That sounds interesting. Reminds me of that one story where they're trapped in a cabin in the Everfree and something keeps coming to the door as ponies they care about asking for them to let it in. As time goes on, they start to lose it and go crazy since if they don't open the door and it's a friend come to find them, they could continue to be trapped for who knows how long. However, if it's "the thing," they won't need to worry about being saved anymore. Real spine tingler.
