I published a story! · 12:18am Jul 7th, 2017
Your favorite fimfic author is taking his very first tippety toe baby step toe touch into the wild and wonderful world of original fiction publishing, and that first step is this thing, which you can find here. Might look very familiar if you participated in the Writeoff's first original fiction event, back in whenever.
So, you know, check that out if it's something that gets your pants on in the morning.
Oh, and the Story of the Story of Spring is Dumb is still happening. I mean, it was supposed to have already finished happening, but then instead life happened, and then life happened again, and then a few more times, and writing about writing about technicolor horse romance takes an unfortunate back seat to a lot of other obligations. But I'll get back to it soon.
I also get back to finishing Some Hugs Are Better than Others sometime soon too.
So, stay tuned.
And thanks!
Very cool I will take a look and congratulations! I also look forward to seeing more of "some Hugs are Better than Others".
It sort of reminds me of New Wave science fiction; that glut of stories in the 60s and 70s that were incredibly punchy and abrupt in their delivery. Things like "'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman" by Harlan Ellison come to mind. Things like the underuse of commas and the ambiguous, metaphorical language in particular.
It didn't really grab me overmuch, but perhaps on a second read-through there will be layers that I skimmed over in the first reading. It feels like a story that requires more than one reading (especially since I missed the obvious connections between the movie and the story until the end).
Still, congrats! If they paid you, extra congrats! If they didn't pay you, a significantly less enthusiastic congrats.
Congratulations! I'm glad things are going well for you in terms of publishing.
That meaning "anything got published at all."
How awesome to get your name in print! Congrats, and may it be the first of many.
It's great to see the OF Writeoffs put to use, too. I think this is the third story that has gone on to professional publication from them (along with one of mine and AugieDog's).
Yay you!

Thank you!

haha, "pay"

One publication is going very well, because one publication takes quite a bit more work than I would've expected.

I didn't know about the other two. Do you have links by any chance?

Yay you too!

Thank you!

"The Precession of the Equinoxes" (bronze medalist, "No Prompt! Have Fun!") ended up getting sold to the Gods with Fur anthology [announcement post], available here or at Amazon et.al.
Mine was "Chasing the Dragon" (gold medal, "Staring into the Abyss"), which will be published in the upcoming Arcana anthology, though is not yet available for purchase.
Are you no longer planning to remove all of your stories from public access on Fimfiction? I still have them bookmarked just in case.

Maybe someday. I keep getting too bogged down in new writing projects to finish my old ones. Eventually, I still plan on rewriting some of my fimfic stories into original stories. I don't know when that'll happen, or if that would necessitate pulling down stories here. They're safe for now.

If you could provide warning when you plan to do so, that would be awesome as it would save me from keeping track of them in the interim. Just a blog post a few days in advance would suffice.

Of course. Will do.
Great story. That mix of comedy, drama and psychology I love about your stuff.
