Nothing More, Right?

Chapter 6

The next day, everything wen’t fine, Sunset showed Sunburst around, and told him she was Flanksy. He loved the rainbow colored art, and marveled at everything that didn’t exist in Equestria.

Then it all came to a stop on the ninth of February when principal Celestia showed up in town square. Sunburst’s mouth dropped when he saw Celestia, she looked and sounded like her, but wasn’t a pony alicorn princess at all.

“Why hello Sunset, what are you up to?”

“I’m showing Sunburst around.”

“A friend from Equestria I presume?”

“I’m her twin brother, nice to meet you.” Sunburst smiled at her.

“You have a twin brother?” She stared at Sunset. “Why haven't you told me that before?”

“It felt a little weird seeing that...”

“I’m guessing you never got to go home and visit?”

“Yep, pretty much sums it up.”

“Well, you can talk to me, anyway, nice to meet you Sunburst.”

“Nice to meet you to prin- Celestia.” Sunburst walked a little way’s away to go look at on of his sister’s pieces of art.

“Seem’s interested in the art over there.”

“Yhea...”

“Sunset, are you aware that Flash still has a massive crush on you?” It was a strait up question out of the blue. “I’m asking as a friend, not your principal.”

“What makes you think that?”

“Well, have you noticed him acting strange?”

“No.”

“Sunset, I was doing a lecture in his history class and the whole time he was staring out the window at the other side of the school, where you were in class at that time, and I have a feeling...”

“That I like him to.” She finished. “Were just friends, nothing more, right?”

“I think you two need to have an actual one on one conversation.”

“We’ve talked.”

“I’m pretty sure you both just say hi and leave.”

“Your right, we do, but I just don’t wan’t to go at anything like that right now, I think I’ll stick to showing Sunburst around.”

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow at school Sunset.”

“Bye Celestia.”

What the heck did she mean by that? Was she implying...no, not happening. Just friends, nothing more, nothing less, right? Sunset looked over at Sunburst who had just confused Mrs. Cake beyond belief when he asked for oats on his ice cream. She walked over to the counter. “Hey Mrs. Cake, this is my twin brother, Sunburst.”

“Ooh, ya know, that makes much more sense now, since he’s you're brother, he’s visiting from Equestria, isn’t he?” Mrs. Cake had a bit of a Canadian accent, which made really anyone feel welcome at Sugar Cube Corner. She handed Sunburst his ice cream, (without oats).

Sunburst went to a table but Sunset stayed behind. “So how are the cake twins doing? I hear it was there first birthday a few weeks ago.”

“Oh there doing great derie, except for when they pored flour in the bathtub and turned it on.”

“Let me guess, it turned into a big blob?”

“Then hardened into cement, I don’t know what where going to do with those two.”

“They sound more energetic than Pinkie.”

“Oh they are! I hear you are good with kids, could you watch them for me tomorrow? It may be short notice but Pinkie Pie is busy and me and Mr. Cake need to go out of town.”

“Sure, I can watch them. Hey Sunburst, what was that stuff our dad used to give us?”

Sunburst thought for a moment. “Kumquat?”

“That’s it, are they allergic to anything?”

“No, but what’s kumquat gonna do?”

“When we were little we got into just as much trouble as the cake twins, my dad used to give us one and for hours we couldn’t be more calm, really that was the only thing that I did that my mom actually liked.”

“Thank’s for the tip, so you planning on doing anything this week?” Sunburst watched as his sister became more engaged in the conversation and laughed along with Mrs. Cake when Mr. Cake came running out of the kitchen with one twin hanging on to his foot and another giggling on top of his head.

Sunset and Sunburst’s left a little while later. “So, Sunset, you are really happy here, aren't you?”

“Yep.”

“Does this world have heart’s and hooves day?”

“Sort of, it’s on the same day here, but it’s called valentines day.”

“Are there any other’s like that?”

“There’s Christmas instead of Heart’s Swarming, and a few others, but I’ve gotten used to this worlds holiday traditions, have you met Ray?”

“That dragon that Spike’s friends with?”

“Yeah, and guess what?”

“What?”

“He’s my pet leopard gecko when he’s here, and he don't talk.”

“Seriously?”

“Crazy, right?” They both laughed.

“It’s nice to finally see you again Sunset, the whole reason I moved to the crystal empire in the first place was to find you, I thought you had left to find out more about our family history.”

“I can’t believe that Cadence is actually a distant cousin and our grandfather was lucky enough to escape from Sombra.”

“Technically he was visiting Cantorlot when he was told the Crystal empire was gone and desided to move to shier’s hallow and start a family, so were part crystalline on our dad’s side.”

“That would explain why my eyes are a different shape from everyone else’s, also, when did you become so smart?”

“When I left to become a student at the school of magic and couldn’t find you!”

“So you dropped out and moved to the crystal empire.”

“To find you, I spent most of my life trying to track you down!”

“Yet you found me by accident.”

“Hey Sunset?”

“Yeah?”

“Why do you look like your a little shorter than everyone else?”

“I was one of those small kids, it’s not to noticeable now but you just proved that it can.”

“eh, so your watching the twin’s tomorrow?”

“Yep.”

“Are you sure you won’t end up dead?”

“Nope.”

“Your answering these question’s like Big Mac does.”
