Hello from The First One! · 4:49am Mar 21st, 2019
Logged into Fimfiction on a backported version of K-Meleon 74 on Windows 2000, lag abound over the 10mbps ethernet card!
I was actually posting the specs earlier, but for some reason I got logged out and lost that blog, so I'm just gonna leave it at this. Final specs will come later.
EDITS FROM MY SURFACE GO:
Yeah, The First One is a cheesy name for a computer, but what else would I have called it?
Specs:
- AMD K6-233 underclocked to 166MHz by the motherboard (166MHz is the highest the clock and multiplier jumpers can go to.)
- 384MB EDO RAM (and it is still to this day the most expensive thing I've gotten for the PC.)
- S3/ViRGE DX video card (This was originally in the system all the way back to when I got it, so it was likely OEM installed.)
- DVD drive
- CD drive
- Floppy drive
- 40 gig HDD (that I'm likely going to replace and clone, 'cause the fact that the drive soft-locks the system and starts clicking when I try writing beyond the two existing 8 gig partitions worries me)
- Promise Technology UltraATA 100 IDE card (to access larger drives that the BIOS can't see the space of)
- USB 2.0 card (and *holy crap* was it annoying to find one that didn't prevent the system from POST-ing.)
- 10 megabit Realtek 8029(AS) Ethernet card
- Windows 2000 dual booted with FreeDOS
- Creative Studios Soundblaster AWE32
- Logitech Mouseman Serial 3-button ball mouse
- lag. lots and lots of lag.
A little something for the celebration:
