Interlude - Flashback: The Great Darkness/A New Nightmare pt1

Equestra, the normally peaceful land, ruled by four alicorns had long since became a land of death and despair. It had became a mere shadow of it's former self. Normally the land would be ruled by four princesses but now, the princesses were scattered. Luna had long since fell prey to the Nightmare once again, Celestia was nowhere to be found and Cadence had the Crystal Empire to run and protect from the Changeling forces. So, it fell on the shoulders of the youngest of the four alicorns, Twilight Sparkle, to keep the country together. However, that was quite difficult to do when she was the only Element of Harmony left.

Over the course of the long war against the darkness, the elements of harmony had shattered. Rainbow Dash was nowhere to be seen, Fluttershy had become an occult leader for the Smooze, Pinkie; or rather, Pinkamena had succumb to the madness that plagued her very blood, Applejack was also missing, and Rarity became a shadow of her former self. That only left, Twilight Sparkle. Yes, she was a princess alicorn, just like the other three alicorns but she differed from them. She was a vampony. However, even with her near immeasurable power, she was still only one mare against the darkness. She had been corrupted a few times during the war, so the ponies actually held a certain amount of fear whenever she arrived on a scene. The fear, nay how small, never went unnoticed by the vampire. It always hurt her whenever she seen the fear in her subjects' eyes. The ponies she had became good friends with all those years ago.

Being a vampire, Twilight required a certain amount of blood every month but she never retrieved said blood from just anypony. No, she had one specific pony she got her monthly feeding from. Her marefriend and soon to be wife, Willomena Christine Pie, or Weepy Cry to her friends. She was the unicorn counterpart to that of Pinkamena from another universe. She had first arrived in Twilight's universe through her Queen, Dragon Slayer, who had taken the form of Princess Celestia. When Twilight met the queen, who was still in the form of Princess Celestia, Twilight had no reason to doubt what she was seeing. In her mind, she was seeing her beloved mentor and mother figure. Although, something about the alicorn's demeanor raised several red flags. She was cold, cruel, and borderline tyrannical but Twilight merely brushed it off as a result of the war they were locked in.

After revealing to her mentor about her vampirism, the older alicorn stated she would not shun the young vampire away nor harm her for having the vampirism, much to both Twilight's surprise and relief. However, before the vampire could voice her thanks, the queen's horn lit and with a pop of magic, a pink unicorn had appeared next to the queen's side, kneeling. Twilight had stared at the new mare, wondering just who it could be. The pink unicorn looked a little familiar but she couldn't place the looks. Her eyes scanned the kneeling mare's body, taking in the sight of numerous scars, including over her flanks as if the scars themselves were the mare's cutie mark. Twilight had opened her maw to ask who the mare was but again, before she was able to ask. it was like the queen knew what was on her mind before she voiced it. "This is my servant, Willomena Christine Pie. I have no more need of her. Thus, I bestow her upon you, Twilight Sparkle, as a blood bank." The queen had answered in a leveled tone, completely deprived of emotion. At first, Twilight was shocked Celestia would offer a living pony to her as nothing more than a source of food. Then, Twilight reluctantly accepted her new blood bank after Celestia had spoke with such logic, one would believe it came from Twilight herself. Celestia had inquired that Twilight must have blood or else she'd die and instead of attacking other ponies in a blood thirst, she'd have her personal blood bank.

Over the course of time, Twilight had learned Willomena Christine Pie or Weepy Cry for short, was the unicorn counterpart of her dear friend Pinkie Pie. The pink unicorn's demeanor was very similar to that of Fluttershy's, very timid but ten times worse. She was extremely timid, almost submissive. Of course that demeanor of her's, Twilight didn't enjoy. IT just didn't sit right with the alicorn but she filed it away for later. Over the course of time, Weepy and Twilight had grown increasingly close. Beyond that of princess and subject. Vampire and blood bank. Finally the day had came when Twilight had confessed her romantic feelings for the pink mare, in which the timid unicorn wholeheartedly returned in kind. The pink unicorn had been moved to tears when Twilight confessed, believing nopony would ever have such feelings towards her.

Every month, the timid unicorn would let Twilight feed on her blood, which always ended with a rather steamy night following the feeding session. It was something neither mare had any complains about. Of course, it didn't even have to be feeding time for the vampire and Weepy would offer her neck and blood to the vampire. Most of the time, Twilight gladly accepted without question but on rare occasions, mainly if the alicorn had her hooves full with something important, Twilight would turn the offer for blood down. Whenever she turned the blood down, Weepy would always pout but never pressured the vampire into feeding from her.

After little over a year of being together, Twilight had asked Weepy Cry to marry her, in which said unicorn accepted quite enthusiastically by releasing a loud squeal, which was uncharacteristic of her, given how soft the mare spoke. With the uncharacteristically loud squeal, Twilight had been tackled hard by the pink mare, who buried her head into Twilight's chest, which muffled the unicorn's words. Or, rather, word since it was one word the excited unicorn was speaking, rapidly repeating it. Yes. Twilight, after recovering from the sudden tackle blushed and smiled sheepishly, instantly having flash backs of the day she received her cutie mark. She bounced in circles, repeating the word yes over and over again. Just as Weepy was now doing into her chest as she lay on top of the alicorn.

Not long after Twilight asked Weepy's hoof in marriage, the vampire had been corrupted for the first time during the war. Discord had tricked her into getting close to what she believed to be him as a statue. Once she got close enough, Discord unleashed his spell, placing a curse mark upon her. An eight sided chaos star. His personal mark. The curse took effect as soon as the mark had formed on her chest. The spell transformed the vampire in mere moments, into a beast that had from flank down was a snake and from flank up, the body of a pony. It transformed her into Equestria's first and only Lamia. Discord used his curse on Twilight to unleash her against the elements of harmony.

With a single order, the lamia Twilight sped off with unnatural speeds, in search of her first victim, which came in the form of Pinkamena Diane Pie, who was locked in the bakery of Sugar Cube Corner. The lamia Twilight attacked without warning, taking the pink earth mare off guard. Their battle soon exited into the streets of ponyville with the pink mare fleeing for her life but the chaos imbued Twilight was faster. With a burst of speed, the lamia lashed out, catching the pink mare in her coils. The lamia coiled around the pink mare tightly and was about to crush her when a blast of magic shot through the air, striking Twilight in the head, knocking her back and forcing her to release her prey from her coils.

The lamia recovered from the sudden magical blast quickly, lifting her pony half high in the air as she hissed in anger. Her slitted pupils glared down at the one who dared attack her and causing her to lose her prey. It was a white unicorn stallion with a blue and white two toned mane and tail, bearing a kite shield for a cutie mark. The lamia's eyes shot wide in surprise at her brother standing before her. Shining Armor called out to his sister, in which the lamia just hissed like the snake she was. With a vow that he'd free her of the corruption, he lunged at his corrupted sister. While Shining flung spell after spell at his sister, he called out to Pinkamena, telling her to run. With hesitation, she soon turned and fled, leaving Shining Armor to deal with his sister.

The two had fought furiously but the battle ultimately concluded with Twilight's victory. Shining Armor lay before the lamia, bloody and lifeless. Giving the stallion a glance she hissed and took off again, in search of her prey. What stopped the Lamia and cured Twilight, was when Weepy had seen her in Ponyville square, searching for her prey. Weepy had called out to the lamia and when Twilight laid eyes on the pink unicorn, her chaos imbued mind slowly cleared up, allowing the alicorn's old self to come to the surface. Once Twilight's mind was cleared, she managed to use her magic to expel the chaos magic from her body completely.

The next time she had been corrupted was when Queen Dragon Slayer, who Twilight finally managed to dispel the illusion that made her look like Celestia, summoned her servant from her world into Equestria. However, in order for her servant to exist in Equestria, it had to take up residence inside a pony or creature. Dragon Slayer had managed to weaken Twilight in order for her servant to take over Twilight's body and mind, transforming her into a being known as Great Black Sparkle. Dragon Slayer had order Great Black Sparkle to hunt down and kill any who opposed a threat to her. Sparkle carried out said orders without hesitation. She killed anypony or creature she felt was or would be a threat to her queen. Amongst those she had killed were Big Macintosh, Mayor Mare, Sweetie Belle, Applebloom, and Scootaloo.

However, when Great Black Sparkle came across Weepy Cry, a memory from Twilight's mind told the servant who this pony was. Black Sparkle attacked, wanting the puny pony to lie dead at her hooves. Weepy dodged strike after strike, trying to call out to Twilight but her words fell on deaf ears as her controlled marefriend managed to strike her across her left side, sending her flying into a nearby building. Weepy laid there, eyes locked on her corrupted marefriend, who slowly strolled over to her with a twisted smirk adoring her maw, Black Sparkle had lifted her massive sword above her head and swung down. intending on ending the foolish unicorn. However, her sword stopped inches away from Weepy's head as Black Sparkle dropped her weapon and gripped her head, crying out in pain. Twilight's voice echoed around the two, stating no one will harm her beloved. When the voice faded, black smoke rolled from Twilight's eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. The smoke rose into the air a little before disapating into nothing. Once again, it was Weepy Cry who cured Twilight of her corruption.

As time went on, Twilight increasingly heard a faint voice in her head but she ignored it, or tried to anyway. It was a faint voice. Once Twilight wasn't able to make out but the faint whispering that plagued her mind had begun irritating her greatly. She tried reading books about what she had been experiencing but to no avail. She wanted to ask Celestia about it but the princess had been missing for an alarming amount of time, so Celestia was out of the question. Luna most likely would have had an answer but unfortunately, Luna had succumbed to her Nightmare once again. So, Luna was a no go. The vampire would have to just figure it out on her own. However, her quest to figure out what the voice in her head was had to wait. It was that time of the month for the mare. The burning in the back of her throat was the signal she needed. It was time to feed.

Twilight stood in the royal library within the castle of the two sisters, scanning the ancient books for the answer to her voice in her head question when the burning in her throat flared, causing her to drop the tome she currently held aloof in her magic. The vampire gulped and licked her lips as she turned and took flight, rocketing into the sky through a hole in the roof of the castle. The alicorn flew at speeds impossible for normal pegasi, speeding towards her home in ponyville. However, she came to a screeching halt, hovering in mid air as she stared below her at a bloody body. Her eyes widened as she recognized the bloody pony. It was Pinkamena. She was covered in gashed and laid in a pool of her own blood.

Twilight dropped from the sky by tucking her wings to her side. The height she dropped would have killed a normal pony but she was as far from a normal pony as one could get. She landed with a loud thud on her hooves, causing the ground she land on to sink in a little, forming a small crater but Twilight was completely unphased by the drop. Twilight rushed to her friend's side and felt for a pulse, which she was able to locate a faint one. She was still alive. All Twilight had to do, was heal her wounds but healing magic was categorized as Light or Holy magic, which was one of a vampire's major weaknesses. However, Twilight instantly started casting healing spells without hesitation. she didn't care if the magic she was casting would cause her great harm. She was determined to heal her friend, no matter the cost.

As the alicorn channeled the light magic into the bloody earth pony, her dark lavender fur began slowly catching fire. By the time her spell ended, the alicorn dropped to the ground groaning in pain. Her body was littered with scorch marks as if she had been pelted by several fire balls. Her horn's tip had become a scorching black. The holy magic had did a great number on the vampire but she didn't care. She did it to save a friend. Pinkamena groaned a bit as she awoke, blinking her eyes open, as she sat up. Peering around her in confusion before her eyes fell on the vampire groaning in pain with scorch marks and patches of fur missing laying beside her. With a gasp, the pink mare rushed to her friend's side, lifting her head and cradled it. "Twilight! Are you alright? What happened?" The pink mare questioned in a panic. She had never seen such a thing befall her friend before and it actually scared her. Her eyes trailed over the dark lavender mare's body, taking in all the scorch marks. It looked like somepony had purposely used some type of fire magic as a means to torture the vampire.

The alicorn opened her eyes to peer up at her friend who cradled her head. It would seemed her healing spell worked, despite the damage it had done to her own body. Of course, her accelerated healing would take care of all the damage she took from her spell. With a kind smile, she stood up. By the time she stood, her wounds had already healed. Turning to her pink friend, she nodded. "I'm fine, pinks. Just me using healing spells is a double edged sword to me now." She explained, giggling softly as Pinkamena sighed and stood up. "Well, thanks for the heal but don't ever put your self in danger for me again, got it? Or else I'll kill you." The pink mare spoke shooting a death glare at the vampire, in which Twilight grinned sheepishly.

Pinkamena then stretched, standing on her hind legs before she turned towards ponyville. Her eyes narrowed as she seemed to growl low in anger. "Now, time to pay that bastard back." She hissed and pulled a butcher knife from her mane, brandishing it in her right hoof. "Pay who ba--" The vampire began to ask but was cut off as she dropped to the ground with her left front hoof placed against her throat. Pinkamena turned, curious as to what happened when she seen Twilight on the ground groaning and rubbing her throat. "Twi? What's up?" She asked in mild concern for her friend. Twilight gulped as she stood back up, a bit wobbly. "I-I was on my way back...to meet Weepy at home....b-because it's...th-that time for me..." She explained as the pink mare arched a brow for a moment before giving a nod. By her friend's actions a second ago, she already figured out what she meant. "It doesn't look like you'll make it back in time before it gets to you. So, only this once, I'll let you feed on me." The earth mare chimed with a small smile. Twilight blushed a bit but nodded in turn. Normally, she would have refused but she knew she'd never make it home in time.

Pinkamena strolled over to the vampire, who stood on on her hind legs and wrapped her front hooves and bat wings around the pink mare, who tilted her head to the left, revealing the right side of her neck to her friend. With a bit of hesitation, the dark lavender mare sank her fangs into the pink mare's neck, which escalated a sudden cry of pain from the her. Twilight pulled her friend close as she began her feeding, causing soft moans to escalate from the pink mare. The vampire didn't need much, just a few mouth fulls, to sate her thirst. The entire time, Pinkamena quivered and moaned as her friend drained her blood. Twilight had once told of her friends that it would be quite...intense if they ever allowed her to feed on them but she never needed to do such a thing because she always had her marefriend.

After a moment, the vampire released her friend's neck but kept ahold of her because she could see the pink mare was a bit wobbly and would fall if she had let go. Pinkamena stood in her friend's grip, panting heavily before peering at the vampire. "W-wow....t-that was...intense..." She chimed between her panting. While she waited for her friend to become stable once again, Twilight leaned in and gave her neck, right where she had bit, a gentle lick, which healed the bite instantly. Not expecting such an action, the pink mare tensed up and shot a look at the vampire. "Wh-what was that?" She asked carefully as she slowly sat down, which Twilight helped so she wouldn't fall. "Vampony's saliva heals wounds." Twilight explained with a giggle as her friend nodded.

Twilight stood there, watching her friend as she waited to see if she'll be alright. This had been the first time she had ever fed from one of her friends, so she wanted to make sure she didn't take to much. After a moment, Twilight gasped loudly as she dropped to the ground with her right front hoof pressed against her head. "A-Ahh..!" She cried out as her eyes closed tightly. Pinkamena's eyes flew wide at seeing her friend in what seemed to be pain. "Twilight! What's wrong?!" She cried out as she rushed over to her friend's side, by now having recovered enough as to not worry about falling. Something was terribly wrong but she didn't know what. For one, she could see an eerie black smoke starting to bellow up from her friend's mane and tail.

Hearing her friend's voice, Twilight's eyes popped open to look at the pink mare. Pinkamena wasn't sure what was going on because that one look seemed to grip her very soul and paralyze her in fear. Twilight's eyes had became an eerie jet black and to look into them would be like peering into the abyss itself. The eyes wasn't the only change that was happening to her friend. Pinkamena noticed the vampire's fangs seemed to growl longer and sharper, while a demonic set of armor seemed to materialize on her body. An armor similar to Nightmare Moon's only much more sinister. Her mane and tail became nothing but pure black smoke, bellowing behind her. Standing up, the vampire growled a low, feral growl as the same smoke her mane and tail were made of seemed to bellow up from her wings and her coat had became a a couple shades darker.

Pinkamena slowly stepped back, fear slowly washed over the mare as she kept her gaze locked on her transformed friend. The change was sudden and unexpected, frightening if she were being frank. It was similar to princess Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon but on a more sinister and frightening level. She gulped in fear and opened her maw, ready to call out to her friend but was cut off when the thing that used to be her friend threw her head back and began laughing a loud, sinister laugh. "Ahahaha! Finally!" The entity called out in a twisted voice that sounded like two voices speaking at once, grinning a wide, fanged grin. Snapping her abyssal gaze to the fearful mare, she licked her long fangs. "I owe it all to you. I could taste the darkness in your blood when Twilight fed from you." The demon explained as she slowly strolled towards the pink mare, who was staring wide eyed. "That darkness is what gave me a life of my own! My name is Ruby Obsidia and I'm going to turn this world into a world of fear!" She called out before releasing another sinister laugh.

With a massive flap of her wings, the demon shot into the air at impossible speeds. Only the echo of her sinister laugher was heard as she vanished into the night sky. Pinkamena dropped her knife and fell to her knees, staring wide eyed at the sky where her friend had disappeared. "I-I helped create another Nightmare moon....What have I done?" She spoke aloud to herself, shaken by the turning events. There were already too many dark entities roaming Equestria and she, herself, just helped unleash another one. With the power she felt radiate off the demon, she could very well be stronger than Nightmare Moon and Dragon Slayer. She wasn't entirely sure about Discord but the two alicorns, there wasn't a doubt in her mind, Ruby was indeed the strongest. And unlike Nightmare Moon, Dragon Slayer, and Discord, Ruby didn't seem to want the throne of Equestria. She mentioned making the world one of fear but Pinkamena wasn't entirely sure what she meant about that exactly. She'd just have to wait and see, which could be both a good idea and bad idea.

Picking up her knife, Pinkamena stood and slowly strolled off towards her bakery in town. Her gaze was locked on the ground in front of her as she made her way back, her mind reeling. She just turned her friend into a demonic vampire and she wasn't sure how to cure her or if she even can be cured. The elements were out of the question, due to one being dead, one being transformed into a demon and the others scattered. She had no magic, except her unicorn horn necklace but she knew she didn't have the magic within them to match Ruby. Yes, she had a few horns on it but they were still just unicorn horns. She stood no chance against Ruby if she were just an alicorn alone but she was a vampire on top of that. The vampire would kill her before she fired off a single spell. That's when her eyes widened as an idea popped in her mind. It was a long shot but she had to try something. With the idea in mind, she broke into a gallop, heading straight into town and for the one pony that was the closest to Twilight's heart. Her unicorn counterpart, Weepy Cry. If anypony stood a chance at curing Twilight, it was Weepy Cry.
