Life of a Nobody

by Xinrick

Nobody on the front lines

After my ‘going away’ party…I took a deep breath as I stood before the portal to the Front Lines…did I truly want to do this?

I felt a hand on my shoulder, as I looked back I saw…my Council…Zuko, my Knight, giving me a nod. “Everything will be alright, King.” He said.

My whole Council…each one of them looked older, mature, stronger…all of them suited up and ready for war. “My Council…my compatriots…my friends…” I said, looking between all of them.

Zuko, Emperor of the Fire Nation and my Knight wielding Interdiction that was formed into his famous twin blades, coated in nothingness as he was wearing his Knight armor, his face older, wiser and mature even though he kept his scar to forever remember where he came from.

I looked to Joy, my Paladin, my little brother…even if he was now a hermaphrodite like me…seeing them in their Keyblade armor, holding Reunion and Lindworm at the ready just filled my heart with joy and nostalgia.

Dante, who was once the DMC version, became his Devil May Cry 5 version, where he looked older, but still had that smug confidence to himself, as he held his Devil Sword Dante on his back and having Sharpshooters at his side ready to fire, in his iconic red trench coat outfit.

Virgil, who also decided to ditch his DMC version for Devil May Cry 5 version, stood stoically in his blue trench coat, holding the Skysplitter Katana and Yamato at his side as he gave a simple nod that he was ready for battle.

Kat was strange, gone was the humble young adult graffiti magician, now into a strikingly beautiful woman still wearing her signature outfit from her world, though it held much more as it flowed like a Sage’s robes, a staff made from a world tree and Book of Retribution in her hands at the ready.

Genos, the Anarchist, once sought all sorts of upgrades and machinery to become the greatest hero of his world, but having seen what Saitama was truly capable of against Garou, and even myself on occasions, he knew what he had to do. Long gone were his normal machine body, as he turned to magitech, his entire body turning into more of a Clockwork Golem, but instead of normal gears, he managed to turn Eternal Flames into all the Gears, as his Core became an everlasting Sun that would burn any in his path.

Brook was an interesting case, as he both changed the least physically but the most in other spots, ranging from him turning from a violin to a guitar, going from more of a gentleman look to a rocker look, his confidence having gone through the roof ever since he both helped Luffy become King, met Laboon after all that time, and was my Bard for god knows how long, as he readied his guitar and sword for the fight.

Trixie Lulamoon was shuffling Fair Game, dressed in a more armored version of her Stage Performer, as she gave me a confident smile of her performance, as well as just her general physique being a lot more…mature and filled that helped give her the confidence to strut her stuff as she could easily cheat out people while using her body and she knows it.

Grell, my Death Seeker and Grim Reaper from Black Butler, changed the most, especially when they learned we had gender swapping potions. Grim Reapers were Soul Creature, and knew when something was wrong with their body, as Grell was the main advocate to both getting people in her predicament the mental health they need and, in some cases, use gender swap potions to see if they truly wanted it. And Grell was…honestly a beautiful Woman to be perfectly honest, as the term ‘Milf’ or ‘Dayum’ honestly couldn’t do her physique justice…which also might make me weirder cause the way they were holding their version of Graceful Dahlia, a Chainsaw Scythe, was kind of making them more hot…

“Later Grell.” I chuckled as they gave me a wink, looking over to my next Council Member, Steve Rogers, Captain America, dressed in his iconic costume but the star was surrounded by a Heart shaped by Nothingness thorns, as he tightened his version of Frozen Pride to his arm. The old soldier did deserve rest after all this fighting, even though his bearded face looked ready for the fight, a conviction to protect the people and the world…the face of a true Hero.

Next was Luxu…god Luxu, as he chose to continue not having a Body, he stuck with his black full body cloak, but as he held Lunatic and Gazing eye tightly I could feel his conviction…he’s not doing this just cause of his part as a Council, but he’s doing this for Time Belle, his wife…and his wonderful kids.

Second to last was Speed of Sound Sonic, the ninja that believed Speed was everything, and he embodied that thought greatly as his very body kept vibrating at such a speed that he looked like he was about to phase into another dimension at any moment and appear to strike his opponent at any given notice…still sucks that he has yet to beat Saitama, even after all these many years…but his conviction was still there, the fire in his Heart would never give out, and Foudre would give him the power he needs and deserves.

Lastly was Riku…I still couldn’t believe that my last Council member was Riku…it feels like I was in a completely different reality when this all started because of Kingdom Hearts…but he decided to go with his Kingdom Hearts 3 look, which fit him rather well to be honest.

Then I looked at myself in a mirror, seeing myself, the Den Mother Dire Wolf…but it shifted to the really old me, just the human in a pure white version of the Organizations cloak, just a simple human with so much baggage…but so much potential, as the image of my seemed to do some time laps as I witnessed my own life flash before my eyes…every mistake, every embarrassing nonsense…but all the good things I did, all the love, patience and joy I've gotten from my spouses, my friends, and my family…

I took a deep breath and wiped away my tears. "No time for wool gathering…it's time." I said, taking my first step into this war.

As I walked out, everything suddenly came to a dead silent, all the blasts, fighting, gunfire…everything went dead as I made my walk through the battlefield. The echoing sound of clapping was heard as I saw…Gray, walk up with portals starting to form around him. “My my, if it isn’t about time.” Gray said simply.

“Yeah yeah.” I said. “You wanted a fight that you didn’t expect?” I asked, seeing them raise an eyebrow in their new body. “Well, then I’m going to demonstrate something you’ve probably never seen before, and it comes from my great friends, the Foretellers.” I said, putting my hands together to form a castle like shape. “Domain Expansion!” I shouted. “Palace of Fantasy!”

As I shouted it, every single portal Gray created started spewing out untold numbers of monsters, soldiers and bioweapons from countless timelines, as the sound of music filled the entire reality, a massive castle forming from my own power, the gate coming crashing down as all the soldiers that risked their lives on the Front Lines while I’ve been doing everything I could to prepare pouring out of it, infused with my power, along with the same countless numbers of new soldiers, automatons, monsters and bioweapons.

As the song played in the background, I saw my Council members leap into the forefront of the endless tide, clearing vast area’s with each of their attacks, I donned my True King armor, what once needed a chant to claim the true power, I could easily equip as I grabbed both my King Greatsword, the weapon that embodied all thirteen weapons of Nothingness, my very being and right to rule, and pulled out X, the one keyblade that started all this nonsense and the soul of my dear Heart…as I fuzed them together for a weapon that has never been seen before, as I noticed Gray getting a wider and wider smile till it looked more like a manic grin.

The weapon I created, the culmination of both Kingdom Hearts true power and Nothingness’s true power, it formed what at first glance looked like a simple greatsword, with ornamentation on the handle, guard and the secondary guard as it took a more Zweihander appearance, but the key detail shown in the middle of the blade, that of a hollow’d out part in the middle of the blade that looked like the silhouette of a Dusk Nobody, but in the center held together with Pure white and Pure dark Nothingness Thorn’s was a crystalline heart, lightly shining and dimming like a heartbeat. “Existence…” I muttered, pointing the tip of the blade at Gray. “And it’s all pointed at you asshole.” I growled.

“Then come on! Show me what you’ve got!” Gray challenged, walking past his own forces getting absolutely destroyed left right and center, the apathetic mass of energy wanting nothing more than to fight me and only me to experience what it’s like to know something new.

I said nothing, as I raised my blade and swung…

The Knight

Zuko, once a prince banished from his home to do an impossible task. Zuko, once a teacher to the Avatar to help bring Balance to his world. Zuko, once the Fire Lord and bringer of peace after a hundred years of constant strife, war and bloodshed.

Zuko, the Knight, wielder of Interdiction, with Fire bending the likes of which no one has seen before and is second only to his King and the Anarchist, as he seamlessly cleaved through enemy after enemy, his twin laser swords imbued with Nothingness and the power of their namesake, slaughtering that were abominations to this world, forcing amalgamation to halt in time as the power of the blades tore at their very being with how wrong their very existence was, each enemy burning into nothing but ash as Zuko rushed through all his enemies.

The Paladin

Joy, once Rejection, the younger sibling to King, was flying through enemy after enemy, slaying any and all enemies with precision and without mercy, the powers of Lindworm and the Elder Dragon God imbued in every weapon to the very Wind he was producing, to Reunion, the Keyblade King obtained after saving him from the Darkness.

Joy had everything, a family, friends, his own harem and massive amount of kids…and it was all thanks to his older brother…it was all thanks to King, and he would sooner die than see everything they’ve worked towards be brought to nothing.

The Archer

Dante has been through a lot. As a young man he killed the King of Hell, nearly killed his brother that he thought long lost, got into a relationship with Kat, and he was ready for a new step to his life…but everything turned upside down when he became the Archer. He learned how gigantic reality was…and how weak he was compared to everything, even to his different reflections. He looked at what his ‘history’ was, saw what his other version’s were and how much more devastating they were…so, he decided to change that.

He became something much more, with the help of King and the others. He chose to be seen as his DMC 5 look, because it had him feel…right, his age showing he managed to grow up, the power such maturity and knowledge gained…and he had to admit, white hair actually did go great on him. All the power he obtained from becoming his true self, obtaining his Devil Sword, and having Sharpshooters upgraded to hell and back like Ebony and Ivory certainly helped as he was hooting and hollering in glee as he was using all the weapons he’s obtained throughout the ages with Sharpshooters to do Smokin’ Sexy Stylish!!! Combo’s on all his foes.

Dante transformed into his Sin Devil Trigger as he spun the twin crossbow guns and fired an ungodly powerful blast. “Jackpot.” Dante said with a grin

The Defender

Steve Rogers, once naught but a stick of a man with many health problems, became the Symbol of what America was supposed to be, a place where Freedom and Justice were the core tenets for the people, where Hope is and always should be a viable option than cowering against the darkness, Loyalty to one’s countrymen, to have the Courage and Perseverance to fight against any form of Tyranny, Domestic or Otherwise, in the name of the country he fought for all the way back in World War 2.

He thought him being brought back would help the people of the world, him leading the Avengers to make a better future…but while it did help, new problems kept cropping up…but the old plagues stayed the same, corruption, greed, and hunger for power kept poisoning the people, apathy, self centeredness and people claiming they were ‘on the right side’ constantly spouting nonsensical bullshit and ruining others lives, whether through words or through whatever strange powers they got for that flavor of the week…but when King and Joy showed up, when they gave Captain his new shield, Frozen Pride, he felt a sense of irony that what kept him alive to the modern day was now the Shield he used to protect the people he cared about, his friends, his family back home, his countrymen…

This was the Captain’s new home, and every single monster he froze and shattered with his shield, he knew what he had to do, for he was the Defender, the guardian of the people…

“I can do this all day.” The Captain chuckled as he dashed forward again, a mighty phalanx of ice at his back.

The Gate Guardian

Vergil was in the same boat as his twin brother Dante, having seen how…small his goals were when he was younger, how weak he truly was to do what he needed…he wasn’t what he could be…but he saw the bigger picture when he was gifted Skysplitter from King, he saw all the worlds and what he could have truly been…what he could have had…

Nero, the quarter demon spawn of himself and a woman he didn’t know the name of, a child…a son he could call his own that was as strong as he was at the peak of his might with the power of his Sin Devil Trigger and the Fruit from Qliphoth tree…Vergil side stepped a swing and shook his head, not needing to think of his newborn son as he cleaved the monster into tiny pieces with his Dimension Slash, what he must focus on was the battle, and how he became his true self, the Azure Sin Devil, the Gate Guardian, and the one that would slaughter all that would oppose him and his King.

“Now…” He clenched his fist before activating his Sin Devil Trigger. “I’m Motivated!” He declared, before vanishing as a layer of Reality shattered like glass as he truly went wild.

The Mage

No matter what worlds she looked into with Dante and Vergil…Kat could never see herself in those worlds, there was no reflection that was involved with them…and at first, it hurt the street magician, to see how no matter what world she looked at, she was just relegated to the ‘Donte’ world as she kept hearing…looking back, she never really lived up to the potential so many people thought she had, just being a pretty face with a can of spray paint to get Dante everywhere…But no more.

She was Kat the Archsage, The Mage to King’s Council, and she was damn proud of that fact. She was Master of Illusions, Master of all sorts of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as the only one she was second to was King themselves, and as she let the pages in her book fly as spell after spell was cast, foe after foe dominated by her expertise in the mystical arts…she looked over to see both Dante and Vergil having a blast with their new powers, their true strength left to go buckwild…and she couldn’t help but smile, as even now, she was helping, she was their equal…and as the wing’s of pure mana sprouted from her back, lighting crackling off her very being as she floated…

“I know exactly who I am…and I’m proud of it.” Kat grinned, letting off a Cataclysm spell.

The Anarchist

Genos, the Cyborg, a human that gave himself, body and soul to the be strong, to be a hero after he was saved by the good Dr.Kuseno, wanting to go through any and all mechanical augmentation and upgrade till he was nothing more than a robot with the seriousness and single minded will to be a powerful hero…he personally learned what 'tunnel vision', his pure unbridled seriousness and devotion to power and heroism blinded him to everything in reality.

He was a fool, the most simplest of conclusions he could come up with at how close minded he was, ignoring all the simplest of solutions for his hyper serious actions and drive…but with King and his fellow Council members help he…loosened up a bit. He was still serious and had the will for power and heroics, but he was able to enjoy life, he was able to joke, and just be able to just…be a human, something he thought he gave up years ago with his robotics taking up ninety nine percent of his being.

"King…my Council members…thank you." Geno's said softly, feeling a powerful monster smack him but this time, he didn't budge an inch. "BONFIRE OF THE DAMNED!" Genos roared, as every enemy, even those 'immune' to fire, started to burn, burn in such atomic flame that no level of regeneration could revive them. But as they all dissolved into nothing, Nothingness Thorns shaped like chains latched on to what could possibly remained and brought back ashborn zombies. "KILL THE ENEMIES OF THE KINGDOM!"

The Bard

“Yo ho ho ho~, Yo ho ho ho~.” Brook, the Bard, the Skeleton, the Soul King, the Musician to the King of the Pirates. All titles for the humble musician that walked along, starting his favorite song that he played for his friends and crewmates all the time, and he would play it all the same for his friend’s and Council members as well. As he sang the water that once tormented him due to his Devil Fruit, making him unable to swim and even the slightest touch of sea water would make him useless, turned into his old crew’s…the Straw Hats and the Rumbar Pirates…”Oh the memories…” He sighed in joyous nostalgia, as the water clones of his old musician crew played the accompanying instruments while the Straw Hats readied for battle. “Yo ho ho ho~, Yo ho ho ho…” He sang softly as the sound of growing waves started to grow and grow against the encroaching hoard.

“Sounds like the Tide’s coming in, if I didn’t know better I’d look bone white in fear.” Brook said. “Oh wait, I am Bone White! Yohohoho!” He laughed at his own crappy joke, starting to really let out his joy of Music into his new Guitar, a grand spirit version of himself appearing and rushing at all the enemies as he started to steal their souls without a hint of trouble.

The Highroller

“Watch and be amazed, as I! The Great and Powerful Trixie takes on innumerable odds in the name of our people!” Trixie declared in her performer persona, Fair Game flying around at sonic speeds, doing all sorts of damage to the enemies from slashes, to fucking with their time to the point they either dissolved into dust or returned back to nothing but atoms as time rushed forward or rewinded against the enemies.

Trixie Lulamoon, once a traveling showpony with her stage persona having an Ego the size of a planet, brought down due to people taking her stage performance seriously, to being one of the Kingdom’s highest grossing stage magicians…a simple act of kindness from King, and a pair of magical cards later…the mare couldn’t have been happier. She got to do what she loved, Performing, and while violence still wasn’t really something she liked due to her pacifist pony life, she was ready and willing to slaughter her enemies if it meant protecting her numerous Fans.

She looked over at a recording drone that was broadcasting a livestream to all her loyal fans. “My fans…I thank you, for your devotion and your kindness…this is for you.” She said, raising a hand as a card grew giant with her illusion cutie mark on it, before suddenly tons of fireworks like magic missiles fired from it.

The Death Seeker

Grell was dancing around, happily swinging their beloved Death Scythe through all these monsters, painting the area in a beautiful shade of red…oh how life can change so drastically when you’re given the chance…and some gender swapping magics also helped.

Grell thought back to her own predicament and what they’ve seen in other people…and while her heart broke for those that genuinely suffered the same way she did, even if they were mortal and couldn’t truly fathom the real pain of a soul being stuck in the wrong body, there were those that seeked to abuse such a thing, use it for their own personal gain and to ruin the lives of others because of their own selfishness and…her blood boiled at that thought, cleaving through more and more as they thought about their new life, how King lead them to be what she really was, let herself express herself the way a male body couldn’t…

King was the one she loved the most, and while Sebastian will always hold a special place in her heart…Grell’s King, the dire wolf that helped them be what they truly wanted, and got to express to the world how she really felt now that she was who she was supposed to be…well, King did say ‘later’...

“In the words of one famous individual…” Grell grinned, their chainsaw Graceful Dahlia starting to rev up. “It’s time for Jack to Let’er rip!” She cackled, Graceful Dahlia letting out a roar of its engine and blades as she leaped forward in glee.

The Assassin

Speed of Sound Sonic…was a fool. He knew it, when he learned his ‘ninja skills’ were mere show, his skills were always shown to be great but it ultimately meant nothing in the end…all he wanted, was to prove his superior speed and beat Saitama…to prove he was strong…but it was all for naught when he met King and Joy.

When he became King’s Assassin, he was quick to learn…he was not the fastest, in fact he was slow compared to what he was meant to face against, and when he learned that…he felt small, weak and helpless…but King was there to help, the Dire wolf was there to support him through his depression and helped him learn that he can be better…and just knowing that his training didn’t mean nothing, that there is a way to be better made him devote himself in proving it, to his King, to his Council members…and to himself.

“Come and face The End!” He shouted, vanishing in an instant. “If you can keep up.”

The Berserker

Luxu, the Wanderer, created by the Master of Masters, sent off to abandon his the Foretellers…his best friends, just so he could continue a fucking self fulfilling prophecy that, as he learned quite clearly, got fucked by some really big illegal shit that his reality would be pissed about…but as he crushed a monster’s skull with his bare hand, he realized that here was a lot of thing’s that went horribly wrong for that asswipe.

Luxu was now a loving husband, and a good father to his five children with his wife Time Belle, one of Core’s failed attempts to create a humanoid No Name keyblade…but what was a failed attempt to be a weapon, it was a complete success for making him better…and with King, the depressed but stubborn and kind wolf they were, kept Luxu going, and when King gave him Lunatic…he had a new purpose in life.

Luxu, the Berserker, the one that was on the front lines first destroying anything and everything, but that wasn’t really Luxu, even though he is fueling himself with the unbridled rage of what the Master did, he was methodical in his rage, he was cold, calculating, he was the kind of rage that you didn’t want to fuck with, for he was given a purpose, he was given people to protect, he was given a life…and he’ll be damned if he doesn’t protect them.

The Key

Riku had…a weird life. First it was his life in the Data Realms, living out his life as normal, from his childhood all the way to the end of Kingdom Hearts 3’s DLC…then he woke up, in a new world, his family gone, his progress up in smoke, and being told that he was in a comatose state for over twenty years having been kidnapped by Core…it was…a trying time originally, where he had so much to process that he…had an existential crises.

Then came the first ‘war’ his King had to fight, due to Cript wanting him to learn to use their true powers…then he calmed down, noticing how…simple it really was, to be back in the saddle of using Way to Dawn against Heartless, Nobodies, and all sorts of monsters…his mind felt clear, as he was truly able to process everything…then, he got Sora and Kairi back…his Sora and Kairi…and like two kids in a candy store, he basically had to put body leashes around the two excitable gremlins…and everything finally clicked for him. Even in this new world, in with the current war as he was slaughtering new monsters by the hundreds, he felt right at home.

And he will protect it with all his might.

The King

I swung and swung, I was doing damage, I was hurting Gray…but the more I did, the more it smiled, the more it laughed…each swing felt like I was about to break apart Creation itself, but all this fucker did was take each and every hit with disturbing glee. “Seriously, you're making this really weird!” I growled, hiding my fear from whatever this bastard had in mind.

“This is the first time… In my memory, that I felt something!” They yelled, taking another hit that sent them across lightyears of distance that I closed. Still, despite everything, they kept that smile on them. “You made good on your promise.”

“It’s surprising how some people think I don’t keep my promises.” I frowned. “But yeah, that is…really weird.” I said, throwing out another swing and it slamming him down into the ground hard.

Again, Gray just laughed as they stood back up again. “This is fun.” He said. “My turn.” I used Existence to block their punch. The hit knocked me far, passed the other end of creation, and into the void… A mix of panic and fear washed over me, then replaced an almost numb calm… I’m still alive… I took their impact… and lived… and Existence was looking no worse for ware…

Now I got to laugh as Gray appeared, the two of us surrounded by the void. “You, are officially the first person in my life to survive an impact from me at full strength. Color me impressed.”

“Right…” I said slowly. “Well…shit…I survived, I’m fine, Existence is cool…oh boy…” I thought to myself nervously. “So, that was you at full strength? Love tap.” I said, trying to play up myself being fine but I was rather scared of what this bastard could actually do.

“Yeah, same as yours. And that was without a weapon.” Gray said, their smirk still on their face as I raised my weapon. “Show me that you earned the right to kill me.”

To be continued...
