Does He Still Love Me

Epilogue

The bellow of the trains whistle sounds cuts through the morning fog, as the train pulls into Ponyville station. Dusk awakens to the whistles call, looking over to Blitz he noticed Blitz still sleep through the whole whistle. Dusk pulls his wing from under Rainbow’s side, releasing Blitz’s tail from his own as he stood in front of Rainbow. Slowly he inches his hoof closer to Blitz’s nose, giving him a slight boop before lightly shaking the stallion in a futile attempt to wake him up.

“Come on Blitzie we’re home, you don’t want to be left on the train to travel to Solaris knows where do you.” Blitz didn’t budge causing Dusk to slightly scowl as he pondered for a solution, a devious smile forms on Dusk’s face as he inches forward. Dusk lightly pulls Blitz’s chin up with a small light of his horn, closing the small gap Dusk places the tenderest of kisses on Blitz’s muzzle, only to intensify the passion as the seconds passed. Blitz’s eyes shoot open, as he pushes back into the kiss fighting Dusk for dominance finally breaking apart for breath.

“What’s...with the whole...morning make out session.” Blitz pausing as he tries to catch his breath, finally regaining his ability to speak Rainbow looked up at Dusk who wore a big dumb grin on his muzzle. “Not that I’m complaining of course...it’s just you haven’t kissed me like that in a while.” Rainbow wore a crimson mask, his face from the tips of his ears to cheeks were completely saturated in a dark red hue.

Taking a deep breath Dusk returned to his seat next to Rainbow Blitz, his eyes staring directly at the train cabins floor. Just as Dusk was about to speak, a booming voice was heard from outside the door as the door to their cabin swung open a large beige stallion stood tall, with what seemed to be an extremely tight fitting conductors vest over his front hoof and draped over the large stallions back.

“Didn’t you two hear that whistle, the trains arrived at the Ponyville station.” His strong baritone voice rang through the trains empty cabins, yet his voice wasn’t angry he only had a curiosity for the stallions still remaining on the train.

“I’d like to apologize, Blitz and I didn’t mean to stay this long and hold the train schedule up.”

“That’s quite alright Prince Dusk Shine, anytime we’re even graced with the presence of a Prince of Equestria and a fellow Element of Harmony it’s always an honour.” The stallion bowed at the hooves of the two stallions.

“Hey enough with the bowing, it’s not really Dusk’s thing he just wants to be treated like a regular pony...we’ll leave the train soon, but do you think you could give us a minute.”

“Of course you two can stay a few minutes more, we don’t have our next scheduled train ride for another hour.” The large stallion trotted from the cabin closing the door behind him, giving the two stallions some privacy.

“Rainbow, why did you ask him if we could stay?”

“You were about to say something before he came in, and I know how you get, if I don’t make you tell me now you never will.”

“Oh right, it’s about the kiss we just had...you said you didn’t remember the last time we kissed like that. The truth is you’re right Blitzie, I don’t remember the last time I’ve kissed you like that either. And thinking about that made me realize even more how right you are, I’ve been completely ignoring you putting my job as being a Prince of Equestria before or relationship and our friendship.” A single tear slides down Dusk’s face, only to be wiped away with a light lick to his cheek.

“No need to cry Dusk, you don’t need to punish yourself I know you’ve got a job to do now with you being a Prince and all...I think I just went overboard a little. It was just hard for me we never talked anymore, it just seemed like my feelings didn’t matter.”

“I know Blitzie, I’ve not been the greatest stallionfriend or the best friend for that matter. I just got so wrapped up in being a Prince of Equestria I just forgot my first job, which is to always be there for you.”
“How about this Dusk instead of you complaining about you being a crummy stallionfriend let’s make a deal, I promise to start speaking my mind more about my feelings with you. If you’ll put aside a few hours a day for us to spend together.”

“I like that idea Blitz, let’s go home.” Blitz draped a wing around Dusk’s withers, their tails intertwined with one another as they trotted home into the morning sunrise.

“It seems young Dusk Shine has learned a very valuable lesson wouldn’t you agree Arty.”

“Tis the grandest lesson Dusk Shine has learned about friendship yet, he deserveth the time he requested to spend with thy stallionfriend.”

“I couldn’t agree more Arty, I’ll send him a letter immediately wouldn’t want him to worry to much.” Solaris said with a smile, levitating a inkwell, parchment and quill towards him with a glow of his horn as he began writing.

A small flash of light formed around Dusk’s horn as a scroll materialized from thin air, opening the letter he began to read.

 My Dearest Dusk Shine,
You’re more than welcome to spend the needed time with your stallionfriend, while it is important to learn the basics of ruling Equestria you’re still the Prince of Friendship. It would be very disheartening to see the Prince of Friendship ignoring the problem of a dear friend, so your assignment for the next two weeks is to take a vacation and spend some time with the ones you love. As for your trips to Canterlot...how about we cut them down to one visit a month, I hope you and Rainbow are doing well my dear friend.
Your Dear Friend and Mentor,
Prince Solaris of Equestria

Dusk smiles as he finishes the letter, putting it away as he watches Rainbow napping in the bed beside him. Dusk snuggles into the bed next to Rainbow, nuzzling into the stallion’s neck after giving him a light kiss on the forehead. Rainbow wraps his hooves around Dusk’s barrel draping his wings over Dusk’s frame, Dusk quickly dozes off to sleep in the hooves of the stallion he loves and he has never been happier.
