Hello there, I’m Doctor Magnum another fanfiction writer and a good friend of Wilde and it’s my great pleasure to be writing this forward to his first story.

I have a question for you. Do you know who Deadpool is? How about the masked man V? Or Batman?

Of course you know who that is but what do they all have in common? Well the main man of this story is basically them all mashed together in one volatile basket-case. His name is Jacob and he is known as the Firestarter.

Now for those of you who have read this story in its rough draft phase there are some major changes that have taken place so it’s basically a brand new version of the same story. Some chapters are still here and have been altered a little and some have been redone entirely. For those of you who are new, welcome and allow me to explain this little story: This is an alternate universe of planet Earth where the failing government of the once great United States of America has caused severe unrest in the people who live under it. Life had pretty much turned into a tightly packed room of TNT and all it would take was someone to drop the match.

That someone is a group that called themselves Chance. They made the people rise up and rebel against the government and bring it toppling down in a pile of rubble. But those who had at first promised the people freedom and a better living were nothing but a pack of liars who only desired control and power and so they betrayed the people. They took over renaming the country into the Republic of Chance. They marched against Canada and Mexico and even South America in a movement of world conquest. They declared war against the other nations and began an unrelenting and unmerciful rampage all the while torturing and starving the people they ruled under especially the people of what was once the USA.

Now as for the hero of this story you might be wondering, “How does he play into this and how is he like those hero’s from the beginning?”

Well Jacob is a terrorist living in a city that was once great and proud now nothing but a pile of waste and despair. He once was a normal kid but when he was thirteen his home was destroyed in a huge riot. His home was consumed with fire and young Jacob witnessed his own family burn in front of him. It was at that moment that the boys mind broke and the Firestarter was born. His main goal is to bring down Chance and get revenge for the deaths of his family. His weapon of choice is fire, utilizing it in his explosives to send a message to Chance that they will burn for what they did.

But there is more to Jacob than just that: when his mind broke his psyche split apart into seven beings each representing a part of Jacob, either a desire or a trait. They have been his voices of reason and have done everything to keep him on the narrow edge of sanity as they try to save what little humanity he has left.

The so called Seven have become so real to Jacob they each have their own personalities, physical traits, and names. In the story their voices will be represented by the following colors.

Guard= Bold black. The one who represents the qualities of leadership that resides in Jacob, his voice is the voice of an experienced general and tactician.

Jay=Olive. The wise teacher who provides the voice of common sense and knowledge

John=Red. This being appears to be an excuse for an older brother for Jacob who provides unending support to his friend.

Angus=Brown. What this one represents is unknown but for the most part is just another voice in Jacobs head though he seems to listen to him the most.

Hank=Blue. The comic relief in Jacobs’s horror story of a life, his is the voice of laughter and comedy as he strives to make Jacob smile at least twice a day.

Sam=Orange. The brainiac who is the most critical thinker of all the voices, he gives Jacob options and ideas for his exploits. Tends to overreact a bit.

Tom=Silver. Jacob’s dark side where all the bad memories and tragedies reside, he is mostly there to remind Jacob every day why he fights for the deaths of those responsible.

Together they lend the support Jacob needs to maintain what little humanity is left and continue to strive towards his goals. After the incident he trained his body and mind in many ways and created the image of the Firestarter that would strike fear in his enemies and hope in the people. This image was a gas mask with two respirators and mirrored lenses.

But what does Jacob as a symbol represent?

An anti-hero? A crusader? A monster? A devil?

Let me ask you another question now: Let’s say that the American democratic government really did fall and those that brought it down began to burn everything away that we had by it: our freedoms and our liberties, and brought us down to the lowest possible level even those that were at the highest level. What would you do?

Would you hide in fear? Would you try to find a way to live in that world ruled by fear and tyranny? Or would you want to rise up and take back what was taken from you, those freedoms that you realize were more important than you believed.

Can you guess what Jacob is now? He’s the phoenix.

That part of us that wants to fight back and fight for our freedom from terror. We want to fight for Justice. But in that we risk losing ourselves to our thirst for revenge and turn into animals. Do you want to know another thing about Jacob? He was only sixteen when he made his first kill, and he was seventeen when he made his second and third and his fourth when he was eighteen. Now he is twenty and not afraid to kill again but the Seven fights to keep him from going too far so that he can still be that symbol of hope and justice to the people.

Now this is starting to sound like your average comic book but how about we throw in something unexpected, like a pony. Not just any pony but the Element of Kindness herself, Fluttershy. Now all of Jacob’s plans are torn apart as he has to not only fight the tyrannical Republic but now care for a creature he has never seen before and find a way to send her home to her world which is in a whole other universe. But Fluttershy unknowingly is the key that will unlock Jacob’s true self and heal his broken heart as well as provide the final piece to the downfall of the Republic.

So Jacob makes her a promise that he will protect her and get her home alive but that could come at a steep price.

So without further ado lets jump right in shall we?

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this story.

Yours truly,
M
