„She is late..“
Golden Harvest trotted nervously.
„If she does not show up soon, I won’t make it in ti-- “
„Ey Golden Harvest! “
The gardening pony looked up to the sky, surprised by the loud greeting. A gray Pegasus pony with a pale blonde mane was approaching her.
“Derpy! Finally. I was afraid you would not come. What took you.. ”
She was interrupted by the sound of a pony crashing into the garden fence that surrounds her home.
Derpy was sitting dizzily in front of a slightly cracked fence post. After a moment she realized the small damage she has done and looked up to Golden Harvest.
„Ouch, I‘m sorry! “
There was a mix of guilt and habit in her eyes.
„It is all right. Thank you for coming. “
Golden Harvest gave the crossed eyed pony an uneasy look.
„And it is okay for you to help me out with my gardening for today? I mean I always thought that the only thing you do is delivering mails”
Derpy shook her head so hard that her eyes went spinning for a moment before she started speaking with a crooked smile.
„Nah, I like helping out wherever I’m needed“
Her smile turned to a thoughtful expression.
„But the other ponies say, that delivering the mail is where I’m causing the fewest problems. “
„Oh.. “
The gardening pony looked to the ground awkwardly but then she realized that she was already late and that she should hurry.
„Anyways. I entrust my garden to your hoofs. Please take care of the weeds during the morning and water the beds. The watering pot can be found in the lodge right next to the house. Take a break afterwards and then you could start painting the fence. The paint buckets are inside the house. I am going to be back till afternoon so we can finish the painting together. “
Derpy stood up and saluted with her front hoof.
„Roger that, Golden Harvest. I’ll do it! “
Golden Harvest waved goodbye with a slightly worried smile and galloped away.
Bursting with energy Derpy stood in the middle of the carrot beds.
„All right, first the weeds! “
The pony stomped through the garden in her search for weeds while humming a song. Whenever she found some, she ripped it out by taking the weed in her mouth and pulling with all her might.
After a shot while all the weeds were gathered in one big pile. Among the weeds there were small parts of orange where Derpy had mistaken a carrot for some weed.
Proud of the work she has done Derpy made her way to the lodge.
„La, lala~ I’m helpin‘ out. La, lala~ Throw weeds around. La, lal-ouch! “
Once again Derpy found herself siting on the ground with a slight headache. In front of her there was the now broken door of the lodge. She looked into the lodge, checking out its inventory.
„There you are, Mister Watering Pot! But why don’t y’ have any water inside? “
The clumsy pony thought intently about how she could refill the watering pot.
„O’curse! I am not a Pegasus pony for nothin’ “
Happily Derpy launched into the air but she totally forgot that she was still inside the lodge so that she crushed through the roof leaving a big hole.
After a shot moment, where she floated mid air once again wondering where her headaches come from, she dashed to a nearby black rain cloud.
She moved the cloud over the lodge and was positively surprised that there was even a whole in the roof right above the watering pot. So she began jumping on top of the raincloud to fill the watering pot with rain water.
„The dark ones are best~ they have so much rain inzzzzz-- “
Dizzily Derpy tumbled on top of the black cloud after she got struck by a lightning bolt.
It took some moments for her to regain full control over all of her muscles but when she looked down to check the outcome of her plan she smiled with a happy grin. The watering pot was now filled up to the edge with rain water.
Happily she approached the watering pot and took it with her mouth. Then she set out to the garden and walked along the carrot beds until everything was watered. Some smaller appeared when she has stumbled over her own hoofs thus accidently spilling some of the water.
Pleased with the result Derpy walked through the garden heading to the house.
The paint buckets were inside the house, just as Golden harvest has told her. Sie walked in and took one bucket that was already opened along with a brush and headed outside to start painting the fence.
„That’s one pretty orange-brown! So let’s get it down! “
Giggling over her funny rhyme Derpy started to paint.
Golden Harvest pranced joyfully along the way to her house. In her mouth she carried a package wrapped in cute paper. It has taken her longer than she had planned but she was more than pleased with the result of her trip. And she was hoping that Derpy would feel the same way.
But she nearly lost her precious package trough shock as she arrived at her house.
Her garden was completely under water, carrots and weeds were resting together on as a big pile of everything, the door to her lodge was open and all the tools inside were heavily soaked. Water was dripping from a hole in the roof of the lodge and as she looked around she realized the unevenly painted fence.
She charged into the house and nearly slipped thanks to all the mud lying on the floor, leading to the painting buckets and back. After she placed the package on the table she sat down next to the gray Pegasus pony, which was lying on her couch.
„Derpy! What happened? “
Derpys crossed Eyes showed her desperation.
„I just wanted to help!“
Then there was a moment of silence. Derpy looked through the window next to her into the garden.
„I.. I just don’t know what went wrong.“
The head of the pale blonde pony sank into her hoofs as she sobbed.
Golden Harvest looked at the sad Derpy and started to speak.
„I should have never let you alone with all those work. Everypony knows that you can be kind of.. clumsy sometimes. “
The pony with the carrot coloured mane stood up and fetched the package from the table. She unwrapped it and revealed a tablet with muffins. Then she got back to her seat next to Derpy and placed the tablet between them.
„They are carrot flavored. I know that you like muffins so..“
Golden Harvest blushed.
„Pinkie Pie helped me to alter the recipe so it gets a little of my personal touch.“
Derpy looked up in confusion. She could not understand why she was treated some sweets after all her messing up and her eyes spoke her thoughts.
„Please do not mind the garden. I will fix everything tomorrow so for now let us eat. ”
Still confused Derpy took one of the muffins and then looked up to Golden Harvest again.
„But why’ve you asked me anyway? I mean if you’ve known that this would happen. “
Once again the gardening pony blushed and turned her face away so that Derpy does not notice. But before she could answer the question Derpys mood turned within a split-second.
„Whoa! These muffins are awesome! They taste really great!“
Golden Harvest smiled. Even if it will take a whole day to fix everything up again, those words were worth it.
