Friendship is Card Games: Epic (Noun) Time

Yeah, we’re dipping into the fandom archives for this one. Literally, given that the Alligator Tub Productions YouTube channel has renamed itself and wiped its content. But the Internet never forgets (except when it does) so let’s look at some classic fan animation and see how well it holds up.

Friendship is Card Games: Ponyville Mysteries: Schoolhouse of Secrets

This is an interesting situation. I begin my look at the Ponyville Mysteries novel series, which predates the Ponyville Mysteries comics I reviewed back in… 2019, my goodness.

Well, let’s get this started before my bones turn to dust.

    Egregious Automaton: Retract

Ahem. So. Upon further investigation, it is possible that the primary source for the "AI voices" brouhaha may, in fact, have been full of crap. Or at the very least, does not work at Hasbro.

    Egregious Automaton

You may have already heard about this from Equestria Daily or elsewhere in your personal bit of the Webbernets, but the reason behind the abrupt end of Make Your Mark has come to light.

Friendship is Card Games: Set Your Sail, #1 & #2

As “The Blockywockys” showed, seaponies never stopped being a thing. Whether they’re the same thing in this comic as Destiny the underwater friendship bracelet weaver remains to be seen. Let’s dive in and find out.

The main problem with music in written works is that the author is attempting to convey an auditory medium through a visual one. This means that the lyrics, more often than not, come off as incongruous poetry. This can be troublesome when writing fanfiction for a series known for its spontaneous musical numbers.
One way to work around this problem is to use known songs, or at least the music thereof. Of course, when using the latter option, the would-be lyricist runs into a new problem: the new lines have to fit the tune. This can be more challenging than you may think, especially if you have difficulty writing dialogue for Zecora.
Why do I bring this up? Well, between "The Modern Cartoon Character's Song" in Elementals of Harmony, work I've done with my friend Roadpony the Loud, and this comment on food food food's The Sparkle Essays (which you should definitely read if you like stories about Equestria's history,) it's fairly clear that I'm rather good at making words both rhyme and fit a specific scansion. Also, I like helping people. Thus, I am offering my services for those in need of ponified lyrics. Just shoot me a PM with the story, the situation, the singer, and the song, and I'll reply with suitable lines. (Of course, if the singer's an OC and the story isn't published yet, I'm going to need some information about the character's personality, the better to ensure the lyrics are in-character for him, her, it, or otherwise.)

tl;dr: Need new lyrics for an existing song for a ponyfic? PM me the details.

Hum, interesting.
Perhaps I can get you to join team Romaji.

What exactly would that entail?

1460796 Well, the only project I can publicly reveal is making the theme song for Code: Pony Evolution.
(Lyrics and BG tune here)
Other projects are in the works.

1460796 so, what do you think of 1460796?

If you've already got the lyrics and the song, there's nothing I can offer.

1462405 ah.
I was thinking you did redubs.

So would I. Sadly, I only write lyrics, not the music to go with them.

A fellow filker! I can't seem to stop custombobulating lyrics either. It's so much fun. :pinkiehappy:

Is that what the kids are calling it these days? Good to know.

2235595 Kind of: though a lot of filk music is entirely original content, I first encountered it in its other meaning of parodying existing songs.

So I may want to take you up on this in the future; got nothing at the moment, but I have some long-term plans...

Shoot me a PM when the time comes, and I'll be happy to offer what help I can.
