I...I couldn't believe it...Luna...she...turned dark, into Nightmare Moon again. And to make things worse, she attacked me. And to make things EVEN worse, I'm the one that caused it. After I fell out of the wall, the only ones in the room, were me, and Dashie. I...didn't even move after I landed. I just lied there, crying now. I felt Dash come over, and nuzzle me, she could tell I needed some sort of company, and she was also concerned, and upset. I managed to sit up, and just sat there, holding her close, as I cried. I couldn't let this happen. I know Luna needs somepony. That somepony, is ME. I calmed myself down, and though I was still very upset, I set Dash aside, and stood up, a look of determination in my eyes. I left the room and went out into Canterlot, and I bought a very special bouquet, I had read some extra books on flowers, especially rare ones, and I had a bouquet made, that was a circle of Moon Lilies, with an inner circle of Lunar Roses, a rare flower, then, as the final piece, I had a Cosmic Rose, the rarest of all flowers placed in the center. I took the bouquet with me after paying for it, and walked into the Everfree forest, where I sensed Luna's power.
I put away the bouquet I had, to prevent it from getting damaged as I trekked through the forest. I crossed a broken mountain path, sliding down the mountainside, and crossed a river, then I walked through a path of trees, that were twisted, and almost trying to scare me away, but, I laughed back at them, determined to get to my goal. A manticore was ahead, and blocked the path, but after seeing the look of sadness, and determination in my stare as I continued to advance, it moved aside, allowing me to pass. I gave it a pat on the head.
"Good boy." I said as I passed by, before continuing. I soon came to a foggy chasm, with a broken wooden hanging bridge. I flew over to the other side, and looked up, seeing what appeared to be ruins of an old castle infront of me. I could sense Luna inside, or rather, Nightmare Moon. With a sad sigh, I walked inside.
I entered the large ruins, after opening the massive doors, which emitted a loud groan when I pushed them open. I wandered into the room, the grand hall, and I was cast into darkness, in the light ahead, I could see a Pony-like shape, it's back to me, crying. It was clearly Nightmare Moon. I stayed in the darkness, and approached.
"Luna..." I said sadly, my boots were clacking against the hard floor. Nightmare Moon jumped, and turned around.
"Who goes there?!?" She asked, anger in her voice, at being intruded upon in her time of sadness. I stepped out of the shadows revealing myself.
"Let's no do this. Please, let me explain. I Love you Luna. I'll ALWAYS Love you." I said, as I approached her, coming face to face, and staring deep into her teal draconian eyes.
"You Lie. Thou said you loved Rainbow Dash. Not I." She said in anger, shoving me. I couldn't believe it, Luna shoved me...granted this was Nightmare Moon, but, it was still Luna inside.
"I'd never lie about something like this! I...I do love you, I love you with all my heart, and all of my very soul. I...I love Rainbow Dash yes, and the amount of love I have for her, is on par with you, but, You'll always be above her." I said, hoping to cheer her up.
"Leave us....NOW. We do not wish to speak with thee any longer. We also do not wish to see thee anymore." Nightmare Moon said, as she turned around, so she would not see me. I was stunned. Luna...had apparently broken up with me now. With much reluctance, I sighed, and pulled out the bouquet I had bought, and I knelt down, and set it on the ground, making sure it was in a place where she would see it when she looked back, and it wouldn't be messed up.
"Very well. If thou wishes for me to leave. I shall honor thy wish." I said, saddened greatly. "Goodbye." I said with a calm, caring voice, that would seem out of character for somepony like me. As I turned to leave, I heard her speak again.
"For some reason, I hate goodbyes." She said, with that beautiful dark voice she had.
"Ohhhh....Me too....Goodbye." I said softly. I then left without another word. I then, took off, heading for the Moon now. If she didn't wish to see me, fine. I'll go to a place where I can be alone to wallow in my self pity, and sadness as well, a place where I will wait for her. Where she can find me, should she want to. I arrived on the Moon's surface a few hours after I took off, and sat down, and there I remained, crying to myself. Not facing the beautiful planet that I called home. I kept my eyes closed, as I silently cried.
(Luna's POV)
I...I couldn't believe it, Red said he loved somepony, much less Rainbow Dash...even though he is in love with me?!? I know love has multiple meanings, such as parental, or sibling, and couples love, but, the way he said it. It rang true, he did love her. Out of anger, I changed, and attacked him, then left, flying out to the old ruins my sister and I used to stay at. And there, I cried. After a few hours passed, I felt a presence in the shadows, and then, it spoke.
"Luna..." it said. Sadness in it's voice, with concern as well. I recognized it. It was Red. Had he come to explain himself? To try and make it up to me? Did he think he could win me over with a Moon Lily? Telling me how much he loved me, or my night? BAH, it wasn't going to work this time. After listening to his 'explanation' I shoved him, and turned my back on him. I did not want to speak with, or see him for a while. But then, he did something unexpected. He spoke again, with a voice that was very unlike him, out of character if you will, after he set something down.
"Goodbye." He said.
"For some reason, I hate goodbyes" I said, showing my own caring side for him.
"Ohhhh....Me too....Goodbye." He replied softly again. He then left without another word. I continued to weep, and cry, for a while after he left. I then turned around, preparing to leave, and...Oh my...He had left a gift...a special one at that. A most beautiful bouquet, made of Moon Lilies, Lunar Roses, and...at it's center...my eyes began to tear up when I saw it. A Cosmic Rose, the rarest flower of all. It's beauty is indescribable, it was a joint creation by my sister and myself, and after planting the first one, they began to spring up in nature. Showing up once or twice every hundred years or so. It must have cost a fortune to get that. I noticed a card on the bouquet, I gently picked up the bouquet, and brought it to me, then read the card.
"When you read this, I won't be on Equestria anymore. And we will have had an argument, resulting with you not wanting to see or speak with me. If you wish to see and talk to me again, then come find me. But be warned, when you find me, you will find a broken man. a sad, distraught, broken man. I love you Lulu. Please. Forgive me. Let us put this behind us." It read. As I read it, I began to tear up. He really did care, he did love me more than Rainbow. Even if it was just a little more than her, he did. I had to find him, but where...Where would he go...if he was going to be alone...to let out his feelings, where would he....oh...of course! I spread my wings and took flight.
(Red's POV)
Finding an exhausted, broken man
I heard the clatter of hooves behind me, as I sat on the moon. I could sense her. It was Luna. Without looking, I simply spoke.
"Hello Princess Nightmare Moon. You came all this way just to see me?" I had little emotion in my voice as I spoke. And what emotion there was, there was sadness.
"...No..." She said. That beautiful dark voice. It was like music to my ears to hear her again. "I came...to talk. To brink you home my love." She said. I was feeling much better, but oh so tired. She stepped over beside me, and looked down on me, with her teal draconic eyes, sadness in them. Regret it seems as well. I looked up at her, with sadness in my eyes, and a look of pure exhaustion. I was tired. Oh so tired from this. I can't bare to be away from Luna like this. I mean, when I'm away from her on the planet, on a mission, or in town, I'm fine, because I know she's there waiting for me. But, after this? I was tired, I didn't want to be away from her. She smiled warmly, and leaned down, nuzzling my neck, and hugging me. I returned the hug. Then, I heard her cry, and I saw her glow, and shrink down. Much smaller than before actually, and even more importantly, I heard her crying. She changed, her coat became a powdery blue, and her mane and tail turned the sky blue color that my eyes become when I transform to my ultimate state, the Lunar Saiyan. She was beautiful, though I thought her other appearance, with the darker blue fur, and the starry mane and tail was more beautiful, this appearance was amazingly beautiful as well. I hugged her tightly, and held her close, crying, with her. We stayed like that for hours, before we finally stopped crying.
"I love you Lulu." I said kissing her.
"I love you too Red. I'm sorry for doubting you. I should have let you explain." She said returning the kiss. We held each other for a good few hours together, now looking out upon the planet we both called home.
"I'm curious darling." I said now back to my smiling cheery self, together with my marefriend. "Do you have a special guard personally for you?" I asked.
"Yes, why?" she asked.
"I'd like to join it." I said, standing, while holding her in my arms.
"Interesting. My battalion only accepts the best. I only accept the best OF the best as my personal guard." She said with a smirk. "Think you can make it?" she asked with a devious smile.
"Oh I know I can darling. Now, let us return home." I said, before concentrating, and creating a pair of shadowy teal angel wings, which stuck out of my back, and I caught Luna staring.
"Chaos Powers. Oh how I love thee." I said smiling, as I leapt off the moon, and used my new wings, to propel myself down to the planet, so that we might return home.
After we got through the atmosphere, we entered a free fall, and I didn't flap my wings, or use them to glide, I waited until we got dangerously close to the ground, before pulling up, and rolling, as I flew toward Canterlot. We flew over the skies, with her starting to let go, and take flight on her own wings, we flew together, and spun around on each other, before both landing at Canterlot Castle, after landing, I poofed away my wings, returning to my normal appearance.
"How did you like my parting gift dear?" I asked.
"Beautiful, I put it right over there!" she said pointing to the bouquet, which she preserved, and set in a vase.
"Wonderful darling. Now then, when shall my tests to join your guard begin? and what shall I need?" I asked.
"Tonight. And you will need some armor. Should be easy for you with those new powers over Chaos." She said.
"Indeed." I said smiling, already having an idea in mind. And with that, I got to work, after leaving the room, giving Luna a kiss.I stopped, and turned back.
"Luna...listen, I love Rainbow Dash, on the same level that I love you. She's just a little bit below you on my love meter." I said, giving Luna a hug.
"I understand now, the card you had with the flowers, explained it to me." She said with a smile, giving me a kiss.
"Thank you. Do you forgive me?" I asked. She nodded, and we hugged before I left, to go work on the armor I'd be using. But then, something stopped me, and dragged me back inside with their magic, as I'm sure you can guess, it was Luna.
"Oh what does thou wish for now?" I said with a smile. She smirked, and put me in the bed, then crawled in herself.
"Your going to need some sleep, if you intend to fight, and become the best of the best." She said smiling, before giving me a kiss. I then began to drift off to sleep, as she did too, and I felt something growing, and my happiness was at an all time high.
