I'm just your average Brony. I love trains, I love history, I love writing stories, and I really, really love wolves! But most of all, I love writing my stories here for your enjoyment!

T

The RMS Queen Mary. At one time she was one of the most famous ocean liners in the world, being in service from 1936-1967, having carried 2,112,000 passengers over 3,792,227 miles, and serving in WW2 as a troopship, and even surviving nearly being capsized by a rogue wave in 1942. She'd seen so much during her career, but by 1967, passenger numbers were falling due to jet travel becoming widespread, operating costs were skyrocketing, and with heavy hearts, the Cunard Line announced that they were retiring the Queen Mary, but that her fate wouldn't be the scrapyard. Instead, she was going to be moored in the city of Long Beach, California as a hotel and floating museum. She left Southampton for the last time on October 31st, 1967, and reached Long Beach on December 9th, and after all of her passengers and crew had disembarked, the conversion work of preparing the ship to become a hotel and museum was about to begin, but the ship's Soul had other ideas

For the Soul of the Queen Mary had seen the future, and she knew what her ship's fate would be if she didn't act. She would be nearly wholly gutted below R-Deck, almost all of her machinery would be removed for a useless sea life museum that would close within 10 years, all of her 2nd Class, 3rd Class, and Crew Cabins, along with almost all spaces on these decks would be removed, and her new owners would run her ship into the ground, prioritizing profits over taking care of her, allowing her to fall into deplorable shape for decades. Not wanting this to be her ship's fate, the Queen Mary's Soul took control over the now empty, but still nearly fully-intact ship, fired up her boilers, engines, and other machinery, got her propellers spinning, and after yanking her ship clear of the dock she was moored to, damaging both it and the dock in the process, the Soul of the Queen Mary made for the wide open Pacific Ocean. Her destination? A place she'd heard whispered about during her ship's career; Equestria. A land of peace, harmony, Ponies, and hopefully in need of an ocean liner. With the owners, and various naval assets in hot pursuit of the fugitive ocean liner, the Queen Mary makes a desperate dash for the portal to Equestria, located in the Bermuda Triangle, her only hope of freedom.

This story is the result of an idea that I couldn't get out of my head after doing lengthy studies of the RMS Queen Mary, and noting that this site has a distinct lack of any stories related to the OG ocean liners that aren't the Titanic, so I decided to change that. This story would be rated "E", but due to a number of instances of the use of profanity throughout, it must be rated "T" instead. Other than this, I really hope that you enjoy this story, as well as its very unique twist-ending

Is this based off of real-life events?

Hello Starlight Nova,

And to a large degree, yes. The history of the Queen Mary is entirely accurate, from her service life, up until her arrival in Long Beach, California, and then it becomes fictional, but does come back grounded in reality of how the ship was treated from 1967-2020, when it was closed, both due to COVID, and for emergency repairs, and restoration work, which is still ongoing today

great story mate can't wait for future stories and chapters from you:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

i hope maybe you can write this into a future story it's the battle that paved the way for the spirit of the fighting French:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Hello Shining Paladin,

And thanks. I think you'll enjoy what I have planned for the future of this story, and other projects, from the Battleship Express Saga, to "Texas: A Time to Fight!", to the continuation of my Great Wolf Lodge Saga, and more

Hello Shining Paladin,

And perhaps. I have considered some WW2-based stories before, but the roadblock I keep running into is how to shoehorn Equestria, and/or Ponies, or similar creatures into them in a coherent way, that also fits my writing style

A fascinating story. Can't say that I didn't cry a little when the sisters reunited. :fluttercry:

Hello Okie Brony,

And I'm glad that you enjoyed it. And if that scene made you tear up, then that means I did a good job on it.

Oh, and keep a pin in that scene, as it just might have some bearing later on. Because as I hinted at when Todd was looking over at the drydocked ocean liner RMS Aquitania (1914), a ship that was scrapped in 1950 irl, the Queen Mary isn't the only ocean liner to still exist in this universe (ie, the "real" universe where Todd and Twilight are on the Queen Mary in the year 2020). There's 8 in total. The RMS Queen Mary, the RMS Auquitania, the SS United States (this ship has been moored to a pier in Philadelphia for ages, both irl, and in the story), the * NO SPOILERS*, the * NO SPOILERS*, the * NO SPOILERS*, the RMS Queen Elizabeth 2, and the RMS Queen Mary 2. All of these ships will have roles to play in the future of this Saga

Sweet. And it's ChazMLPFIM, you spell my name wrong

Oh shoot, I did. I'll go fix it now

Hey Scar, great new story and thanks for giving me the credit for the part about how Ships have Souls, would LOVE to see more fanfics done like this, maybe some War Ships that could leave for Equestria, after all something from WW2 could help the Ponies since it would be more advanced then anything that they currently have, they could have Civil War level of tech and suddenly a WW2 ship ends up there for them to find.

Hey Dusk,

And you're welcome. I always try to give credit where credit is due, and you get credit for ship's having Souls, and the Applish River being the main river in Equestria, which got a mention in my stories "Willie's Steamboat", and "Steamboat to Nowhere", though the steamboat in the former was the same from the "Steamboat Willie" cartoon, and the steamboat in the latter was based off the rl steamboat Arabia, which sank on the Missouri River back in 1856, neither of which were inspired by the American Queen. I would have credited you with it if that were the case. Though as you may remember, the American Queen did make a cameo appearance in "Beyond the Express" as a model on Demetria's desk

And I have thought about that, though what held me back was the fact that there's so many stories about Human warships in Equestria, either crewed or not, and there wasn't a single story about human ocean liners in Equestria that weren't the Titanic, so I decided to change that, first with this story, and the one(s) that will follow. Yes, this was just meant to be a warm-up for a much larger story that'll come down the pipeline once I can finish figuring out some more key details (I need to do more research on the RMS Queen Mary, the Port of Long Beach, figure out certain characters, etc). Todd (the author of "A Spirited Journey") will be the MC, and the story will focus on him, Twilight, Shining Armor, a few other TBD characters, and the crew of the QM during the Summer of 2020 as they begin major restoration work on the Queen Mary, before something very interesting happens. (I don't want to spoil too much here, so if you want to hear more, just PM me)
