The End of the Beginning

The New Plan

It was early in the morning of Twilight’s Sparkle’s coronation to become the new ruler of Equestria. A male Unicorn chef was happily making his way over to Canterlot for the big day, when all of a sudden…

“Hey there my Unicorn friend.” A green Unicorn mare said, peeking her head outta a bush. He stopped in his tracks and looked behind, seeing the figure. She stepped out onto the road.

“Have you heard?” She asked.

“About Princess Twilight’s coronation? Who hasn’t? I’m on my way there now.” The mare smiled as she stepped up. “So much baking to do--”

“No, no. About the Earth Ponies.” She whispered. He raised an eyebrow.

“I suppose that their crops have been a tiny bit under performing in comparison but--”

“That’s not it! They’re hoarding the food all for themselves!”

The stallion couldn’t help but laugh in response.

“Oh, you’re funny, mam. They wouldn’t do that.”

“Of course they would!” She continued. “I even heard the mayor of Appaloosa say that if the Unicorns and the Pegasi want to eat, then they can use their own hooves to take.”

“Sorry, but I think you’re getting yourself mocked by some tiny rumors. But I need to make my way over to the city. Those pies aren’t gonna bake themselves!”

The mare growled as her eyes glowed green.

“Fine, then we’ll just see about that, my Unicorn friend…”

Minutes later, the previous Unicorn chef had made his way over to Mrs. Cake. The green mare was peeking above a castle wall, looking down at the two.

“Good morning Mrs. Cake.” He said.

“You too mister.”

“You wanna hear something amusing I came across this morning?” He asked. She nodded. As so, multiple baking ponies had made their way over to the two to hear what he had to say. “So this one mare came up to me and suggested that Earth Ponies where keeping the food all for themselves and for us to rebel against it.” The crowd did in fact start laughing at it. The previous mare looked to the side and blushed in embarrassment.

“That mare’s got some issues that she should really check out.” They all continued laughing at it as the mare growled.

“That’s it!” She started casting her horn green as the crowd’s eyes turned green and their expressions looked hypnotized. She then finished casting the spell upon them. “Much better mind controlling than manipulating them here.”

The crowd then shook their heads and looked at one another, glaring in disgrace of the other’s presence. The Unicorns gathered around one another, as did the Earth Ponies as well.

“You Unicorns with your magic can just make food for yourselves in a second!” Mrs. Cake said.

“All just so you can keep your precious food to your dirty selves? Never!” They all started fighting against one another. The mare laughed.

All of a sudden, a scroll magically came her way and she opened it.

“Chrysalis, where in Equestria are you right now?! Grogar’s gonna be here any second and we need to make our move. Did you finish getting those creatures against one another?” The letter read. Chrysalis then pulled out a pin to respond.

“Don’t worry Cozy, these creatures are too laughable in how much they stand a chance against us. I’m now making my way back to the lair this instant, signed Chrysalis.” She then casted the scroll back to the two waiting for her arrival.

Chrysalis then saw some delicious looking cupcakes though and licked her lips as she was drooling at the sight of the deserts. As she started making her way over to pick them up, a new scroll came down. The thing read the same as the one before and the former Queen sighed.

“Okay! Okay! Jeez…”

About half an hour later, she had finally made it back to the legion of doom. With a smile, she transformed herself back to her natural form as Cozy Glow and Lord Tirek were waiting for her.

“Ah! Chrysalis, another successful field trip I presume?” Tirek asked.

“It took a bit of mind control to do so, but I’m sure that our attack’s open to run free.”

“That little Twilight Sparkle won’t know what hit her!” Cozy said, Chrysalis nodded.

“All now before that is our final forms!” Tirek said. He put the previous stolen book from the Canterlot Archives onto the table to show the two. The centar then made his way over to the wall and blew out one of the many lit up torches upon the wall, then pulling it out and revealing

“Grogar’s Bell! This bell can wield any creature’s magic.”

“So it’s just you but in the form of a bell basically?” Chrysalis asked.

“Well yes I guess. But it holds that magic until it is released by this spell!”

“But,” Cozy said. “Do you have any idea that it has anywhere near enough power for us?

“I checked earlier, and it seems not so.” Tirek answered.

“Then we’ll just need to get some power strong enough.” Chrysalis said.

“I think it’s pretty obvious who to get it from.” Cozy smeared. They all smiled.

Later, the ancient blue goat man Grogar had stepped his way into the lair after many missions away from the lair. There was nothing but sounds of steps and drops of water landing. The main room where all the villains had met though was dark with all the lights off.

“Princess Twilight’s coronation is finally here today,” Grogar said. “And we are going to ruin it,” He pulled a pink jewel out. “With this artifact! But to succeed, you must work together.” He waited for a response, but nothing but the echoes of his voice appeared.

As he took another step forward, some green goo had reached his front hooves. He grunted in response to it. “What the?” He tried to break free, but then the torches were lit up by green flames as the room lit back up and Chrysalis, Cozy Glow and Tirek were there looking at the man.

“What are you three doing?” He demanded. The trio laughed in response.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Tirek asked.

“We’re villains, duh!” Cozy said. They all nodded and before the goat had anytime to take in the realization, they pulled out the bell and casted it to take his magic for themselves, when all of a sudden.

“Huh?” Chrysalis shook the bell. “What’s the meaning of this?”

“But we read the spell more than once.” Tirek mentioned.

“Don’t take the blame on me.” Cozy mentioned. The ancient man then started laughing. The trio growled at him.

“What’s so funny?” Chrysalis asked. He raised his head up.

“You incompetent foals!” He then casted the very same spell to pin the three to the wall as he did many months ago. He made his way out of the goo and up to the stairs where his bell was awaiting himself. As he was making his way up, the three struggled in breaking free.

“I’m the only one who can control the bell. You think that I wouldn't keep a closer eye on you than a mole?” Cozy paused in trying to break free, realizing

“The ball.” She said, looking over to the crystal ball the goat had wielded in being able to see just about anything through it.

“You saw our conversation on Mount Everhoof.” Tirek added.

“Of course. And now my bell has finally returned to me! You three could’ve joined me in taking over Equestria, but from what you three described of your relationship on that mountain, you are all too weak. Not wanting to admit that friendship has affected each and every one of you.” Their faces were in shock.

Chrysalis hissed. “You’ll never get away with this!!”

“But I already have with the three of you.” He then finally grabbed his bell with his hooves as his raw power came outta it and flowed into himself. “Mua ha ha ha ha ha ha! Equestria, here I come…” He started making his way outta the lair.

“Nooooo!” Cozy exclaimed. “No no no no no no no no no!” She shook her head, continuously trying to break free.

“It’s no use, Cozy.” Chrysalis said.

“This is not the end! Not right before we finally got our revenge against Twilight Sparkle.” She put her head down. Chrysalis thought, she had an idea.

“Tirek, on three.” She said, Tirek quickly knew what was going through the woman’s mind. “One,”

“Two,” Tirek said.

“Three!” They both then shot straight at the goat’s horns as he grunted hard in response to a blast from the two. As it was hit, the trio were then free. But Grogar quickly looked back in fast to what just happened. The three were still hung to the wall, just without the yellow and black magic from him, though he was too far away from them to notice it was gone.

“Just wanted to give you a light show on the way out, Master Grogar.” Tirek said. Grogar glared at the two but continued making his way towards his takeover. Chrysalis flew down from the wall and pulled Cozy Glow out of some green goo put on the wall before the goat noticed.

“That was a close one.” Cozy mentioned.

“Indeed, now get me down now too.” Cozy and Chrissy then pulled the centar off the wall.

“What now?” Cozy asked. “It’s impossible now to reach our goals. With Grogar, we’re just not bad enough.” The filly couldn’t help but start sobbing. Tirek and Chrysalis had never seen their pal or frenemy so emotional before. Tirek took a step back and hit Chrysalis.

“Ouch! What was that for?!”

“You literally had a whole hive of children, you’re the best one of us to handle this.”

“I’m not a therapist. Plus, this would make Grogar right. We are not gonna let friendship consume us, especially in this hour.” The Changeling stepped up to Cozy. “Come on, it’s not too late to finish this. Crying isn’t gonna do us anything.”

Cozy wiped away her tears and sniffed. “You’re right. We still need to think of something quickly though.”

“Is there anything we can do to stop him before he makes an appearance to Twilight? Let alone stop him, period?” Tirek questioned.

“Gusty the Great took his bell and hid it. But we’re nowhere near strong enough to.” Chrysalis added.

As they all were in their bubbles of thinking, Cozy’s finally popped with a strange but effective idea. She giggled. Chrysalis and Tirek turned their heads.

“Why the amusement, Cozy?” Tirek asked.

“I think I have the perfect plan.”

“Well, spill it.”

“We’re going to need Princess Twilight and her friends' help for this.” The two expressions turned to horror.

“No! Na uh! Absolutely no way!” Chrysalis said, shaking her head.

“You’ve officially lost your mind.” Tirek said.

“No, temporarily we’ll need her help," I should've said. See, considering how overpowered they and their allies are, we’ll just team up with them temporarily to defeat Grogar with their power, and once that goat’s butt’s taken care of, boomb! We back stab The Lame Six and Equestria will finally be ours!”

Chrysalis’s and Tirek’s previously horrified expressions were now in shock of the plan.

“Cozy Glow, you are a genius!” Chrysalis exclaimed. Tirek looked at the former Queen with a bit his eyebrow raised, she noticed it and cleared her throat.

"But," Tirek said. "Can't we just send the news to them and once Grogar's taken care of we can make our move after?"

"But if we send it without telling her who it's from, she'll think of it as a prank letter and if we send it saying it's from us three then she'll be searching everywhere for us before we can make our move and if we sent it as Starlight Glimmer or whatever friend of theirs then she'll ask them and they'll admit that they know nothing about an invasion, let alone Grogar." Cozy explained.

"I guess so." Tirek replied.

“Plan settled then?" Chrysalis asked. "Become not even frenemies with The Lame Six, just sorta team workers all to get our kingdoms?” Cozy and Tirek nodded in agreement with no second thought.

“Let’s go!” Cozy said, zooming her way outta the liar and to Canterlot with the two following along.

Meanwhile, Princess Twilight was getting prepared for her rise to the throne. In fact, she was sitting on a brand new one in the throne room for her as Celestia and Luna’s were being dragged out of the room.

Spike was holding measuring tape around the Princess’s horn.

“So,” He said. “You’re freaking out yet?”

“About what?” Twilight asked.

“Oh, I don’t know. I mean it’s not everyday that the princesses that have ruled Equestria for many moons retire and then pass on all of the responsibilities onto you and your friends.”

“Oh yeah, that. Actually I’m feeling pretty good. We’ve all faced so much and come out okay. I know that we’re under a lot in becoming the new rulers of Equestria but there’s nothing we can’t handle together.” A reminder had crossed the mare’s mind.

“Which reminds me…” She levitated a box over to the dragon.

Opening it, he had found a medal of some sorts.

“Royal Adviser?” He read. “What’s that for?” Twilight put the medal around his neck and he flew and sat down next to Twilight.

“A new position that I’ve created for you. You’ve been with me for every step of this journey. Knowing I had you gave me the confidence that I needed to succeed. I wouldn’t be here without you.” Spike’s eyes were watering as he ran over and embraced his mother figure.

“Thanks Twilight. You know that I’ll always be your right hoof dragon.”

“I was hoping you’d say that.” Twilight stood from her throne. “Cause now that my crown’s been fitted, we have some royal errands to run.”

Just as the two started flying off, Spike started feeling sickly. He flew down to the floor and started choking.

“Spike?” Twilight turned her head. “What’s wrong?” She hit his back to get whatever was trying to get through him to come out. What came out was a dark scroll.

“Is it a letter from Princess Celestia?” Twilight asked.

“Can’t be, she’s a few rooms away from us. Plus, that scroll’s black instead of tan.” Spike replied.

Twilight Sparkle looked in worry at the thing as she opened it.

“Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle,” She read. “Us Lord Tirek, Cozy Glow and Queen Chrysalis are marching our way to take down all of Equestria once and for all. You and your friends won’t know what hit you, sincerely the legion of doom.” Twilight finished.

“But that doesn’t make a bit of sense.” Spike said. “Cozy and Tirek are interpreted in Tartarus, and how could they have met Chrysalis? Perhaps she freed them? But she has no subjects anymore.”

“Let alone them announcing their plans up front, that’s not how they normally plan any attack.” Twilight added.

“Well, one thing’s for sure, we gotta inform everyone now.”

“Right.” Spike then signed and sent multiple scrolls out to the Pillars, Starlight and the Crystal Empire royal family.

“They’re now on the way.” Spike said. He then noticed Twilight walking back and forth around the room, nervous. “Twily, be calm. We’ve already fought them before. We’ve got this!”

“Sure, we’ve fought them, but not all three. Them being all teamed up means that they could’ve done many other things. Perhaps they have new unstoppable powers.”

“Unstoppable powers?” A certain voice echoed through the room. Twilight and Spike though knew exactly who it was,

“Discord?” Twilight asked. The man had then appeared in the room.

“Don’t you remember who you have on your team?” He asked. Twilight chuckled.

“Yes, you can stop them! This may actually be our easiest victory yet.” She swiped the sweat off her forehead. Then the doors of the throne room had opened, the three turned their heads and they all, even Discord gasped.

“Look at what we found Twily.” Rainbow Dash said. The legion had already been trapped in a gem cage casted from Rarity, and Applejack had them even tied up together in it.

“Aww! The chaos hadn’t even started yet.” Discord said, looking down. Twilight made her way over to the trio.

“We were just finishing up with our errands until we spotted these three sneaking their way into the castle.” Pinkie said, smiling.

“Well well well.” The Princess said. “Couldn’t get take one step into the castle?” She asked.

“To be fair, you guys have really upped the security.” Chrysalis said.

“Ugh! Just get us out of this cramped position.” Tirek grunted.

“Not from what you three were up to.” Applejack replied.

“No!” Cozy continued. “We were coming here to warn you.” Everyone’s faces were intrigued.

“About what?” Rainbow demanded.

“About the coming evasion of Emperor Grogar.” No one in the room aside from one recognized the man’s name.

“The Grogar?” Twilight asked.

“Of course.” Chrysalis answered. “Do you need to get your ears checked out?”

“I know him, just how could he still be around? Gusty the Great had stopped him.”

“Even we don’t know how he returned. But we do know that he’s right now on his way to take back the kingdom.” Cozy said. Twilight considered believing them for a moment, but

“You three have manipulated us before.” She said.

“Disguising as a Princess to feed on our love,” Rarity said.

“Promising a better future,” Discord said to Tirek.

“And sending us to an inescapable prison.” Twilight ended. The trio felt conflicted over all the mentions of their actions.

“Fine.” Cozy finally replied. “Go ahead then.” She dared. “Just lock us up and just see your beloved kingdom fall before your little pony eyes in terror all because you couldn’t bear to listen!”

As they were all thinking, Spike finally stepped up and said,

“We’ll see, we’ll lock you three up in the dungeon down there for now, and if you three are telling the truth about this Grogar guy, we’ll free you and you’ll have to help us defeat him.”

“And if you aren’t telling us reality,” Twilight sighed. “Then we’ll have to imprison you three into stone.”

Everyone in the room, even Discord gasped at what Twilight considered. The trio's faces turned to fear.

“Us, entrapped in stone?” Cozy shivered. Spike put his hand up to Twilight, looking at her.

“Twily, don’t you think that that’s a step too far?” He asked.

“It is, but they’ve already committed so much.” She said out loud.

“Excuse me Princess?!” Chrysalis exclaimed. “Then explain to me how come we kept trying to get our revenge on you all, huh? You were the ones who benefited from our attacks with no long lasting problems for you all whatsoever.”

“She’s got a good point.” Fluttershy said, looking at Twilight, but mostly to Discord behind the mare as he nodded at Flutter’s consideration. Twilight finally decided.

“Okay, we’ll just have to see what the three of you have to show.” Cozy nodded in agreement.

“Thank you, Twilight Sparkle.” She said.

As Twilight’s friends turned around, making their way to the prison... Cozy Glow smirked...
