"Scootaloo!"

"Scootaloo!"

Zzz...

"Scootaloo!"

Ca-caw! Ca-CAW!

Yawn...

"Hm?"

Scootaloo sat up from the hard wooden boards she had fallen sleep on, which in response the birds around her quickly flew away. She yawned once more, and turned around to face the ladder where a unicorn filly with a blonde mane and a purple-gray coat was holding a telescope with a smile on her face.

"Heya, Dinky." said Scootaloo, rubbing the last bits of sleep out of her eyes.

"I knew I'd find you up here!" said Scootaloo's best friend, Dinky, climbing up onto the viewing platform as opposed to dangerous hanging off the ladder. "This is my favorite spot on the island, too! I gaze out at the sea and play with the gulls!"

Scootaloo nodded, and casually shook some dust out of her coat.

"Scoots, do you remember what day it is today?" asked Dinky with a smile.

"I dunno." said Scootaloo. "Mail day?"

"You're still half-asleep, aren't you?"

"Yep."

Dinky giggled. "Scootaloo, it's your birthday today!"

"Oooooh!" she finally managed to wake up enough. "That's right, it is my birthday!"

"Ms. Twilight has been waiting for you to go her house! She's been waiting for a while now..."

Scootaloo's eyes widened in realization. "Aw, mare! I hope she isn't too upset that I fell back asleep!"

"Guess it's a good thing I came and found you, huh?"

She nodded, and hurried over to the ladder. "I'd better not keep her waiting any longer!"

Dinky smiled. "Probably! I'm just going to stay up here and play with the gulls."

"Sure thing!"

Scootaloo quickly climbed down the tall ladder, and landed on the dock below. She would have just jumped off the look-out point, but she only had three hearts, so it was too risky. She dashed across the dock over to the grass, and then turned to run across a step of stones towards Ms. Twilight's house. She hesitated on one of the stones, and then quickly jumped over to grab a blue rupee and a yellow rupee, which were worth a total of fifteen green rupees. Scootaloo then simply jumped into the water, and swam over to the shore.

"Hi there, Scootaloo!" called out Drips (which was a nickname he had been given due to how runny his nose got) as she ran towards Ms. Twilight's house. "What's up?"

"The sky!" she responded, running by him without another word.

She made it to Ms. Twilight's house, and went in without bothering to knock.

"Ms. Twilight?" asked Scootaloo. "Sorry I took so long! I fell asleep!"

"It's fine, Scootaloo." said a voice from the upper part of the house. "Would you mind coming up here?"

"Not a problem!"

She quickly climbed up the ladder, where Ms. Twilight was standing with a green outfit held in her magic. She was standing in front of a shield on the wall, which had two fake swords behind it. She smiled and gently pushed up her glasses before they fell off her face.

"There you are." said Ms. Twilight with a smile. "I've been waiting for you."

"Yeah, Dinky told me." said Scootaloo.

She nodded, and levitated the outfit over to Scootaloo. "Could you try this on? Wow, I can't believe that you're already old enough to wear these clothes..."

Scootaloo nodded, and took the outfit from Twilight's magic.

You got the Hero's Clothes! They look like they might be a little warm for this weather...

She frowned, and looked over at Ms. Twilight.

"Now don't look so disappointed." said the unicorn in response. "Just try them on. Today is a day to celebrate! It's the day that you become the same age as the hero of legend! You only have to wear the outfit for a day, so be proud while wearing it!"

"Does it have wing holes?" asked Scootaloo as she unfolded it.

"We can't figure out if they're wing holes or tears in the fabric, but either way, yes."

She sighed and quickly slipped on the outfit, with help from Ms. Twilight to get herself untangled. She refrained from putting on the silly hat, but Ms. Twilight simply put it on her with the use of her magic. Oddly enough, the outfit felt like it was the perfect size for her, but Scootaloo ignored it.

"Well, I think I'll get started on your cake." said Ms. Twilight with a smile. "What flavor do you want?"

"Chocolate!" said Scootaloo, her annoyance about the silly outfit diverted into excitement.

"Sure thing! But can you go find Dinky? She really wanted to help out with the baking."

"No problem, I know exactly where she is!"

Scootaloo jumped down to the door (the drop wasn't too high here) and sprinted back towards the look-out point.

"Scootaloo, what's with the outfit?" asked Drips as she ran by him.

"The sky!"

"That's your response to everything!"

She smirked as she ran across the dock, and climbed back up the tall ladder. Dinky was surrounded by a few birds, and was staring off towards the ocean. As Scootaloo walked up to her, the bird flew away, and Dinky turned around in surprise.

"'Hoy, Scootaloo!" said Dinky gleefully. "That outfit looks really cool on you!"

"Thanks, Dinky." said Scootaloo with a smile.

"Anyways, can you close your eyes and hold out your hooves? I'm going to give you my most treasured belonging! But only for today!"

"Uh..." Scootaloo paused for a moment. "Sure!"

She shut her eyes tight, and held out her right forehoof.

"Happy birthday!"

Scootaloo opened her eyes to see Dinky's telescope in her hoof. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she looked up and her friend.

"You're letting me use your telescope?" she asked in surprise.

"It's my birthday present to you!" replied Dinky.

"Dinks, this is so nice of you!"

You got the Telescope! This is your best friend's most precious belonging. Treasure it dearly!

"You should try it out right now!" said DInky.

"Sure!"

Scootaloo carefully lifted up the telescope to her eye, and looked over at Ms. Twilight's house. She got bored of staring at the unmoving wood after just a few seconds, and turned up to look at the sky.

Where she saw a giant bird the size of Ms. Twilight's house.

"What the hay?!?" cried Scootaloo in surprise. She zoomed in, and saw hat the bird was carrying a filly in it's talons. "Oh my gosh, that bird is kidnapping somepony!"

A cannonball flew past the bird, and Scootaloo turned her telescope to see a pirate ship chasing after it. The bird continued to dodge the cannonballs being fired at it, before one hit it dead-on. The bird let out a cry of pain, and dropped the filly it was holding. Scootaloo followed the filly's fall using Dinky's telescope, but lost sight of her as she fell into the forest.

"I hope she didn't lose too many hearts!" said Dinky nervously as Scootaloo finally stopped looking through the telescope.

"I'll go make sure she's okay!" said Scootaloo, putting away Dinky's telescope in her item bag.

"But the forest is too dangerous without something to protect yourself with!"

"Oh, don't you worry." She couldn't help but grin. "I've got something I can use."

"Are you sure it's safe enough, though?"

"Of course I'm sure! Plus, Cutie Mark Crusader Best Friends: Pony Saver!"

Dinky smiled. "And I'll go help Ms. Twilight with your celebration cake for when you come back successful!"

Scootaloo nodded, and quickly climbed down the ladder once more. She hurried back across the dock, and towards Ms. Twilight's house. There was a certain something from under the deck that she needed to grab before going to the forest...

Scootaloo's Sword

Scootaloo quickly dove under Ms. Twilight's deck, and crawled through the "tunnel" to a small area under the house. There was a small chest, which she quickly opened and pulled out the item inside.

You got the Hero's Sword! Use it wisely and carefully...

She grinned, and quickly pulled out a scabbard from her item bag. She put on the scabbard, tucked the sword away in it, and hurried out from underneath Ms. Twilight's house. She ran back past Drips for the fourth time that day, who called out to her once more.

"Scootaloo, what's with the-"

"The sky!"

"Seriously, again?!?"

She hurried up the hill towards the mountain-top forest, and glanced over at the pirate ship for a moment. It was rather ominous to see the ship, but also rather exciting. She ran up to the tree barricade blocking her path, and sliced through it with a single swipe of her sword. She held it firmly in her teeth as she continued running, but still managed a smirk. Looked like all that training was paying off.

Scootaloo ran up the hill and to the bridge, where several boards were missing in the middle. She simply jumped over the gaps, and finally made it up to the forest where the filly had fallen. She entered into the forest, where the filly was hanging unconscious on a branch by a pale blue pearl necklace she was wearing.

"That looks painful..." muttered Scootaloo, quickly running through the forest towards the filly.

!!!

She quickly turned to the side to see an enemy (a diamond dog) that had spotted her. Scootaloo quickly slashed at it with her sword, and it "poofed" away into deep purple smoke. A green rupee dropped, and she picked it up before continuing through the forest. She had to jump to reach certain ledges, since she still couldn't fly.

!!!

!!!

Scootaloo looked up to see two birds, each carrying a diamond dog, above her, and dodged out of the way as they dropped the diamond dogs down towards her.

"Grr..."

"Think you can handle me?" asked Scootaloo, before swiftly attacking one of them.

After two swipes, the second diamond dog hit Scootaloo from behind, and she skidded across the ground.

Two point seven-five hearts out of three

Furiously, she got back up and finished off the first diamond dog, and then focused all of her attention of the second one. With just a few more swipes, both diamond dogs were gone, and Scootaloo had a few more rupees.

"Huh?"

She looked over to see that the filly had regained consciousness, before she promptly freaked out about hanging on the tree. She flailed around a bit, before the branch snapped and she tumbled onto the ground.

"Ouch!"

"Are you okay?" asked Scootaloo, hurrying over towards her.

The filly looked over Scootaloo for a moment, before speaking. "What's with that get-up?"

"I-"

"Well, whatever. Where am I?"

"You're-"

"Oh that's right! That stupid giant bird came and-"

"Miss Spoon!' cried out a panicked voice as they ran into the forest. "Miss Spoon, are you alright?" The pirate (Scootaloo could tell that he was one of the pirates on the boat now) quickly ran over to the filly. "Oh, thank goodness you're safe, Miss Silver Spoon! When I saw you get dropped on this summit, I thought for sure that you'd..."

"Summit? So that bird dropped me at the of a mountain?" asked Silver Spoon, adjusting her slightly cracked blue glasses. "Well that wasn't nice of it!"

"I don't think it was nice of it to be flying away with you in its clutches in the first place." said Scootaloo dully.

Silver tossed Scootaloo a quick glare, before turning towards the pirate that had been worried about her.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go give that bird what it deserves!"

"But what about this filly?" he asked, pointing at Scootaloo.

"That bird is our first and only priority right now! Move it!"

The pirate hurried off after her, and Scootaloo scowled.

"Yeesh, you're annoying..." she muttered, before running out of the forest after them. "And I thought I was impatient..."

"HELP!"

Scootaloo froze at hearing the familiar voice, and broke into a gallop to outside.

Dinky?!? she thought nervously. Why would she be crying for help?

She ran outside, only to be immediately yanked down into a patch of grass and trees by Silver Spoon.

"Hey!" said Scootaloo in surprise. "What-"

"Be quiet!" hissed Silver. "Unless you want to risk that bird getting you, too!"

Scootaloo managed to look past the grass to see the giant bird flying towards them, except holding a different filly in its talons. She quickly yanked out Dinky's telescope and aimed it at its talons, and her fear was confirmed when she was that it was holding Dinky. She was about to cry out Dinky's name, but Silver quickly covered her mouth.

"Don't attract its attention!" she hissed.

"But that bird has my best friend!" hissed back Scootaloo.

"Then that's just too bad! You can't do anything to help her now!"

Scootaloo glared at Silver, and watched as the bird came closer. It was going to fly right over the bridge, so she had one shot to free Dinky!

"HELP!" cried Dinky for the second time.

Scootaloo snapped, and quickly ran out onto the bridge before Silver could stop her. Furiously, she slashed her sword at the bird's talons as it flew by, but it didn't seem to affect it. Instead, she was knocked off her hooves by the wind generated by the bird's wings, and she slid down where the missing board was. She frantically reached up to grab one of the wooden boards, and managed to hold on for a few seconds, before she started to slip again. Her hoof was abruptly grabbed by somepony else, who struggled to keep her from falling.

"Do you even realize how dangerous that was?!?" cried Silver as she pulled Scootaloo up.

"At least I tried!" said Scootaloo, now very upset. "But now that bird has my friend!"

"It was too late for you to do anything once it grabbed her in the first place!"

She frowned and watched as the bird flew farther and farther away, which Dinky still in its clutches.

"Dinky..."
