E

Celestia and Luna gaze at their old family portrait from long ago. Two smiling young fillies sitting beside their beautiful mother were painted upon the canvas with oil paints that have miraculously survived the onslaught of time. But part of the painting is torn, and for good reason. It was that portion of the painting that had their father on it.

They cannot stand to look at their father for even a second.

But he is coming once again for his yearly visit, much to their eternal dismay, to spend time with them, and to apologize for being what he is. Will they finally forgive him after so long, or will they only continue to distance themselves from him?

is it so much just to let nature that that has existed for all of existence work like it's suppose to

would enjoy a followup of some kind

4151004 possible an epilogue but that would be for another time

Never much cared for the 'balance between X and Y' trope, but this was a beautiful take on the concept.

Poor, poor Necrosis...:raritycry:

Dude! This is good! This is well made... Some grammar was off but the story is good!

4151278 i may have missed a few mistakes during the revision

4151281 nah it wasn't even confusing so all is well and the only thing that matters to me was I liked it :pinkiehappy:

Very interesting, their father being The Grim Reaper, and that's just the title I just usually use. Also, just wanted to throw this out there. One did die in the Crystal Empire, the one that did was Sombra himself. Don't get me wrong, I know you said he was a spirit and all in this world and that's fine. I only pointed that out because in actual mlp lore he was turned into shadow and once exposed to the magic of the crystal heart he regained a physical form. Sorry, good story and again don't get me wrong about the whole Sombra thing, but I just like remembering usual facts about the lore there.

4151349 It's cool, I didn't remember much about Sombra save for getting ghostbustered by the crystal heart anyway.

I actually want to cry now.
Well played, sir. Well played.

I'm not fond of the moral balance tripe that unthinkingly pervades this piece but I am intrigued by the strange relationship the sisters have with their father and his perspective on events.

At first I wanted more to this story. Well to be honest i wanted more at the end. It Intrigued me what he said about what could happen and i wanted to see that. That and I wanted to see why he did not come, what was the reasoning what happened.
Then I thougth more and realized that was the point. Celestia and Luna will never know, and if they did find out my guess is that it will be to late or from some one else. One final thing "Like any good father would..." he did what they asked. very deep in my opinoin, and well said. A cliff hanger that i realized I dont want to see the end too.

I really like this story hope to read more of it

This story really hit me in the feels. A parent's love is always strong. We don't appreciate what we have until its gone. Like air. When you have it you don't notice it.:applecry: I really want see more of this story. Maybe with Luna and Celestia reconciling with their father.

So Sad.:raritycry:

I would like to see more of this though maybe with Celestia and Luna apologising to their father but that just me being hopefull:pinkiesad2:

I actually think the story works better without a follow up. It's more tragic by just ending this way
