Chapter 4: Just cause

Chapter 4: Just cause

As Zeke walked to get some food for the group, he stops and notices the TV giving a special report on another flash of light. He wonders if this is the one from before but realizes it’s another one based on the light of flash’s color.

“Hm... I wonder what’s going on all over there,” he said.

He simply ignored it, thinking it was just the report of light that came down earlier and simply went to the store real quick and quickly headed back to the rooftop. Meanwhile, Cole wonders what the strange Pegasus was doing in this world.

“I wonder if this Pegasus was a regular horse before getting caught in the blast and somehow acquired powers.” He then said; “No that’s not possible.  I’m sure I’ve never seen a horse around all of Empire City.  Maybe it teleported to this planet after all.”

All of a sudden, Zeke quickly broke through the door and yelled to Cole.

“Hey Cole. Turn on the TV!  Something big just happened!”

Cole grabbed the TV remote and turned on the power button.  He saw that another flash of light has hit Empire City, this time it was an ominous black and red light.

“Oh no... It can’t be,” said Cole. “What Cole?  What’s the matter?” Zeke asked.

”Zeke… stay here.  I think it’s the Beast and I’m going to fight it now.”

“Are you serious?! You can’t fight it now!” Zeke yelled.

“Look, I know my chances of defeating the beast are slim at best but I got to try my best and hope for the best.  Now you stay here and keep an eye out for the Pegasus.  You got that?”

Zeke just stood there baffled by what Cole just said and said, “Ok then brother, but don’t you dare die on me, you hear?”

“I won’t,” said Cole; He headed to the site and quickly jumped from the rooftop and ran for it.

~Meanwhile, in Equestria~

“Ok Spike. We checked all the spots that the machine teleporter had, and still no sign of her!” said a freaked out Twilight Sparkle.

“Calm down Twilight.  Let’s not throw ourselves in a frenzy,” said Spike.

“We’re running out of options Spike. I guess I have no choice but to ask Princess Celestia.”

“That seems to be the most reasonable thing to do Twilight,” replied Spike.

Twilight and Spike walked from the area they were in and headed back to Ponyville .  From there, they headed out to Canterlot to seek Princess Celestia’s help and advice, hoping that Twilight Sparkle can find a way to know the location of Derpy Hooves and to quickly get her home.

~Meanwhile, in Empire City~

“I’ve got to hurry.  There’s no telling what that damn monster might do when it’s ready to unleash its power!”
Cole realizes he’s too late and sees what not appears to be the beast, but is actually a new conduit before his own eyes.

“Oh no.”

The conduit did not appear friendly, and from what Cole could tell from its eyes, it wasn’t friendly and only wanted havoc and destruction.

“You better stay out of my way electric man.  Now that I have fully harnessed my powers, I will seek nothing but destruction for this poor, run-down city.”

“I hope you’re joking.  You look like you don’t even pose a threat to anybody, you poor slob.”

Cole was right.  The conduit looked liked he was a poorly dressed local drunk, and his facial features were nothing good to compare.
“Silence!” the conduit said.  “You have yet to see what I am truly made off!”

He demonstrated his powers by lifting all the rubble to where Cole was at.

“Crap!” screamed Cole.  He could tell the conduit meant business from his power and anger.

“So your powers can let you use telekinesis, huh?”

“No.  I have wind based powers you fool; I can control the wind at my own disposal and see how I use it fit.”
“Heh.  Bad choice of a power to have,” Cole said in a prideful voice.  “You see, I have the power to use electricity at my disposal, and seeing how electricity does fairly good against wind, I say I have the upper hand.”

The conduit just stood there and proceeded to laugh at Cole.

“Hahahaha! You truly are a fool.  I already knew you had electricity powers, so why do you think I’m not afraid of you? I have something that might surprise you! See all those rocks around you? They’re’ set up to stop you watch!”

The conduit used his powers on the debris, surrounding Cole  with  debris and trapping him like a mummy in a tomb.

“What the?” said a confused Cole.

Cole tried shaking free, but was wrapped around in dirt, debris, and other sorts.  He struggled to the point he couldn’t move his arms or hands freely to call out his own powers.

“Damn it!  I’m trapped!  Guess this guy really means business then.”

“Giving up so soon Cole McGrath?  As soon as I’m done with you, I think I’ll pay a visit to your fat friend Zeke, and that Pegasus I saw you carry back to your place.”

“And what plans do you have with the Pegasus? She hasn’t done anything wrong to you!”

“True Cole, but that Pegasus might have conduit powers, and I can’t have a new threat like her get in my way of destruction! So I plan on killing her!”

Cole just stood there, fazed at what the conduit just said.  ‘Why would anybody wanna harm the poor defenseless Pegasus?’ he asked himself.

“Well Cole...  It’s been nice chit chatting,” said the wind conduit.  “But you know I must kill you!”
He used his powers to pick up a few shards of glass from the floor around him and  aimed them at Cole’s face.
“Damn it!  I can’t move for crap!” Cole yelled.

The wind conduit just stood there laughing like a maniac, happy that he will soon get rid Cole McGrath on their first and final battle.  Suddenly…

“AHHH!” The conduit yelled.

“You stop hurting my friend, you hear?” said a voice.
“Damn it to hell!  Who can that be now?”

It was Zeke.  He arrived with help from the local police in the Neon District, and they all were armed with guns shooting at the conduit with everything they got.

“Damn it.  I can’t believe this!” said the conduit.  “I can just redirect the damn bullets! But that will distract me from killing Cole!  Ah, to hell with this!”

The conduit decided to retreat, seeing as how he was being shot at from everywhere and he wasn’t immune to bullets.
“I’ll be back, Cole McGrath! I’ll kill you and all your friends, you hear me!”

The wind conduit retreated, flying far away from the fight scene. The police were baffled by the new conduit’s power and posed a threat to Empire City. Meanwhile, Zeke helped Cole from his battle.

“Damn it. I can’t believe I almost let myself get killed!” said an angry Cole.

“Easy there, big timer.  You don’t want to bust an artery, know do you?”

“Zeke.  He’s after us and the Pegasus.  If he knows where our hideout is, he’ll kill her.  We have to get back to the rooftop before he finds her!”

“Worry not Cole.  That freak doesn’t know where our hideout is, trust me.  Also, we have the police and citizens on our side.  Besides, look who just woke up.”
