The reason people dislike the ship, as I understand it (this is not my personal opinion, as I yet to see the movie), Is that he is quite bland and two dimensional, he lacks any real character apart from generic love interest, and he was placed there only for that purpose.
Plus, as a personal opinion, I don't think its quite healthy to carry your affection of an alternate universe version of someone, to your universe. the reasons for your affection lie with the other one, and this one will not share it. Plus, he might already be taken.
