What are changelings? · 3:51pm Apr 19th, 2022
WARNING! You are about to read something resembling a rant.
What are they though? Are they Arthropods? They look like they have exoskeletons. Why do they have expressive eyes if they're Arthropods? If so, then what type are they? They're not arachnids, insects, or bugs (which are an order of insects); they only have four legs, not six or eight. Are they part of some obscure class of Arthropods that only live in the water on Earth, but evolved to be on land in Equis? If they are Arthropods, then how can they get enough oxygen to power their large bodies? Is the air in Equestria extra oxygen rich?
Some individuals argue that changelings are actually some weird kind of Mammal. If that's the case, then why do they have exoskeletons instead of skin? Why would the standard insult be to call them bugs if they're not even in the same phylum?
Some individuals say that changelings are a type of corrupted pony. What could have corrupted them? Why are they Arthropod like? Why aren't they powerful in dark magic?
I think because they have the shapeshifting magic, It allows them to have a different kind of exoskeleton.
Similar to how skin is hard and soft in different places on a horse. We have the exoskeleton be softer and harder depending on the body part it covers.
So areas around the face and joints are softer and more flexible. Which is why we don't see the traditional joints and segments that bugs usually have.
Additionally, Did I mention that they're shapeshifters?
I bet the first thing they learn, like breathing, is how to control the stiffness/softness of their exoskeleton.
