Time flew quickly as storm settled into his new job as the captain of the lunar guard. He has even managed to earn the trust of all the other ponies save shadow. Who wasn't so distant and untrusting but she still watched storm when she thought he couldn't see her. It has gone from late spring to mid fall and to storms relief he has had no more strange memory's during that time. Now he had more important things on his mind like the up coming nightmare night. And it was with the upcoming festivity's in mind that he payed a visit to the smith to have his armor altered just a little. Especially since he had offered to help Luna that night. As storm discussed the altercations with the royal smith a all to familiar scene was unfolding in a far away cave.
In the dimly lit cave chrysalis was drawing many elaborate circles and glyphs across the caverns floor. Satisfied she dropped her chalk and turned to one of many changelings behind her and said.
"Under no circumstances am I to be disturbed this will require all my concentration." With that said chrysalis turned and made for the center of the elaborate drawing thinking to herself. nightmare night is two days away that gives me time to recall a true nightmare from where she was cast. And seeing as I have returned her she will be in my debt and will have no choice but to aid me in my quest for vengeance. Those fools wont know what hit them I cant wait to see the look on celestia's face when I have defeated them. As she neared the center of the drawings chrysalis's horn and eyes began to glow as she sat and began to chant in a language thought long dead in equestria. For the rest of that day, the fallowing night, and the next morning chrysalis chanted completely oblivious to the world around her. As the day drew to its end the chanting finally ceased and chrysalis stared at the space before her for a long while before letting out a frustrated sigh. Mumbling to herself chrysalis tried to stand but found she couldn't she was then surprised to find a strange dark blue orb floating in the air before her. She sat their staring at the orb for what felt like hours before it began to pulse rapidly and a teal cat like eye appeared and stared at chrysalis. Stunned chrysalis stared at the eye completely missing the dark blue tendril of magic snaking from the orb until it contacted her horn where she screamed in agony. The longer the tendril stayed the larger the orb became and the more agonized chrysalis's screams became. Then after a blinding flash of light the screams ceased and when the light faded away it revealed a new figure standing over the prostrate form or chrysalis. The figures eyes snapped open to reveal teal catlike eyes and a wide grin spread showing fangs and predator like teeth.The pony was as tall as celestia and as black as a starless sky its main was dark blue with spots like stars. Then chrysalis stirred below the figure giggling uncontrollably before she broke into full on hysterical laughter. When she opened her eyes gone was the cold calculating glare replaced by a insane unfocused stare that unnerved all who saw it. When her eyes finally found the figure above her chrysalis crawled from beneath it and came unsteadily to her feet.
"Welcome back nightmare moon" She said snickering slightly one of her eyes twitching and her whole body swaying back and forth. "Now that you are here we can move to ponyvile and conquer the princesses on nightmare night. so let us go the celebration is tonight and we wouldn't want to be late." As she said this chrysalis turned and trotted unsteadily from the cavern leaving nightmare moon standing where she was. Nightmare rose a questioning eyebrow as she watched the crazed queen leave before shaking her head and following her down the tunnel.
Nightmare night
The celebrations were in full swing in ponyvile as all the ponies ran back in forth between getting candy and the nights activity's. All the elements were their and dressed in similar costumes as the year before all save pinkie who was a turkey of all things. All completely unaware of a single shadow flying past the moon until a long low growl spread across the town. Causing all the ponies to stop and look up just in time to see the shadow dive and then seconds later impact the ground sending up a cloud of dust on impact. The elements were the first to the scene as they stood staring at the cloud rainbow dash was the first to speak.
"What kind of idiot would crash right into the ground I mean its a good entrance but stupid and even dangerous." She said right as flames came shooting out of the cloud missing rainbow but coming close enough for her to feel the heat. She jumped back with a yelp as deep foreboding laughter came from the now thinning cloud of dust.
"I would recognize that flame anywhere" said twilight looking puzzled at the figure that was now visible in the dust. She made as if to speak but was cut off by more laughter and the sound of heavy footsteps and the scraping of metal on metal.
"Very good young twilight I see your observation skills are still sharp"
When they heard this voice all the girls jaws dropped and they stared as the figure came fully out of the dust. It was tall and covered head to toe in a familiar dark armor though the blades that ran the length of his wings and the spiked ball on his tail were new. All the girls knew it was storm but something was off he was completely stoic and his eyes were glowing red from beneath his helmet. His emotionless gaze took in all the girls before him and all the ponies coming from behind them.
Applejack was the first to break the silence with a good laugh and say " Storm you bout scared us to death with this stunt what was ya thinking?" Storm didn't answer he simply reached over his shoulder and pulled out a broad sword almost as tall as him and swung it threateningly towards the girls causing them to jump back with a surprised yelp. He then placed the blade tip down into the ground and leaned against the flat of it.
"Hear me citizens of ponyvile" he said yelling so all gathered could hear him. " I am the herald of the true princess of the night and ruler of equestria Nightmare Moon." As storm said this the sky behind him grew dark with storm clouds that released sporadic bolts of lightning and a shadow again crossed the moon. But this time it was a chariot and as it drew closer all gathered let out a gasp of shock. For standing at the head of the chariot was none other than nightmare moon and when the chariot settled she stepped off the chariot she had a chain wrapped one of her fore hooves. Which she gave a yank on and a beaten and battered celestia limped out of the chariot and sat at the feet of her captor. At this sight Everypony gathered dropped to the ground some even began to cry. All save twilight who just stared before trying to get closer only to be stopped by storms sword. Twilight looked up at him pleadingly only to find him looking not at her but at nightmare moon who nodded with a devilish grin on her face and storm let her pass. She continued until she was right in front of nightmare moon and the princess completely ignoring nightmare focusing only on celestia.
"..h..how did this happen" twilight said on the verge of tears starring at celestia pleadingly. The princess made as if to speak but was cut off by a sharp yank on the chain around her neck which caused twilight to stare at nightmare moon with barely contained hatred.
"Allow me to tell you twilight it was truly a simple matter." Nightmare said that evil grin still on her face. "I found a way back here after you fools defeated me and I waited for the right moment to strike." Here she looked up at storm and continued her tale. "This nice young dragon provided the perfect opportunity I simply had to corrupt his mind then reconquer Luna while they were alone. after that was done it was a simple matter to defeat my sister and take my rightful place as ruler." When she finished speaking she looked back to twilight still grinning and asked "Any questions little one?" Twilight didn't respond she simply stared at nightmare moon before letting her head drop in defeat. At this sight Nightmare Moon through her head back laughing manically "well now that is out of the way I have only one more thing to say" she said motioning towards storm who moved to her side without a word.
"Citizens of ponyvile" she said her horn glowing and enveloping her storm and celestia in her blue aura and with a bright flash. Celestia was released and unharmed smiling sheepishly, Luna stood in the place of night mare moon, and storms eyes were back to normal with a huge grin on his face.
"Happy Nightmare Night" Everypony just stared uncomprehending for a long while until some began to chuckle nervously and the start all out laughing at each others expressions until they heard a all to familiar voice behind them all say.
"Well well what a show"
Everyone either spun around or stared at the new arrival their standing before them was chrysalis and her hoard.
"Oh don't stop on our account" Chrysalis said giggling and swaying side to side before she jumped excitedly and said.
"No do wait their is something we were wanting to show you isn't that right Nightmare Moon?"
"That's right chrysalis their is something I would like to show Everypony." Said a voice directly behind the princesses that made everyone jump and turn in time to see storm get blasted back by a bolt of magic from the real nightmare moon. And then see her and the princesses disappear behind a dark blue dome.
"Luna" storm roared as he threw himself against the barrier to no avail. Upon realizing he was getting no where storm spun around and charged chrysalis completely ignoring the battle going on around him. Just as he came within striking distance Chrysalis's eyes began to glow and storm fell to his knees and skidded to a stop directly in front of her. Chuckling chrysalis walked around the now hypnotized storm and went to the dome and waited on her ally and magic to do their jobs. Though the battle raged on around him at a stalemate to storms eyes the battle had been lost and their before him were the elements of harmony. All bound and held in place by a changeling each had either a pleading look as they stared at storm or had accepted defeat. As storm watched chrysalis walked in front of the girls and stopped at pinkie pie who happened to be on the end farthest from storm.
"Element of laughter" chrysalis said stroking pinkies mane before her horn began to glow along with pinkies mouth. As storm watched pinkies mouth was forced open and her tongue pulled out by chrysalis magic which then slammed pinkies mouth shut effectively cutting off her tongue. Pinkie's eyes nearly bugged out of her head and teared up as she screamed in pain and blood flowed past her lips. The rest of the girls gasped in horror as chrysalis got in pinkies face and said.
"Try laughing without a tongue" before breaking into crazed laughter. Pinkie stopped screaming and gave chrysalis a look that said " challenge accepted" and opened her mouth
"Ha Ha Ha" was all she got out before chrysalis horn and pinkies head glowed and pinkies head was spun one direction with a loud crack and her body fell limp. Storm Screamed in rage and fought against his restraints but couldn't break them as chrysalis moved to rarity next.
"Ahh element of generosity and a accomplished fashion-ista" Chrysalis said as her horn lit up again along with rarity's eyes. with a sickening wet snap chrysalis pulled rarity's eyes from their sockets and let them fall to them fall to the ground as blood streamed down her face Chrysalis leaned in and said.
"Lets see you judge fashion without you eyes rarity." Rarity stopped her screaming and faced towards chrysalis staring at her with her dark blood stained sockets and said.
"I don't need my eyes to know you look like shit darling"
Chrysalis let a angry growl before snapping rarity's neck the same as pinkie and letting her body drop. Next chrysalis continued down the line to twilight breaking off her horn and then breaking her neck. She broke applejacks legs and then her neck, She broke rainbows wings then her neck then she just snapped fluttershy's neck. To stunned to process what he was seeing storm stared in horror at the scene before him. Before him blood was everywhere and bones sticking out of flesh. But the worst was the way even with their heads at a unnatural angle they stared at storm in fogged over hatred. As if they blamed him for their deaths, even though he knew he couldn't do anything storms heart sank at the sight. Finished with her horrid display she turned to face storm with a monstrous grin before flicking her eyes to something behind him. Their came a sick tearing sound followed by a loud thump right by storm and a muffled scream. Storm was forcibly spun around and his heart skipped several beats and his breath caught in his throat. Right in front of him was celestia's head and it was staring at him as her eyes glazed over in death and what was left of her main stilled and faded to grey as blood pooled beneath it. Then his eyes snapped up when he saw movement and their beaten and bound was Luna with nightmare moon right behind her and celestia's body tossed carelessly aside in a pool of blood.. Storm thrashed madly against his restraints to the point of dislocating his shoulders and a wrist. Admitting defeat storm slowly looked back to Luna to see nightmare gone and have Luna mouth I Love you. Before her eyes went big and her chest was stained red and she fell forward to reveal a smiling nightmare moon with a blood stained horn laughing at him.
Storms mind snapped he lost all will to live as he was beginning to fade into unconsciousness the scene before him began to flicker and change. Until their before him wasn't Luna's corpse but that of a man and the longer storm stared at it the more he thought he knew the man. And then with a burning pain and agonizing scream everything came rushing back to storm. His childhood, his life afterword's, his rise to power, his death and finely the deal he made with Luna. Storm closed his eyes in agony and when he opened them again the scene was different their were no dead ponies just a battle that he didn't even see it. Their was only one thing on his mind revenge and chrysalis and he would be damned to hell if he didn't kill her for this.
