Thundering Kindness - Chapter 3 - Shock Part 1

Shock - Part 1

Hush now... it's alright...

The morning stroke as time began to flow back into the almost lifeless body of Motion Reflux, he was aching badly from his less-than-average sleep. He growled as he stretched; even if the bed was comfy, his sleep wasn't in the least. As he rolled off of his bed he noticed a note pinned onto the door of his room. A bit cofused by this, he picked it up with a forehoof and read it.

--
Dear Strange Pony,
I don't know why you've taken up in your mind to find knowledge about an uninteresting pony and if you want to figure out the truth about the disappearances, find me. I'll be within the Northern Districts Fifth Platform at the stroke of twelve at night, wait under the large oak tree for me there.
Yours Truly,
A Friend
--

A Friend? he thought to himself, taking a seat back on his plush cloud bed and pondering. He figured that he could investigate a bit more about the mystery until then and see if he could unearth anything. Another thing he thought through was that he could make some more friends before then, killing two birds with one stone in the process.

He stretched once more and stood up, there was also a bag on the table in his room so he trotted up to it and took a peek inside to see a blueberry muffin. His mouth watered because he enjoyed the taste of muffins and cupcakes more than anything else in the world. He picked up the bag and flipped it over dropping the muffin right onto the table and he began to munch away at it. It was eaten quickly and when he was finished he exited out of his room and walked towards the exit of the castle, passing Princess Snowfall who wondered where he could be going off to.

The morning was as dull as yesterdays evening, it was still snowy and windy with the only difference being that it was brighter atmosphere. Something he really wanted to do was find the teleporting purple unicorn he saw last night but that had to be kept for next time. Right now he figured he would visit another district.

He walked over to the Western District which was still close to the Northern District and he flew up to the first platform. When he landed on the platform the first thing he noticed was a large library that took half of the floor, the other half being grass and stone paving. He looked in astonishment as he walked towards the grand door of the library and entering.

As he walked along the soft red carpet, he noticed at the front desk a brightly cyan colored unicorn with a darker shaded yet still brightly colored cyan mane. She flipped through pages of books and scanned them through with ease, carrying book after book with her magic into her view and placing it back afterwards with no effort. Her entire focus was on those books.

He walked past her and headed towards the shelves of books, seeing if he could find one about-... "Ah ha!" he exclaimed as he found the book he needed. It was a book of history on the city of Skyfell that he hovered up the large bookshelves and grabbed. He headed towards a large table in the middle of the library where ponies could read in silence.

Motion Reflux wasn't really a fan of reading books but right now was an exception, he needed the knowledge about the city right now. He flipped through the pages, it was an extensive book with a huge amount of pages to read. As he flipped past each page he stopped on page 67 and read...

-Disconnection from Mainland-

Times were dreary in Skyfell during the four-hundreth seventy-first summer solstice where stocks of food were running low and morale was lost. The citizens pleaded to the princess for help but she did not give it to them, shoving them away from her kingdom of Canterlot. They pleaded once more and again they were denied the help they needed. In the end, the citizens of Skyfell decided to separate themselves from Celestia. They created massive stone walls and a large wooden gate that disconnected their land from Equestria, sending a scout to Celestia with a letter stating their leave to become an independent nation. Skyfell advanced in their technology much faster, creating food like apples from apple trees that they have altered to grow faster and create a more abundant harvest. This was the beginning of a new age for Skyfell.

"Huh?" he whispered to himself as he shut the book, he didn't know whether or not this writing was true or false but atleast it was something to know about why Skyfell wasn't apart of Equestria anymore. He quickly put the book back and trotted out, the unicorn who was focussed on her books is just silently reading through one large book and didn't notice him leave.

He went towards the edge of the platform he was on and looked over, seeing an orchard of apple trees and a large wheat field. He also noticed that it wasn't snowing directly in that area, the snow was whirling around it like the whole farm was incased within a protective bubble. Another landmark to remember and maybe another place to visit some other time. He jumped off the edge of the platform and spread out his wings, beginning to soar through the sky to the Northern District.

The gale shifted its ferocity by blowing the magical snow even more fiercely than before. Motion Reflux struggled had landed on the third platform of the Northern District before the angry wind began to blow, flight was near-impossible now. He made his way towards the structure-holding tower and entered it, going higher up the staircase to the fourth platform.

He passed the entrance and noticed a familiar looking yellow pegasus with a solid pink mane. She turned her head and noticed him, flaring her wings in preparation. "Hey there..." he softly spoke to her, approaching in slow steps.

"What do you want, peon?" said Swiftshock as she turned and planted her hooves on the ground, standing tall and fierce. Her stare was as sharp as a tempered blade he noticed and knew that there was something odd.

He returned the stare and asked her, "Do you like animals, Swiftshock?" and all she did to reply was a simple nod. That was the icing on the cake that she did have a soft side to her angry persona. "Don't you have something better to do, little idiot?" she forcefully put out, almost cracking his mental shell. He turned away and took in a deep breath, "I just want to talk, you know, as friends".

She laughed, "You think I'm your friend, musky scent?" she brushed her wings against his cheek, "I'm sure we're not friends and that everypony in Skyfell hates you" she turned and smiled, "Don't think we're friends because we're not". Swiftshock walked right past him and leaned against the edge, "Now go away, stupid colt."

He grunted and walked away, finally faltering to the pseudo-insults she's been throwing at him continuously and furiously. He turned to see her giggle, her bright red eyes piercing right through his gaze. Motion Reflux turned away and made his way to the tower, descending back to the ground floor. His thoughts turned from Swiftshock to asking Princess Snowfall about why Skyfell disconnected from Equestria so that he can expand on his knowledge.

Making his way back towards the castle, he was interrupted by a blue colored pony crashing into him. Her mane was ruffled and messy and her tail was the same, her fur was a soft blue while her mane and tail were a darker blue. He snuck a look at her flank to see her cutie mark which was a thunderbolt and many plus signs.

"O-oh... oh!" she started, "I'm so, so sorry!" she apologized as she picked him back up, her energy was astounding as she hyperactively hopped up and down, "My name is Plusle Pulse!" she smiled, "Most ponies just call me Plusle~" she waved, "You must be that new pony that arrived! It's so nice to meet you, what's your name?"

"My name's Motion Reflux" he said in an organized manner, brushing away some dirt that got caught in his mane, "It's nice to meet you too, Plusle". She hopped, "I've gotta go! Mydowninthedumps bro needs me~" she quickly leapt and made her way into the Western District Tower.

Strange Pony... was all he could think, he noticed she was very hyper and kind because she didn't seem to hate him in the slightest. He walked into the castle and saw that Princess Snowfall wasn't there, "She must be away on royal business" he said to himself as he turned.

A Headache...

The headache came to him in a sudden instant, hitting him with the force of a dropping anvil. He shrugged it off and kept his mind forward, ignoring the pain. His vision was shaking, his legs were trembling but he kept his composure and went to the Northern District.

It was already getting dark and he guessed it was time to get to the fifth platform and wait under the tree for his unknown friend. The windstorm slowly ended which re-allowed the pegasi to fly through the city so Motion Reflux instinctively jumped up and scaled the tower quickly.

It only took a few moments to arrive at the fifth platform, the sky darkened and a small fog swept over the city. He walked up to the tree in the center of the platform and sat under it, the pain all over his body soon overpowering him. He couldn't move anymore and all he could do was breath, speak and look around.

"Hush now, quiet now..." said somepony as she walked into his view and revealed herself to be Swiftshock. He winced and tried to move, but his limbs were numb and uncooperative. "Sleep" she said as an evil smile crept across her face. Everything began to become ever blurrier and soon it all just went black.

He passed out...

Swiftshock giggled and picked him up onto her back, taking him someplace else where nopony was around and where nopony ever dare tread.

It took a few hours before he could muster back the ability to wake up, but he didn't want to open his eyes because he knew something was wrong. He tried to move his hooves and they wouldn't budge away from a fixed position like they were tied down. Next he tried to spread his wings but they were bound tightly onto his body with a strong bandage. He didn't want to open his eyes still and through his ears he heard...

Hush now... It's alright...
