metal box and chest in her magical grip. The guards that stood at the large golden doors pushed them wide open on her arrival. She nodded to the two and walked into the massive room.
With the stress of today, the night princess ignored the robotic alien in the corner and began to walk to the vault door.

“What the hay?”

“Did its eyes just flicker?”

Luna looked over her shoulder to see a scientist mare backing away from the alien robot. She was about to ask when the metal boxes began to shake in her magical grip Luna dropped them in fear, backing away slowly. The metal chest fell with a clang. Its broke open, revealing the large crystal inside. Luna quickly put a magical veil over the scientist, shielding them from the radiation.

A soft humming could be heard coming from the dark crystal. Without warning, the crystal rooted itself within the ground, breaking through the marble flooring. Luna watched as multiple purple spires began to erupt from the crystal. Soon, the dark crystal began breaking through the marble flooring, jetting into the air.

“EVACUATE THE THRONE ROOM!”

Scientist and guards scrambled out of the room as more crystals grew. The floor in the throne room began to crack, a soft purple light glowing from the ground. Luna ushered the last of the occupants of the room before shutting the door with her magic. Cadence soon rushed to the scene.

“Aunty Luna, what’s going on?”

“The crystal began to grow into the castle. We may need to evacuate the city to avoid its radiation.”

A loud screeching sound echoed from within the room. The hall was soon purged into silence as the sound of bending metal caught their attention. Everyone was staring at the door, horror filled in their eyes. Luna ushered the scientist to run, pointing down the hall.

A loud bang shattered all the windows in the castle. The large golden doors were shot off its hinges by a large purple ray. The door was launched across the hall, slamming into one of the walls. Smoke covered where the door once was. But what made them almost scream were the two purple eyes that glowed through the smoke. It eventually cleared to reveal what they feared.

The beast was alive.

No one said anything. No one moved an inch. The metal titan gazed at the ponies, a confused expression on his face. He has never seen these creatures in his entire life. In fact, he doesn't even remember what happened. The beast held his head in his right hand. Before he knew it, one of the creatures was right in front of him. He was surprised of their size.

“Are you OK? You seemed hurt.”

Cadence was doing what not even Luna dared to do. She was trying to socialize with the creature.

“My head…”

And it responded!

“Your technology was too advanced for us so we couldn't repair your wounds.”

“…. Wounds?”

The beast gazed down to see the multiple scratched and dents on its metal form. His eyes locked on the large hole in his chest.

Soon, memories began to flood into the metal titan: Gladiatorial battles on Cybertron, a certain bots inquiry, the bots betrayal, the war, loses, the battle for earth. All these memories began to return to him. His eyes began to furrow as his lips curled, revealing his rows of teeth. He began to remember how he was defeated by his brother.

“Optimusss…”

“What? Is that your name?”

The titan glared at Cadence with pure rage. Before she could react, the titan backhand slapped the alicorn out of the air, the hit breaking the sound barrier. Cadence broke through the marble wall and crashed into the city of Canterlot.

“I… am the Dominator. I… am the Destroyer. I am MEGATRON!

* * *

A crowd of ponies surrounded the princess that was half buried in the streets of Canterlot. The princess of love was in a small crater, chunks of dirt and cobblestone littered around the streets. Cadence tried to move but everything was screaming at her. Her head was throbbing due to the ringing in her ears.

Her ears began to flicker as they heard the hoof steps of armoured ponies. Royal guards began to surround the mare, causing the city folk to back away.

“Cadence!”

Shining Armor ran over to his wife’s side. He winced as he saw her broken and mingled state.

“Shining…”

“Who did this to you? Sweet Celestia someone call for a doctor!”

“The… The alien…”

“Forget that, let’s get you out of here. YOU, get a bucking doctor!”

“No! Shiny… The alien…”

“What about it?”

“It’s alive…”

Shining Armor’s eyes began to get wide.

“Troopers! We need soldiers in the Castle now! All of you GO! The rest of you, evacuate the city!”

The side of the castle erupted as a small dark Alicorn was launched through the marble wall. She flew over the city, blood spraying from her muzzle. The mare soon crashed into the train station nearby in a large fiery explosion. Screams could be heard from all across Canterlot once they saw the explosion.

The small hole in the wall soon exploded, sending pieces of the marble building down below to the city. A tall, metallic figure stood at the massive hole, its purple eyes gazing down on the marvellous city.

“PRIME! I KNOW YOU’RE OUT THERE! IF YOU DO NOT CARE FOR THIS RACE, THEN WATCH ME MASSACRE THEM IN COLD BLOOD!”

Megatron jumped from the hole in the castle. He slammed into the cobblestone floor, the ground cracking under the robots weight. He watched as ponies screamed for their lives, running in fear from the gigantic titan.

“And fire!

Megatron spun around just to be hit by a volley of magical bolts. Guards perched themselves from the hole in the castle and began shooting magic at the titan. Megatron roared in pain as the bullets hailed him. From around the corner on the streets, more guards surrounded him. They began making magical constructs of chains and shackles. They soon began chaining Megatron’s arms to the ground.

The titan yelled as he was being chained to the ground like an animal. Smoke began to form as the magic began to become superheated. Soon, the whole area was covered in smoke, masking the guards and Megatron in a thick haze of smoke. The magical constructs were the only thing visible.

And the purple eyes of the titan.

Megatron yanked his arm upwards, breaking the magical chains. He pointed his cannon at the castle and fired. A huge purple explosion erupted, the screams of guards masked by the explosion. Guards that were in the smoke began to fire at where they thought the titan was. Multiple colours of magic were being shot across the street.

The sound of metal sliding against metal echoed in the dark air. The metal titan swiped his sword across the surface of the street, slicing through guards like paper. He spun around and fired a shot at the rest of the guards behind him, blood and dirt splattering on his metallic body.

The smoke started to dissipate around the titan, showing his blood splattered body. He glared down the street to see a large armada of the royal guard.

“FIRE!”

“GRRRRAAAAAHHHHH!”

Megatron charged at the armada, ignoring the magical bolts that bounced off his chest. He slashed his sword across the street, slicing through a handful of guards. He grabbed one of the troops and tossed him into the distance, his tiny body disappearing into the blue sky. Megatron roared as he impaled one of the airborne guards with his sword.

A large blue bean shot at the robots face. Megatron roared in agony, clenching his face. Shining Armour stood atop a building, a defiant smile on his face. But his expression soon changed as Megatron removed his metallic hand. His face was black and burnt due to the impact. He looked at Shining Armour and snarled. But that’s now what scared him the most.

It was the pure hate that was in Megatron’s optics.

Suddenly, a dark blur flew past the titan. Megatron watched as the blur took Shining and flew off, disappearing over the horizon. The metallic robot roared and fired off shots of purple plasma at the night princess. Luna barely dodged the massive bolts of energy as she flew in the warm morning air.

Megatron soon stopped his blasts. He watched as the night princess began to descend over the town in the far distance. His heavy metal feet crumbled the cobblestone streets as he began to walk. He ignored the many ponies that were fleeing from his presence. He was expecting Optimus to show up at any moment now, but the Autobot never showed.

“OPTIMUUUUUSSS!!!!”

Megatron’s voice shattered all the windows within a large radius. His metal eyebrow arched upward as he heard a loud boom
The titan turned around to be met with a powerful force. A white blur slammed into the titan chest, pushing him backwards. The robots feet dug into the ground, desperately trying to slow down the force. His legs were smashing through houses and buildings like they were made of sand. Eventually, the two slowed to a stop.

Celestia opened her eyes to see that they were frozen. She flew up to the robots face, hate and confusion on her face. The monster glared back, his purple eyes burning into hers.

“I am princess Celestia, Co-ruler of Equestria. What is your reasoning to hurt my subjects?”

A smile crept onto Megatron’s face.

“I’m looking for someone. He’s blue and red. Optimus Prime.”

“We’ve found someone like you in the north but it was all blue.”

“Soundwave…”

“But there is no one by the name of Optimus Prime on this planet.”

Megatron smiled in confirmation, his rows of teeth making Celestia unnerving.

“Then this planet is mine for the taking.”

“What?”

Celestia was now in a combat stance.

“You see my dear; your planet is a goldmine for raw Energon. With this, I could not only rule this planet, but rebuild Cybertron. And with Optimus Prime gone, nothing can stop me.”

“I will not let you hurt my subjects!”

“I wasn't asking.”

* * *

Luna flapped her wings as she landed in the streets of Ponyville. The royal guard captain walked off the night princess, visibly shaken. Ponies were shocked to see royalty land in their peaceful town. They all bowed before the princess, which Luna ignored.

Shining Armour nodded to the princess, remembering what they discussed. He began to look for any guards that were stationed in Ponyville, rallying them up like a herd.

“Everypony,” She used her Canterlot voice. “We request you all to evacuate your town! This is not a drill!”

“Princess Luna! What’s going on?”

The night princess turned to see five mares galloping to her position. She knew who these ponies were. They were the Elements of Harmony. They quickly bowed before their faces were filled with worry. Luna didn’t want to create a panic so she went into their minds to speak.

‘There is an urgent matter in Canterlot.’

‘Urgent? How-‘

“Ooo! How do you do the talking in our heads but not talking outside! This is super-duper wicked cool!”

“Pinkie!” The one named Applejack sighed. ‘Continue.’

‘You know the robot you found in the north?’

“Y-Yeah. That thing was s-scary.’

‘I agree with Fluttershy. That ‘thing’ was very uncouth.’

‘Well… We found another on the moon.’

Their expressions sold what Luna feared.

‘So you want us to go to the moon to bring it? Sound super cool!’

‘No Rainbow Dash, we've already brought it to Canterlot months ago.’

‘So what’s the issue?’

Their conversation was cut as the sky turned a shade of purple. They all brought their attention to Canterlot to see a large purple beam shoot upwards. The beam broke the sound barrier three times, creating three thin rings of clouds around the purple laser. Everypony was looking at the purple ray, horror filled in their eyes.

“It’s alive.”

* * *

“FIRE!”

Royal guards were unloading their magic on the giant titan. They just witnessed their princess be shot into the stratosphere and they will not let that go in vain. The robot was blocking any of the magical shots from his face, wincing every time a bolt hit his chest.

His sword shot out of its holster below his cannon.

“GRRRRAAAAAAHHHHH!”

Megatron rushed into the guards, slashing and swinging his sword with grace. He was the gladiator of the pits and he was not going to be defeated by these creatures.

He roared as he fired many plasma bolts at the guards, blowing them up in a fiery death ball of purple fire. No mercy was held for the countless houses that were being incinerated by the massive blasts. Smoke was beginning to develop over the city as everything began to burn. Megatron showed no mercy.

Suddenly, a dark blur shot through the clouds of smoke. Luna saw that the place was burning in a dark purple, making the sky in Canterlot a dark purple in color she watched as ponies galloped out of their burning houses, their bodies on fire. Then, she looked forward and saw it.

Megatron stood in the middle of the burning city, an evil grin that could rival even Sombra himself. His slick metal reflected the purple flames, making him look even more menacing. The night goddess shot to Megatron and back breaking speeds. A loud explosion went off behind her, indicating she broke the sound barrier.

The titan looked to where the sound came from just to get a hard uppercut in his lower jaw. He stumbled backwards to get a hard right hook. Purple liquid was spat out of the titan’s mouth as got hit with another uppercut. Before the titan could process what happened, Luna’s horn began to glow. Her eyes went pure white as she channelled a spell.

Soon, a massive ray of magic erupted from the night mare’s horn. It collided with the beast chest, launching him backwards. Megatron crashed into the side on the mountain. A seismic rumble could be felt for miles as the titan slammed into the mountain. Luna smiled in satisfaction. She won.

Or so she thought.

A ray of plasma shot though the smoke, colliding with the princess. Luna was shot backwards, her fur being singed by the heated plasma. Megatron jumped out of the dust cloud and grabbed Luna in mid-air. They both hung in the air for seconds before the titan slammed his fist in the ground, the princess within.

The shockwave ruptured the cobblestone floor, sending rocks and dirt flying around the burning city. Megatron tossed the princess in the air. Even though she reinforced her bones and her flesh with magic, she still felt the pain. She tried to fly away when a hulking metal fist slammed her back down into the earth. The titan soon stomped on the night princess once.

Twice.

Three times.

Megatron roared into the air. His roar could be heard even from Ponyville and beyond. He pointed his massive cannon at the unconscious alicorn. It began to hum to life as a purple glow illuminated the princess on the destroyed ground.

“NO!”

Megatron looked at the destroyed castle to see a purple mare fly straight into him. The titan stumbled backwards, not losing his footing. Twilight was about to fire a ray of magic when the titan blasted her back into the castle and straight into the mountain. He aimed his cannon right at the purple alicorn. His evil smile was still painted on his face. A large blast shot out of the cylinder and collided with the alicorn.

* * *

Princess Celestia drifted in the dark abyss known as space. Everything was in pain. Her mane was scorched in edges, making it look like she just walked through a fire pit. Her sun began to radiate onto its goddess, desperately giving her strength.

“AAAAAAHHHHHH!”

Celestia’s eyes shot open. Her once magenta eyes were now red with rage. She recognized that voice from none other than her apprentice Twilight Sparkle. Her wings stretched out as she shot back to Canterlot.

* * *

Megatron looked at the gaping hole that he created with his cannon. He shot the alicorn straight through the mountain and to whatever lies on the other side. He began to march through the burning city when a loud explosion went off in the air. He looked up to see the alicorn he shot into space flying at him, rage in her eyes.

Celestia flew past the robot and slammed into the ground behind its metal feet. She saw the unconscious body of her sister and roared, flying upwards with a force that shattered the ground below her. The mare’s hooves dug into the robots chest as she pushed upwards. The city then witnessed a spectacle no one dreamed of happening.

Princess Celestia began to lift the titan.

Fillies and colts watched from Ponyville as they saw the titan being lifted into the air by their sun goddess. Celestia roared in agony as she used all her strength to push the titan into the air. They soon began to break into the atmosphere.

Megatron began yelling as he was being picked up by the tiny alicorn. The sun goddess ignored his yells as rage took over her form. They soon broke through the atmosphere and into the nothingness that was space.

But Celestia wasn’t done. She began flying the metal being to which it came.

The moon.

Megatron and Celestia were both yelling as they entered the thin atmosphere of the moon. The two soon slammed into the surface, creating a huge explosion of dust and rocks. The dust cleared to reveal a massive crater within the surface of the moon.

Celestia stood on the chest of the titan, breathing heavily. She used all of her strength to carry the beast to the moon to avoid damage in Canterlot; Even though it’s already been done. She flipped away some of her mane that was hanging in front of her face to get a good look at the fallen titan.

Celestia was launched across the moon by a massive fist. She tumbled on the surface, crashing through rocks like they weren't even there. She soon dug her hooves into the white ground to slow herself down into a stop. She looked to where the massive crater was to see the thing she feared.

The massive being was getting up.

The sin goddess fires a beam of magic at the being, hopefully to keep it down on the ground. The titan jumped over the being, the light from the magic reflecting off its metal body. The jet thrusters on Megatron’s back activated as he slammed his fist into the alicorn, creating a massive crater under the metal fist.

The titan lifted his fist to punch again but was shot by a ray of magic from the sun goddess. Megatron stumbled backwards, holding his face as this was the second time he’s been shot there.

Celestia flew out of the crater and shot at the metal being just to be swatted away like a fly. She flew across the wasteland that was the surface of the moon, eventually grinding against the surface. She rolled up into the air, her eyes and horn a blinding white. The sun god’s horn soon erupted into a massive ray of magic that shot across the moon, parting the dust under it.

Megatron followed it up with a massive blast from his cannon, the purple ray glowing brighter than usual. It shot across the moon surface, burning the rocky ground.

The two blasts collided with each other, creating a huge shock wave that shook the very moon itself. The light that the two created once they collided could be seen from Earth, causing all the ponies to look in shock. The explosion created a large crack on the moon that stretched for miles.

The shockwave launched Celestia and Megatron backwards. The two screeched across the moon’s surface, creating small trenches on the moon. Dust floated on the moon, creating a thick cloud that covered the battleground.

Celestia coughed in pain. She used as much magic she could create that her whole body began to feel weak. She looked up to see nothing but the thick cloud that surrounded her. She needed the sun’s rays to charge her up. The sun goddess began limping away. She was too weak to fly so she had to find a way out of the dust cloud.

She failed to realize the two purple eyes that glared at her from behind.

Megatron soon grabbed the alicorn from the ground. He began running across the surface of the moon, slamming the sun goddess against tall pillars and mountains.

“You fail to realize organic! I have fought in the gladiatorial arenas of Kaon!”

Megatron slammed the mare into the ground, the force clearing the cloud around them.

“I am unstoppable with dark Energon infused in my veins!”

The titan began punching the alicorn into the ground, each punch sending the alicorn deeper and deeper into the moon.

“I!”

Punch.

“AM!

Punch.

“MEGATRON!”

* * *

Luna began to awaken from her unconscious state. Her astral mane covered her face, which she brushed away. She looked around just to gasp in horror.

The once marvelous city of Canterlot looked like ruins. Buildings were burnt to the ground or completely destroyed. She got up to her hooves to look around. City folk were being escorted out of the city by carriages and other forms of transport. Guards directed the ponies out of the city. Some were bruised while others were covered in bandages.

A large hole was in the wall of the mountain Canterlot was built it. The cool night’s air showed still burning embers around the perfectly circular hole in the mountain. She looked around for a guard and beckoned it over.

“Guard! What happened here?” Luna pointed at the hole.

“Twilight Sparkle tried to protect you so she attacked the being. That’s what happened.”

“Is she…”

“Very badly wounded. It took us a while to find her. Princess, without her, the Elements are useless.”

Luna thought for a moment.

“Your sister arrived back too.”

“Where’s my sister? And the beast?”

The guard pointed at the bright moon that shone in the sky. Luna went wide eyed at the realization of where her sister was. The night princess soon shot up into the air, flying directly to the moon. She ignored the protests of the guard as he didn’t know the moons light gave her strength to fly the distance.

Her body soon began to turn into a dark bullet as she flew as fast as she could, breaking the sound barrier twice. No one saw the princess in the starry sky as she jet for the moon. Luna slowed down as she approached the moon. Her jaw dropped as she saw the scene in front of here.

Massive craters littered the moon’s surface. A large crack ran across the moon, making her feel unnerving. Two lines went to the middle of the crack, indicating where the two shot from. The moon looked more destroyed than usual. The princess of the night flew across the surface, surveying the area.

Luna gracefully landed on the surface. She listened for a moment. Her ears swivelled to the sound of metal sliding against metal. She looked down the horizon to see the metal alien standing in a massive crater. Its cannon arm was held high, a metallic sword reflecting the sun. Luna gasped and took a step back. She soon shot over to the robot, parting the dust below.

Megatron looked over to his right just to get shot backwards by the night alicorn. His massive feet dug into the surface as he slowed the impact down. Luna looked up at the huge robotic being just to get a large fist in the face. She was slammed into the ground, the stony floor erupting under the power.

Luna quickly flew out of the crater before the titan could fire his massive cannon. She flew upwards, her horn glowing and leaving a streak of blue. With a loud roar, she fired a massive ray of magic that shot the titan off his feet. The titan was bouncing on the surface on the moon. His claws soon dug into the ground as he slowed down. Megatron looked up at the alicorn, annoyance and hate on his face.

The alicorn was about to charge up another assault when a massive purple beam shot her out of the air. The princess was slammed straight into the side of a small mountain, her body at least an inch into the thick stone. She looked up to be met with a massive metal fist that punched her straight through the mountain.

Megatron grabbed the mare out of the air and slammed her into the ground. He began grinding the princess against the surface, creating a large trench on the moon. His hand soon raised his arm as his sword unsheathed, its blade reflecting the light.

Luna quickly fired a ray of magic at the robot, stunning him for a second. She flew out of the way, ignoring his roars of rage. She turned around to quickly make a large shield construct out of magic as his sword clashed. The force shattered the shield with ease, launching Luna into the distance.

The mare flew across the surface, her head beginning to hurt. This being was too strong. Its power was unmatched in every way.

Luna grinded across the surface of the moon, digging her hooves into the ground until she stopped. She looked up to see the titan running at her, pure rage in its purple eyes. The night mare quickly created a large shield. The titan’s sword crashed through the construct, shattering it with ease. She quickly made another as it tried to swing again. That also broke under the force.

Megatron slapped the mare with his sword. The force launched Luna up into the sky, breaking through the moon’s thin atmosphere. She was dazed until a massive purple beam collided with her, pushing her further into space.

‘We were supposed to be the strongest force on our planet.’

A large metal fist collided with the alicorn, launching her closer to Earth.

‘We were supposed to be immortal.’

Another punch caused Luna to enter the atmosphere.

‘So why does this hurt!?’

Megatron grabbed the mare as they began to plunge to the Earth’s surface. His fist began to turn red as they burned through the atmosphere. Luna was screaming in pain, her fur being burned and her skin being singed.

‘WHY CAN’T I DEFEAT HIM!?’

Ponies looked up into the sky and watched in horror as the two were engulfed in flames. They crashed through the top of the mountain of Canterlot. The fiery ball flew over the city and began to get closer to Ponyville. Ponies began to scream in terror as they ran, getting as far away as they could.

The two soon slammed into the earth, creating an explosion that mirrored the one eons ago. Dirt and wood flew into the air as Ponyville was destroyed by the impact. The winds blew down trees in the Everfree Forest and in Whitetail Woods. Ponies were blown away by the massive shock wave.

The dust and dirt soon cleared to reveal a giant crater that went 50 feet into the ground. In the center was what the ponies feared.

Megatron stood over the body of the princess of the night, his whole body a burning red. The heat that radiated from him burned any plants in the large crater. Luna was right under him, her body a foot under. Blood has formed around her burnt body. Her fur was scorched and burned and her mane lost its astral form.

Luna glanced to the side to see the gathering on ponies on the edge of the crater. They stood and watched, tears in their eyes. She looked up to see the titan aiming his large cannon at the Alicorn. She knew it was the end. He knew it was the end.

Everypony knew.

This was the end.

‘No.’

Megatron’s cannon began to glow, the purple light bathing over Luna.

‘No!’

A hum could be heard coming from the cannon.

‘NO!’

A dark ray of magic shot from Luna’s horn, the bean infused with astral stars. It shot straight into the cannon causing the weapon to do what Everypony thought was impossible.

It exploded.

Megatron screamed in pain as the cannon exploded in a shower of purple fire and metal. He stumbled backwards, holding his scorched arm that now had no weapon. He looked through the smoke cloud to see a sight no pony has ever seen.
The once damaged alicorn now floated in front to f his face. Her wings were much larger and were stretched across the starry sky. a second pair made of stars grew behind her original. Her astral mane was now longer, filling his field of vision with stars. Her damaged fur was healed, looking like nothing happened. Two sapphire eyes glared at the titan, a fury of which no pony has ever seen.

“I AM PRINCESS LUNA, CO RULER OF EQUESTRIA AND GODDESS OF THE MOON.”

Megatron blinked.

“FOR YOUR CRIMES AGAINST MY PONIES, I SENTENCE YOU TO-“

The titan punched the astral alicorn across the crater. She soon crashed straight into the mountain of which Canterlot sat on.

“I am now the king of this pathetic planet.”

His sword unsheathed from under his gauntlet.

“And I will make all of them suffer. Starting with you!

A dark blue blur shot from the mountain. It left a trail of astral stars as it slammed into the metal titan. They were both launched over the Everfree forest and away from Ponyville. They flew for miles until they crashed into the runs of old Canterlot. The old structure crumbled once they slammed into it, the structure already weak from the blast in Ponyville.

Megatron swung his sword down on the alicorn. Luna quickly generated an astral shield that blocked the force of the blade. She flew upwards and uppercut the massive bot. Bits of metal and purple liquid sprayed in the air, to Megaton’s surprise. He tried to swing his sword at the alicorn in the air.

Who caught the blade?

The titan couldn’t believe his optics. Luna’s burning blue eyes looked at the shocked bot before she shot a ray of magic at the hilt of the blade.

And shattered the metal.

Before Megatron could reach, Luna rammed into his face. Pieces of metal and teeth flew as he was shot backwards. He grinded against the found of the Everfree Forest, destroying tree’s in his wake. He looked up to be punched in the side of his face, the force crumpling and bending metal. His right eyebrow went flying in the air as he fell to his hands and knees.

“How could this be? I’m infused with Dark Energon. I should be unstoppable!”

“FOR YOUR DESOLATION AGAINST MY PONIES, I SENTENCE YOU TO DEATH!”

“NOOOOO!”

A large beam of magic shot from Luna’s horn, the magic causing her eyes to glow a bright white. All the stars in her mane began to glow as the bean shot out. The ray penetrated the back of Megatron, ripping and shredding through his impenetrable metal shell. The bean passed through his chest and shot into the ground, rupturing the Earth’s dirt floor.

The beam soon began to dissipate. Luna’s eyes and astral form began to disappear. She looked down to see a large gaping hole in the back of the titan. It shook before falling over. Embers could be seen within the husk of the robot, wired and other sorts of insides being destroyed by the beam. the forest under the robot was charred and burned.

Luna flapped her wings as she floated there. The night alicorn felt weak, using an amount of magic that no unicorn has ever recorded. She had finally discovered the power in which an alicorn possesses within. With a sigh, the night princess gazed at the landscape.

And then she fell.
