Night Talk

The apartment door opened and Zack walked in, followed by Kat.
"This place is nice." said Kat.
"Yeah." said Zack, walking to the bedroom. "Uh..."
"What is it?" asked Kat.
Zack looked at her. "One bed."
"Oh, well..." said Kat. "We c... We can manage."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. You don't snore, do you?" asked Kat.
Zack shook his head. "Nope."
"Then we should do just fine."
Zack headed into the kitchen area. "This place is nice."
Kat went into the bedroom and jumped onto the bed, sliding under the covers.
"This bed feels nice." she said. "Come here and try it out."
Zack turned around, taking in the fact that Kat had just asked him to get in bed with her. He then made his way into the bedroom and got in the bed on the other side.
"It is nice." he said.
Kat looked out the window in the bedroom. It was night time.
"I'm probably gonna go to sleep." she said, turning around to face Zack.
"Me, too."
"Remember..." said Kat. "No snoring."
Zack smiled as Kat closed her eyes. He did the same.

Present Day
May lay in bed, reading a book. Pinkamena came in and yawned.
"Have fun today?" asked May.
Pinkamena went around to the other side of the bed and climbed in. She then scooted next to May and laid down, her head in the mare's lap. May put the book on the nightstand and stroked Pinkamena's mane.
"Something wrong?"
Pinkamena let out a sigh. "I'm sorry if I'm worrying you, May, but... I don't know if I can do this."
"Do what, honey?"
Pinkamena exhaled deeply before answering. "You have to understand that I've done a lot of... bad things in the past. All those mares and colts..." A tear came to her eye. "All those ponies..." She began to cry a little.
"There, there." May cooed, continuing rubbing Pinkamena's mane.
"I see their faces... all the time. And... one of them's... S-S-S..."
"One of them's who?" asked May.
Pinkamena looked up into her eyes. "Strawberry." May looked away, suddenly feeling angry again. "You have to still hate me for that." Pinkamena continued. "That's not something one just forgives." May closed her eyes. "I know she was your best friend, and--"
"Stop it!" yelled May.
Pinkamena had a hurt look on her face as she quickly sat up. May held a hoof to her own mouth when she realized what she said.
"Oh, baby, I'm..." She held out her hooves, "I'm sorry." Pinkamena leaned in and May embraced her. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have yelled."
"I'm the one that's sorry." cried Pinkamena. "I'm the one that k--"
"You weren't yourself." May interrupted.
"Yes, I was!" cried Pinkamena, pulling away from May. "I'm the same now as I was then! Don't you get it? I killed Strawberry. I killed those ponies. Me!" She hung her head and continued to cry.
"Oh, Sweetie, I..." said May. "I had no idea."
"Every pony kept trying to pin my behavior on a split personality. That I wasn't myself." She paused. "There was no split personality." Pinkamena explained. "Nothing was wrong with my mind. I... I actually enjoyed killing."
"But you're different now." said May. "You've changed. You're no longer a killer."
"But, I... still have the instinct."
May pulled Pinkamena closer and hugged her. "I'll help you through this, baby. I promise."
"No matter what?" asked Pinkamena. "Even if I... I... lose it again?"
"No matter what." said May with a smile. "I promise I will always be there for you. I'll make sure you don't have relapse. That's a promise."
Pinkamena smiled and sniffled. "R-Really?"
"Really."
"I love you, May."
"I love you, too."
