Chapter 21 The Tower

When they reached the farm house, they trotted inside to find the rest of the apple family gathered around the table.
"'Ello everyone!" greeted Gavin happily as entered the kitchen.
"Hiya Gavin!" replied Applebloom, excited.
"Sup" added Dam cooly.
"Hi Dan!" Greeted Applebloom. The three who had just entered joined the huddle around the table, to be greeted by a heavenly smell.
"Wow, that smells great Granny, whut is it?" asked Applejack.
"Granny Smith made an apple pie supreme!" replied the filly.
"It smells top" said Gavin, sniffing the air.

Granny Smith picked up a knife and held it over the pie. The pastry was cooked to perfection, but was the filling?
"Stand back everypony. It's time to slice!" announced Granny Smith, happily. Even Gavin and Dan were excited to see inside the crust. It looked delicious. As the knife sliced into the pastry it broke gently and crumbled slightly. Granny Smith pulled the knife down further into the pie, until it hit the bottom. She cut into it again to create a slice and wedged the knife underneath it.
"Moment of truth" she muttered, lifting the knife.

The slice of pie was perfect, the apples looked sweet and juicy, the fruity syrup encasing them was perfect consistency and the pastry stayed firm.
"Yeeha!" yelled the old pony. "Dig in!"
She sliced the pie up quickly and shared it out. It was amazing.
"This is the best apple pie ever!" exclaimed Gavin with his mouth full.
"Of all time." added Dan, making Gavin chuckle a bit.

They all finished the pie, said their good nights and headed to bed. Applejack once again lead the two stallions to the barn and wished them a good night before trotting off to her own bed. They lay on their hay in silence, the night was time to reflect on things. They'd lose themselves in the day, and it would only set in at night.

Dan turned to look at Gavin, a lost expression on his face.
"Gav, what are we doing?" he asked.
"Living." his friend replied. "We may as well enjoy it while we're here, however weird it is."
"Yeah. Night" said the unicorn, happier now.
"Night".
.............................
Geoff held his phone to his ear, hoping upon hope that Gavin would answer.
"Crap" he muttered. "He didn't pick up."
"What is he playing at?!" yelled Burnie. "Where is he?!"
"why don't you try his mom, I'll try Dan" suggested Geoff.
"Why?" asked Burnie, reluctant to call Gavin's mother.
"Maybe they know where he is. Why, you got any better suggestions?"
"..."
"Exactly, now get callin'"

The two men waited anxiously for an answer. Geoff was first to put his phone down and shake his head. But is however spoke.
"Hello Mrs. Free" he greeted thankfully.
"Hello Burnie, I didn't expect you to call!" replied the woman.
"Do you know where Gavin is, he's supposed to be here but he didn't catch his flight." asked Burnie nervously.
"I'm spread I have no idea, I haven't seen Dan in a while either." she replied sadly.
"Ok. Thanks, bye" muttered Burnie.
"Goodbye" she replied before hanging up.

He shook his head at Geoff and sighed sadly.
"What now?" he mumbled.
"He'll probably catch the next flight, which is tomorrow, we'll come back then" replied Geoff.
"Yeah, you're right. We'll come back tomorrow" agreed Burnie, before they both headed back to the car.
..........................
Rarity wiped her eyes and yawned. She'd worked all night to get the outfits finished and they looked perfect. Well almost perfect. She liked to include a personal touch to every pony's clothing but she hardly knew Gavin and Dan.
"I must make them perfect" she murmured to herself before trotting out of her boutique and towards sweet apple acres at a brisk pace.
When she arrived it was still early in the morning and everypony there was still asleep. She walked over to the barn and pushed the door opened slightly so she could peek inside. Dan was sat up rubbing his eyes and Gavin as sleeping on his pile of hay.

She walked inside slowly, making Dan look up at her. His eyes were bloodshot and tired, his face drained.
"Oh my Dan, you look awful!" she said quietly.
"Thanks" he chuckled, pulling himself onto four hooves. "Mornin'"
"Good morning" she replied. Gavin then moved his arm and yawned loudly, before sitting up.
"Mmmmggh" he groaned, stretching his body out.

Rarity giggled and helped him to his hooves.
"I need a personal touch for your suits, is there anything important or symbolic to you that I can use?" she asked. They both looked up I thought before Dan made his suggestion.
"You can just use my arse mark" he said calmly.
"Yes your cutie mark will do nicely actually. Can I get a peek?" she asked.

Dan blushed and turned around so she could look at his flank, Gavin giggling.
"Haha, she's lookin' at your flank Dan!" he wheezed.
"Yes, thank you" muttered Rarity, quite embarrassed. "What about you Gavin?"
"Hmm, I don't know" he said, tapping his chin. "Oh! I got it the tower of pimps!" he yelled happily.
"Yeah cause I'm sure she has four blocks of gold and one obsidian." chucked Dan sarcastically.
"Actually I do" stared Rarity with a smirk.

"So, what is the tower of pimps?" she asked curiously.
"My proudest creation" replied Gavin with a happy sigh.
"Too bad you've only won it once." laughed Dan.
"One Gavin's trophy room of victory will be filled" Gavin whispered to himself quietly so noone heard him.
"So... What does it look like?" asked Rarity.
"It's one obsidian block or square with four gold ones on top" he replied happily.
"Ok , thank you!" said Rarity excitedly, getting a brilliant idea. "I'll call you over with the mares when they're all finished" she mumbled before trotting quickly out of the door to write her idea down.
