The “Mechanisms” behind the Deus Big Mac’ina · 3:22pm Aug 15th, 2022
So my first and most recent story, Dash Gets Help from a Deus Big Mac’ina, is actually extracted from a much larger story I’m working on. It picks up immediately after the girls wrap up their time together at the dance. Deus Big Mac’ina came about as is because of a few factors.
- I really wanted to get busy posting something. Preferably something that did a decent job representing how I liked to tell stories.
- I really enjoyed this scene from the longer story it came from. But it also acted as a kind of iceberg in terms of story pacing, rudely crashing what was already a lengthy opening exploring that first night after the movie ended, without Twilight there.
- It then made sense to just try and reshape that excerpted scene into its own piece.
Some of that explanation is offered up in order to make excuses as to why the opening is so awkward, rushed, and perhaps even a little baffling. It references events seen in the movie as well as events I then have speculated about elsewhere in a story not-yet seen.
Regardless, for a first effort put out, I am very pleased overall with the end result.
Some remnants from the longer story include exploring how the later “Pony Up” magic first started manifesting, slowly but surely.
I also especially enjoyed the chance to re-explore old memories. Particularly trying to recapture the electrifying but relatively innocent awesomeness that can come from even accidental contact with a crush.
On that note: for any interested (and who made it this far into this post), there is more AppleDash-ish content I have written up. Some pretty cute stuff too, if I do say so myself. But I am not sure exactly when it will make it out.
However, if you enjoyed this story at all, I’m sure some comments of encouragement would go a long way to helping expedite my efforts there.
Oh, and it seems worth mentioning that while an EqG post was my first outing here, it’s not the only kind of story I have worked on. Some other ponyfolk stuff is also bubbling along.
Here’s to future efforts and endeavors in putting out some other pony tales!
