Sparkletop Rainbows

Just a pegasister who's a huge fangirl on the inside. She follows back and would love to be your friend! (Avatar found at http://swa-oku.deviantart.com/art/Hetalia-Fan-Art-Samovar-Teatime-360787743)

Twilight's friends come out from a heavy blizzard to say good bye to her. She had no idea what they're talking about, but they soon say that she's an alicorn, and that alicorns are immortal. They all have a talk about alicorns, and they express their own opinions about that idea.

When the creators stated that Twilight will not outlive her friends, it gave me the idea to write this fic.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the fuck did i just read lol like it

Well the reason Twilight became and Alicorn. I think is because she's outstripped the magical limits of a Unicorn's biology. So it was probably more a safety issue, Twilight would have died as a unicorn from too much magic, I think she would have exploded. Celestia would be a pretty bad mentor if she let what is basically her apprentice die from a preventable cause.

"WAIT!" Twilight yelled, getting everypony's attention in the room. "Why exactly would I die?"

"But you're going to die!" Pinkie cried.

I thought they thought twilight wasn't going to die?

Honestly I'm of the belief that Twilight is immortal because she's an Alicorn, and that her friends are ALSO immortal thanks to being effectively bound to the Elements of Harmony.

Nopony has ever been so linked to such powerful magical artifacts as the Mane 6 have been with the Elements of Harmony, and seeing that they can summon the power of harmony at will, as well as being summoned by the Cutie Map to spread friendship/harmony through Equestria and beyond tells me that as long as the Tree of Harmony and the Elements of Harmony exist, so too will they.

That's thousands of years of rainbow lasers fired at evil beings!

"WAIT!" Twilight yelled, getting everypony's attention in the room. "Why exactly would I die?"
"Because you're an alicorn," Pinkie replied. "Alicorns are immortal."

Immortal (n): Living forever, never dying or decaying.
...Pinkie you fail logic forever.:facehoof:

"So you're not gonna outlive us?" Pinkie asked.

At least you're on the right page now.

She said she'll make arrangements.

That blind faith... seriously, this reads as though Twi's getting assassinated eventually. If she doesn't die in combat first.

"Hmm... Good point," Pinkie said. "So you're not immortal, but you're still ageless. But Celestia also assured that you'll never outlive us.I think this calls for a party!"

Assassination parties for all!

Mind if I give some constructive criticism?

Twilight got comfy, and began to read her think book.

read her think book.

think book

I like to think all books are think books, because if you think about it all books make you think about the book, so are all think books; in the end every book that makes you think is a think book and thinking about books is what makes them books, so every book is a think book but not every think is a book think unless you live in a book house in a book world, because then you think book thoughts (at least that's what I think about think books and I think some of you may think some other thing about think books, but that is what a think book is to me, I think).

There was a big hole where the two castle doors should be.

She hugged her hooves to he body for warmth, still shivering from the cold air and snow from the blizzard.

Maybe they should have thought about kicking the doors in during a blizzard. Also, there is only one way a pony can hug her hooves to her body, and it's like this: vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/4/4f/Pinkie_Pie_hugging_herself_S3E3.png/revision/latest?cb=20121117112738

Lastly, the story sounds to me like rambling. But hey, personal opinion and all. You're still getting my upvote for trying.

7032143

Actually, when I wrote think book, I actually meant thick book. And Twilight's friends did kick the doors to get inside. That's how the broke it in the 1st place. Lastly, when I wrote about Pinkie hugging her hooves to her body, I was thinking of something similar to Pinkie curling herself up in a ball at the beginning of the 1st Equestria Girls movie.

7031024

At first they think that Twilight would live forever, but then she tells them that she can have a chance of death.

7030728

Basically, the main thing in this story here, is that Twilight's friends barge into her castle because they think that Twilight is immortal, so they want to have a chance to say good bye to her before they die. But then Twilight tells them that she's not immortal, just ageless. Then they all talk about their opinions about her being an alicorn, and what they think of that.

But those lines were said before Twilight explained that she was ageless instead of immortal.

7033748
No, I'm saying that Pinkie claimed that Twilight was going to die because she's an alicorn. Look over the lines again. Unless you have a reason for it, then explain it to me.

7033776

So what I'm saying is that in the beginning, Twilight's friends all say that Twilight is going to die because she's an alicorn, and they think that all alicorn are immortal. But then Twilight tells them that she's not immortal, but just ageless. Then Pinkie questions her about it, and then Twilight confirms it again. Now they all know that Twilight will not outlive them by immortality.

7033808
If they thought all alicorn are immortal, why would they believe Twilight would die before she tells them she's just ageless. Look over the story again and you'll see how little sense the beginning makes.

7033820

Wha....Ohhh, I get it. My bad, I mistyped the beginning :twilightblush:

7033852
Glad we got that straightened out. But you may want to make one more touch-up here:

"WAIT!" Twilight yelled, getting everypony's attention in the room. "Why exactly wouldyou all die without me?"

7033864

You're right. I always tend to type fast.

7033558

but being immortal means you (feasibly) can't die. like highlander, twilight is ageless, but at first the other main ponies thought she was immortal ie can't die without some deus ex machina contrivance, so saying she was going to die contradicts that

Soooo... What is she happens to live forever? Ageless doesn't mean you will die, it means you can die. What's even the point of not aging if you actually plan to die at the end of what would have been your natural lifespan?

7283734

I don't think she will, actually. I like to think that each princess gets their power from the source of which they became princesses from. Celestia gets her power from the sun, so if the sun dies, then she will lose her power. Eventually, Twilight's friends will die, which takes away Twilight's power. This is where a new princess enters, and I'd like to think of it as the apprentice who was raised to take the place of the throne. I think Celestia planned out this system, so nopony would have to be in grief and friendship will live on forever.

7284647
So she's not even really "ageless" as the story tries to hammer in. She just has a period of time during which she won't age. This being right up until all of the Mane 6 are dead, at which point she begins aging again. So she then has the full lifespan of a unicorn(whatever that is) to mourn her friends until she dies of old age.

And no way will she make new friends, nuh-uh.

7290521

Well, she still is ageless at this point. This story takes place where Twilight doesn't know Celestia's plans for her. Even though she doesn't age for a period of time she is still considered ageless for that period of time, but only temporary.

7290764
I'm more wondering the point. Your goal is to avoid the "woe is me I can't deal with life without my friends" immortality-is-bad trope, but temporarily giving her immunity to aging does not solve this. As I said above she'll just go though a full lifetime without the Mane 6, as opposed to an eternity without them.

Your solution doesn't actually solve anything, with or without the idea that her friends are powering her immortality. Unless her age "catches up with her" you don't actually get to avoid the Grief stage. Rather, now she not only has to deal with all her friends dying long before her, she also has to deal with growing old alone.

edit: This is unless, of course, under this idea that having Celestia, Luna and other ageless/immortal beings around, and/or the ability to make new mortal friends over the ages counteracts the "(less than )eternal grief" problem. In which case, what exactly was the point of only giving her temporary agelessness? In a way your solution causes more problems than either straight-up mortality without any aging shenanigans or bog-standard immortality/agelessness.

7291183

Twilight will more likely die with her friends since it's the magic and friendship between them that gives her her aglessness, even if one of her friends die.

7292761
So she gets to live right up to the point that, for example, Rainbow Dash crashes into the side of a mountain at Mach 2? She doesn't get to outlive any of her friends?

Or she just up and croaks when the last of her friends dies for no apparent reason? She gets to outlive all but one friend? Imagine your seemingly immortal just keeling over in the middle of meeting because Fluttershy has a heart attack...

You really don't seem to be putting much thought into this.

I'm confused.
Why does the 114 word-long story consist of 1 chapter that is 1,113 words long?
